Icon resize option - Paranoid Android Features Development

I'm using PA 5.1 and I really appreciate the option to change dpi settings so the screen can take much more content now.
However the icons remain with the same sizes and are looking kind of blurry now. So if there would be a icon resize option as in the Launcher+ app, that would be a good feature to complete the dpi resize option.

Thanks, that of course is one option I am using currently. However I think it would be a good improvement to the standard launcher as well.
What needs to be done to make it an official wish for the standard launcher in PA? Do I need to post something somewhere?

It's about a 99.9999999% chance that it will not happen. We have zero plans to do anything with the launcher. It's just not worth our time and there are so many better options for a launcher out there.
When most of the users install their own launcher immediately after flashing it makes messing with a paranoid launcher a waste.

Launcher Pro bogging down?

It seems like LP bogs down SO much after a while.. to the point where everything hangs. I revert to the TouchWiz Launcher and it's like night and day, with the same widgets + feeds and updates.
What gives? Anyone else notice the same?
Yeah I notice it for sure. I haven't noticed it since the lag fix, but it has only been a couple days.
Launcher pro is way quicker than touch wiz for me. Before and after I applied the lag fix. I also try and reset my phone every other day our so.

I did one of the lagfixes but I undid it and decided to do a factory format. I don't notice much difference, except for when LP lags up the whole phone. I've gone back to the TWL and things are snappy again.

I've never seen the need to reset every other day. But I do notice LP seems really fast with transitions.. but there are some bugs here and there like the preview cards getting jumbled together and such.
Uh. use ADW Launcher? no problems with it with lagfix, I don't know why so many users of the Vibrant community dislike ADW Launcher and is mainly biased towards Launcher Pro.
the only thing i liked about ADW was the option to make more icons fit on the screen. other than that i think TWlauncher is smoother and less buggy. plus the multicons app does what i liked from ADW anyway
Lp is the best! I hate that adw replaces the menu> settings with its own preferences....stupid. Plus lp is faster than anything else

I have nothing against ADW, but I'm using LP right now so that's why I posed the question.
I use launcher pro for one reason. I love the calendar widget. I do notice that it gets a little laggy every once and a while and most of the time a reboot takes care of it.

Seems like you have a pretty big grudge against ADW Launcher. Using another launcher would "solve" your problem. What does LP have to offer that is making you stick with LP? Both are great launchers and the winner depends on the users' personality.
@disturk: It replaces the notifications button on the menu. Is notifications on your menu really necessary? Plus. I believe LP also replaces one button with Settings.
@bromat80: There are other alternatives to the widget, and if a launcher is lagging me then to my opinion it wouldn't be worth having if it lags. At least not until the developer fixes the problem. Try CalWidget as a alternative if you were to experiment with another launcher.

I was referring to being on the home screen..stock is menu, bottom right is settings for phone...lp keeps this whereas adw puts adw settings on the bottom right and moves phone settings to the bottom middle...(unless they've changed it..haven't used adw in a month)

I guess what I was getting to is that I like both ADW and Launcher Pro equally and what makes me choose LP is the calendar widget. The lag doesn't bother me. I was just pointing out that I do notice that it does get laggy and normally a reboot takes care of it.
I personally find Launcher Pro more elegant.
No lag that I notice.

Whoa whoa, whats with the attitude bro? if the OP likes a certain product and want to support it, he can do whatever he wants. It sounds like you are the one with the grudge against LP. I personally like LP because it does 3D App Drawer and 5 icons columns on desktop. AND it's fast as **** on my phone.

Yea, launcher pro all the way, my phone used to lag with touch wiz all the time.
LP here. Absolutely no issues at all. Incredible.
Hands down TouchWiz is most definitely the fastest launcher of them all. I see no reason to use third party launcher other than to customize a few things. Does TouchWiz look like the iPhone? Yes! Does the Vibrant overall look like a better version of the iPhone clone? Yes!! lol. Do I love my Vibrant with all of my hear? *$#@ YES!!! but that is besides the point I am trying to get at
Launcher Pro sucks in my opinion, and is much much slower than TW. You can tell by that it takes a few seconds longer to initially load the icons when going into Applications. Transitions just aren't as fast either.
ADW is probably a tad bit faster, but you still can not compare it to TW. I do wish that I had an option to go back and forth between stock and TW. Hopefully that will be made available in 2.2.
I would say stick with TW, make life easy
You can change the speed at which the applications load in the drawer on lp. I don't think anything is farr than instantaneous
I prefer lp because I don't like the side to side scroll in the app tray. I have my speed set higher than the default values for lp and experience no lag.

[Q] Any way to change the app drawer?

Has anybody found a way to replace the app drawer for a rooted user? I dislike the screen based grid and would rather have a scrolling grid.

Get Go launcher EX from Market it is free it have 5-7 types ( you can change theme also I use Honeycomb theme with it)
In the Market, type in 'launcher', there are loads of replacements which have loads of settings etc.
I recommend launcher pro, or launcher7.
Launcher7 is really sexy
Thanks for the suggestions, but these change the GUI more than I want. I only want an app drawer replacement.

