which service controls app notifications - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted and debloated my gs5, and now I'm not getting certain types of alerts. My stock email using excange pushes ok. My hangouts messages come through ok. But my yahoo sports app, espn app, and bleacher report app alerts don't come thru anymore. Is there anyway for me to narrow down which service or app I have frozen has caused this? I used system tuner to turn off gtalk and gplus services. I'm wondering if those caused it.

[Q] Frozen com.seven.z7 (Social Hub) but E-Mail still works.. how/why?

I'm using AntTek App Manager to freeze some unneccesary bloatware apps that use cpu/batt in the background and I've noticed that the native Email app works even with com.seven.z7 frozen (real filename is SevenEngine.apk, app is labelled as Social Hub, but the actual Social Hub app is com.sec.android.socialhub).
Why is this? I thought the email app uses the z7 service for push emails, is the app manager not freezing apps correctly or is this service used for something else? I basically want to know if I can leave this frozen without adversely affecting my emails
bump, can anyone help?

[Q] need help to block FB Messenger app from receiving messages

Hi,
I have the needs to have all instant messaging apps disabled at certain times during work.
But I need data for other stuff on the android phone.
I have tried a few android firewall apps and while they all work flawlessly, there is one problem:
NONE of them can stop the (Facebook) Messenger app from receiving messages.
Anyone knows of a solution/workaround?

gTalk notifications - no Talk app installed - Weird

Hi
I am having a very weird problem.
I am using IMO for Instant Messaging and so i removed the TALK app from my Nexus one (running Oxygen Rom) using Titanium backup.
Recently there was an update in TALK app and i wanted to try it (Hangouts) so i installed it from the playstore. It was very slow on my mobile so i removed it again.
Now i am getting Talk notifications (with the old TALK icon) in the notification bar. along with the IMO notifications. When i click on the Talk notifications it does not open any app. and the messages that are notified by TALK are missing in the IMO app so its very frustrating.
So i thought it must be the HANGOUTS app and re installed it from the Play Store. Now i get Hangout notification, Talk notification and IMO notification.
Its very annoying. I removed the Hangouts app from the Application Manager and i still getting the TALK notifications.
Please help me get this Talk Ghost out of my mobile.

That is quite bizarre you could try reinstalling the Hangouts app then wiping its cache and data, then uninstalling it and finally rebooting it. Another suggestion would be provided you don't have Talk/Hangouts app installed as a system app is to boot into recovery and perform a factory reset as well as wiping the data and cache partitions. Also re-flashing your current ROM should fix the problem.

[Q] Text and Email Alternative Apps

I have tried using K-9 Email app and TextSecure and hello sms. All of the three seems to stop running after a while in the background. So if I install the any of the 3 and then set it up and it works fine. But then I switch to another app or do something else or not use the phone for a while they stop working. I have tested this and it seems like android os is terminating the process after a while (none of the apps remain in the running apps list on system settings). So is it possible to get these apps to work? By work I mean get notifications if I receive a text or a new email. Also the builtin gmail app and Hangouts and Stock Messaging apps work perfectly fine, no issues.
can you check this post, it worked for me

facebook messenger access

after months of annoying targeted ads I finally got tired of facebook and uninstalled it from my phone
installed separate browser specific for facebook on every PC so it cant share date with anything
I also installed firefox on my phone to use for facebook alone. it worked great until I uninstalled messenger
that's when I really saw how desperate facebook wants my info. im assuming all the goodies were loaded into messenger since it needed pretty much every permission available
and facebook is now like a tweaker trying to get access back to my phone by forcing me to use messenger.
it blocked access to my messages from mobile page and from desktop page as well
always redirecting me to app store
even when I disable app store it simply left blank screen when I click on messages.
this is really disturbing to me how much it wants to spy on me.
so now im trying to figure out if theres a way to access my messages without having facebook app and messenger app
I tried using tinfoil facebook but its also blocked from accessing my messages.
how can I get my messages to work again?

This isn't Facebook spying on you or targeting you specifically. It's been the case for a while now that you can't access your messages from the mobile Facebook website without having Messenger.
It does the exact same thing to me if I try, it opens Messenger. It's for everyone. The change was made some time ago now.
Put Facebook/Messenger Lite on your phone and use that. Or any of the Facebook website wrapper apps like Swipe for Facebook or Metal.
