Ok so here's a new issue. I plug in headphones and they connect. Then it says Headphones disconnected, but audio still plays through. This causes Viper to not work because it also thinks there are no headphones plugged in.

Before you installed Viper, did you try listening to music through headphones long enough to know this didn't exist then?

Yes. They work fine. But the device thinks they become disconnected. It's headphones with a mic on them that are doing it. Speakers work and headphones without a mic work and Viper works because they don't appear as disconnected.
Unfortunately my best ones are my Sol Republic V10's and they are affected.

Do you have any other headphones with mics to try? Seems odd that only that kind is affected.

3 pairs with mics and after I plug them in the says headphones disconnected. Like I said they still have sound but since the device shows them DC'd then so does Viper. Sol V10's, V8's and Beats Solo 2 all with Mics. JBL earbuds w/o a mic work fine, external speakers work fine. It's got to be a driver issue of some sort. Not with Viper but with the ROM

It's when there is a headset control in the live that it does it like on the headphones I have. When I plug in a headphone splitter first and then the headphones, which in turn disables the headset controls, it doesn't do it
Guys, I still can't send adb commands in USB debugging mode. Just before I installed the CM ROM I was using the adb to reboot, push, pull etc.. Now, when I connect the phone, I can't. I checked device manager and saw a yellow icon near 'ascend mate 2'. For some reason, the phone driver had disappeared. That might be the problem. I had the Huawei drivers that come with JB. I installed them to no avail. I have another computer which has Google drivers already installed. I plugged the phone and the result was the same.
@medwatt did you install HiSuite from Huawei website. That's the only way I can get adb to work with Windows 8.1 or 10.

That's what I had to do also use HiSuite.

Yes, adb has always been working. It only stopped working after I installed CM. Also, HiSuite is designed to work with the Huawei ROM. So, it won't work on a non Huawei ROM.

ADB is working you need to go into settings/developer options/ and enbale root access for apps and adb then enable android debugging after that. Its working for me on Windows 10.
Man, everything is activated. I've been using adb long enough to know what is required to get it working. Check the attached image. Do you have some driver that I need to install. I have always just plugged the phone to the computer and adb was ready to go. The only driver I ever installed was the Huawei driver that came with JB 4.3. Apart from the low speaker volume and this adb issue, the ROM has been very smooth and bug free so far.

I honestly don't know. I didn't install Viper and my ear buds w/ mic work. Did you try changing the compatibility mode, or making it system app? Don't know if those will help.

Yeah I installed HiSuite too but adb doesn't work for me either on Windows 10. I have those settings enabled too.

Install 15 second adb, install HiSuite and then do a restart. Just tried it on a random windows 8.1 workstation

I have Minimal ADB and Fastboot installed.
Everything is working well so far from my short testing.....Only thing I can't seem to get working is transparent nav/status bars on Nova. Anyone got a work around with xposed or anything?

How to do volume boost on the new CM12.1 builds (rear speaker)
Since I am fairly sure that Viper is not working on this CM12, and I needed something to boost the unbelievably low speaker volume, I decided to do it the simplest way I know how, by editing the mixer_paths.xml file.
Instructions(easy):
Using a root explorer, navigate to /system/etc/, find the file "mixer_paths.xml" file. Rename to "mixer_paths.xml.orig".
Place this file in that same directory>>> Modded mixer_paths.xml (make sure the permissions match the original)
Reboot. Done.
Instructions(manual):
Using a root explorer, navigate to /system/etc/, find the file "mixer_paths.xml" file. Create a backup of this file named "mixer_paths.xml.orig".
Open the original 'mixer_paths.xml" file in a text editor, and find the line that says

Six lines below that, you should find this line

change it to

<ctl name="RX3 Digital Volume" value="91" />
Reboot. Done.
If it's too loud for your liking, what with speaker crackling and whatnot, you can always change the 91 to something like 90 or lower. I would not go above 95 however.
What volume does it boost? Rear speaker and ear piece?

Anyone using any audio mods , if so which ones and how well do they work? I'm coming from the HTC One which has great headphone/speakerphone audio quality. I'm not too concerned about speakerphone as I use headphones most of the time.

