S6 Edge Plus randomly shuts off and wireless charging is borked - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

We have owned my wife's S6 Edge Plus for 48 hours or so now. Last night before bed she had around 85% battery life so she just laid it on the table. Woke up this morning and it was completely dead(not the battery), as in would not power on, would not respond to being plugged in, like a bricked phone dead....
We did the volume down/power combo and it booted into recovery, told it to boot normal, and it works fine.....
Several hours later, it was just hanging out in her purse for a couple hours, she takes it out, same thing again.....
Also when she tries to use the Samsung Wireless chargers we got as the promo deal from Best Buy, her Edge Plus will charge a few minutes and then the charger starts blinking blue and her screen comes on and it stops charging. Tried with the Note 5 we got same day, tried both identical new Samsung chargers, charging issue follows the Edge Plus every time. It charges fine when plugged in.
Wondering if this is isolated or not. Figured not since the S6 Edge had the same "SOD" issue based on a quick Google search. Don't want to go through swapping with Verizon if they all have the issue. If a software fix is coming it's better to wait than swap devices for another defective device.
Also to note we purchased a new Note 5 at the same time, it has had no issues at all.
Cliffs:
. Bought new Verizon S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 yesterday
. S6 Edge Plus has trouble using Samsung wireless charger(got two new from Best Buy)
. S6 Edge Plus randomly shuts off and has to be booted into recovery
. Wait for a software fix or make Verizon swap out hardware?

If a factory reset doesn't do the trick, take it back there's something wrong with it. Have had mine for 3 days now and no problems.

I have the same problem with the wireless charger. Came here to see if anyone else did.

Skizzy034 in my googling both issues I mention here have been experienced in the regular size S6 Edge as well, so for this "generation" of hardware these aren't new issues. Just new to us I guess lol. We have a 14 day return window. I'm just trying to figure out if it's a common hardware issue in which case I would return it, or a common software issue that will be fixed soon.

The wifi started being sporadic, it would disconnect and reconnect all the time. As a result my wife who uses like 250Mb a month had a one day usage of 1Gb. No idea how. We took it to Best Buy and the Samsung rep reloaded the software. Couple days later, screen of death twice in one day. Wifi still sporadic. Wireless charging seemed to be fine now.
Exchanged for a Note 5 and it's been rock solid.

Help With Galaxy S2 Problem - Problem with all galaxy s2s?

Hi well my phone randomly did this earlyer.
Got home, started making the sound when you plug the charger in constantly, even when the charge was plugged in and taken out again.
Turned it off to restart it and then a battery sign appeared on the screen alternating with a flashing tempreture sign and a warning triangle.
My phone wouldn't turn on again. Took the battery out again and then all my phone would do is put a circle sign on the srceen then a battery, still wouldn't turn on.
My phone randomly turned on 10 minutes later. But still made the battery sound just nowhere near as often.
Phoned orange up to get a replacement, and she told me she would arrange one the next day, she then said there was a problem with replacing them as there is a problem with all galaxy s2's.. or theres a problem with all the galaxy s2 replacements, one of the two.
So..what could be the problem with mine? and is it common?

Samsung just fixed mine for this same problem. Its a problem with the USB host. Basically bit of dust or moisture gets inside the charging port. They will fix it if you take it for repair, or you can do it yourself, if you search on this board you'll find out how.
Mine has now broke a 2nd time though since getting it back a week ago, as mine now wont turn on at all...
These phone makers should give up, or maybe i'm just unlucky.
Never seen this issue on my S2 which I have been using since August last year. I can't see the replacement having the same issue. Fingers crossed.

Its a very common problem. All over the web.
Ah I'm glad about that, this is my second galaxy s2 and I only got it in like September last year, so thought she wasn't going to give me a replacement then lol. I swear these are poor build quality... my last one had poor problems such as the screen not being level (Glass sticking up at left side) and problems like that which is just poor lol. Love the phone however...
Build quality seems to be very poor of these phones, which is ashame, because the phone itself is really really good. Like I say common problem, they will fix it.
Ah cheers, will try to go through Orange when they phone me back tomorrow as I dropped mine a while ago and it's got a rough bit on the corner so I'd prefer a nice new one
My build quality is fine and few users report your problems out of the millions sold .
Dust or moisture in any USB port can cause problems .

Mine started doing the same after less than a month, would make the charge dis-charge sound constantly and I couldn't turn the phone off as it would turn back on.
cleaning out the charging port temporary fixed the problem, but after a few weeks it started happening again.
I brought my phone on 12 Nov 2011 and I returned it to Amazon UK on 23rd January 2012 using Amazons extended return policy around the Christmas period.
I have had the replacement for getting on 3weeks now and this phone has been okay and I have noticed that the battery life is quite a bit better than the other one was.
I did contact samsung before returning it to Amazon but got a useless reply.

