Installing stock firmware showing up as German? - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I am trying to install stock firmware for Vodafone UK, now when I use the files from Sammobile, it installs ok but with German Vodafone apps.
Am I doing something wrong?
I have tried several of the updates from Sammobile under G925F, they all do the same thing any advice would be very welcomed?
Thanks

Why not try installing the latest unbranded firmware? It sounds like you are doing everything right. Maybe your language settings are messed up? Just a guess.

I tried that, and whilst that gives me the correct language and is bloat free, it doesn't give me the wifi calling feature due to be launched by Vodafone UK, implying the feature is built into the firmware.

[Q] Where can I download O2 Branded Firmware ?

Hi,
I have recently flashed my Samsung Galaxy S2 with KE7 update which debranded my phone. Then I searched an O2 branded firmware from this website but after flashing my phone with this firmware, I am having two problems. Firstly, when I insert my sim it not only asks O2 Pay monthly customers but also asks for Tesco customer option which is quite strange. Secondly, I am not able to do any updates from KIES as it gives error message of THIS VERSION OF THE PHONE CANNOT BE UPDATED.
Can some one please help me to find out original O2 branded firmware? or how to solve this problem please?

Why is it strange you have unbranded firmware not belonging to O2 with a CSC that gives as required the O2 networks of which Tesco is a VN .
But as the man said stock O2 is available if you want to go that route .

Dude you seriously need to learn to use the quote function. It's kind of hard to figure out were the poster you are replying to post ends and your response begins.
@OP: You will have option for O2 PREPAY, O2 POST PAY and TESCO. This is normal since Tesco mobile piggy back on the O2 network, Just select O2 PostPay if you're on a contract.

Thanks for the quick response ... I was confused because previously I only had two options: O2 Pay Monthly customer, O2 Pay As you Go. I got worried because of this Tesco options as I was afraid that it may void my warranty.
Secondly, I am not able to update this version from KIES. Is it because of the current firmware version or is it because there is no update available? My phone's firmware details are as follows:
PDA: I9100XXKE7
CSC: I9100O2UKG2
Thanks again for your help.

There may just not be any firmware update out, 3UK was still on KE2 till not very long ago (not that i was on stock for more than 10min).
If you want to you can just flash a stock rom via odin, you dont need to change your CSC to a new one. (its just APN settings, and any silly bundles apps)

I have just downloaded PDA: XWKE2 version for O2 UK from the given link but it is a .exe file. I assume that file should be either .zip or .tar file. How can I use .exe file to flash my mobile?

I have just downloaded KE2 firmware and thinking to flash KE7 version to KE2 (not sure if its a good idea) but there is a problem. The file I have downloaded from the above given link is a .exe file and I am not sure if this is the right file to use to flash my mobile?
Further, I don't know how to change CSC. Is it something we do manually or is it done automatically when we flash the firmware?
Thanks

No, bad idea, thats going backwards.
KE(X) > KF(X) > KG(X)
The exe is a self extracting archive if you had read the thread, you click it and it will extract to where you want it to.
Do some more reading about version numbers.
When flashing via odin CSC is just a part of the rom you might put into odin, as it says in the thread.

Yes you are right it is going backwards but my only motive behind this is to bring my mobile into a very simple way of updating via KIES. May be after coming to KE2 version, KIES might update it to any latest update for O2. Please advise.
Hi again,
Just wanted to share an update of my problem. I just flashed my mobile with a backward firmware of KE2 from KE7 and thought it will help to update my firmware with Kies but there is the same message displaying again, 'This version of the device cannot be updated'. :s I need help to resolve this problem as I want to send my mobile for warranty claim coz it restarts sometimes while using it and also its overheated when I use it while charging. I am worried that having a different firmware than the original one may create problem for warranty claim. ANY SOLUTION PLEASE??

Flash the O2 firmware and do a hard reset, after resetting flash the same firmware again.

