Gear VR development
This post is reserved for Samsung VR tips, tricks and development.
Samsung VR may not supported with all custom kernels. Kernel packed with ROM working perfectly.
1. How to use Milk VR on non supported countries e.g India
Milk VR one of best app for viewing 360/180 videos by samsung. Yet it's not available for all regions and if you don't see this app on oculus store simple download it manually and install it as regular app. You can get it from attached VR utilities - Download area
2.How to view your own photos and videos
Too see your own video, place videos under Int SD(Device storage)/MilkVR directory. After this when you open MilkVR from gear VR you will see download categories which will have all videos you have placed as per said in above location. If your videos are 180 then rename video file ending with 180x180_dv OR 180x180_dh depending on horizontal/Vertical stereoscopic recording. (simply open video on regular player and check it is horizontal/vertical)
To see 360 photos in occulus, copy all images to IntSD(device storage)/Oculus/360Photos/My Images directory. Now you will see this directory from gear VR - Oculus 360 photos - Device storage
You can download 360 photos from here
You can download 360 videos fro here
3.You can use youtube download to download 4k videos - Get from VR utilities (attached below)-download area
4.Use Google Cardboard application on Samsung VR
As samsung have default viewer set to Oculus for samsung VR but still we can use Google cardboard on samsung VR and for that I have made small utility for that.
Here I am describing some features of VR Utilities which can help to use google cardboard on samsung VR
5.Dr.Ketan VR Utilities (You must be on Dr.Ketan ROM for N920I L9 or UP )
- Download and Install attached VR Utilities *.apk as regular app
- Open application and you will have following options.
Download Area - You will find some useful stuff to use with VR
VR Service - Tap/Long press to Enable/Disable : This will enable/Disable samsung VR service. If you disable it, Samsung VR won't use oculus viewer and it won't auto start as well. This is useful when you want to use google cardboard application manually. When you enable it, it will restore stock oculus feature and when you dock your device it will auto start oculus.
Auto cardboard demo - Tap/long press to toggle : When you enable - it will disable oculus and autometically start google cardboard demo when you dock your note 5 on gear VR. Make sure you have downloaded and Installed google cardboard application from play store.
VR developer option - Tap/Long press to toggle : VR developer option is not available by default and you need to enable it. If you enable this option you can use VR application without docking your device. Also this will reduce flickering when use google cardboard app with VR. I have added option just to restore otherwise you don't require to deactivate this option.
Access developer option : Above said option will just Activate/Deactivate developer option. You can toggle developer option with this menu. Click this menu and then press 'More' from right upper corner to toggle developer option. It is recommended to turn off this option when not require.
6. Set Google cardboard profile
To use google cardboard application it is require to set profile. Open google cardboard application - menu - settings - Switch users - Now scan above barcode to set Samsung VR to cardboard profile. On successful switch you will see use profile from dr.Ketan by Samsung Note 5 (see screenshot above)
7. How to use goggle cardboard app like google earth basic
Open google cardboard - install required app like Google Earth
Disable VR service with VR utilities
Open Cardboard-library-Earth basic-Explore place you want - click on cardboard symbol. Now you will see split screen. Dock your device to VR and explore
Njoy !
Thanks and credit to @Oscar Fernando for some tips and links.

1.You must be having custom recovery to flash this ROM. You can use TWRP/Philz CWM according your choice. Here are links I have tested this ROM.
Download link for arter97-recovery-n920ci-3.6-philz_touch_6.59.0.tar.md5 Thanx and credit @arter97
PS : T-Mobile users have to flash kernel for their device
How to flash custom recovery?
First go to setting-about device-software info and tap 7 times on build number
now look to setting and you will find developer option just above about device.
Enable OEM unlock
Switch off device
Reboot to download mode (Vol up+power+home)

Select recovery file with AP tab of Odin
Now uncheck Auto reboot option
Flash selected file
Once flashing complete, disconnect device and long press Vol down+Power
Once screen turns off, immediately press vol up+power+home to reboot to recovery manually.
Now you have custom recovery and proceed to flash RO)M.
2. This ROM doesn't have kernel/modem included as it requires custom kernel to root device. There are two kernels available (by @arter97 and by @Manh_IT and you can choose according you liking. Here is link which I have tested on this ROM.