Note just crashed...hard

I've had my note for almost two weeks now. This afternoon, I was using it as I always do, mostly mail, some web stuff and music - thus no extended gaming, etc to overheat the GPU.
I put it in my pocket, removed it several minutes later and it was completely dead - and I couldn't even turn it back on. It wasn't banged around or anything, and there was at least 50% charge in the battery. I opened the back, removed and replaced the battery. Still nothing. I tried again about 20 minutes later, and it powered up as normal. And it has been since.
Is this weirdness that happens occasionally to current gen android phones? Anyone else have similar issues? Should I try to exchange it?

thats odd. is it stock? if not, you should list everything you did to the phone. If you had it overclocked, maybe it overheated and shut down so as not to fry the chips?
Yeah, all's still stock. I've not even rooted yet.
Same thing happened to me with a skyrocket that I had. Except I did have it rooted running sky ics rom. And I had it plugged into the charger. So...maybe not quite the same thing...sorry. lol
I just went to the store and swapped it out for a new one. No questions asked within 30 days.

Then once all was booted up i put it to sleep to make the drive home only 15 min away i did notice the the phone was hot in my pocket but screen wasnt on. Pulled out my phone and it didnt turn on. I pluged in the the usb and it powered up normal.
Well its a new toy, they will have bugs and they will fix them. So far so good. I did get the juice defender app, seams to be.working.out.great went all day and still had 75% power when I got home.

My phone does get warm from time to time (on the back right below the camera lens), though I didn't notice it before the crash. Is this heat normal?
Only thing i did have is a random reboot once...thats about it.
Galaxy Note
My only odd experience is after unplayable Asphalt 6HD for a little while, and phone does get warm. After I close the game I get nothing. Blank screen and take a few minutes to come back to life and when it does it as if it went through a soft reboot.

UPDATE - problem has not gone away. It seems to be (at least partially) related to a malformed battery contact. Exchanging for a new one tomorrow.
I'm a light user throughout the day. Charged my phone to 100% before I left for work today. On my way home, I used my phone a lot. I visited websites that had a lot of content. I was pinching and zooming and the phone crashed/restarted on me. Same thing happen 10 minutes later. I was using the phone for about 20 minutes non stop prior to this to happening. The phone was in the upper 50s (56%-59%). The phone was getting noticeably warm on the back cover, but not to point where it was burning hot.
This doesn't happen to me during my lunch when I use the phone non-stop for a full hour. My phone is stock, not rooted. Had for about 1 1/2 week now.

[Q] ATT Mega overheating issues?

Hello, just wanted to post here and see if anyone else was having similar experiences with their phone.
So I have the ATT Mega, and it has been working fine for a little over a month now from when I first got it, love the phone. Last week or so, I noticed the battery would seem to drain much faster then usual and the back top part of the phone, where the camera lens is, would heat up very badly even when not using it.
I tried killing apps, restarting, nothing seemed to work. I checked the app manager and the battery stats, nothing out of the ordinary but the drain was there and the heat was so bad you really didnt want to hold it.
I contacted ATT and they sent me a replacement which I received last night. I turned it on and was trying it out and within minutes that phone started heating up in the same spot too.
They didnt send me a new battery because oddly enough the battery or that entire area in the back would not get hot at all, only the top half.
I contact them again today and they said they would send me a battery to try but I am scared it will not work again.
I also have a 64gb SD card that I use, but it is the same one I have used in my Note 2 and now this phone with no problem. I am currently using a Note 3 with the same SD and have no issues.
I would love to go back to my Mega though, I actually prefer it to my Note 3 but I am worried about this issue reoccuring or not getting fixed in the first place. Anyone else have anything similar to this with their Mega??
Mike
I have noticed it gets warm, but only when streaming videos. Just browsing the web or listening to music/iheartradio, nothing gets uncomfortable. I just notice the warmth after many minutes of streaming. Not uncomfortable either. Now I do have a case on it, so maybe that's why it doesn't seem as bad.
I have an i9205, but it's basically identical hardware. I've never had any overheating issues of any kind. Recently I've been running the "performance" CPU governor too, which locks the CPU at 1.7ghz constantly and yet I've never been able to make the phone throttle itself back.
Thanks for the responses! I am having ATT ship me a replacement battery to try that, hopefully it arrives today. I just dont understand why it would heat up so badly on both my original phone and their replacement one for me. I would think it has to be the battery or the SD card, but the card has no issues in my Note 3 and it didnt have problems in my original Mega for a month.
Crossing my fingers that it is just the battery so I can go back to using my Mega, I miss it -.-
I noticed my Mega getting warm in the same location last night, but didn't have battery drain. This is a replacement Mega since I bricked my pervious one, but never had that problem with that phone. Today, after being fully charged and not used while at work, I checked my phone and it was 15% and warm. So I turned off WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth and plugged it in a 1 amp charger, 13% and still warm after a few minutes. Airplane mode, 12% and still warm after a few minutes. Turned the phone off and charging for an hour, phone is cool and 37% (makes since). Phone has been on, charging, and WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth turned off for 43 minutes, phone is cool and 56%. Now I'm turning WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth on individually to see if it repeats. I'll keep you posted on my results.
Thanks! I will wait to see your results!
Ive no issue with mine...
Well, sorry to say, it's been almost a month of me playing with this phone trying to duplicate my one time overheating with no luck. I've WiFi streamed for hours, transfered huge files over BT, viewed videos, and anything else I can think of with nothing. Maybe it was a fluke...who knows.

