Current L ROM with Viper audio - Verizon LG G3

I tried getting Viper audio working today and pretty much hosed my Google Music. I have been running ressurection ROM for a while now which uses AudioFX and I grew tired of the lack of audio options. Also every time I reboot or even just randomly during the day my network drops and I have to choose another APN (although it never actually changes it just prompts the LTE to reconnect) which is super annoying.
So I read up on it flashed some IPS changed some settings and now Google won't play music which is my primary music player.
Any chance you guys can tell me which lolli based ROMs (without the LG skin) either are cooked with or have worked with Viper & Google music?

I've used the lolliviper.zip file located below many many times on AOSP based ROM's (including CM12.1) and never had an issue with it, aside from sometimes needing to download the selinux mode app to change selinux to permissive (although the OP now says if superSU is used then you don't need a full permissive kernel). Either way, it should work on all LP based ROM's including RR.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/discussion-viper4android-t2543796

Thanks. I did try with superSU first, then Busybox/selinux method, guessing there's just a menagerie of issues. I'm going to try Orion (did see it when I was searching around specifically for Viper before). Ty for replying

DL link and Thoughts on Miui 4.1 for the HTC Evo 4g LTE

Miui 4.1 has been released for our device and has a currently stable (minus the initial F/C on JB roms, already widely known)
Miui is a wonderful rom that attempts to be as original as possible, and as customizable as possible, The dialer, music app, gallery app, messaging app, settings, Root Access Manager, virus scanner, firewall, Settings, ringtones, notifications, status bar, launcher, lockscreen, icons, Rounded screen, wallpapers, themes, weather app, notes app, (blah blah blah, much more) are all SPECIFIC to the Miui rom, and are different, and feel original, and completely separate from the plain roms we normally see (Sense, ICS, JB, PA <--->.>) Which all use the same launchers, with slight modifications. The Miui rom feels unique to all others, and really made me want something new, and it delivered, by giving me EVERYTHING new.

I want to post this in order to explain to people some problems/issues with this rom. I was very excited to receive it on my phone however there were issues on the latest version that I must point out for people looking to download this, and I hope this is seen by those of you who are also experiencing this issue which you no doubt are if you are using the latest (or any in the month of November) version.
ALL of the November versions of this rom have a flaw so before you continue reading, the last working version of miui is the 10/26/2012.3 version, any versions after this version have the flaw that you will be made aware of before you view this message.
The latest 11/26/2012 version of this rom has the following errors that will complicate REGULAR phone use.
-Browser: The Miui Browser on this rom will F/C (force close) upon touch after the initial bookmarks screen.
-to elaborate further, If you go to any website in the browser, and then attempt to touch any part of the website, the browser will F/C.
-Browser Based Loading Apps: Any app that attempts to open a website to have you view information from it will also F/C upon touch.
-Permissions Manager: The part of the permissions manager that asks for root access is broken, and will cause permissions manager to constantly F/C.
-This breaks the Miui toolbox app and the themes app, they will not function on the latest version of this rom.
-The hardware menu button is not available in the latest version of miui, unable to change wallpaper without using themes application.
Tests implemented to make sure this was not user error: (attempted each separately)
-Kernel replacement
-Re-installation
-Older Miui version Kernal Replacement
-Dev. Options editing
-Latest Gapps Update.
-Different, and Altered TWRP versions
-Different formatting settings inside of TWRP
Regular phone usage issues:
-This will prevent you from using ANY market available android browser on the phone, and the Miui browser.
-This will prevent you from using the Miui toolbox, and most miui themes.
-This will prevent you from using a large number of apps that require internet access.
-This will prevent you from using any available Root Access Required Application.
-This will prevent you from changing your wallpaper, or accessing the menu in any application.
The Previous Versions of this rom (uploaded in November) have the following issues that will complicate REGULAR phone usage.
-The browser will F/C upon receiving touch input from the user on a normal website.
-Any application requiring direct website access will F/C upon receiving touch input from the user.
-There are no Permission Manager issues with the previous November releases of this rom.
-No way to toggle menu button, no way to access menu
Tests implemented to make sure this was not user error: (attempted each separately)
-Kernel replacement
-Re-installation
-Older Miui version Kernal Replacement
-Dev. Options editing
-Latest Gapps Update.
-Different, and Altered TWRP versions
-Different formatting settings inside of TWRP
Regular phone usage issues:
-No way to access the internet via ANY market available browser, or the Miui Browser.
-A large number of apps that require internet usage will no longer work on this device.
-This will prevent you from changing your wallpaper, or accessing the menu in any application.
Latest working version of Miui: 10/26/2012.3
-.3 must be specified, as the versions released before .3 have a random constant soft-reboot issue at start of OS. (you generally will not make it to set up email before this begins)
-the .3 version of the 10/26/2012 rom has none of the previously listed issues in this post.
-However I must specify, that although I have not done testing to fix this issue, GPS does not seem to be working on this version of the rom.
I want to apologize to the OP, and or Dev. if this came off as Insulting, or offensive in any way. I know that making this must be difficult and I in no way mean to offend. I absolutely love this rom in every way, As I always will and have been a fan of MiUi. The thought of it being close to working on my device is incredible, and I do want to thank you very much for bringing this opportunity to me.
That being said, Changing the OP to include a (I must assume) untested (since the start of November) version of this rom is disappointing. I have gone through and proved, atleast to myself, That this is not user error, if you have any information proving otherwise, or any information at all on how to fix the latest version of your rom I would greatly appreciate it. I want to inform you that this post is an attempt to support your rom, while there may be a section of these forums to post errors that are found, the unknowing people who visit this forum will very likely download the latest version of this rom, claim it unusable, and not check for a working version. The next step is a rumor is spread, keeping people from attempting the rom, and the last step is the motivation deprivation caused will cease development of this rom, which I sincerely do not wish to see happen, as based soley on the 10.26.2012 rom I have become a fan of this project.
Please continue the great work you have done to provide Miui to the Htc Evo 4g Lte or HTC Jewel users of this world. And I hope to hear back from you promptly