Good evening, Doctor. I remember you from the Forum N900F / G .You've done a great job there. I have N920C. I hope that our paths crossed again. Good luck to U . Thank you for the past and hope for the future as well. If this rom fits N920C I will be very happy !!!! Health and success !!!
:good::laugh:

If I am not wrong you were on n900 forum I think.
I believe it should work on n920c as well as another deodexed stock ROM for n920i I think reported working on n920c too.
Sent from my SM-N920I using xda premium

Rom working flawlessly.
THANKS !!!!

Edit
Any 920C user reports?
-----------------------------
Since no 920C user reports, I couldn't wait any longer and flashed Dr.Ketan L1 rom.
I was only able to flash recovery as our good Doc's second alternative (unchecking auto reboot). After that everything went smoothly. Played with some extra settings, changed some CSC settings, Rom Control ext. So far so good. No FC yet but againf I having installed any of my apps yet, will take at least half hour.
I must say, I wasn't planning to root my Note 5, when I learned that he was already on his new rom with his new Note 5 I just couldn't stoped myself Thanx Doc again for your dedication to make Note series a better device. Will be reporting more...

TNN Presents CyanMobile

Alright guys yall have asked for it so I have created it. Remember this is a wip and so far it does not boot. I am looking for people to flash and test since I do not have this device the process of creating this might take some time.
First things first credit is given where credit is earned! This source was not created by me or any of my team and the same goes for the device tree(s) used to compile this. Below are links to the original source code and device tree(s) used to make this happen.
SquadZone -- The team who made this beast in the first place -- https://github.com/CyanMobile
Giveen -- I have used his tree and vendor files -- https://github.com/giveen
DSC -- Kernel source that is used for the current builds -- https://github.com/dsc-team/dsc-team-kernel-project
TNN -- This is my team who without their support none of this could have happened
CyanMobile - Evo 4G General thread -- AKA CyanMobile Map (This will be brought over at a later date) -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305750
Now to get to the meat and potatoes!!
What works!!
Nothing yet rom bootloops according to my only tester (this is where the community comes in cause I need more testers)
While digging around in the source code I came across this from the SquadZone Team. It is a list of some of the features that are included in this rom.
What is CyanMobile?
CyanMobile is an aftermarket ROM like CyanogenMod, MIUI, JoyOS, LewaOS and others that are built from source...
Absolutely built from source based on CyanogenMod 7 (Gingerbread v2.3.7) and modifications from AOSP and AOKP
Thanks To CyanogenMod Team, AOKP Team, and AOSP Team for Their Work
**********************************************************************************************************************
** CyanMobile is Short of " *Cyan* (CyanogenMod) *Mob* (Mobiling) *I* (Improving) and *L* (Let's) *E* (Experiment)" **
**********************************************************************************************************************
All features are based on what users do and what users need with lots of improvements here and there
This ROM (optimized by Gingerbread) uses updates from other branches (like ICS stuff, AOSP and AOKP) with reverse
engineering or backporting skills
It can be used without any need to have any Google application (Gapps) installed..
Let us talk about what is in CyanMobile:

How to answer incoming calls and how to change the way you answer them.
As most of yall have noticed if you have tried this rom this thing is a beast when it comes to customization. There are countless things you can do and one of them is change how your dialer works. Out of the box you dont have softkeys to answer or hangup your phone. You must hit the settings hard key to answer or dial and the back key to hangup. Sorry about not listing that till now but I forgot about it
How to setup some of the basic features
Changing how you answer your phone
1. Settings -- CyanMobile Settings -- calls
2. Check allow incall ui touch this will give you a ui to answer/reject calls (if you only uncheck the two above this then you will be unable to answer your phone)
3. Also you can recheck the two options to use the menu and back keys and then either the buttons or the ui will work
Setting up GPS
1. Settings -- Main Settings -- Location & Security
2. Check Use wireless networks
3. Check Use GPS satellites
4. Select GPS source then select Use Internal GPS
5. Last one is your choice (it does use your mobile data) Check Use assisted GPS
Second there is a built in a2sd but needs to be setup.
1. Settings-- development -- check mount SD on boot and enable download on SD.
2. Reboot
3. Settings -- applications -- preferred install location -- sdext
4. Settings -- cyanmobile settings -- check allow application moving
5. Select install location and choose sd-ext
6. Now reboot
From now on all apps will automatically be on sdext.
You can go into settings -- application -- manage applications
If everything was done correctly then you will have an option to move to sdcard and move to sd-ext/phone.
Now I know some of yall are getting tired of setting up this rom every time I put out a new release. While this wont save everything it will save most of our settings. Open CyanMobile settings and scroll over to Utilities and you will find options to back up and restore. Just follow their instructions.
To disable boot audio
Settings -- CyanMobile Settings -- Performance
Uncheck enable boot sound and reboot (I have tested and this does work)
A2sd style scripts will cause bootloops
Note on themes: so far every cm7 theme I tried works fine.

