Unbrick sony xperia m4 aqua - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Hi guys, today I will learn you how to unbrick the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua.
Requirements :
- A Sony Xperia M4 Aqua (I use a E2303, but others will work as well)
- A USB cable
- A computer/laptop (With Flashtool and the Drivers installed)
- Firmware which will be flashed ( Download them here )
Lets get started :
1. Boot your computer
2. Open Flashtool
3. Click the flash icon in the top
4. Check Flash Mode and press "Ok"
5. Select the folder where you placed the downloaded firmware
6. Exclude everything except : Kernel, System, Data, Cache and Appslog
7. Click "Flash"
8. Wait for a dialog to appear
9. Now power off your device and unplug the USB cable (if you cant, hold volume down + power while it is connected to your pc)
10. Hold Volume Down and plug the USB cable (When u did it correct you will see the same thing as in the attachments)
11. Now wait for the flashtool to complete (Don't touch the phone or USB cable during the flash procedure)
12. When it's done, voila your phone is just like new
Enjoy it, if you have any questions... Feel free to ask them

Good work, man. :good:

my phone is stuck here

all worked ok, restart and stuck at this screen, flashed as in your tutorial and still here, what happened ?
I had installed apps2sd and moved some apps
latest firmware E2303_26.1.A.2.167_CE

ok, got it run after flash everithing, but it didnt worked at first time, had to flash few times, 3 or 4 times
do not use fsc script when flasing with Flashtool, it will cancel flash
now the phone is without custom recovery and without SU root, but I'll leave it like this till next year
HAPPY NEW YEAR XDA

Successfully unbricked

I had similar experience. I had to flash 3 times, before it finally worked. I didn't flash everything, but just about what was suggested in the guide. It left me with a factory-like device, but still with TWRP recovery, which was what had led to my device being useless (it would only boot into recovery mode!). Now I can boot into recovery mode with vol- + power and I quickly installed SuperSu, so I now have a rooted device, just like I wanted

How to force shutdown the phone? The battery can't be taken out and holding the power button only causes reboot (I have my phone stuck in the bootloop) ://

the phone have a hidden button near the microsd slot it says "OFF"
this button will force shutdown, keep pressed about 3-5 secs
the buttom is hidden in a little hole so you will need to push it with a pin or a needle

Ok, I managed to turn it off, another problem haha ;-; Basically, the phone reboots itself when in flashmode for 1 minute or so. So I can't flash anything ;-;

I can not find the option data

To do that, the USB debugging must be activated. And if the phone "died" before activating debugging, Is there any other way?

Stock Firmware Bricked
Hi one question, my stock xperia m4 e2363 got bricked by itself. I mean, I haven't flashed anything, it's with factory software. One day I decided to make a Factory Reset and since then it reboots randomly, it gets stucked and reboots on loading screen, etc.
My question is, can I use this process with my stock phone, without root, without BL unlocked?
Im in Colombia, will this indian firmware affect the dual sim system or the operator bands?
I will appreciate any help.
Thanks a lot.

try to relock your Bootloader via Flashtool, go into Sony Update Service and it should detect your device normally, otherwise it just says no to your device because the Bootloader is unlocked.

Hey gang this may sound like I'm being rude and I don't have a FIX for this but if you have a laptop, it's best to try and do stuff like this on your laptop. Even if you have a desktop PC on a UPS, sometimes the UPS won't last long enough to complete the operation in the event of a power outage.
I always run these on my laptop.
yeah ive realized after this mistake i should probably flash with my sisters laptop.. phone was plugged in for a while and it was blinking red > solid red> nothing > blinking red.. so dont know whats up with phone
although ive never messed with bootloader the thing is im not with the provider that sells this phone, i bought it off someone on a BST site and unlocked it for my own provider. ill have to see if i can still warranty it.

