Link2sd issues with apps eg snaochat registering sd card partition since use. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My phone has been unable to detect the SD card on most apps,
The only apps unaffected are the file browser, galary, camera and a few other stock apps, otherwise every other app is unable to use the SD card. This all started when I used link2sd. Any thoughts

[Q] Can't detect SD Card

I'm having some problem with my sd-card. I use a class 4 16 gb SD card and I can browse it using a file manager and even play songs stored within. But some apps cannot detect it. When using the camera, NavDroyd and some apps, it is asking me to attach a card. I tried remounting the card to no avail.
And another thing - I have a torrent app. I started downloading a 2gb file but decided to cancel it. But the free space of my card was still reduced by 2gb although I removed the torrent and data. Any tips on this? Thanks.
Any ideas?
Try to copy what you have on sd card on your pc, then format it and copy the things back on sd card.Have you tried another card? Maybe is a rom problem. And the utorrent thingy, browse the sd-card and check the folder where it downloads the torrents and see if the file is still there, and manually delete it.
If I format my sd-card. do I have to repeat the convertion of ext2 to ext3,etc.. stuffs?

[Q] Prevent apps from installing to SD in ICS?

Some apps seem to install to internal memory by default, and some to sd card if one is present.
Even more annoyingly however, many of the apps that default to SD card if you move them to internal memory MOVE BACK TO THE SD CARD when you update them.
Is there any way to prevent apps from automatically installing to the SD card? Or at the very least, installing to SD card is fine... but to prevent them from moving BACK to the sd card when you update them?
I've seen this question in 3 different topics on XDA and none of them is answered. My question is similar to this; Apps are installed on internal memory but app data is on external. As a result i have a completely empty internal memory and a full sd card. Tried possible suggestions on other sites but didn't work. Why can't we choose where to install the app data? How to move the app data back, since app2sd wouldn't work on this situation.
FYI, buy a bigger memory card is NOT a solution, it's a workaround for the actual problem..

Click to collapse
Looks like your problem can be solved with "link2sd" which gives a permanent option on where to install apps. Search it in Google Play.
In my case (i have three different memory blocks) you have to do a repartition and a custom rom but i don't want to go there so i just mapped the drives with editing vold.fstab and bought a bigger memory card

[Q] Apps disappeared after moving them to sd memory

I was running low on phone memory so i decided to move some apps to sd card (not external sd card), i was unable to do it from settings, application manager, it was giving me error "Unable to move app. Not enough storage space" (although it was just a bug, i have 11 gb free space in sd card), so tried a third party mover app ROM Toolbox Lite's App Manager, yes i was successful, the apps moved to sd, but afterwards they were missing from app drawer and but i am able to see them in application manager I searched a lot bu didn't find anything raher than people facing the same problem. Why the hell do we get only the phone memory to install apps, if i won't be able to use 16gbs to install apps why would i need it then ?
My Sony Xperia phone came with OfficeSuite installed as system app so after i got the phone rooted i installed a bunch of utilies and also ROM Toolbox. I used ROM Toolbox to move OfficeSuite to SD card but then it disappeared from the phone, i could not find it anywhere but i could see some files of it on the SD card. Then i opened Titanium Backup and at the bottom of the Backup/Restore tab i saw OfficeSuite and i was able to restore it.

[Q] [Question] Moving apps to SD Card

I just recently rooted my L9 (finally been wanting to do it since I got it) and the main reason I did this was so that I could move system apps to the SD card to I could download large games. Is there a way to directly download from Play Store to SD card or do I have to go through the SD card? Also what apps would be good for this? I'm currently using this file manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhmsoft.fm. Can I do it with this app or is there another I have to get?
Try using Link2SD, I remember that there is an option to install apps on sd automatically, and you can delete, move or freeze apps

M8 Installing Apps to Both Internal and External Storage

Hi everyone,
I'm running stock Sense 6.0 (4.4.2).
Whenever I download an app from the Play Store, it downloads it twice, both in storage/emulated/0/android and in storage/ext_sd/android. I want to keep my external sd card for music, so I don't want apps taking up space on it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the updates to the Play Store, digging around in my settings, and deleting the /android directory from my external SD card, but nothing works. Does anyone know what's going on?
Thanks!
They aren't actually installing on your SD card. They are just creating a folder there should you choose to move their data to SD card in settings. Don't worry, the folders won't take up any space.