CyanMobile Map
Well I am sure most of yall can figure out the normal settings so I will leave those out of this guide (unless I get requests for them).
I am going to start at the beginning and work my way through the settings. Some things might cover what has been posted in OP #1 but doing it this way will be easier for me. Also it should help to server as a better map for yall. I am taking pics as I am writing this so for now you will just see an insert message till I get them uploaded.
1. CyanMobile settings
2. First up is the Application tab
A. There are four listings here as shown above.
1. Allow application moving -- this must be enabled to use the built in a2sd program
2. Install location
a. Automatic -- system decides where to place apps
b. Internal -- this places apps on your /data partition
c. External -- this places apps in your .android_secure folder on your main sd partition (not a good option, will reboot when connecting mass storage.
d. SD-Ext -- this places apps on your sd-ext partition (best choice)
B. Use internal storage (this option is not for use and is grayed out)
C. Permission management -- this gives you the option to revoke or grant permission on a app by app basis
3. Calls tab
A. Smart phone call -- cool feature allows you to automatically dial a number when phone is placed near your ear (open contact, message or put number in dialer then put phone to your head and it dials)
B. Back button end call -- on by default
C. Menu button answers calls -- on by default
D. Allow Incall UI touch -- off by default -- selecting turns off options B + C (but you can enable them and have the option to use buttons or the UI) -- if you unselect this option it will automatically turn on options B + C (that way you will never be left without a way to answer calls)
E. Loop ringtone -- loops ringtone until call is answered or goes to voicemail (if not selected a short ringtone will only play once then stop)
F. Call Me Louder -- uses proximity sensor an will increase call volume when phone is inside pocket/bag/etc. (battery draining feature)
G. Vibrate during calls
H. Flip down to mute ringer -- battery draining feature
I. Flip down to snooze alarm -- battery draining feature
4. CPU settings tab
A. Current CPU frequency
B. Available governors -- changes governor
C. I/O scheduler -- changes I/O scheduler
D. Min CPU frequency -- allows you to set the lowest frequency the governor can use
E. Max CPU frequency -- allows you to set the highest frequency the governor can use
F. Max screen off CPU frequency -- limits screen off frequency -- if governor uses screen off freq then the lowest setting of the two will be used
G. Set on boot -- will restore setting after reboot/restart (only select after testing above settings -- that way you don't get stuck in boot loop due to too high/low cpu settings)
5. Display tab
A. Automatic backlight
1. Enable
2. Window length ( 2-60 seconds )
3. Reset threshold
4. Sample interval
5. Use custom
6. Screen dim level
7. Edit other levels
8. Allow light decrease
9. Decrease hysteresis
B. Screen-on animation -- animation when you come out of sleep
C. Screen-off animation -- animation when you go into sleep
D. Enable Bravia engine -- on by default (said to improve graphics)
E. Rotation animation
F. Window animation (this is not the only place to change this)
G. Transition animations (this is not the only place to change this)
H. Display Option -- changes the display size (evo 4G is 800X480)
I. Reset Display size
J. LCD Density (this can effect your market/playstore)
K. Clear Market data
L. Click to Reboot!
M. Reverse rotation -- used if your phone does not rotate correctly
N-Q. Used to enable/disable rotation settings 0, 90, 180, 270 degrees
6. Input tab
A. Input Tweaks
1. Haptic feedback tweaks
a. Haptic feedback main -- vibration when pressing softkeys and some UI interactions
b. Haptic feedback up -- vibration on release of key and some UI interactions
c. Haptic screen items -- vibration when making screen selections (haptic feedback up must be enable to use this feature)
d. Set Down Pattern -- make vibration patterns
c. Set Up Pattern -- make vibration patterns
d. Long-Press Pattern
e. Set Keypad Tap Pattern
2. Long-Press home settings
a. Show recent apps title
b. Number of recent apps
c. Quick home button -- when enabled pressing home shows recent apps (no long press required)
d. Task Switcher -- this is the app that makes it look like ics style recent apps (on by default)
e. Use custom application
f. Select custom application -- sets application used when long pressing home
3. Long-Press menu
a. Choose behavior -- a few preset options
b. Select custom application -- allows you to set app launched when long pressing menu
B. Search key behavior
1. Search key app
2. Custom application
3. Long-press search key
4. Custom application
C. Vibrate on shutdown
D. Volume rocker wake -- use volume keys to wake phone
E. Volume button music control -- long press vol+ to skip forward, vol- to restart/skip back (D and E can be enabled at same time so use care or you will wake the phone instead of changing tracks)
F. Camera button music control -- can be enabled but since we have no camera button it does nothing
G. Explorer Key -- another option you can change but since we dont have this key it wont do anything
6. Interface tab
(insert 27, 28, 29)
To be continued....