Zero issues here
Its been 2 weeks since I got mine and I noticed the phone getting hot around the camera but it suddenly started being normal with no heating. Will try for few more weeks to see what is the temperature level

My friend kind of had the similar situation... in his case he changed the phone
My Samsung Galaxy 6.3 is getting hot on the ear piece and the back of the phone where the camera lense is. What's the problem? I need to know if I need a new battery or if it's the Motherboard I need to replace and will the phone blow up in my face till I fix this problem?

Battery error on charging screen, looks serious.....

OK, so I'm going to be upfront about this. I'm using the Zerolemon extended battery, not the stock battery. The phone isn't dead, it does boot up and I can get into recovery, fastboot, download mode, etc. But when I boot up the phone, I sometimes get an "Invalid battery, shutting down" message after about 20 to 30 seconds. I'm currently running stock rooted MM 20J. I've gotten this error multiple times before when I was running Lollipop, much less so on MM. It didn't start getting bad until about a week or so ago. And seems to be getting worse. But that's not the biggest issue.
Now, for the 2nd time in a few days (and never encountered before this), where it is supposed to show a normal charging icon on the charging screen (when the phone is turned off and plugged in), instead it shows something that definitely isn't normal. I've gotten the invalid battery numerous times, but never this. I tried taking a pic with another device, but the pics came out blurry, static-filled, and smudged with fingerprints. So I'll just describe it:
It is a pic of 2 batteries side by side, the one on the left has a ? in the middle and a red flashing slash going through the middle of it. The one on the right looks normal, says LG in the middle. Both sides also say to refer to user's guide. Either way, it's not good.
Sometimes the percent of battery left will change wildly, more than a few times Android has said it is at X percent, then suddenly it's a lot lower in the span of a few seconds to a few minutes. I'm talking drops in the double digits. Ocassionally the value displayed will be higher than before. The "invalid battery" seems to happenly frequently thereafter, until I plug in for a few hours to get to 100%, then I don't see it again for most of the day.
I've had (this) phone for only a few months. When I bought the first v10 about 6 months ago, it initially came with Lollipop. I had to exchange that device a short while later in a T-Mo store, in exchange for another v10 also running LP. Well, that one had issues too, so a short time later I brought it back into the store again and exchanged for the v10 I currently have now, which already had MM. 3 identical phones in 6 months is just ridiculous. And I was able to do all this without using insurance (even though I do have insurance if I ever need to use it).
I do still have the stock battery, I suppose I can use it for now. I've had the Zerolemon itself since I bought the first v10, almost 6 months. I do believe it has a 6 month warranty if I'm not mistaken, which is almost over, maybe I can get it replaced. But I tried contacting their support a few months ago to see about an exchange, they never contacted me. I tried again after that. Still no response. I cant afford to replace it just yet, either via exchange or buying a new one, but will do so (the latter) if it comes down to it. I read somewhere that the "invalid battery" comes from the battery not being seated properly, or the gold/copper contacts being dirty, I've tried reseating as well as cleaning them, no luck. I have no idea what might be causing the error message on the charging screen, my best guess is that the battery is defective or worn out.
I also have 2 original LG fast charger cables/bricks, I've been having trouble using either cable to copy files to/from my PC, it sometimes will just disconnect for no reason (never while flashing, but I don't trust it). I'm beginning to think that the cables/bricks might be bad, or worse, that the phone's charging port is bad. I'm hoping not because I might as well throw it in the trash if the latter is the case.
Not sure what to do at this point, but this is getting to be a big headache.
Edit: Forgot to say but I've never gotten any of these issues with the stock battery.
If i were to guess it is due to the aftermarket battery being 2 batteries in series and one of the two is failing, i haven't had a similar experience in android nor seen the icon(s) you described before
But yeah, get the warranty exchange, probably best to stick with stock battery until then as well

Hi mate
Terrible news, sorry, for what you said it seems like what is really dead is the screen ( bad also) , if you had access from pc and could flash firmware the rest seem to be ok
2 month old? take i back!!
Similar thing happened to my S21+ last month. Pre-ordered it when it was announced, and mid-June it decided to give me the black screen of death. I could still receive phone calls, and it still connected to my watch, but the screen was dead. Thankfully, AT&T sent out a replacement overnight. Not a pleasant experience, and really my first bad hardware related issue with Samsung since my "green vertical line" issue on my old S7 Edge.