Wrote down as I was going, if anyone would like me to test something for them that isn't in the list of 55 things I tested feel free to ask. I don't mind as I am actively trying to find issues with this rom as there seems to be some back and fourth conversation over it. Im running out of things to think to test, so any ideas im open to try.
Yeah, Check out the Start of the Link
The link has spaces to prevent it from being a link, put it back together and copy into url for the Forum location of this rom.
This entire, Long, thought-out, time consuming post relied on you being able to view that link, without that ability, I would not be able to post this, long, thought-out, and time-consuming post, that contained valuable information to obtain Miui on your Htc Evo 4g Lte, and to help the regular development of this rom continue, while giving a spark back to the evo that while many roms may have been tested, all felt the same, which was a little bit of a let down for you, as it was to me.
I want to quickly state that I mean no offence to the developers of all other roms for the htc evo 4g lte as I have tried them all and have some that I love, and some that I have mixed feelings for. I am simply putting this information out there so this rom also has the ability to develop as well as yours has, as I am sure even you can admit, that the Miui rom is a rom that is greatly desired for this phone. All of your roms had their different features, different mods, different mod packages, updaters, even for one, it had its own app installer, and Battery usage customization to improve battery life (venom). I am simply posting this for those out there, who have tried every rom out there, and still seek something to fall in love with.
Thank you very much for viewing this post, and I hope you all have a wonderful day.
Wow..
Thanks for the write up. I do miss MIUI and development has been excruciatingly slow, tho I know hard work is being put in.
I won't give up stable, fully functional roms for it right now, but I do hope it progresses into a daily before this phone becomes to outdated. I have my doubts because I hear rumblings of how difficult it is to bring MIUI to some of these phones these days, which is unfortunate.
Cheers

Yeah, what do you want me to say. There hasn't been a stable, daily driver miui.us build for the Evo LTE, yet. I have flashed just about all of them. Posted multiple logcats. If i remember right there were a couple of us who were getting a LOS on the October builds.

this is a good build, i have been running it since it dropped, with no major issues.
Thank you for viewing my post.

I want to thank you for viewing my post, and especially for replying to it quickly. I would like to state that everything I have found other than gps (which is currently untested) and the initial (only at start) F/C that the 10/26/2012.3 version of this rom is currently fully operational, and I am using it as a daily as I to love Miui and was excited to try miui 4.1. The only Miui feature that, that specific version, of the rom is currently lacking, is the Miui Camera. Otherwise, the 10.26.2012.3 release of this rom is fully functional and to the extent of my knowledge, usable as a daily driver, as long as you are ok with the initial F/C at boot that most JB roms have been experiencing.
To download this specific version of the rom, you may find the exact download link to the 10.26.2012.3 release of it here
http:// goo .im /devs/miui/jewel
just take away the spaces. I am of course in no way attempting to force you to try the rom, this is entirely your decision of course. Simply stating that this release of the rom, to my knowledge, is stable, and working for me currently as a daily driver. I will update the OP with information in regards to GPS soon.
Thank you for viewing my post.

