[TEST] arter97 kernel for Note 5 - Galaxy Note5 Android Development

Since my Galaxy S6 kernel is now Note 5 kernel based, it seems supporting Note 5 will be easy.
I just spinned a build targeting the Note 5 including PhilZ Touch recovery.
If you're brave enough, please test and report.
Most of the things are same from my Galaxy S6 kernel except for few things such as DT2W(Knock-On) and LED control.
Once the testing is done, I'll close this thread and open a DevDB thread.
This kernel is for N920C!

Any results?

I tried to flash the boot image you posted for N920T in Flashify and phone stuck on Samsung boot screen. looking forward to getting this working I used your kernel on my S6 - loved yoru port of the Note 5 and the kernel and am really glad you are here now too!

Since no one opted-in for N920C testings, here's a test build for N920T.

Any possible to build Kernel for N9208 ..Thanks.

Downloaded and Flashed on N920T -
I remember this kernel from the S6 and I recall you saying that you needed to use PHIlz Recovery to flash your kernel - I didn't know for sure if you HAD to flash philz first - so I did just to be safe.
After flashing Philz Recovery, I got an error message that I had no root - flashed Super SU Beta 2.49 and fixed that.
Flashed kernel and booted up nicely. Running kernel right now - no issues as of yet.
Thanks for your work - the stuff you did on the S6 was exceptional - glad to see you here on the Note 5!

Good to know -thanks again very much. The real test for this kernel will be during phone calls. Other kernels have had reboot issues that seem to happen most of th time during calls. I did a few long phone call tests this morning - under 5 minutes each - and did not have any reboots - but will neeed to wait til later to make longer calls to see if it happens then.
THanks again for everything.

Great to see you here!!!
I tested your N920C kernel on my N920I.
Runs perfect without any issues. No reboots so far. Also not during call.

FIRST THINGS FIRST:
1) You need to be on stock marshmallow firmware. If you are not then please flash the official firmware through Odin first!
2) The ROM is set on Autoformat. That is it will wipe all your apps, settings, call logs etc. So first do a backup. I will always recommend a NANDROID BACKUP before flashing any ROM. However its will not wipe your internal storage
3) TWRP recovery for flashing. Download from here
1) Boot into TWRP recovery using Volume UP button + Home button + Power button simultaneously for upto 10 seconds.
2) Wipe your Data, Cache and Dalvik cache first before proceeding.. It may cause a bootloop if you don't.
3) Click on install from main menu and locate the downloaded ROM.
4) Select the ROM, flash and reboot.:good:
5) First boot time may vary from 5-20 mins to load. So please be patient.
6) If the keyboard doesnt show any word suggestions then please use another keyboard like the latest sony xperia keyboard from here. Its good looking as well as better than sammy's keyboard
I have made an attempt to make WiFi work on any firmware baseband. In case WiFi fails then i will recommend you to first flash the official firmware through odin before flashing TWRP and the ROM. Baseband versions are provided below.

Hello flashers!
I am proud to present you my latest work.
PhoeniX Reborn Kernel for Galaxy S5 G900F.

Users Pay Attention!
This kernel was built for:
- Galaxy S5 G900F
- Touchwiz 6.0.1
Do not use it on other devices because it might brick your device!
I take no responsibility for any damaged that might have been caused by using this kernel.

Overview:
PhoeniX Kernel was officialy introduced in PhoeniX ROM for Galaxy Note II.
Since then, PhoeniX Kernel was implemented in all PhoenIX ROMs.
So.. why do you release a new kernel? What is the difference between PhoeniX Kernel to PhoeniX Reborn kernel?
Well, there are many changes between linux 3.4.113 to the modified 3.4.0. I believe some user want stock experience as Samsung intended to.
So PhoeniX Reborn kernel is actually a stock base kernel with some tweaks and features.

PhoeniX Kernel V1 features:
- Built from Samsung Marshmallow Kernel Source Update XXS1CPK1 for G900F
- Built with Google's arm-androideabi-4.9 compiler
- Linux 3.4.0
- SELinux set to permissive in source code
- ExFat Support
- Samsung MM Official XXS1CPK1 Ramdisk
- init.d support
- Added Improved Fast Charge Support - Huge thanks to Faux123! You can control it via Trickster Mod app
- Fixed SELinux Memory Leak
- Enabled NTFS support- thank you andip71
- Enable USB OTG Ethernet support - thank you andip71
- Added Faux Sound Control - thanks to faux123 & ktoonsez
- Kernel Compression: LZO
- Increased entropy levels (both read and write)
- Disable restrict ROOT
- Double min-max Read Ahead
- disable crc to improve performance [andip71]
- No more "Kernel is not SEANDROID" warning at boot - huge thanks to kykint
- Added Network Speed Tweak
- Added frandom
- SELinux: revert Samsung hard enforcing
- Enabled Screen wake and sleep functions - special thanks to andip71 and ktoonsez
- Added Color control to adjust RGB color space + inverted mode - special thanks to andip71
- TCP Congestion changed to Westwood
- Added some kernel tweaks

Additional Notes:
This kernel was built to match PhoeniX ROM goals. Therefore, I am not going to include the following:
- Things I don't like.
- Things that can risk devices and are dangerous(Such as OC...).
- Experimental things.
- Gaming modules that are not included by Samsung(I am not a gamer, so I don't really care..)
- F2FS - causes compatibility issues and there is no need for that.
Flash at your own risk. I take no responsibility for any damaged that might have been caused by using this kernel.
I don't really care about benchmark results. Most stock kernels should have between 50K to 55K without OC. The most important thing is how you feel with this kernel. I can give you a patch that can get score of 120K but what is the point if the kernel has lags
Flash only on Touchwiz 6.0.1 ROMs.

The Phoenix Reborn kernel v1 is more stock than the Phoenix kernel v13.

I had to throw mine back in, quick fix but not ideal since I do daily data swap, Titanium restores seemed pointless also, a workaround would kick ass

strange.
i was on xxx but i thougt better to switch to alexndr since xxx said no longer ssupports (end of life).
i know he has made 5.8 cpk3 but he will do only as long not much to do, no grater changes to work on his mods in rom.
Im on xXx no limits rom 5.8a. Super stable. No issues at all. Thanks tamirda. This is the most stable kernel you have made. ?

I gave this a try, no success. After kernel installation I lost root, then I tried to flash SU 2.79sr1, but got some failure message in twrp while patching boot image, and at next reboot SU was not yet working.

NICE! a new ROM!
Just installed and booted, Here is my first impression
The ROM is very fast and does not heat up at all here under setup, Theres no mini lags or anything. Really good, I am quite surprised at the speed.
Amazing!

It's because you are using custom TWRP use the stock TWRP because custom ROM flashing is probably broken in that one you are using

It's probably just a typical thing. Touchscreen might not work for s8 or s8+ depends on what base rom is made. Than in most cases flashing custom kernel does the job.
.. so any 1 with TWRPed version of a DSE4 stock kernel [emoji1980]