From my experience... this phone just won't die... believe it or not.... tried one the craziest attempt to kill my friend's phone... (He want his phone to be dead in order to replace with Z1)
I just can't kill it....
I pulled out the USB cable when it was almost finish flashing... then I got the red LED..
Next I fired up Flashtool and chose flashing and load up the FTF and connect the phone when instructed by holding vol down and connect USB cable... surprise... surprise.... the phone is detected and start flashing...
With locked bootloader it is virtually impossible to kill this phone...

Just try this one.
Press the red button near the SIM tray until you feel vibration.

1. Plug in your wall charger for about an hour.
Please don't connect the phone yet to PC.
2. Open Flashtool, select flash (the lightning logo).
3. Load up your XZU FTF and continue.
4. Wait until it shows the connection instruction.
5. Now by holding down the "Vol Down" and connect the USB.
Hope this helps if not your last option will be service center...
Good Luck.
Merry Christmas.

Hello I Want To Ask U If I Flash Stock.ftf 4.3 From PAC ROM My IMEI Lost Right Is That Caused My Xperia Dont Want To Boot?
Please If Someone Know About It Please Reply As ASAP
Has it still got recovery? If so then you will need to flash a stock boot.img.
I guess you have an unlocked bootloader if so then the dual recovery one by ChilliChan for 4.3 will be ideal
Very interested to know a solution to this, here is my story,
I have 2 Z Ultras, 1 working fine with Root, UL-Bootloader, CyanMod, TWRM, and CWM.
The other.... well here's it's story.
I rooted the phone on 4.2, and went to OTA update to 4.3 last night. When I woke, My phone showed the dead android with the red exclamation.
No problem right? I used Sony PCC and attempted to recover, it said that your phone might be damaged and aborted the recovery process.
After that, my phone won't respond to me anymore, flashmode don't show any LED nor screen, Fastboot don't show any LED or screen, even the RED reset button doesn't cause my phone to vibrate. Plugging it in a wall socket gives no response.
Any ideas? Only rooted, Bootloaded is Locked, no recovery.
The only thing I had before I OTA update was root. I repeat, no recovery, bootloader is locked, no LED response, RED button doesn't work.

@YawningCat I think we need some more details - it is possible to get the phone re-working from a flashing red led.
"Device connected with USB debugging off" suggests that the device is partly powered on
these are the steps I would try, exactly as they are below:
1/ download (if you haven't got already) a generic, or one from your area, copy of .290 - I think I have seen you say that this is what you were trying to flash? if you have not already tried to flash .290 try .532 first as then you will not have imei issues.
2/ make sure all drivers for flashtool are installed - adb, s1, fastboot, etc
3/ start flashtool and select flash (lightning bolt)
4/ select flash mode
5/ select the ftf from step 1
6/ wait for flashtool to tell you to connect the phone
7/connect the usb cable to the PC
8/ press the red reset button until the phone vibrates
9/ connect the usb plug to the phone while holding the volume down key
10/ hope like hell it flashes

How can I recover a bricked phone?

I bricked my phone, and I can't do anything with it. when I try to turn off the phone with power+vol up or when I try to turn it on then nothing happens. When I connect it to pc via usb cable then just the pc recognizes that I plugged in an usb device but it says it's unknown. I can't get into flashmode. I have my bootloader locked. My phone is a Xperia Z2.
now when I connect it to pc via usb cable it writes:

That is not bricked... Learn how to use Flashtool, this is just a normal message that the phone is connected.
What is a bricked phone?
A bricked phone does NOT vibrate or show anything on a screen (useless as a brick). If you can boot up, then your phone is soft-bricked.
Boot into fastboot mode
Turn off your phone, hold the "up" button and start the phone. Do that until you see "Device connected in Fastboot mode". Now you can flash a kernel. And you should really work on your post quality. You haven't even told us which phone you have.

I know how to use flashtool, and by your definitions, my device is bricked, and I have told you that my device is a Xperia Z2
First step: Make sure your phone is REALLY turned off, I mean completely. A blank screen doesn't mean it is off. Open the USB/ micro SIM flap and carefully press the little red button until it vibrates 3 times. That will do.