the 2.10.19 build of this rom may be currently functional, I however am one to be closer to the latest stable and functional update, which is the 10.26.2012.3 release of the rom, to my knowledge, I do not see anything wrong with this version of the rom, and the link to all downloads for this rom have been posted.
Thank you for viewing my post, and replying promptly. I did not get far enough to thoroughly test the 10.19 version of the rom, as while backtracking the 10.26 version was the one that worked correctly for me, and I have not gone backwards from there, the download link for the 10.26 version of this rom has been posted, and if you would like to see if any improvements were made since that version be my guest.
If you do so, please let me know of any changes you may notice from 10.19 to 10.26.
Thank you, and have a wonderful day.
Thank you for replying to my post.

I would like to thank you for replying to my post, and I would like to state that I am currently using the 2.10.26.3 release of the originally posted rom as a daily driver, and have found no real issues with it at this time. If you have any issues that I may not have noticed I would definitely like to hear them. I haven't had anything not work for me yet, other than the general JB download speed slowdown, that is currently experienced on every rom currently supporting JB, and GPS detecting my location slower than sense (which can also be said about every other JB rom)
As of right now I am happy with the ROM and thought that I had conveyed that the rom was functional in my OP. Any information related to errors you have noticed or heard of that I may be able to test and attempt fixing personally I would greatly appreciate.
Thank you very much for the edit on your post. It was much more informative than "yeah"
Important Information Removal From Miui.us Site.
I would like to inform you that my original post on the Miui.us rom's forum has been removed. I attempted in this post to convey that posting a non working version of the rom as the first clickable download link was not the right action to get people to try this rom if they wanted to and receive a good experience.
To be clear, and to re-state.
The 2.10.26.3 version of this rom from what I can see, has no errors other than ones that have already been noted as JB errors for this device. such as the initial F/C that goes away after clicking on it twice and generally does not pop back up. Slower GPS point locating which is known to be a JB error for this device, it will still locate you, just not as quickly. and a Slower overall download speed, which can also be tied to JB for this device.
As far as the rom goes, excluding the normal JB errors, the 2.10.26.3 version of this rom, from what I can tell, is fully functional, and the download link is listed in OP.
any of the November releases or 2.11.anything currently have errors that jeopardize regular phone usage. Such as a non functional browser, and a non functional Root Access Manager (Which is like SuperSU and Super user, but MiUi specific, also not the exact name)
I am simply making sure that this information is conveyed, as this IMHO is the latest, daily, usable, stable, functional, version of this rom.
Thank you again, and I apologize for having to make my point, so many times.
Fyi, you can open the permissions manager and manually give apps root access. It's just the initial request for root that will break it. It's in the tools folder in the launcher. As well, someone posted instructions for remapping the menu key on both the miui.us thread and we figured it out on the other miui thread on here.

Thank you for replying to my post. Did you happen to fix the browser F/C's, With every browser? cause im a tad more interested in that. For root, I also looked at doing something like that, but I don't know why I would when the 2.10.26.3 release already had that working.. im unsure what was so necessary that they had to break their root app. Im unsure about the menu key, but if its already in settings Im fairly certain there was no option to remap to menu, cause I tried that. if its in the toolbox however, it wasn't working cause my root app wasn't working (of course I could have constantly re-installed the rom, and then manually gave root permissions to the toolbox app (which is a downgrade from normal android) After re-assigning the recent apps to menu, but that is too much of a hassle to go through on a freaking smart phone , and I sure as hell don't want to mess with something that broken to get it to work, when the 2.10.26.3 version didn't have this issue. If it wasn't in the toolbox and I had to manually go in and edit something to get the menu remapped, then again I must state, why not just go with the 2.10.26.3 version of the rom. I am totally at a loss here, what was so broken in 2.10.26.3 that required breaking the working rom to fix? I have everything working fine on my rom without having to do anything to get it there. Do I need to make another post to see what people were having a problem with? if I do please inform me promptly. The ability to browse the internet via a browser, is one of the main reasons people first get a smart phone. If that's broken, What did I get a smartphone to do? play some games? there are other things for that, that are portable and have better games. I know that the Miui.us rom that I want, isn't a broken rom that was worse than its previous release a month ago.
Please if you could be so kind as to tell me what you thought was wrong with the 2.10.26.3 release I would very much like to hear it. Im not being sarcastic, I seriously want to know. Why break what isn't broken to fix it?
I stand by my original point made in the OP, the 2.10.26.3 release wasn't broken, so don't download a broken release. If you are looking to get this wrong, don't settle for less than perfect, by downloading a rom that is made for you to fix it, when the dev could have fixed it himself.
Thank you very much, and I hope you have a wonderful day.

