Can anyone confirm if Meizu m1 note doesnt have prediction on any keyboard? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
Update:I am aware of the keyboard issue(https://meizufans.eu/forum/topic/1494/i-can-t-move-the-keyboard-cursor).
Whether all 3rd party keyboards in meizu m1 note has to be used only by turning off the predictions to solve the cursor not moving issue. This is a deal breaker for me. I heard it doesnt support prediction on swiftkey…
I am deciding to buy either Lenovo a7000 or meizu m1 note. I inclined towards meizu m1 note but this keyboard is one of the deal breakers.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Is is worth to upgrade from Note 2 while waiting for Note Pro 8"?

Hello, I have a Galaxy Note 2. I don't find the need to upgrade to Note 3. I use the S-pen often to write notes and use the devise to read/annotate pdf. I also take photos very often and sometimes videos as well. I also use the voice recorder. I found the screen of the Note 2 a bit small. I have to change my glass and zoom in all the time. I have been waiting for the Note Pro 8" but disappointingly Samsung only announced the Tab Pro 8" without a S-pen. I suppose that in the summer or later this year, they will make the Note Pro 8" available. At that time, I will certainly buy it. Between now and then, I am considering whether or not to trade in my Note 2 for the Xperia Z Ultra. Any opinions appreciated.

Do you take a lot out photos? If yes, i would skip the Ultra to be honest.
I have note 3 and XZU and if you take a lot of pics then stay away from Xperia Z Ultra. The camera is very bad and pictures have a lot of noise in them.
I am going to do a photoshoot with the Xperia to see how bad it really is. I am an amateur photographer but I will only take the phone this time to see what I come up with because when using ISO 50 and 100 I am getting decent results unlike when I first got the phone and was shocked how horrible things were.
Thanks for all the replies.
1. Somewhere I read that there is an optional lens that could make the device one of the best in terms of photo quality. Anybody tried it? Can't find it on the local Sony website.
2. I have an extra stylus from Note 1. In terms of drawing and writing, how the Xperia Z Ultra compared with the Note 3?
3. Is there a good screen protector to avoid scratches?
4. How about the voice recording capability?
5. Is it easy to do file transfer between the device and PC especially the Mac?
6. I use ezpdf reader. Does larger screen means seeing more things at larger size?
Before the Note Pro 8" comes out, if not trading-in for the Z Ultra, what do you recommend? Too bad the iPad Air and rMini do not have a phone function.
1. That's the QX10 and QX100.
2. The S-Pen and other Wacom styluses doesn't work.
3. I would think so, but I'm not using one, so I don't know.
4. Quality wise? No idea. Not using it.
5. No tools or programs are necessary on Windows to transfer files. It's just drag and drop. There is an Android transfer tool for Mac.
6. Yes. If you want even more space, lower the screen DPI. I think you'll be fine though.
Overall, it doesn't support the S-Pen or other specialized styluses. It supports regular pens and stuff like that. The camera isn't good either, but video recording is okay.
The Ultra is mostly targeted at business people who has to handle a lot of documents (especially reading) and stuff like that, and it won't match your criterias if you like to draw and use styluses. It's a powerful tool, but I personally think you'll be happier with something that has all these stuff you're asking about integrated in a better way (like a Note).
Can I ask you what you plan on using it for? Work? Studies? Hobby?

Do you think note pro 8 gonna have phone function? as i recall, tab pro doesnt. Coz if tab pro have phone function, i might buy that one
It really comes to size I owned 6 of the note 2's nice phone but too small for me, I owned a note 3 which is a great phone to me it was much better then the note 2 but also too small - it lasted 2 days and I went back to the ultra once you use this Sony for a few days it is very hard to back to anything smaller. The note pro 8 does looking very interesting I am also looking for something bigger to replace my galaxy tab 7.7

I have been using the ultra for a week now and I think it's time to sell my note 2

I am a scientist. I use it mainly for work and hobby. In the past, I printed out lots of power point slides and pdf files for reading. However, I cannot carry all these with me while traveling. I am looking for a device that is excellent for annotating research papers and power points in pdf format. I like to take photos and videos. I spend about 1.5-2 hours on public transportation. Want to get some work done while waiting at the bus stop or on the bus or train. If there were a Note Pro of about 8" (with S-pen and phone capability), that would be the best. I would just trade in my phone for such device. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Samsung decided not to release a Note Pro 8" but a Tab Pro 8". Is this a marketing strategy? Anybody has an idea when the Note Pro 8" would be out? I guess probably in the Fall. Considered to get the 12.2" Note Pro. Not sure if it is too heavy to use while waiting for the bus at the bus stop.
I tried the device in a store today. I viewed the same pdf file from both the Ultra Z and my Galaxy Note 2. Viewing the pdf from the Ultra Z was much better. The background was white and the letters were clear. Everything looked good until I tried the camera. The images were very bad compared with the same ones taken from my Galaxy Note 2. Wonder if I should buy the iPad Mini Retina Display or iPad Air. Then, trade in for the Note Pro 12.2 or Note Pro 8 later.

