[Q] Can i flash a Rom from another country ?

Hello,
long time no see!
Just want to confirm if it's still the same case or anything changed.
I have a Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 ( I9300XXUGMK6 "4.3 Android" ) from Germany. Now i want to flash a firmware from another country for example "I9300XXUGML3" 4.3 Android for GT-I9300 from Singapore. Is it possible or has SAMSUNG changed anything in their policies that makes it impossible? Used to be possible with Odin.
thanks mates !

no need to re-root, just need a pc, just download a new unbranded firmware for your i9300, flash it with odin and wipe data!
there are tons of flash guides for our samsung, search for it here on xda

I am from Portugal and here, like other counties, the updates have a delay... So, I always download the latest European Firmware available when it comes out in other country!!
The only noticable difference is the CSC version, each country has a different CSC and thus different bloatware, but that doesn't mean you can't flash another country's firmware that will work except with different preloaded software.
Apart from that try to pay attention to the "Changelist" number which is the build number (So higher means newer). When Samsung releases a firmware for a specific device some countries get a new build number while the others won't. So flash a firmware which has the highest "Changelist" number.
How can I check the "Changelist" number of the firmware?

It's not possible for your phone to be SM-G925. There must be a letter or number 0 at the end. Try updating the phone via Samsung Switch

Flash a G965U from Verizon to a G965U1, or 965U T-Mobile?

I ordered an unlocked model, G965U1 from eBay, but the seller sent me a G965U Verizon. At least that's the firmware that it has on it. I'm familiar with Odin and everything, so I'm wondering if I should keep it and just flash it over to what I want. Is this a viable option, I already had to send back a OnePlus 6T back to OnePlus, so I'm getting kind of tired of sending phones back.
Will the phone be just as good as what I ordered if I flash a different firmware on it, radio band-wise and such? The phone says I do not have a Verizon sim in it but I seem to be getting service from my T-Mobile sim.... Is this because all Verizon phones come unlocked? Sorry I'm just so confused with a different models and different bootloaders and different firmwares, so any advice would be appreciated!
Issue resolved, big thanks to user @jcsww!
I'm having similar crisis, can you tell me the steps u did? I have downloaded Odin and the Tmobile firmware that I've yet to flash. I want to do a backup first but cannot find a TWRP for G965U, guess ill just create a backup on stock?

I would start by reading where I posted in the other thread, and another member stepped up and laid it all out for me: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/how-to/g965u-g965u1-firmware-links-t3763487/page144. I don't have any clue about backing up or using TWRP on this device tho.

What firmware does the phone have, from what US carrier? I I think the only thing you can try is flashing different firmwares to see if it will work. Maybe try converting it to a U S. factory unlocked G965U1, then the phone will reboot to configure the settings and features according to your sim card. No guarantee with this kind of thing tho.
I have ore 8.0 and the phone is from sprint but unlocked.i thin is from sprint cause i have sprint omadm

You could try switching to the firmware for unlocked model G965U1, latest is 3ARJ6. No guarantee that it will make volte work though, that kind of thing is definitely hit and miss, and your phone is ideally suited for American carriers. But that's what I would try. You might also want to call up your service provider and see if they can do anything.

I flashed my Verizon G965U to G965U1. I used the patched Odin and used the CSC from the U1 firmware... My phone flashed and wiped, and then it booted up and detected my SIM card, then it rebooted again to configure all the settings based on my SIM card. After I did that I was getting the U1 updates directly to the phone.
Thanks!you can give me the variant of odin and soft to flash for my phone?

I don't remember exactly where I got them but they are easy to find by searching. I remember the Odin file ended in patcheD.zip. For the firmware I believe I used the Samfirmware site.

You could try flashing the unlocked version of the firmware, but that only changes the boot animation to a different one. With my sprint phone it went to the stock Samsung one after flashing the firmware for the G965U1
Otherwise no way I know of to customize it. Things like that require root access which we don't have.

Just keep in mind flashing the G965U1 firmware may cause certain sprint features to not work.
The G965U1 is from the non carrier branded phone so it is the most generically compatible firmware. Any carrier specific additions added to the firmware by the carrier wouldn't be present.
Like for example the tmobile firmware has the video calling built into the dialer. With the g965U1 firmware it is not present.

It's there.
If your using Samfirm app to download the firmware you search for the model SM-G965U1 and then XAA for the region.
Using sammobile you search for the model SM-G965U1 and then at the drop down menu select "(Unknown) XAA" from the available options.

The only thing I can see causing the issue is the bootloader version. You can only flash firmware with the same bootloader version or higher then what is currently installed on your phone.
To locate the bootloader version look at your baseband version. Start at the very right hand side count left 5 characters inwards. The number that is present would be the bootloader version.
Using the example below the bootloader version would be number 5
G965USQS5CSEA

When you open the >firmware page< and select your region and then your firmware version, there is a short instruction.
Correction: I want to flash the U.S firmware (w/U.S lte bands) onto my international version. No PC access so I want to use KINGROOT!

If they differ in hardware, don't even try.
They are the same.
In general, US versions have support for different radio bands than the international versions. If you upload the US firmware to the international version, you may lose not only gsm radio support, but also WiFi.
Try looking for a method to activate the US band in the current firmware. This is the only safe method.
Once again thank you for the your help! But as you might know they're saying this phone will be no good after Verizon shuts down it's 3G.I already switched from AT&T to Verizon earlier this year. I was told I can just do what I was asking but if you know of any way possible I can save my phone? I know it needs band 14 for AT&T. I already did the apn thing but it's not enough. They still read it as 3G. This phone has extreme sentimental value to me.

It is impossible to make something out of nothing.
The equipment is incompatible and you already know that.