The latest stable version of this rom is the 10.26.2012.3 release of the rom, the version listed on the OP (11/26/2012 release) has many issues that will greatly complicate regular phone usage, and cannot be accepted as a stable release, nor a daily driver. To explain shortly...
Broken versions of this rom: (any in November are not currently working correctly)
-No Browser from the market, or the Default will work.
-Root access is broken, Cannot grant root access to any app, even system apps.
-No menu, no way to toggle menu.
-incorrect theming
-constant Permissions manager F/C
---
the 2.10.26.3 release of this rom has working browser, and working root access, already set menu button, working themes and no F/C's other than the initial one at first boot.
I would like to state again, the 2.10.26.3 release of this rom is stable, and fully functional to my knowledge. Gps, remains untested for now, I will update this thread with information relating to its functionality at a later date, the direct download link for this rom is

Very interesting as I was about to post something about the lens edition of the lens Miui before checking on my OP. Thank you for bringing that up as I am just about to uninstall the lens version of this rom, and re-install the miui.us 2.10.26.3 version of the rom in the OP. The Lens rom is gaining progress fast, and I would urge everyone to check it out, but it is currently much less stable than the version of Miui.us listed in the OP, even with its latest 2.11.30 update, so if you are looking for a daily driver, then the one I am looking it is the one currently listed in OP, HOWEVER, I will be switching back to the Lens Miui rom when they get the thing a bit more stable because I honestly trust the developer to do so in a short amount of time.
I will be updating my OP shortly.
I apologize.
I was looking at my OP and I realized it was a tad too long to continue to add a long definition of the current LENS Miui Release. I will be posting anew.