Isn't that a flashable zip? Is there an option to flash in stock recovery since the Verizon variant doesn't have TWRP or CWM?

It worked for me but, no significant change in regard to loudness. As far as sound quality....big difference.

it does work, the g3 just has a great audio output that its hard to tell the difference. you will not get an increase in volume though :crying:
I am an audiophile. I own many thousands of dollars in headphone equipment as well as monitoring equipment. I have been an avid android user and developer since the HTC G1. I use viper4audio not for the speaker output but for the headphone output. The G3 uses the same Amp for the speaker as it does for the headphones. There is no change what so ever when viper4audio is enables to my sound. I use the equalizer ive checked multiple settings, i've even used different audio players to get viper4audio to work on neither the speaker or headphones. What you experiencing is a placebo effect.
I hate to ask such a basic question, but are you guys using the XPOSED framework and have you enabled the viper mod in the framework?
I can assure you this mod works with the G3 (at least the AT&T version - I'll be testing on a verizon version later today). The sound difference can be drastic depending on what mods you turn on and to what levels you set them at.
That brings up another question I guess.... Are you going into the GUI and selecting different mods? Just installing the app won't change anything as nothing is turned on be default. You have to set things up manually.....
Just moved from and S5 and this was one thing I installed first. I can't speak to the headphone jack but bluetooth audio definitely works.
Viper sounds amazing on this phone, I can tell a difference from my s4. Very happy with spotify viper combo

I followed the instructions in the op and saved the original file on my sdcard but I ended up buying another sdcard and forgot I had it in the old sdcard. I am an audiophile as well and viper has been working perfectly for me since day one of rooting my g3. I don't have force enable viper on. I also have the user audio profile installed. And FX compatibility mode is on normal. Do you have yours installed as a system app? I don't.

I am an audiophile and I always recommend Noozxoide Eizo Rewire Pro. Amazing.
I think viper is the best I notice a big difference in both quality and volume I used a decibel meter on my g2 to compare the difference and with viper I gained on the low end 6 db and on the high end 10db so that's an average of a 8 db gain with viper
I rooted almost specifically to use Viper4Android. Ive noticed that the phone speaker is actually quieter with V4A enabled(probably just settings) but headphone volume/clarity is fantastic. I also came from an HTC One M7, and i have to say, 1 watt does work on this device

I can confirm this also. V4A FX 2.3.3.0/Verizon VS985(Rooted) -
Viper always has worked for me on my G3 with and without Xposed framework installed, but always with root. My steps are below, never given me a problem.
V4A version 2.3.3.0 [in Normal (not compatibility) mode, with granted root permissions, Latest version, expert UI, played with SPOTIFY]
Installed by dragging apk from extSD to
dragged to system/apps/
permissions change to rw-r--r--
ownerships changed to root
if its not in my app drawer, i reboot, if it is I go straight to the install of the drivers (both have worked fine for me)
installed V4A driver by granting root
Super Audio Quality
Reboot
Select it as the equalizer in spotify

Has anyone tried an audio boost to the headphone out volume with V4A Installed? I like to feel my head shake with bass...but am very picky about quality of sound too. I know on my GS4 any audio boost to TW 4.4.2 caused distortion even if using V4A at 50% media volume @ signal strength= moderate \ Max Gain =x4 \ Max output = -1.9db

As I've mentioned in other posts I have an issue with the newer android builds because they have an audio limiter/compressor/auto gain control built in which greatly reduces the output of the headphone jack making it hard to get good volume from whatever you plug it into and also making the built in speaker do weird things. Anyways I may have found a possible fix but I have no idea how to use these commands in the link. Can somebody please explain how these work? Thanks in advance!

i am not a dev but it seems to be something that applications can use to normalize input from the mic
so i dont think this is related to audio output from mp3 files

Are you familiar with the limiter I speak of? Like when there a soft spot in the music and then hits a loud spot the limiter kicks it down. As an audiophile this is driving me nuts trying to find a way to turn it off lol. Have any ideas? Maybe it's located in build.prop?

its not the build.prop but if you want to play with configure files, you could go into /system/etc there are some conf related to audio there and some more in /system/etc/parameter-frameworks

best to copy them to a pc and use notepad++, then put it back and reboot

I love me some Lollipop but it was way to quiet!!!
I modded the stock files from latest LOLLIPOP update. I was tiered of waiting for someone else to do it. So, I figured I would share.
This will only work if...
1. You have root on Verizon S4 with Lollipop
2. You have @Chainfire- Flashfire app installed so you can flash this zip file.
I have included stock sound files if you want to go back..
Flashable Volume boost (not to loud)
Flashable Revert to Stock Volume levels
Galaxy S4 VZW Only. Have not tested on any other devices.
To Flash:
1. Open the FlashFire app and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
2. Press (+) twice to bring up the “Actions” menu.
3. Select “Flash ZIP or OTA” then locate and select the sound-boost-lp.zip. Make certain that “Auto-mount” is unchecked then press the checkmark to continue.
4. Press the lightning bolt then “ok” to begin the flashes. The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system before beginning the flash. Once complete your device will reboot. Done!
Not responsible for you if you flash on something other than what I built this for. And if you do flash it on said device,then I am still not responsible as this is all a risk..
Before flashing any mods you should always make a backup!

I chose not to flash thru FlashFire. I just extracted the files in ES File Explorer, copy and pasted to /system/etc/snd_soc_msm, and set permissions.

Also - why are there two copies of each zip file in the OP for download? They each appear to be the same two files going to the same directory. Am I missing something?

I pushed the files and set permissions and rebooted, and don't think I hear any difference in volume on my BT headset. So maybe this mod won't help w/that volume. I thought I had heard that back when I used this mod on my S4 running JB...

@Redflea I'm in the same boat. I was hoping that this mod would end my quest :fingers-crossed: I've tried everything including V4A. I just can't seem to find something that will increase the core BT volume. With V4A I'm able to increase the bass, clarity and play with the equalizer but it seems I need to do this for songs with bass and songs without bass; it's just not cutting it. I'll keep on searching for something that allows BT audio gain and I'll let you know if I find something.

It is frustrating....I'm kinda surprised that we don't have a sharp Android dev who's figured this out.

By default the icon is hidden, which can be enabled via Settings>Status Bar. As far as the sound go, you might have to do a factory reset or a clean flash.

So I wrote up this post over on the XDA Portal on how to increase the headphone jack volume on the OnePlus 6. I then realised when I updated my device that that change had reset. As a result, I spent a couple of minutes putting together a Magisk module to make that change for you. It works for every OOS version released so far. Just download it below, install it in Magisk and you're good to go! It should work on custom ROMs, but I haven't tried that yet.

Okay so it did work for me, but it only works for YouTube, not for the stuff downloaded. Whenever I play downloaded music from my music player, it doesn't sound loud, rather it sounds the same. Is there any way that I can increase the volume from my music player?

This really sucks because I have the same problem. I'm using a systemless root with Magisk and I can't directly edit the mixer path file without it reverting. Likewise, I'm unable to load this .zip file in Magisk because it says unsupported file. Any idea how I'm supposed to get this working? I'd really like to see if adjusting this to 90 would help drive my B&O H6 headphones!

This would be great, Bluetooth headphone users don't get the flar2 gain control so we can only alter volume with v4a, which doesn't output enough imo

Why don't just use V4A FX? it will loud all system volume, you can choose between headphones and speaker and can perform every changes or just loud up the volume...just a suggestion
Guy's, just rename name of the file, for example boost.zip and everything is fine, flashing on magisk work like a charm.

Because v4a isnt systemwide. It breaks on notifications without another magisk module to patch that, and the gain is limited, and the effects arent reliable, they tend to randomly do "Processing: No"

Latest version is systemwide, and yes is limited butquite loud in my opinion, never have any issue, but i was just wandering why, don't wanna start a discussion about this OT

Its systemwide in a Sense, but not really, There is audio ducking on notifications, hence the module "notification_helper remover"
And v4a hasnt Been updated in years, only some People modded the ui and Called it new, unfortunatley There hasnt Been anything touched in v4a's processing in years