Bug/Issue Report Form
If all users would please start using this simple form located below it will make things easier for everyone. Hint: if you use the red color code already in the form it will make reading the bug/issue report easier for me and other users who might have similar issues. Thanks for all your feedback without it this rom could never improve.
Bug/issue Report Form Link:
1. Rom version - beta#
2. Kernel -stock
3. H-boot - 6.16.16
4. Recovery type - RA/twrp/cwm
5. Hardware type, radio, and baseband ( not required but can be helpful) - baseband 2.15.00.01.15
6. What happened (crash, reboot, boot loop, etc.) - system crash
7. What you were doing when it happened - trying out xda app
8. Does it happen every time or is it a random issue - everytime
9. If it is an app please list the app version and if the app was downloaded from the market or installed via other method - inverted xda app from xda website
10. Are you using a2sd? Which script? - Yes, the built in a2sd / DT's a2sd
11. If using a2sd please list sdcard partition specs - 16 gig class 10 Sandisk, 256 MB swap, 1.0 gig ext 4 sd-ext partition
12. Can you provide a logcat (a logcat app comes with the rom to make this part easier) - no logcat dont know how
13. Logcats should be loaded to pastebin or attached to your bug report post. - https://pastbin.com/user/logcat.txt or attach to post and rename to logcat.zip (do not compress just change the extension because xda will only allow up to 512 KB text files)
13. Any tweaks, mods, or zips you flashed besides those I provided yall - no, no crossbreeder either yet.
14. Any other information you think might be important. - im a noob/just burned a bowl/just finished a 12 pack
Special Note:
1. Yes I know some sections will not be used by streak users. This was taken straight from my Og thread and will be changed to reflect streak users at a later date.
2. If all users will you the quote (on android app) or reply (on the web) then you will have the actual color codes included and you can just remove the quote code along with the original text that is not needed.
3. Thank you in advance for using this form it will make things easier by using this.
Special Instructions
Well this rom is unlike anything you have seen or used before and being such it does come with some special instructions for installation.
1. You must do a clean install. (wipe everything twice)
2. Make sure all the junk files from other roms are no longer on your sdcard
3. Sd-ext must be wiped repeat sd-ext must be wiped
4. Do not install anything else with this rom NO MODS, NO SCRIPTS, NOTHING!!! REPEAT DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING WITH THIS ROM
5. As of now there are no gapps included with this rom and please do not install any gapps with this rom (if you need gapps please use another rom for now)
6. I will post a special gapps.zip to use once this rom is up and running PLEASE ONLY USE MY GAPPS.ZIP others will give you issues!! This is not a normal gingerbread build and major issues will arise by using the wrong gapps.
7. Once gapps are posted DO NOT UPGRADE!! REPEAT DO NOT UPGRADE ANY GOGGLE APP!! I will keep the flashable zip updated for new users and a second update zip for apps that can be updated. Some updates will give you major errors due to this special version of gingerbread.
8. Once you have flashed the rom wipe caches again just to be safe and reboot.
9. You will most likely experience 1 reboot following the initial boot (1 reboot is normal 2 or more and there are issues)
10. Your phone will take some time to boot this is normal.
11. If for any reason you wipe cache at a later date you will notice something weird (for ics/jb users you will recognize this stage) it will state apps are being updated and show 1 0f XXX apps and progress till XXX is reached. Again this is normal and will only be noticed after a cache wipe. This is your phone doing a dalvic cache rebuild.
Now I am sure there are more but this is enough for now since the rom does not boot yet anyways. So no one should have to worry about anything past step 8