[MOD] ViperFX + MegaBassBeatsv3 Audio Mod Combo

UPDATE 6/3/13
As a flashaholic and a musician, I've been on the search for the perfect audio mod for my phone ever since I first rooted my device and realized such things even existed. I've tried them all, from AwesomeBeats to AC!D Audio, and I've had generally good experiences with them.
However, I did some research and found out that the "conglomeration" of all the different apps and mods within each of them may actually be conflicting with each other to the point that the clarity/bass/quality may actually be getting limited or reduced. (I encourage you to read the info posted in the source threads below, as they offer an interesting insight into how their respective mods work, and what makes them different from the "all-in-one" mods like AC!D)
After using AC!D for a long time, I began to foray into some other options that have recently been developed by the genius folks in the XDA community...and ended up stumbling upon this combination of mids pretty much by chance. However, the instant I landed on it I completely abandoned my seemingly never ending search for the perfect audio mod (or at least the perfect combination, as AC!D seemed to have a different effect (therefore requiring different tweak setups) on every ROM I flashed.
When I flashed MegaBassBeatsv3 only, the bass was ridiculous and grinding but everything else kinda took the back seat (losing some of the mids and highs that make certain songs... Radiohead's Amnesiac and OKComputer albums, for example). When I flashed Viper only, I had a fantastic spectrum of sound and clarity but the bass was lacking (ineffective for the dubstep and rap songs that I may or may not listen to on occasion).
So, even though both mods didn't really advise users to combine with other mods, I figured what the hell. Installed them both, and sweet Jesus - best sound quality I've ever had on both Bluetooth (in my car) and headphones. This was also a frustration I was having with AC!D, that sometimes it would work great in my car but then it would be iffy on my headphones...other times it would be the opposite.
Just some minor EQ tweaks on PowerAmp, and I can now sit back and listen to an infinite array of music genres, on both Bluetooth and headphones, and not have to give a second thought to tweaking anything after my initial setup (of which I set up on Viper and Poweramp only once, and then restore data on those two apps from my Nandroid backups using TiBu).
NOTE: In no way am I a developer, and I had ZERO to do with the actual building of these mods - the mods below are 100% the intellectual property of their respective contributors (see the links below for the original threads on XDA) - I am simply trying to share my setup with others to hopefully improve their music listening experience like mine has.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. You must be rooted.
2. I would RECOMMEND being on ICS firmware or above. I have implemented this mod successfully on both stock ICS ROMs as well as every 4.2+ ROM that is currently available for our device (EDIT: Although I no longer have this device, this mod has been reported working on JB-Official 4.1.2), I just haven't tried on GB. You're welcome to try, I just won't attest to its effectiveness as I have not tried it. Just make sure you grab the appropriate mods based on ICS or JB (there are links to both below).
3. I have been using PowerAmp (available on the Play Store) the entire time I've tested these. Not sure how other players would handle them, but you're welcome to try. If you do use PowerAmp, make sure (a) the Direct Volume Control (DVC) option is switched OFF, and (b) make sure the "enable MusicFX" is turned ON. Google is your friend if you don't know how to do either one of those.
4. All the usual stuffs, you assume the risk, I'm not responsible (nor are the original devs) if you brick your phone, or if you pass out while driving due to the overload of beautiful music coming from your speakers, yadda yadda.
I've attempted to make it super easy to flash by baking both mods into a 4.2.2 AOSP-based (that is very important - don't flash this package if you are on ANY stock ROM) GAPPs package that I flash on each wipe. There is a link to this package below...in which I also have Google Keep and the new Play Store apk in here, as well as some of the other apps that I don't use (Google+, etc) taken out because I always use TiBu to remove them anyway. If you aren't one to flash random zips, feel free to open them up and then open up the original mod zips from the threads below...nothing more added than what's in there. EDIT: It's been a little while since I've updated this, so some of the apps in the package may be outdated.
4.2.2 GAPPs: http://db.tt/FNI7lVgo
ViperFX apk (update v2208):
http://d-h.st/Ctm
UPDATED 6/3/13
Extract the "ViPER4Android_FX_2208_Android4.x_en.zip" from the zip you downloaded above (yes, you read that correctly). Then extract the contents of this zip to your sdcard, and navigate to the extracted files. Click on the "ViPER4Android_FX.apk" file and proceed with installation as you would any other downloaded app.
Instructions:
1. Flash your ROM (clean install preferred...if not just wipe cache/dalvik-cache, dirty flash your current ROM, then flash the GAPPs)
2.Flash GAPPs
3. (ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT USING MY CUSTOM GAPPS) Flash MegaBassBeats.
4. (IF YOU USED MY CUSTOM GAPPS) Install the ViperFX app (only that one, not the XHiFi one that you'll find in the thread below as I didn't have much luck with both of them installed at once).
5. Install *updated 6/3* Viper apk from link above. No need to follow any additional instructions like before, just install the app, choose the Neon9 driver when prompted, and reboot. It's as simple as that now
6. DELETE MusicFX.apk from /system/app. DELETE DSPManager.apk from /system/app.
7. Reboot.
8. If you want to replicate my Viper setup, see the link below to a flashable zip I made that SHOULD give you the settings on Viper that I've had success with. ONLY flash that file after you've installed Viper.
9. Also, download this file (http://www.mediafire.com/?9am1sogfq9lm31d ), create the following folder path ( /sdcard/ViPER4Android/Kernel/ ) if it doesn't exist already, then extract the convolver files in the linked zip to the "Kernel" folder in order to enable the Convolver. Two important things to note when doing this: (1) make sure sure the names of the folders are EXACTLY as listed above. If either one isn't spelled correctly, then Viper will not be able to find the files to use in processing. (2) It will not work if you place the files on your external sd card ("/external_sd/", "/storage/sdcard1/"). Depending on which firmware you're running, the correct path will look like "/mnt/sdcard/", "/storage/sdcard0/", or just "/sdcard/" if you're using Root Explorer.
Here are links to the respective threads so you can play around if you'd like:
MBB v3 (for JB ROMs):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31204141
MBB v2 (for ICS ROMs):

Viper:

So here is the zip that you can flash AFTER you install the Viper app itself that should give you the setup that I currently have for the app, if you wanted to at least start from there and tweak as you see fit based on your listening setup. (I just figured it took me a long time to finally get the right combo, I'd at least share it with everyone else to see if it would work for them)
http://db.tt/QRvCUlvp
Let me know if this works for you guys - again, I'm no dev by an means. But if you run into any issues with setting this up, feel free to post and I'll do my best to help. Or, if you have additional recommendations or experiences you'd like to share - they are welcome as well!
I forgot to mention, I do also have the EQ settings in Poweramp tweaked a bit. Here are screenshots of my setup:

}
NOTE: After you get Poweramp set up the way you like it, I recommend saving it as an EQ preset by hitting the "Preset" button (see the third screenshot) and then hit save...you can then name it whatever you want (as you can see on the 1st two screenshots, I have mine saved as "Driving Viper", as you can set it to automatically switch EQ presets based on what type of device you're using to actually listen to the music - i have the lower freqs tuned just a bit lower while I'm connected to Bluetooth, as my Bose headphones handle bass a little healthier than my car speakers. Conversely, I have another setting called "Headphones" that it automatically switches to when I'm physically plugged in to an audio jack).
Once you have the preset(s) saved, you can continue to flash ROMs if you want - just restore data on PowerAmp using TiBu (personally I always use the "extract from Nandroid backup" option in TiBu and then choose "restore data only" after already installing Poweramp, as opposed to just restoring data from the app backup list) and boom - your settings should be right back the way they were before you flashed the new ROM.
EDIT: Sorry it took so long, but here are my settings for Viper (headphone and bluetooth) for anyone who isn't having luck flashing my settings zip:

I feel this may be a noob question. I my self have been using acid it works on the 4.2.2 rom I'm running. My question is after reading the rom I use had gapps burned into it. What's needed to try this mod. I'm kinda confused. On which step to start at if you not flashing a rom. If that makes since. Sorry to take up space here....

No need to apologize at all, I enjoy talking about this stuff lol.
Sorry about the confusion, I knew it would take me forever to run through both methods in one post, so I just posted the method I used now. The answer to your question depends on a couple scenarios -
Scenario 1: The ROM you're talking about with the GAPPS baked in is "the ROM that shall not be named" (which is the only 4.2.2 ROM that I'm aware of that disregards Google's proprietary ownership of the apps included in the typical GAPPs packages). If that's the case, simply flash my GAPPs package from recovery and it will just overwrite any existing GAPPs, and you *shouldn't* run into any issues. Then proceed with the normal instructions steps.
EDIT: Just saw in your post that you are indeed running a 4.2.2 ROM, so I think I have an idea which one that is lol. Like I said, just flash the GAPPS package from recovery and then install the ViperFX app from the OP, and you should be good.
Scenario 2: You're running a stock ICS ROM (Blackstar, Padawan, Novena, etc) that appropriately has the GAPPs included. In that case, you'll need to follow the manual install instructions which, while are listed in the threads I linked in the OP, can get a little confusing. Here are my "simplified" instructions for those of you in this boat:
1. No need to reflash ROM obviously. Just start the process by booting into Recovery (probably still a good idea to wipe cache/dalvik-cache before you start flashing).
MegaBassBeats
2. Flash this MBBv2 zip (pulled from the linked thread): http://db.tt/I41DRcck
3. Wipe caches again. Fix Permissions. Reboot.
ViperFX
4. Install this file (also pulled from the thread above) as you would a normal apk (click from your file explorer, accept permissions and install): http://db.tt/7kWGYVPm
5. Open the app, click the "Install/Update" button. Allow Superuser access if it requests it.
6. Reboot.
7. Manually install the ViperFX apk (links in the OP, depending on the version of Android you're running). Same drill as in Step 4 above re: how to install.
8. For good measure, I'll open up TiBu and find the ViperFX app that I just installed, then use it to wipe app data and wipe app cache. You can also do this in Settings > Apps.
9. Using TiBu or your favorite file explorer, navigate to /system/app and delete the following files if they are present:
- MusicFX.apk
- DSPManager.apk
10. Reboot to recovery (optional, if you're wanting to flash my Viper settings zip; if not, just reboot the phone normally and you're good to go!).
11. Flash the Viper_settings zip from the OP. Fix Permissions. Reboot. Profit.
Ok Ive got a quick question Im very interested in this but wondering if I use Google Music to play all of my music is there anything special I need to do to have the EQ effects work properly on those songs
EDIT: And do you have tried the XHifi and V4A FX coexisting setup that I saw in the Viper thread.

I believe with the newer versions of GMusic there is an "EQ" button if you hit the menu button while playing a song...and if I remember correctly, it should then take you to the Viper settings as long as you deleted MusicFX.apk and DSPManager.apk from /system/app as I mentioned in the OP. If it does that, this means that the music player (Google Music or otherwise) is using the ViperFX settings as it's equalizer.
As far as the coexist, I did try it (mentioned briefly in the OP) but I found it to be overkill for the type of music I listen to and how I listen to it. There were some crazy cool effects available, but for my purposes it just made it worse. You're welcome to try though, every device and every user is different - so who knows!