Then repair it by Flashtool or PC Companion. If you use Flahstool please select all the 3 wipes, and No final verification and Reset customizations for a clean install and less chance of a bootloop.

I had a very bad experience with an SP (C5303), almost brand new and phone was like a hard brick...turns out it was on a zombie state eating the battery; so when I found out the phone was unresponsive the battery was completely dead so Flashtool couldn't connect. Then I proceed to let the phone charging overnight and then it turned on like nothing never happened.

There is one important information missing, what did you do that bricked your phone? Unless you really messed up your bootloader or TA partition you should be able to recover with flashtool. Most of the times flashtool fails it's a problem on your pc...check if correct drivers are installed, remove android emulators if you have any (andy, bluestacks) as they conflit with flashtool sometimes.
Very Best solution for this is when you connect your Phone to PC and start PC Companion, there is option repair Phone. It's download the correct version and instal on the Phone then all Working fine even when you have bricked Phone.
I do that more than once and It's working

Brick after update in Honor with TWRP?

Hey guys, I think I just bricked my Honor.
My device is unlocked and has TWRP. After I rooted I received the update to B151, I downloaded it, the phone rebooted to TWRP, installed the update by itself and now it doesn't boot . It's stucked at the first Honor screen, I can shut it down but after that the phone boots up after 10secs. When I keep pressed any key the phone doesn't boot, but when I release them I tries to boot, being stucked at the Honor screen.
I tried putting it to charge, connecting it to the PC and rebooting to recovery via adb (I couldn't) and no signal of life. Is this a bootloop? A complete brick? Any ideas? Thanks for the help

Hello
first thing don't panic. If you can get in TWRP it's easy to fix
hold volup+voldown+power to get back to TWRP
hook the phone to your PC and copy this stock recovery to your sdcard
Now in TWRP choose Install / Image choose the recovery.img the tick the recovery box / then swipe to flash. You now have stock recovery.
now download the update.zip here > https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24499762636004244
and copy that file to a folder on your ext_sdcard called dload once its copied in TWRP choose
Reboot / Recovery. the update should flash upon entering recovery.
If it doesn't hold the volup+voldown+power again and let it reboot now it should flash and your phone will be fixed and updated to b151

sometimes I let it reboot once and then let go power and hold just the volume keys and it will go into recovery. other time just volume up + power takes you to recovery
the phone is pretty strange like that

Tried VolUp+VolDown+Power and didn't work, tried just VolUp+Power a neither. Mantained just VolUp+VolDown and now it looks like accessed to EMUI Recovery (The screen shows the EMUI logo and says "Huawei software installing. DO NOT unplug usb or press any key"). Not idea what to do now

Nothing happened. Rebooted and it's stuck again at the first Honor screen. I can still access to the EMUI download mode but I can't access to the TWRP (or at least I don't know how)
EDIT: adb recognizes that the phone it's connected when it's at the Honor screen but it's unauthorized

to enter fastboot mode
1. Place the device in fastboot mode:
Turn off the device. (then wait for at least 2 seconds) For a mobile phone, press and hold the volume down and power keys simultaneously for at least 10 seconds (for a tablet, press and hold the volume up and power keys).
2. If the above operations do not switch the device to fastboot mode, please try the following steps:
Turn off the device. (then wait for at least 2 seconds) Then insert the USB cable and press and hold the volume down and power keys simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.
Step 2 worked for me every time

This is what happened to me also but finally i've managed to get my device back on, you can try the emergency software recovery and initialization from smart switch from your pc/laptop (i've tried to flash official firmwares with odin but got no luck)... all you need is a good internet connection and write down your device S/N where you can find this on the back of your phone (beneath the battery).
PS: You will lose all of your data and apps on your internal phone memory

You're welcome mate...
My 910C running DN7 soft bricked too using the white note 7 zip. The white note 4 zip worked fine. Thanks to KnG-Iking for recovery method. As previously mentioned by others the phone after SB only goes to download mode but you cannot Odin anything. A computer will be required to fix/restore boot. So be careful because even with a backup you will have a lengthy restore process. To the Op, I had exposed installed if that helps troubleshooting the zip.

