how can i make chrome to download files to a spacific folder (on my sd card) - Xperia Z4 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

any one knows ?

you can not
something to read:
http://www.focus.de/wissen/videos/e...kennt-hier-den-fehler-und-sie_id_4966692.html
sdcard1 is formatted exFAT -> no links
Under Lollipop you can not access all of the sdcard.
root can help (e.g. make the whole sdcard rw) but not for your desire.
There might be DL-apps that can set their directory - probably this needs root too if working on external sdcard.

[Q] how to write on micro SD card?

Hey guys,
Sorry if this is a dum question but i cant figure out what the issue is. I have a 4gb micro sd card in my Vegan Gtablet. I can go into es explorer and see the sdcard 2. I have been able to create a folder in that sdcard 2. When i take it out the folder is gone so i know that is the place i need to be. Anyways When i try to move media files from sdcard to sdcard 2. It gives me a error and wont move it. What am i doing wrong or am i missing something?
Any help would be great. Thx.
have you tried using Root Explorer to make the folder r/w? I'd like to understand the difference between the sdcard and the sdcard2. I have my gtab (vegan) mounted currently to my pc, and i see sdcard as empty and sdcard2 with files, but when i had no card in, the sdcard had the contents and sdcard 2 was empty.... Anyone have insight on these folders?
sd card2 issues
I am also running vegan on my gtab. my computer can not see sdcard2 (external card) but I can transfer files to it via usb drive using adao file manager. when I shutdown my gtab the files dissapear. Is there a fix that will allow us to use the sdcard2? Any help is appreciated thanks in advance.
I went and used root explorer and gave me error that its a read only system. Im trying to move media files from my built in gtab memory to the micro SD card? How can this be done? Help !!!

There should be a button at the top of the file list to change from RO (Read only) to RW (Read Write) file systems.
When i went into Sdcard 2 no such option. When i went to Sdcard there was. When i went back and held down on SDcard 2 and went to permission that is where i got the error.
Did you format the micro sd card correctly? I had some problems and then formatted it on my PC to FAT32 (make sure you back up your files on the card beforehand to your PC) and all was ok. I can transfer files to it via es file explorer or Astro.
vcs11 - your computer won't show your micro sd (sdcard2), only the internal storage. Disappearing files on sdcard2 seems to be pretty common. For a solution search the forum for ".nomedia" file.

[Q] External SD nesting on JB

On stock, I could access the external sdcard from the external_sd folder that was located inside the sdcard folder (/sdcard/external_sd). This was nice, because some apps would only search the sdcard folder, but since the external_sd was located inside, they would find my files on my external SD.
After flashing JB paranoid android, this behavior is not present anymore. Is there any way to fix this?

[MOD][4.2] Galaxy Player 4.2 Mount External SD as Internal Storage

I worked on rewriting the vold.fstab for my Galaxy Player 4.2 when I got my 64 GB class 10 micro SD card a while back. When I installed the card I realized that I couldn't install apps on it and pieced together and tested my own version of the vold.fstab after looking at examples on the XDA forum. What this rewritten vold.fstab accomplishes is switch which storage device is mounted as the internal memory (which can have apps installed on it) and the SD card (cannot have apps installed on it). I thought I'd share my modification with whoever wanted to mount their micro SD cards as internal memory. Why would you want to do this? More storage for your applications!
Installation: (You will need a file explorer. I use Root File Explorer.)
-Rename the vold.fstab.txt downloaded from this post to vold.fstab
-Make a backup of your current vold.fstab located in etc/ (In case you want to switch back to the old one)
-Mount /etc as R/W and replace the current vold.fstab with the one you downloaded and renamed
-Give the new vold.fstab the permissions: rw-r--r-- (using your file explorer)
-Reboot
Notes:
-After reboot and whenever you start your SGP 4.2 from now on it will boot and begin with a media scan that usually takes around 15 seconds.
-The file directory for your micro SD will now be /sdcard and your internal memory's file directory will now be /sdcard/external_sd (they have been swapped with this modification)
Hope this helps! If anyone has any comments or has some modifications for this configuration file let me know.

I will try to integrate it in my next rom... or to Make an Update. Zip

[Q] LG Optimus L9 Won't Allow Access to Internal Memory Using File Manager

My carrier is MetroPCS. Since this phone only has 1.8GB of internal memory, I have a 16GB microSDHC card for external storage, but I can't move anything from sdcard0 to my external sd card in File Manager because nothing shows up on sdcard0. I want to move my pictures from sdcard0 to my external sd card, but nothing shows up under the "pictures" folder in sdcard0. I can't just make my storage option the SD card because when I do that, it's still saving on the internal memory, because apparently the phone thinks that sdcard0 is the SD card. So I need a way to change the storage option to my external card or a way to uncover these files that are hidden somehow.
I'm operating on Jellybean 4.1.2 and 3.0.31 kernel.
@pennyboard420 Welcome to XDA forums.
Your camera pictures are actually saved in the "DCIM/thumbnails" folder and not the "Pictures" (only my screen-shots are saved in the "Pictures" folder) folder and no this folder won't open with File Manager. You need a different file browser, like Root Browser that lets you see hidden files/folders. On some of them you will need root access to modify or change these files and folders.
You can't set and change your default storage location from sdcard0 to the external sdcard natively.
You would need to install an app like Link2sd or a swap script, again the device needs to be rooted.

I've tried your solution but wasn't able to get it rooted because some drivers that I needed couldn't be run on the Surface RT tablet that I have due to the tablet only allowing Microsoft developed software to run. However, I have found an alternate solution: Instead I connected my LG L9 to the tablet, opened up the DCIM/Thumbnails folder and manually copied all my pictures into the DCIM/100LGDSC folder of my external SD card.
Chances are you probably already know about this, but just putting it out there.
Thanks again.

Retain file permissions when copying to SD Card

Hi guys,
I'm trying to backup files to my SD Card from an app located in the data/data folder.
I'm using ES File Explorer to copy the files, however after viewing the properties of the copied files I've noticed the following.
Owner: 00000 - root*
Group: 01028 - sdcard_r
Whereas the original file displayed owner & group as the app accessing the file.
Any help on creating copies of files with the original permissions/owner/group maintained would be much appreciated.
Phone:*
Rooted Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus GT-S7500*
16 GB SD Card Fat32 (windows formatted)*
Cyanogenmod 11*
Android 4.4 KitKat
Would this have anything to do with the filesystem used?
As the SD Card is Fuse/Fat32 whereas internal is ext4.
At this point i've decided to store the backed up files as zips, which is retaining file permissions when extracted directly to internal memory. But not so when extracted to the SD Card.
Fuse mounts, fat32 and ntfs don't support ext style permissions.
Normally I tar the files to help retain that info.

Thanks, so i would have to convert the external SD Card to ext4 to retain permissions for uncompressed copies then.
I would not recommend that as you would have to modify your boot images fstab and then windows would never be able to mount it. Instead you could shrink your sdcard partition then add a new ext one, after that you could either use a mount script or app to mount it. Also if you want to preserve permissions add the -p flag to cp