Yea Ill probably start out simply with yours and see how it goes
First, Thank you for this awesome setup. I've followed the instructions you provided and everything seems to work just fine. I actually use Winamp & Google music as my main players. In Google music if you hit the EQ tab it'll direct right to Viper FX. I also installed your VIper Mod settings, although I don't know if they are applied. After I flashed the setting in Viper FX were still at default. I checked the screens you poseted in the 2nd post and tried my best to duplicate them for my headset, speaker, and bluetooth settings in Viper FX.
The results are phenomenal. The sound through the speaker is epic compared to the default sound. Really loud and crisp sounding, it's pretty neat to be able to play a song using the speaker and have other people in the same room be able to enjoy it also. I wasn't able to do this before.
I did have a question though, in the OP is says that some options were needed to do in PowerAmp player, I was wondering if you could look into Winamp and see if there are any similar settings I need to do to enable Viper FX. Or find a way to see if it's simply working with Winamp. Or, is the fact that Viper FX opens as the EQ for Google music proof enough that it's working for Winamp.
Again, thank you for all of this. I can use this immensely in my Jeep and through my home audio and love it!

No problem, glad you're enjoying it as well!
That's too bad that my Viper Settings zip didn't appear to work...because yeah if it did, then the settings in Viper wouldn't be at default. It was a shot in the dark to see whether or not it would work, so I guess my logic was off
Just curious though, do you remember if you opened the app up as soon as you installed, but prior to flashing the settings mod? This is purely conjecture (maybe some can fill me in), but it wouldn't surprise me if an app didn't create it's /data/data folders until AFTER it's opened got the first time? If so, then the zip definitely wouldn't work as it flashes the settings prefs into the Viper folder within /data/data - and if that folder doesn't exist yet, it would have nowhere to flash.
Now that you have opened it, do you think you could try flashing the zip one more time? If that doesn't work still, I'll just post screenshots of my setup on Viper.
On Winamp, I downloaded it and looked around a bit - but couldn't find any similar settings. I would say that as long as you go to Settings > Sound > Music Effects and it shows ViperFX, then that means the app is controlling the audio system-wide - and you should be good.
The way to make sure is to play a song with Winamp and, while it's playing, open up Viper and and turn it off and on. If you hear a difference in sound, then you know that it's tweaking your Winamp music.
Ok so I've never use these mods on their own a I don't know what settings they come with. I flashed the settings again and it defaulted to the original settings so I am assuming it worked. I was confused earlier thinking your player settings were the viper fx settings. There are a boat load of settings in viper fx although I'm not sure if your settings flash added them. I will be able to test the sounds more to make certain its working with winamp. I'll definitely be replying and updating with my results after. Thanks again for all your help.

Thanks for the audio mod! Sure blows Apollo and DSP out of the water. I flashed your viper settings also but all the settings were set to default when I went into the equalizer. It says my ROM doesn't support MusicFX so I don't have the option to check that?
If I want to add this package into another Google Apps package what should I move over Im going to try this with Slimbean that JamieD81 did

Sorry the settings didn't work...I'll post my Viper settings a bit later.
Where are you getting the message about your ROM not supporting MusicFX? Can you take a screenshot?
Not sure why it would even be saying that, as you don't need MusicFX to run the mod (in fact, you should have deleted it as part of the installation procedures for this mod).

Sorry I didn't explain that very well in my post. The step above is what I'm talking about. My enable MusicFX is blacked out and I don't have the option to check the box.

Disable direct volume control
I did disable dvc and it makes everything quiet and still doesn't allow me to enable MXmusic effects. Tried rebooting with dvc disabled and still no go. I followed the install steps and used the gapps link in the OP.

I installed the viperfx apk first. I had to delete the DSP and musicfx apk in twrp then i installed the gapps then rebooted. Then everyrhing worked in poweramp.

If its disabled, then it sounds like you don't have Viper installed (or at least not installed properly). Have you opened it up and verified that it runs?

Crap, I completely forgot to mention that in my instructions...I've had it disabled for so long (using AC!D previously) that I didn't even think about it. I'll add to OP.
EDIT: Heh. I guess I did add it in the instructions. *wipes off shoulder*

[Q] Nexus LouderBoom (AwesomeBEATS)

