But if I format FAT32, I can not use files larger than 4GB , tx.

I don't think it's caused by having a 64 gig card. I had the same issue with just a 32 gig one. It didn't clear everything (like photos) but apps and stuff got wiped when I thought it was just going to erase the external microsd. So must be a major software bug. (I got the beta MIUI 7)
I formatted the card on a Mac using an SD adapter and it's working fine.

...

do not use the pop up screen to format.. format inside the system menu and you are good to go.
Nice feature..

SGS3 phone memory question

Yo,
I have a 32gb microsd card, and obviously the internal card which only really shows up as 10.9gb. Now when I access my device through airdroid its saying there are 2 internal, the 10.8 and an 11gb. But I can only ever seem to locate one internal.
I want to totally erase my internal card and do a spanking fresh install of a new rom. how do i erase both cards? And are there actually 2 cards in there?

Cheers!
do you have any addition SDcard in there? normally it is like:
internal SD = internal phone memory
external SD = add-on SD card that you put in (the slot for the external SD is near the SIM card slot, battery etc.)
It's a problem from airdroid, the same thing happens to me.
cool makes sense!
another thing,is it safe to totally format the internal card after a new ROM is installed?

if you are talking about the internal SD card as mentioned by me above, you should not format after installing the ROM, either before .
Normally for installing a ROM you do a factory reset, then flash the new ROM. If you really want to start clean, you can use 'mega wipe' (search for it in the forums here), it will completely format system & internal SD card, hence be prepared to have a flashable ROM on your external SD card.

[Q] Problem with 64 GB SDXC

Hi!
I've scorched the net and XDA for an answer to my problem.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and recently bought a no-name 64 GB SDXC card to replace my 32 GB, but I can't get it working properly.
I can transfer files to the card both via a micro SD adapter and the USB contact plugged to the computer. The SGS2 detects it, but the folders and files in them are corrupted by the phone. After some GBs, all folders are empty and folder names format like this:
"Dave Gahan" > "µAVEGA~1" (spaces in original folder name)
"Depeche Mode" > "µEPECH~1" (spaces in original folder name)
"Delerium" > "µELERIUM"
Haujobb > "µAUJOBB"
Accept > "µCCEPT".
Here's a screenshot from X-plore:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If I put the SDXC back in the computer, the folders are like in the phone (corrupted).
I've never had this issue with the 32 GB card and right now it's working perfectly having the exact same files as the 64 GB on it.
I'm running stock ROM with Speedmod kernel 4.1.2. The 64 GB is formatted to FAT32 with 32 kb cluster size and there are no files over 4 GB.
Is there a way to solve this or is my 64 GB SDXC broken?
Thanks.

Bump. Noone?

Third Party Apps Can't Write Properly on MicroSD Card

My phone is Asus Zenfone Live L2 Bought less than 2 months ago. My microSD card is VGen 32 GB 9 months old. All preinstalled app can perform write action to microSD card like move, copy, paste, extract and download without problem. But any app that I personally install always result in corrupt or 0 sized files. Already checked all those apps for SD card access and storage permission. Phone is currently rooted but issue existed since before. Already looked solution on Google but no working fix.
@arjuna17jax
To install apps on external SD-card requires this card is set up as internal Android storage.

Note: This only works if supported by OEM/Carrier.

I didn't mean to install app to SD card. But to write files using third party file manager, archive manager, picture manager and media player.

Question Format SD Card as internal storage? OOS12

This used to be possible on the previous update, but now the option is gone. This is what the formatting page looks like now:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The following link was the old way of allowing the SD Card to be formatted as internal storage.
https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/s6od0a
Doing this on OOS12 doesn't change anything in the settings as far as I'm aware of though. Is there anyway to do this or is my best bet to downgrade?
IF downgrading is the only option, I tried following the guide on this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...l-to-restore-your-device-to-oxygenos.4324431/,
but driver download link no longer works and the ones I found online resulted in a Code 52 error so I would need help with that too.
In the end I was able to successfully downgrade, but then a new problem showed up. The SD Card was working as intended for a few hours, but suddenly stopped. Now, even when it says it is formatted, it stays unsupported. Neither formatting as internal or external change this. Any idea why? Restarting the phone does not help.
Edit: Sorry for the extra post in the reply. I wasn't aware of an edit feature for the post.
More context, this happened as I was downloading some apps from google play. When I tried to open it, it just flashed and went back to the home screen and eventually resulted in a phone reboot.
Afterwards, I tried formatting on my PC with:
-Disk Manager (all options are greyed out except delete volume)
-Minitool (Says format successful, but doesn't change. Has 'other' as the format)
-AOMEI (Same problem as Minitool)
-SD Card Formatter (From the sandisk website: Says formatting failed)
Starting to think the SD Card is just dead. Can someone confirm? A simple yes or no is good enough.

sd card on s9+ suddenly dead

I had a kingston canvas select plus 128gb sd card in my s9+ (SM-G965F). One day i woke up and i saw some images of apps grey and when i tried to open them "app isn't installed". Also checked in my files and "Sd card not inserted" appeared. So i wipe cache/partition, clean cache and data of my files, reboot and so on but nothing worked...
So i try sd card in my pc through a usb adapter and a light grey drive appear but it doesn't work. When i double click on it "Please insert disk..".
This what i see in Disk Management... "No media"
{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So i can't figure it out with diskpart and neither format with windows, "There is no disk drive in D:. Insert a disk and then try again". The only thing i can do is change drive letters and paths.
I tried on different pc, usb ports, adapter, phone and still same problem. I also tried different tool on windows but they can't recognize it!
Cleaning sd doesn't work and chipgenius controller part-number: Unknown.
How can i solve it? Thanks a lot
These are cheap. Not worth the risk of future data lose, replace it. I been running Sandisk Extremes, zero issues.
Once in phone leave it there and always format it first in that device before using.
Never share that card with other devices; upload/download data to it through the phone.
I want at least to format it so i can try with some tool to recover my data

Find a flashcard data recovery tool from Lexar, WD, etc. Try that.