The camera is not too bad in good light, and is even usable if you don't use the stock camera app
I tried it in a store. It was very bright! Do you mean using other camera apps could lead to better quality photos? Which one do you recommend?

Is Xiaomi Redmi Note better than SGS3?

Hello everyone,
I've had my sgs3 over a year now and enjoyed every bit of it. now im looking for a replacement but on cheaper side. it doesn't need to be a flagship and I mostly look for gamin and multimedia capabilities with best camera for the price. so I came across Xiaomi Note Enhanced version for about 200$ and it seems just about perfect. mainly Meadiatek 1.7Ghzx8 CPU, Mali-450 GPU with 2gb ram it seems like a steal. but Im afraid of what Im losing and what Im gaining.I have no expierince with MIUI evr. so if you can share your thought, Its much appreciated.
1. would MIUI run every droid game and apps like regular Android? (I know about xposed not working. but im concerned about TB, Greenify, SuperSU, Root Explorer.
2. It says Mali-450 is 1.4x improvement over Mali-400. but our SGS3 runs mali400mp4 and clocked 533. so how would this par?
3. I dont care about screen mirroring DLNA and stuff. but for sound quality I crave. so anyone have expierience with xiaomi sound, input will be a great help.
4. for the last, I would like to know your opinion as I think of giving my s3 to my gf if I got satisfied with Redmi Note. but of course never leave the forum sake of im a xda user who wouldn't use a phone in regular manner is it worth to give away s3 over this redmi note?
Thank you.
I just got the Redmi Note, maybe this will help you a little?

Custom ROMs will be a problem since there aren't enough devs to port or build roms for that device.
And I've spoken to just 2 Xiaomi users and they don't like it at all. It's not just about the number of cores in the CPU or GPU. MTK is A-7 based and offers poor performance compared to A-9 or A-15 CPU.

Damn! such a bad news. My budget is $200 dollars and the lists of phones I have in mind are: Xiaomi Redmi Note,iOcean X7 Elite,THL T11 MTK6592 and Huawei Honor 3C Quad Core.. But like you see they all have MTK.... Sinse all have the same performance I was thinking to get one well known company better..
Go for redmi note. You, as a normal user, won't give rat's ass about a15, a9 etc. The a7 octa gives enough performance for everyday use. And miui is da bomb

I agree, good performance, and redmi note is a good phone

Hopefully you held off for the Note 2 it's @ 1.7GHz , not the 1.4 GHz the original note was at.
Development is centered at the MIUI site, go there for more info.
Over all the phone is fast, very fast, so fast you will only see the difference between the A9/17 or Snapdragon 800 8274AB 2.3GHz and the A7 by software measurements.
I'm deciding between the Note 2 and the THL 5000.
5½" and 3300mAh Vs 5" and 5000mAh
so at the end,
which smart phone did you buy ?
i already bought a Redmi Note
still enjoying it
Well... I have two units here just arrived...Almost everything work as it should, but I have problems making data connection working. Wi-fi works great, but data over mobile network doesn't want to work at all. I've checked out on both units using different SIM cards (from different providers). I have to mention that the SIM cards work using other phones. AND I have to say that didn't want to sign up yet for any of the xiaomi services (cloud and rest). It must be somewhere in MIUI a setting. MIUI is a customised version of Android.
For the price seems to be a good product.

there are 3 version of redmi note2 (which you probably have). One of them is made for China 3g networks and other is WSCDMA.
When battery is removed you can read which version you have (maybe it's not usable on your networks).
Bought redmi note recently and I can say that it feels faster that Samsung Note 2 (I have both phones).
xiaomi phones are not replacement but best phones
...in terms of hardware specs and value for money, looks is something personal. Why branded phones are very expensive are because of their marketing cost and the cost attached to the brand value. Other than that xiaomi phones are very good.
My cousin bought the Xiaomi Mi3 and i bought a Redmi 1S for my fiance and both the phones are awesome and have very good camera and sound quality.
I have been using Galaxy S3 since 2012, and let me tell you I have been using MIUI Rom even before on my Sony Xperia X10, so as I got my S3 i rooted it and installed MIUI rom.
Yes, all your apps and games will run without any problem as it is Android, every manufacturer have their own version of Launcher and apps to differentiate their phones. What made me fall in love with MIUI were its native apps and features (like call recording which is available only when rooting, but in Xiaomi phones this is built in), and themes (you can change everything to your liking with one click- the dialer, messaging, statusbar, wallpaper, bopot animation, lockscreen, font, etc. or change each individually, and their themes are awesome).
I would suggest you to go for Xiaomi Mi3 if it suits your budget. But if you already have Samsung Galaxy S3 and if its performing good enough, then no point buying a phone with similar hardware. I am waiting for Mi4 to launch in India. Its a kickass phone (google it).
keep 'em both
Got both phones. Still love my SGS3 for the customizations.
More Redmi Note ROMs here:
http://en.miui.com/thread-26132-1-1.html
flashed mine with the ported Color OS. performed better than the original MIUI OS. you could also try the AOSP ROM faux 4.4.2 (actually its just 4.2.2) seem nice. i just dont like the developer switched the main storage for the external and so on..