First of all, I'd like to say I'm glad to be on this extremely helpful forum with very intelligent members. I have been watching this forum for at least 2 years now to get up to speed on rooting and not being a noob so much. I have successfully rooted, troubleshooted, restored to stock, rerooted and added custom roms on my GSM/HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus from Google Play due to help on these forums and elsewhere and I am very grateful. Because I am new, I was not able to post this question in the forum I wish to, which I have mentioned below, until I reach 10 posts, so please do bare with me.
I have been on Android 4.1.2 due to a sound tweak rom by the name of Nexus LouderBoom.zip which installs the AwesomeBEATS sound equalizer enhancement to the ridiculously low volume of the Galaxy Nexus. I never updated to 4.2.2 for fear that it wouldn't work and also because the upgrades for that particular OS version weren't that necessary to me.
However, I did happen to stumble upon ...Awesome...'s thread on AwesomeBEATS™ v.5 and perused it's pages to see that many people are having success with it as it has now been to designed to work with pretty much any Android Jelly Bean operating system. So I decided to give it a go and update to 4.2.2 via OTA. Prior to the OTA update, I made sure I did a back up through Nexus Toolkit 1.6.3 as well as make a Nandroid backup via TWRP Custom Recovery.
The update went well and everything worked normally. I then applied the AwesomeBEATS v.5 rom via the recovery console and installed it. It had the option under the Sound Settings like it's supposed to. I then began customizing my sound preferences for Headset, Speaker and Bluetooth for which I momentarily noticed a sound change when manually adjusting the equalization in the "Speaker" while playing a song via Google Music. However, after switching to Bluetooth, the adjustments no longer registered and it seemed to bypass the fact that the tweak was installed on the phone. Even after turning off Bluetooth and going back to Speaker, it just didn't work anymore. I even tried to flash an older version (v.4) to no avail as it made the streaming from Google Music quit entirely. Because of this incompatibility, I had to revert back to my previous version 4.1.2 where I was able to utilize the Nexus LouderBoom.zip tweak which worked beautifully.
Looking back on why v.5 didn't work for me, I can only stop at this line in the instructions...
"*STOCK Rom (ROOTED but on stock rom. (ONLY SOUND FILES WILL INSTALL)"
Is the fact that the ONLY the sound files will install part of my problem? Or is there some other technicality I missed along the way?
Thank you so much for anyone who responds... or not.

[Q] Custom ROM's with Battery Charged Sound?

My apologies if this is the wrong spot, this seems like the best fit since it is not specific to any one Custom ROM...
My latest phone came with a feature to ding once the battery was charged 100%. I must have removed it's APK when I was debloating because I cannot find the stock option anymore.
I managed to get it back, via GravityBox, but now I want to have the same feature on my older device. It has a custom ROM on it, CarbonROM, that I am not afraid of building and flashing a different (yet still highly-customizable) ROM in it's place if need be.
Without blindly building and flashing ROM's looking for this feature (and Google search only turns up apps that I have tried and didn't like[1]), are there any custom ROM's that have this feature?
Many thanks for your input.
[1] One rang constantly, which I don't want. I am just looking for a simple ding (points go to having the feature being able to select the sound used). The other had ads (and no paid version), was bloaty, and the toast function (which I don't need) crashed. I could use GravityBox over there as well, but you are not supposed to use it on a custom ROM anyway (not that it has stopped me from running it on OptimusUI for my main device ). I should add that having an app, sort of ruins it for me because it's something so simple that it just takes up one more spot on the app drawer.

Bugfree Viper4Android

As most Viper4Android user's would know that on Poco with custom Rom, v4a stops working randomly (i.e. processing is NO in status) . The only thing which fixes this, is a simple restart. But however sometimes it's not back or stops working after a short time after the restart also, which is quite frustrating. I've not seen any explanation for this behavior anywhere although most face it. It's gotten worse with android 10 builds, I feel.
Curiously I've discovered a build i.e. crdroid v5.8 0919 build which doesn't have this issue. I'm not saying its 100% fixed here, but its almost 98% times, v4a will work without this bug for number of days at a stretch without restart.
I'm no dev, so can't be sure what this build is different from others but this one has livedisplay feature broken. I've always had a suspicion that its something related to live display as v4a will stop working if you enable grayscale in digital wellbeing.
If any dev or mr @gwolfu himself can help with this, it'll be really great. Or if a trade off is required between livedisplay or v4a, i'm pretty sure many users will accept it especially if it can be made as option through TWRP flash or magisk module
Viper works fine with 9 (PE and Miui), assuming you disable battery optimisation on the app itself.
James DSP works even better, for me. Just delete musicfx emwith twrp file manager.
Never got to work on 10, selinux permissive doesn't belong in 2020.
I envy those humans who don't know that they need viper4android in their life.

Interesting to know, battery optimization fixes it for you.
@viv29 Does this fix help you as well on a10 roms?
I just returned to crdroid v5.8 otherwise would have tested it myself