logcat attached
Just finished setting up a dedicated build machine just for this. Downloading and setting up a different device/vendor tree along with using a pre-built dsc kernel. Maybe better results this time around. Soon as the build is done i will post a link in the op.
On another note I will be importing page 1 of cyanmobile map tonight also. Might even try and getting page 2 started.
You need to pull some of my changes to init and BoardConfig, mainly those centering around /cache and /data

F.A.Q:
Q: I installed the your App, but nothing happen after reboot?!
A: Make sure you have:
Xposed framework is installed and up to date (install it through Xposed Installer App)
Enabled my App on the Xposed modules list
Q: I tried to install your App, but i'm getting a bad parsing error!
A: Because you are NOT running the required Android version 4.4+.
Q: Does this Application requires Root access?
A: No! Root is required only for Xposed framework installation.
Q: I start the screen recording but how to stop it? i get a broken video files!
A: You MUST have Busybox installed, and expand your notifications (XSense feature) to get the Stop ticker on the notification bar.
Q: Call recording is NOT working or i'm getting a bad recorded sound! PLZ fix it!!!
A: Nothing to fix from my side, it depends on your device/Rom, and you need to use a Headset in this case, it IS a Stock feature and this IS a stock bug.
Q: Why don't you make my changes applied on the fly? why do i need to Reboot?
A: Because i care about performance, applying a feature change on the fly means the related stock Method MUST be hooked on boot, which means all impacted (by my module) System Methods should be hooked on boot even if most of them are NOT used.
Q: I'm getting a boot-loop!
A: Flash Xposed disabler patch (you will find it on your sdcard) through CWM recovery
Q: Does changes persist after uninstalling the Application?
A: No!
First?
This looks promising!

I do have busybox installed but I see no way to end the screen record in the notification bar. Am I missing something else? I'm stock rooted with minimal mods outside of sense toolbox and GB.

Your recording notification must be expanded if you have any other active notification.

I'll give it a shot next time I get a call and post the Xposed logs. Are there any known incompatibilities with the Sense 5 Tool Box?

I was wondering the same thing. During a call, when I tried to activate the call recorder, as far as I could see there was no reaction. Afterward I looked through the sd card for a file or a directory that could have been saved, but found nothing.

I have tried now to record a call twice. No such directories were created on my sdcard (My Documents/My Recordings). Perhaps I am doing something wrong. Could it be that there are regional restrictions on phone recording?

I have attached the Xposed error.log. There was no "recording started" notification. I selected start recording and nothing happened. I am running stock sense 5.5 rooted if that makes a difference.

Ah ok, then i think the module did what it can do, actually the only thing this app does is to enable the record button, what happens after pressing the button is a pure stock Htc feature, if you aren't getting any notification then i guess it's a stock bug, can you upload your logcat?
By the way i noticed that Lock screen carrier label mod isn't compatible with your Sense 5.5, can you upload a deodexed Htc locksreen apk?