Boot loop - Can't power off, no recovery, won't boot

Hello,
I've got a Realme 7. Tried to update a ROM, something happened, lost recovery, not it's boot looping.
I understand what I need to do - Reflash stock rom and recovery.
However, I can't get my phone to power off, I can't get the USB filters installed, I can't do anything...
Holding power does nothing, holding vol + and power does nothing...It just keeps looping back to the realme logo.
I assume, if I can get it powered off, I can then hold volume up and down to get libusb to recognize it and then go from there. However, I'm at a loss...
Thanks.

Open the USB filters wizard, and pay attention when the device is trying to boot, you could install it, see which item is added. To completely power off the device, you just have to press the three buttons simultaneously.
Yeah, can't get it to the point where

Yeah, can't get it to the point where the device gets added.
The 3 buttons doesn't seem to work either. Just black screen, then Realme logo - Orange state - Your device will boot in 5 seconds.
It just goes black again, and back to the realme logo.
Can't get to do anything.

In the short time it is going to blank screen it is power off, then immediately it is trying to boot, I faced the same a lot of times. A variant, pressing vol up + PWR also device gets off, when device is trying to boot, tap on the item newly added and install it, open firstly the libUSB wizard and keep it open, and visible to you.
Yeah, I can't get it. Doesn't seem to detect that the phone is connected to my computer at all. Nothing shows up in the USB filters...Doesn't seem to matter when I press volume up and down throughout the process...

Install all the previous drivers needed.
Also you have this tool to flash recovery and see from there https://github.com/bkerler/mtkclient
To get it work you don´t need the LibUSB32, you have to find the short time device is trying to reboot to press the volume buttons to connect to the tool.

No, it's not dead, I had bricked my device even in a state of no signal of life at all, but I have completely working now, just I lost IMEI cause a bad flashing and back up gone.
You should start by flashing only the stock recovery, so you can try to flash an ozip from there, be sure your device has some charge now and check all the drivers you have installed.
Open device manager in Windows, and connect your PC while you are pressing buttons and so, and check how it is listed there.

hold volume + and power button for while, as soon as the screen turns off leave the button. your phone will successfully turn off. and to solve the problem. you need to download the official firmware which have scatter file and Remember to backup your NV data OR any NV RAM before flashing or you will loose IMEI number because of which many people are facing IMEI problem including me.. So after backup Flash the firmware with format all or re-partition and will successfully boot up. remember to restore NV DATA/NV RAM. you can use unlock tool to flash the firmware.
Same problem here... I change my Chinese GT2 Pro to Global, everythings fine, but when I tried to lock the bootloader a message apears saying the flash was broken or something and now it keeps flashing the "realme Powered by android" for 0,5 a sec and rebooting again and again and again... can't do absolute nothing...

hey, tazz, have you solved the problem yet? i'm currently on the same predicament as you are, just on a C12 instead of a 7.
Any one could recovery the phone after this problem? Seems that this problem is common, but I do not find any one that tells that fixed it and how did it...

Recover from what? There are many users including me that recovered the 99% of its functionalities. If you are referring to the IMEI, then, yes, and not, it´s not possible by any tools that available for end users, but it can be done through specialized hardware tools.

Bash:

Just search in the forum, there is not a guide all-in-one, but everything you need is here.
From unlock the bootloader, either officially or unofficially, using mtk-client, updating the drivers through Lib-USB, device filter, flashing every partition using the same tool or SP Flash tool.
Just a side note, Physical button don´t have to do with software issues, device not entering to a specific mode, is not because physical buttons are supposedly, not responding, but this stage is missing or unavailable. There are many posts and guides about unbricking this device, just search thoroughly through the forum.
