Fire HD 6 Wiped Necessary Files After Factory Reset - Fire HD 6 and 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI guys,
I had a successful root of my Fire HD 6. I tried to do a factory reset and somehow I think I wiped necessary files from the device. I can still get to TWRP, but looking through the files I dont see anything. I see the structure but no files. Is there anyway I can get a flashable stock rom or another rom for this? I searched a bit but could not find anything.
Any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Jesse
EDIT: Just looked ar it hooked to my computer and the only directory is TWRP
EDIT: I tried flashing 5.2.0_stock_recovery_only.zip" and now I lost TWRP

Awesome! This should keep you in straight jacket before you do some more damage
With 5.2.0 recovery working (?), you are all set to sideload 4.5.3 and root it again:

Should have been clear. After I tried the recovery, I lost TWRP but I am still stuck at the amazon logo. I think I might be screwed now... haha
EDIT: I tried a 4.5.2 bin that I had but it wont pass verification. Downloading the one you referenced and will try to side load that. Am I going down the wrong path? Seems like I should be able to get a stock package and sideload it over adb right?
UPDATE:Just sideloaded the one you lined. Seems like it worked. As soon as I started it, it forced an update though. Thank you! I think I am in a good spot to root again.

Well, you have to make sure that you disable OTAs right after you sideload 4.5.3, or it will immediately replace 4.5.3 with 4.5.5 which is not rootable directly !

Makes sense. I actually ended up on 5.0 and I should still be able to downgrade from there I think. Thanks for the help

I had been fighting with the same exact problem for the past 2 days!
I just fixed it by downloading the .21 firmware from Asus and renaming the extracted file EP201_SDUPDATE.zip. Manual update method from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570696&page=13 post 128.
I am now up and running and if I can get adb going again I will do the downgrade and root. I probably will not mess with the build.prop for a while. Good Luck

Give this a try. Worked for us
did this delete your camera pics and videos? i did that last time and i lost my pics. but it was probably because i had done a factory reset before i tried this thinking that would fix it. but this shouldnt touch those files because its like an update right?
I can`t say 100% because I also did a factory wipe first. But I`m pretty certain it is just a manual update and you should be ok.
thanks alot bro. it worked and my stuff is still there.
Glad it all worked out! Enjoy

I tried this method by renaming the zip from within the extracted file and put in on a microsd card then i rebooted into system recovery and got the android with the red ex, so i rebooted but it goes back to the black screen after the epad logo and never forces the update. Any suggestions?

[Q] Broke Amazon instant Video

After rolling back on my thor kindle hdx, I get an error when I ever I try to play or download a video on Amazon Instant Video. It says to contact customer service. Has anyone fixed this or knows how to?

After you successfully rollback did you do your factory reset ?supposed to before reroot and all. At least go and wipe data for any app that fc.
Yes, I have factory reseted and still no luck. It is rooted through the toolkit with ota off.
Xposed?HDXposed? Tried reverse ota blocker? Any block or firewall at router ?which base Are you on?
I tried turning on the OTA with the .94 toolkit and then launching an episode. Still same error "We're experiencing a problem playing this video. If this problem continues, p lease contact Amazon Customer Service."There are no blocks on my router and my brother's HDX video works fine on the same network as me. (However he as not tried rolling back nor rooting. Any ideas? Should I try updating to the most recent version, I hear it can still be rooted.
Thanks in advance,

No no this is fairly simple , you never told me which system you're on so just go grab the bin file that matches up with your system I believe you said you roll back to the 13.3.1.0 ? Simply grab that Bin file again put it on your device open file explorer and rename it .zip boot into safestrap boot into stock system wipe cache and a basic factory reset . Flash your renamed Bin file /a flashable version of superuser ie root. Boot , skip set up install xposed framework the HDXposed module initialize module reboot . Set your tablet up .Bam hope that helps.

Ignore that last comment, So I did exactly as you said and when I attempted to watch a video fresh after that factory reset I still get the error. Could it be possible that when I was editing that .prop file when rolling back I touched something I shouldn't have?

Because I had lost safestrap. I used the notepad find and replace function to change the user id and other values and I successfully rolled back. As the tittle says. While trying to use Kingroot on 4.5.2, I managed to leave the Wifi on long enough for the OTA 4.5.4 to download. Where is it and how do I remove the file? Tks
You'll need to wipe your /cache partition. But, I don't think you'll be able to get into recovery before it automatically tries to install the update at boot.
I'm not quite sure how you should go about doing this, but I'd take a look at some of these links:
https://stackoverflow.com/a/10829600
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2580269
@ONYXis might be able to help.
Highly unlikely you will be able to prevent it from installing. I had the same issue a few months back. Every time I powered the Kindle on, it went straight to update. Good luck, but I'd say just take the update, and wait for a way to root, or downgrade path.

Nook Tablet 16G looking to go back to fully OEM stock!

Good morning!
I'm running the CM13 Nightly (I know not stable!).
I have an issue with the CWM recovery that precludes my Tablet from loading/installing OTAs. I am looking to make the tablet stock again to start over again and all of the tutorials I have found point to a recovery SD image that is a malware file.
All I need is the real:
BN_142 factory recovery.ZIP
Every link I follow so far is a malware injection site.

For the benefit of others--and me!--could you describe how you used it? I've kept the file around "just in case" but I confess that I'm not sure how I'd use it if I had some reason to want to go all the way back to the beginning.

well...I had tried 2 different methods to load cm13 to my Nook Tablet and the only thing I could do was to boot into a CWM Recovery. I knew I needed to return to Square One (stock) and stick to one process.
I took the file you had given me and flashed it from the CWD recovery. I reasoned that it should overwrite the Bootloader, Recovery and Firmware with Stock versions and that it did!
I then followed the process from the CM web site and bingo I have a 6.0.1 CM Tablet!!
Ps. some ass had replaced the links on all of the recovery sites that I could find with malware injections!
I had contacted the mods here and they deleted the malware riddled posts.

I look forward to a twrp for Android 7. I already updated to Android 7 but lost my root and I would like to reinstall/flash magisk through twrp. The lasty twrp versions I tried in Android 6, showed upside down on my phone when I booted twrp, but the touchscreen was at the "regular" spot, so it was very very difficult to navigate. I hope I do not have that problem with the next twrp.

You think by now that the twrp would be back to normal after all these updates. Is there something missing in there, that making it upside down?

There is no need for all these complicated steps. My phone(Z016D) was also rooted. I just downloaded the Nougat ROM, copied it over to the root of the internal drive. As soon as you disconnect the phone from PC, you will get a notification "New System Update detected". Click Update and you're good to go. After installation, I would suggest to do a factory reset.

How exactly can they create problems. There reason you can't have OTA updates is unlocked bootloader. That however, shouldn't really prevent you from flashing rom through recovery via SD card or sideload or just dropping it into internal storage and doing what rynaus did.