In that case I'd go with 'ravitejas' suggestion of Go Launcher. It looks similar to touchwiz and you can change the app draw to scrolling type. It just takes a bit of messing about with lots of settings...
Or if you'd like an actual list of apps you can press menu when you're in the app drawer and select list view...

Unfortunately, my Galaxy S II does not have the list view for some reason. That would have been a decent solution. Oh well.. can't make the phone the same in every market it seems.
What about solutions that work with rooting? I did root the phone awhile back, hoping that I could use this to my advantage. So far, no real use.
Weird that yours doesn't have a list view option...
Can't help you beyond stock rom I'm afraid, haven't rooted...haven't seen any real need to...

The problem is you want to replace part of the launcher program but not the whole thing. Root or not it's hard to replace "half a program". Someone could probably, theoretically at least, hack the program apart and replace it that way but that's a lot of effort.
Are you sure you don't have list view? Open the app menu and hit menu
Pick a launcher, i recommend launcher pro or ADW EX (far better than standard ADW launcher)

launcher pro screen resolution?

launcher pro seems to be the fastest home replacement for gingerbread but the icons and launcher are far to small on the rezound. anybody have any tips to increase the icon size or is this because the dev has not updated the app for almost a year? ive tried several launchers and it seems to be the fastest.

It's really too bad that app has basically been abandoned.
LPP Plus was always my favorite launcher when I was using my DroidX.
It seemed that he gave up on it when he couldn't get the unread gmail count to work right after gmail updated their app.
Now, with the Rezound I find that the stock Sense launcher is just as fast or faster than any of the other launchers (& I LOVE the Sense widgets) so I don't bother installing the other launchers anymore (I also have ADWLauncher EX)
It was a great launcher, seems he took the money and ran though instead of delivering that promised re-write of the code....
go launcher is more supreme now at least for gingerbread. maybe slap it on aosp once it's stable
Launcherpro was the smoothest launcher on my og droid and I loved the customization of it, but nowadays go launcher and nova launcher are taking over
i adjusted the resolution in the build prop from 320 to 340 and it helped a bit.

Actually I think it goes beyond that. I like Go Launcher, but that's my only gripe about it. It's like at times when you hit the app drawer button it won't register, you have to hit the drawer like 2-3 times for it to open. I sent feedback in on this a while ago, not sure if anything is being done about it.
I take it back..adw launcher ex is the best. Plus its got an awesome ice cream theme.
It's a shame that LP hasn't been updated. It used to be so good!
I had to set my lcd density back to default as it screwed up the market where i could not install apps. Just a heads up guys.

[Q] TouchWiz/iOS-like app sorting

On TouchWiz, I have a choice of Customizable grid, Alphabetical grid, or Alphabetical list. I use Customizable grid so I could arrange my apps like I did back then on iOS.
I am rooted and have Xposed installed but I can't seem to find a launcher or tweek to do the job. I plan to flash Cyanogenmod on my S2 soon but unfortunately the lack of this feature is holding me back.

Not sure where you have been looking but there are dozens of launchers that have this capability. I'd venture to say that the TW launcher is one of the least customizable options.

The majority of these have that option.

Apex: Allows rearranging but each change affects the other pages. It does not allow pages to be customized individually.
ADW: None
Holo: Same as Nova
Lightning: Hard and inconsistent.
Note: Not to be confused with the Home screens.
I can't seem to find a launcher to make the app drawer act like TouchWiz home/iOS
I understand now. Yea, I guess it's just mostly a Touchwiz thing. I even tried a knock off Galaxy launcher and it didn't even have the function. I was just confused with the comparison to iOS since they don't even have an app drawer. You're just moving icons around on the home screen which is pretty standard for almost any Android launcher.

Nah, Go Launcher and Next Launcher do offer the ability to move the apps around, but just like Apex, it affects the other pages. OP is looking for not only customized sorting, but also customized per page. So if they want 12 apps on the first page, and 10 on the next and 20 on the 3rd, etc.

Change display grid size

Hi, anyone know how to change the grid size to more than 5x5? Thats just silly on a screen this of this size and resolution.
I am on the point of adding Nova launcher but holding off until I have exhausted the standard settings as most other thing I am like are already included.

Stock doesn't allow that, that I can see. Nova it is.
I use Nova not only for the grid size, but also for the icon packs and for the reverse parallax wallpaper scrolling view. I also put a drop shadow under the icons to give them more of a 3D look. And I have my app drawer with black background to clearly differentiate between my desktop screens and my app drawer.
Lots of settings to customize.
Hi, yes, all of the above :good:
Have used Nova for many years and looks like there are just too many advantages to miss.
Are the stock launchers completely inactive while Nova is running?
I have removed stock launchers before or trebuchet from CyanogenMod /lineageos but never knew if there was any need.

Yes, the stock launcher/ROM launchers are inactive while Nova is the primary launcher, but I end up freezing them in Titanium Backup. Otherwise when there's some kind of launcher update I get asked all over again which one I want to use.
But even on non rooted phones for friends I'll install Nova. Just too many tweaks I can't pass up.
Hi, back on Nova already. Good tip about freezing the others :good:
Can't imagine life on an un-rooted phone :silly:
