How to change to Google Now Launcher - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Could anyone advise me how to change to the Emotion UI v3.0 to Google Now Launcher please? I've tried a method which was used on the Honor 6/6+ but it doesn't seem to work for me. I want this phone as close to stock as possible!
Cheers

The regular way doesn't seem to work, hence the thread

Install the Google Launcher, then click on the Google Launcher icon, it will come up with the message, see image, click on the settings, scroll down and clear defaults, then go back to home, click on Google Launcher again, and it will give you the choice.

What the hell, I tried this 3 times yesterday and it wouldn't work, now it worked first time! Thanks for that.
PEBKAC!

I tried this and after installing GNL I didn't get an option to select it. I rebooted the phone and the option is now there. So if you have problems, try rebooting your phone after the installation.

I'm trying to do this on MM, but when I click on Settings nothing happens.
Any advice?

Use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.captainstu72.homeswitch
Works for me

Try set Google now launcher as default in Settings → App → advanced → something about default app → set, no ? :d

I have the same problem.
Once I tap on settings in the google now prompt it tries to open the settings but fails. Same with nova launcher or trying the settings from the configuration menu. Any solutions?

go to settings -> Manage Apps - > Click on the gear icon setting " Default App Settings" - > Click launcher -> choose your preferred launcher

Sometimes installing another launcher will make Google Now visible in the default home settings. So if GNL isn't showing in the home/launcher settings, try installing some random launcher, Apex for example, and then try going to settings again. This has worked for me before

gnl still not there
hi people wassnt going to route my phone but heard about GNL but i cnt seem to see it in the default apps. i have tried installing apex and that is there but still no joy. all i want to do is not to have the chinese writing on the keyboard and to log into my google account so all my contacts are there. on my phone.

Use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.captainstu72.homeswitch

[Q] Change app icon/name in bottom dock

I was wondering if it's possible to change an app's name and icon in the bottom dock? I can't seem to find any apps for it, the only ones (anycut, bettercut, desktop visualizer etc) I can find are only able to create shortcuts on the homescreen, but I can't put those in the dock.
I know there's LauncherPro/AWD, but I would like to keep using Touchwiz 4.
tl;dr:

You may consider trying out Bettercut or SuperShortcuts.
I have not tested those, but according to their features it looks to achieve what you are looking for.

Those apps create shortcuts on the homescreen, which you can't drag into the dock.

I don't want to use a launcher, but I would like to be able to to customise the icons and text. Something like what Desktop Visualiser does for home screen icons.
It should be possible since other launchers can do it, right? Or is TW a little bit too complicated?
I'm using Go Launcher Ex atm, it's pretty good but TouchWiz 4 feels faster and smoother.

Really?
My reading of the app description implies that one needs a launcher to make use of the dock customisation.
Correct me if I am wrong. If this is not the case then this may well be the answer. I am happy to pay for the app if it does the job; however I am reluctant to dive on in without confirmation that this is indeed the solution to the problem.
Can anyone confirm that Custom Launcher Icons can be used to edit the icon and text of a TW dock icon without the need for a launcher or root access?

Sorry for the wrong info guys!
Bummer. Thought we might have been on to something there. Never mind.
The search goes on.

[Q] Folders with Galaxy Ace

how can i put folders (NOT at the Home screen) in the menu screen. you know, you press the middle icon at the home screen wherein to enter the menu wherein you can see ALL the applications and stuff. i would love to organize those applications inside folders. but i can't seem to find the option where to do it. i am currently using coderom nexusace if that's even relevant. any help would be appreciated!
BR
Use GOlauncher EX.. Or Panda home(i think).. I've used GO Launcher before.. It was nice.. U can tap and hold any apps in drawer and put on top any other apps and it will create a folder..

Default Manger

Hi
Found this very useful app. Default App manager.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.appiator.defaultappmanager&feature=search_result
Thanks
This app seems to do the same thing the phone already does without having to install that app. Once you install an app that replaces a system app or another app the phone asks you which you want to have as default.
I really don't know the point of this app unless there's something else to it.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
That would be true except when I want to set a different app as the default app. See the case below.
I've Go dialer as the default dialer which was set when I got the prompt the first time I tried to use a dialer after installing the Go dialer. So I picked Go dialer as the default . Now with Default manager I can switch back to the stock dialer as the defaul without uninstalling Go dialer. Not sure how I can easily do that without the help of an app like Default Manager. If there is an easy way to do it without an app like this I would love to know it.
Thanks!

Again, that can also be done with the system the phone already has. All you have to do is go to settings/applications find the third party dialer and clear default. Now when you go and use the dialer, it will ask you again which you want as default. Once you choose a default, done! You don't even have to delete the third party dialer.
You can keep repeating that process over and over without the need of this app.

I can't find the option to clear default in the settings/application/third party dialer screen. Please see the screen shots. 2nd one for the defualt app manager. What am I missing here? Using MIUI.

I see. That's what happen when you use an iphone look a like rom lol. Kidding.
On sense roms or asop roms, it gives you the option. I don't use a third party dialer but dowladed it just to show you.
See screenie below. It gives you the option to clear default.

Settings > Display > Home Screen is unavailable??

When I first got my Tab S3, I adjust some of the settings on the home screen, such as the grid size and if the icons are shown with the frame behind them or not. (I chose no frame) I went back later to change the settings again and found that both the Home Screen and Icon Frames menu items are grayed out. (See screenshot)

Tapping on them highlights them, but otherwise does nothing.
I contacted Samsung and not only do they not have a solution, but they are not aware of anyone else having the same problem.
Can you access these settings on your tablet? If not, provide your tablet build number.

How to remove a Theme on Galaxy S9+

The OS is PIE and cannot remove or delete the Samsung Theme that I downloaded.
I have search Google and when I get to My Theme and select the one that I used, there is nothing on that page that I can select to Delete.
How can I do this or do I have to go to reset the phone?

The default theme, Galaxy Themes was just updated, gives the options to either Cancel or Set. No option to Delete. Please advise as to what to do next?
The custom theme was set for AOD and I turned AOD off. The Default theme along with two others show in the Galaxy Themes. Two are custom and the other is the Default. There is a check mark in the custom theme that I originally used. Now with three showing under My Themes, I no longer get any message.
I finally selected the Original Default and the custom theme was not showing. To prove that I seleted Night Mode and that worked on a System, pull down, but the main screen and other windows stayed at the default. How to fix so the main plus other windows are also black without using a Wallpaper?
Guess I will have to back to Sutratum, to get more coverage for a Black background in as many apps as possible.
Thanks for hearing me
You cannot delete the default theme. That is the master theme for the system.
You can delete any custom theme loaded. There are plenty of black themes you can install to get what you are looking for.

HELP - Still can't find the default theme
Hey all, I am having the exact same problem and I still can't figure out what "samsung theme" app you are talking about.
I go to The Galaxy Store, then I click on the 3 dots on the top right and click "My Page". There is no way to pull down the top as you were suggesting. So then I go to All, then I click themes and all I see is the one that I downloaded. There is no default Samsung theme anywhere. Please help me. I am so darn frustrated with this stupid phone!

Well I don't know what to say then. I wasn't able to "pull down" at the top of the theme store when my Nova was installed. Maybe there is a glitch in my version? Anyway, for whatever the reason, it works now and I couldn't be happier!
