How to transfer pictures and videos saved on internal memory to SD - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My internal storage is almost completely used up and it's mainly because of the pictures and videos I took. How do I move them to SD? I'm using Cyanogenmod 12.1

Go to storage in settings and the 2nd to bottom option is to transfer data to sd card! Done!!

Or use a file manager and transfer to your SD card only the videos and images that you choose.
I have to say though, that the method mentioned above, is nuch easier and less time consuming

I do not see this option?

It should be here!!

using a file manager like root explorer or file commander is the best i think, but it probably work in other ways to

I sure am surprised CM would have fewer features than stock.

Can you select micro SD as default storage for camera?

I was just wondering if you are able to select the sd card in the camera setting to use it as storage for pictures and recorded videos you've taken rather than use the internal memory.
Yes you can set the camera to default store to the SD card.

Yup, once its inserted, it asks you once you first open it. Then just select it.

or you just go into settings from the cam app and select from there
But burst mode shots default to internal regardless if setting is set to sd card. I can only assume to capture so fast without writing to card. A bit annoying.

external memory card

hello peeps
fews days ago rooted and flashed to jelly bean, just noticed that any pictures i take go to the internal memory, when taking pictures or video there is no option to select which memory you can store them on any ideas, and plz no sarcastic comments:crying:
sorry i dont have an answer for you but i noticed the same thing, also pc does not see phone when connecting via usb so cant see anyway to drag and drop files onto my external sd card.

While in the camera app, click on the settings icon. It's the one shaped like a gear. Scroll to the second to last option, which is "Storage." Select "Phone" for internal storage or "Memory card" for MicroSD.
Let me know if that is what you were looking for.
As I stated in my original post in the camera app there is no option to choose your storage

Does your memory card show up under Settings/Storage?
Yeah, shows up in storage, shows available space and unmount and format. Tried amounting and mounting but no change.
It also shows up in any file explorer and I can access all files, but no luck on the apps listed .its not really a massive problem as I will live with it till official release comes out with, but if it's a simple fix or me just being thick I will sort it.had issues with S2 and memory card on custom roms, but this has really thrown me due to it being there but not in some apps?

What 4.2 camera are you using?
I use INFECTION 2.1 [Neo's CM10.1] and it saves to sdcard0/DCIM by default [sdcard0 = microSD, sdcard1 = emmc].
i posted this when I was on Sense. Since moving to CM also, it is saving to the external. I forget if back on sense with the flashable 4.2 camera that was posted if it used internal, of if I wasn't used to the naming convention as you mentioned.

[Q] Basic s3 rom info.

hi guys
theres a few things that i need to know if somebody could be so kind to assist or point in the right direction.
i have my s3 international for the past month now. i had put cyanogenmod 10.1 and it had its issues yet my titanium back up and my sd card was working fine. now i got my s3 back yesterday with stock rom and i flashed it and put cwm then restored a backup of the old nightlies then i did an update with the new nightloies, problem is that now none of my images are there and titanium backup is giving me the elements failed when i try to restore missing apps. how do i go about restoring my images from a nandroid backup? or where is it? i like this rom but now i noticed that the battery drain lasst night was like 15%. as you can see im still a noob at this so i cant check logs etc cos i dont know where to look. i have attached screenshots that might help.
Images are either stored on your internal or external SD card, in the DCIM folder. If they aren't on your external SD then you have lost them, nandroid doesn't back up the internal SD unless you tell it to and service would have wiped the internal SD.
Ask in your ROM thread for specific help, but I'd suggest flashing a fresh version of the ROM without performing any restore - see how it runs for a few days before you add any apps.
If you aren't confident then best stick with stock, or an modded version of stock, for a while first.
so what section do questions go?

thank you, very good advice. i will miss those apps for those few days tho. i think that if titanium back up will work i will get all my images etc back.
going to try your advice now and if i dont come right ill be back right here.
thanks again
Mate, if your images aren't on your internal or external sd card - they ain't there. No amount of titanium backup fiddling will restore your images.
Regarding your apps, play store will have a record of anything you have downloaded. Menu, my apps, slide left. Profit.

so you saying that if i ddi a nandroid backup and a full titanium backup and if i did a wipe then i will still lose all my images etc??
Mate, using a file browser, look in your DCIM folder on BOTH the internal and external SD cards.
If you can't find it, download a software called Recuva. It works like a charm. Sure, they'll be some corrupt images, but, most of them are there.

The point of an SD card ?

I bought an SD card a couple weeks ago and its pretty much useless since everything I download always goes into my internal storage. Maybe I am doing something wrong here? So what's the point of having one

Or use something like ES File Explorer File Manager from the Play Store or am alternative browser like Dolphin. ES has a downloader that is one of the choices when downloading a file from the web. In the ES settings you can set its default download location to the external card. Dolphin lets you pick the download location at each download. The TouchWiz camera and some others let you specify where to store photos.
Also, Titanium backup and other backup apps let you back up to the external card.
And most important of all, especially if you are crack flashing TouchWiz ROMs, keep your TWRP or CWM backups on the external card. They can be 2 GB+ each if you don't use compression, and not much better if you do. I have a 16 GB Nexus 7 and its a constant battle with backup space. I usually keep one solid reference backup and my latest only. I would love to be able to throw a 64GB card in it.