This is a moded version of Wanam's XTouchWiz:
https://github.com/wanam/XTouchWiz
Can confirm, at least the limited options I use, most works great on Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (SM-X900) on BVK4 firmware.
Options I use:
Advanced Power Menu (all of the following I have enabled working) - Power Off, Restart, Download Mode, Screenshot, Screen Recorder, Flashlight
Unlock Keyguard Before Actions
Camera shutter sound menu
Fake system status official
Only thing of the options I use that didn't work was Secure flag disabling (tested with screenshotting Xfinity Account info which doesn't work unless secure flag disabled). Not even a big deal since I mostly use this option on my phone.
If I didn't list an option, I didn't test it. I would be more than happy to when I have time if anyone would like. Also keep in mind my tab is WiFi only, so I wouldn't even be able to test a good amount of the options anyway. The most important thing to me has always been the advanced power menu options and it works great!
One last note, APM hasn't worked on our Tab S7+ (SM-T970) in a long time. I never reported it and honestly since I now have the S8 Ultra, don't care much. It definitely used to, and I suspect it could have been a change in LSposed over changes in firefdskit or firmware. My wife still has S7+, but never really used it anyway. I'll wait for A13 to drop for S7+ and test again. No reason really to look into it at this point anyway imo.
Thanks @firefds for one of the best Samsung modkits out there today!!

EDIT: I'm not one to usually ask for feature requests, but since there isn't even a severely nerfed GravityBox available for Android 13 anymore afaik, I figured I'd ask. The only remaining option I used in GB was hold back button to kill foreground app. And it actually worked on Samsung tabs up to Android 12L. Also mapped holding recents key to launch calculator, but that's no biggie.
Any chance this could be implemented into firefds kit? And/or does anybody know of another mod that can add this option that works with Samsung ROMs? (I know you can do this with Tasker, but I'm looking to do it without that overhead)
Inside the module settings in Lsposed, try to whitelist the app you want to take a screenshot of and reboot. It should work.
I'll look into that feature, or even better - a somewhat working GB.. No promises!!
Great !
Since Gravity stops and Dark Tricks doesn't work for me with this tweak i may to ask,
if it is possible for you to implement expanded Notifications ?
Thank you so much please add samsung z fold 4 (F936B) OneUI 5.0 on the working device list cause it works perfectly for me
S22 ultra (S908B ) on One ui 5 working too
Working well with Android 13 One UI 5 on Samsung Galaxy A52s 5g.
Using:
Network Speed Menu
Date and Seconds on clock
Disable Loud Volume Warning
Advanced Power Menu
Call Recording
Caller ID and Spam Protection
Disable SMS to MMS threshold
Fake System status (official)
Secure Flag (disabled able to do screen shots in secure apps)
Appreciate a lot your work on this and if I may be so bold maybe one day you can make it possible to adjust the height of the Navigation bar which is way to high in my humble opinion... thanks again sir!
Edit: Working on my Galaxy tab S6 lite with android 13.
Works great on S20+. Thanks!
How to activate the Can't take screenshot due to security policy feature, I didn't see anything?
Enable Secure Flag, and add the app you want to screenshot in the xposed module's white list
My screenshot is unstable. Most of the time it doesn't work the first time. Only the second or even third time. Is there any way to do this? On the A12 version it worked perfectly.
Just installed and would like to say BIG THANKS.
Absolutely the best Samsung customization application!
One question only: where the backup files are stored? I would like to have them available in a file just to copy it to another than phone location.
PS. As @1jkan reported above: screenshot sometimes doesn't work at first shot. For me it's not a big deal as I take a screenshots with power and volume down buttons pressed simultaneously but, indeed with Firefds app it works unstable.
@firefds could you also update regular gravity box. As no one else is fully able to. It would be nice if someone of your skill could bring it up to date.
Works on Samsung Galaxy A71 (SM-A715F), using these options:
Hide Charging Notification
Hide VoLTE icon
Network Speed Menu
High Level Brightness
Disable loud volume warning
Enable screen recording in call
Advanced power menu
Call recording
Disable call number formatting
Called ID and Spam protection
Fake system status
Thanks for making this nice tool

Go to S22 Ultra thread - it is more relevant place to ask your question.
But I can answer here: no, there is no way / solution to remove the warning on Snapdragon S22 Ultra variant.

Hello, cant find camera shutter sound menu option on fold 4 latest firmware.
I whitelisted every app with camera in it.