Hi again,
I have some good news. I flashed my mobile with KE2 and had the same problem with KIES as it gave me same message, 'this device version cannot be updated' but when I tried update firmware from mobile setting options it detected a newer available version and so it installed KE7 version and after restart it gave me a message of additional firmware which I confirmed and now I have XWKF3 installed in my mobile. Which is a big relief now.
P.S Kies still shows the same message, 'This mobile version cannot be updated'.

Thanks a lot for this suggestion. I am bit not sure as my phone updated its firmware by using firmware update method in its settings. Now it shows its firmware as XWKF3 . Should I follow this method now which you suggested in above mentioned post to resolve this KIES update issue? and which firmware should I use to flash it ?

[Q] unable to up SGS2 to ICS

Hi,
I have an Orange branded SGS2 running the stock Andriod and Kies doesn't let me upgrade to ICS. Message "Your device does not support upgrading via kies", but as I understand it, this is because it has a different Phone firmware. I have been trying to look for the right one, but the links are dead in this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928 .
When I type *#1234#, it gives me:
PDA: I9100BVKH2
Phone: I9100XXLPQ
CSC: I9100ORAKH2
Now I'm guessing only the Phone firmware is wrong, as my sister has the same phone, also Orange, and her's gives the following info:
PDA: I9100BVKH2
Phone: I9100BVKH1
CSC: I9100ORAKH2
So my question(s), is this the problem? And if it is, anyway I can only update the "Phone" firmware, without having to reinstall everything, if so, anyone got a link to the BVKH1 phone firmware? If no one does, anyway of extracting this from my sister's phone?
And if it's not the problem, how can I solve Kies not wanting to upgrade it?
Thanks!
Search Samfirmware.com for the firmware you're after.

Why don't you get I9100BVKJ4 (with CSC I9100ORAKJ4) from samfirmware.com then? This is UK Orange, and is a higher version than BVKH1.
Or, download I9100BVLPB (with CSC I9100ORALPB, which is also UK Orange) which is 4.0.3, and the one you would likely get through Kies anyways?

I actually didn't know this was possible, thought I'd only be able to using the firmware I had when I received it.. And I'm guessing I'll have to backup my apps using titanium backup as this removes everything right?

Shouldn't remove ANYthing, actually. (aside from root if you have it) These are all non-wipe packages.
It's usually recommended to do a wipe before an install, but you don't have to.
But backing up before flashing is always a good idea.

Thanks very much! Worked like a charm!

New firmware did not flash.

Last week I headed over to Sammobile and updated my latin american Samsung Galaxy Mega i9200 to different firmware, (Thailand) But I tried again yesterday with the newly listed firmware from China and it would not flash. Is there any particular reason China Firmware would not work?
Thanks

As long as it was also for the I9200 it should work, have you rooted the device? You may have to unroot and flash it.

No, it's not rooted and it was definitely for the I9200 and I had no problem flashing other firmware, so i thought maybe the China firmware was for a specific carrier? I noticed there is also a new Taiwan firmware, which I will try. There is also a Ukraine one, but along side that one, it mentions a carrier, so I assume that automatically means it wont work. Not sure, but I thought it would be a bad idea to flash one that shows the country & carrier in brackets.

Just flashed the Taiwan Firmware that was added today at Sammobile, no problem. Not as current as the China one, (MF3 vs. MF4) but it worked. Must be something I'm missing on the china one.

Odin is your friend, no need for root or twrp. OTA will work. I live in the Netherlands and dirty flashed the unbranded UK/Irish version on my son's G925F, which had a Nordic Marshmallow version installed. Worked fine. The Vodafone branded version for the Netherlands did not work, but maybe I should have removed the SIM card first, since this was no Vodafone SIM. You can change the language into any language you prefer.

If you go to the firmware page of sammobile you will find the instructions for installing and using Odin. It's not complicated. I did a dirty flash and that went well. All apps and data were unaffected.