Old Galaxy s4 or Redmi 3?

I have a 3 years old galaxy s4 and i can exchange it for a new redmi 3.
was reading the reviews on phone arena, gsm arena,... and all reviews were praising the phone.
i love the fact that it has 720p display and a 4100mah battery (omg). and aslo in reviews they said that the camera makes great pictures. all i need is good battery life, music, browsing and camera and i think the redmi 3 has all this things.
but i was reading in this forum and some people arent happy with it and i am wondering why?
also i would like to know if there will be a marshamllow update and if there are any good roms for it.
should i exchange my s4 for redmi 3?
I think you should)
I changed my lg g2 (d802) after failed flash to Redmi 3 and happy with it)
@ManBearrrPig I just switched from the S4 (now with broken SIM-Card reader) to the Redmi 3.
And I am also traveling a lot and therefore I though of a phone with more battery capacity. The Redmi is great! The following video helped me alot:
Watch the video and then decide for yourself. The video shows all (!) pro and cons.
After consideraton i decided to go for moto g 3rd gen. I can get redmi 3 for 130€ and moto g for 140€. Moto g has better xda support and i think its better overall. But thank you guys for your feedback

Realme 3 pro or RN7 Pro

I need to buy phone for someone who is not very tech savvy. After doing multiple rounds of research, I have zero'ed in on Realme 3 pro or Redmi Note 7 Pro.
RN7 Pro over RM3 pro: Splash resistance, better 4g+ (3CA vs 2CA), more community support (if it comes to changing ROM, however I doubt, probably would be used all stock), type C USB
RM3 Pro over RN7 Pro: Dedicated microSD card slot, MIUI is bloated on RN7p
I'm unsure about camera, but I think RM3p has better camera than rn7p (both front & back)
Now I'm posting in Realme forums means i'm inching towards Realme, just wanted to know if there are any major problems with this set ? How is the ROM, is it stable for daily use?
I know RM5 pro is also around the corner, but I feeling buying a new phone can be risky as there is no feedback of actual product.

Hello @Mafioso
I just received Realme 3 Pro 6/128gb model. Previously i was using Redmi Note 7 non Pro version because the Pro version is only indian exclusive. So if i compared it with RN7, yes Realme 3 Pro is better in some ways. But yes there is very little android development for RM3P.
Here are some Pros and Cons of RM3P
Pros of RM3P:
- Fast, latest and battery efficient chip
- Far better cameras than RN7 (but i heard that RN7P camers are way better than normal RN7, but never tested by myself)
- Very little android development
- Vooc charging and vooc charger is also included in the box.
And maybe more
Cons:
- Completely Plastic made
- No type C port
- maybe more
Conclusion
So, if you are a guy who want to flash different roms than RM3P is not for you. But overall a good device with good hardware that can handle everyday task easily and a good battery.
Sent from my RMX1851 using Tapatalk
After 3 months of using realme 3 pro I suggest you buy redminote 7 pro. It's not a bad phone, but the OS color is still unripe ... MIUI is much better and well optimized.
Realme 5 pro if you want color os or redmi note 7 pro for miui, miui is more stable in day to day usage and snappy.

[Q] Screen-off note/ memo for OP7T Pro

Is there anything vaguely similar like the Samsung Galaxy Note "screen-off memo" available for OnePlus 7T Pro?
I couldn't find anything on the PlayStore.....
Ideally, it would be gesture activated when screen is off, & recognise finger input for drawing/ doodles (not just typing-input).
Any recommendations?

Haven't seen an app like this, and that was firmware based on note products with a s pen built into the phone and the s pen triggered that so called gesture. If you wanted another stylus phone, I think you picked the wrong phone. As for me my last Samsung was a note 8 and really didn't use the s pen so this phone is great for me. If you want quick notes, try voice dictation with Google. Ex ok Google. Take note then speak note
This is why I got a Tab S4, my tablet has some cool features, but I don't use them nearly enough to justify the price tag and bloated software on my phone

I did not want another stylus phone - this is not what I meant.
There are many apps available for all android phones which accept finger input for drawing/ doodles etc. If this could be (technically possible??) made available for when screen is off - can be very handy (same reasons as SG Note series "screen-off memo".
Only difference being, instead of stylus removal activating this feature, in non-stylus phones it could be activated by gestures (similar to those gestures which activate torch or camera while screen is off).
