Sony M4 Aqua E2353 can i unlock? - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Is there anyway to unlock my device or root it? it says bootloader unlock allowed: no. is there really no way?
or atleast a way so I can install my apps on my SD card instead on the internal? thanks

Try disabling myxperia and reboot

Thanks! it worked. it now says "yes" I have another question... where can I get the unlock code for E2353? it's not on the sony website

You have to choose the code of M/M Dual.
If you have dual sim variant choose M Dual, if single sim use M

hmmm okay i bricked my phone but i fixed it. but im still not sure how to flash the recovery.img. what do i click in the flash tool?
this is the image postimg.org/image/cptywg4v3/

You cannot flash recovery with flashtool, you need to flash it with adb tools, see the discussion about root.

Thanks for the reply guys! phone rooted! Now last question. the reason why I rooted how can i set it up so it will download directly to my sd card?

Yap. U can use download manager and set it directly into sd card or u can use folder mount and mount downloads folder

Hey,
How did you root it and how did you flash recovery with ADB?
I'm stuck and cannot get anything to work. it is bootloader unlocked

How did you disabled "my Xperia"

How did you disabled the "my xperia"? If I go to settings - apps - all then choose my Xperia, the DISABLE button is grayed out even after un-checking my Xperia in settings - security - Device administrators.

Anybody knows how to change the status of bootloader unlock allowed from "no" to "yes"??
I tried disabling myXperia protect and it doesn't change.
P.D. : When i bought that phone the option was in "yes", but i update de android version to the 26.1.A.2.167 and now the option is "no"
Sorry for my bad English ( My mobile version is E2303)
Thanks

CWM - Based Recovery Xperia s - The easy way

Hi all, i recently scoured these forums searching for the most simple way to achieve recovery on the Xperia S. Of course to no avail to a newbie like myself. My device is rooted and with ICS, with an unlocked bootloader. I initially tried to achieve CWM by using the application on the market (Prior to obtaining root but with unlocked bootloader & ICS). I recently tried to achieve CWM using the CWM - Xperia on the market and success it worked! Simply click the "Reboot into recovery mode" within the application and it will install CWM into the system partition so you can use recovery! I am unsure whether this has been posted recently but i avoided posting it elsewhere due to restrictions and the like, i hope this hasn't been discovered yet and im not just being ignorant to the forum i literally could not find any news of this elsewhere!
If needs be, i will make a guide on how to achieve this including the rooting and flashing steps i took.

Here you go...
Download the attachment!
Unzip using WinRar
Connect your phone in normal mode
Go to the folder you extracted earlyer
Double click on "Install.bat"
Restart your phone
While turning on,at the Sony Boot Logo simply tap a few times the screen!
Now you should have CWM Recovery on your phone!
Simple as that
Hope helps you...
CWM 5 supports the touch screen buttons on the bottom of the phone also. its very easy to use!
Beats audio installed via this method.
On what firmware is that available? This is just a one click method after achieving root.

CWM is some kind like the Bios from your pc...except does not have the same functions
it`s a recovery, where you can backup your rom and restore if something goes wrong with your phone!
with it you can install some custom ROM`s
you can clear cache...dalvik cache....and a lot more to do!
but really the mos usefull function of it is the backup-restore and the flash of different modules rom`s and kernels!
it`s better to have cwn just in case

install Sony PC Comanion first
second check the usb debugging box from {}developer options
then just plug your phone into the usb
after that double click on install.bat
i am on unlocked bootloader
i don`t know if it works with locked bootloader
it should work
another way to install CWM is to flash a kernel wich already have CWM on it!
to do that you must install fastboot driver an connect your phone in fastboot mode to your pc(with the phone shut off pres and keep volume up key and plug into USB untill the blue led is on)
than go to the extracted folder(in the attachment) and pres and hold shift key + right click
select from menu open command window here
in the cmd window type " fastboot flash boot kernel.elf" without the comma`s
it will install the Xperia SSpedd OC @ 1,67 MHZ and you will get CWM olso on your device!
After installing that to enter CWM pres volume up when booting the phone while the blue led and light stripe is on!
this is olso for unlocked bootloader,i don`t know if it works for locked bootloader since my phone is with unlocked bootloader from the day 1!
Again simply installing this APK from the market seems to be less daunting.

Ares,
I think the op was talking about this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler which was the purpose of his post. The easiest way for new people to install CWM is with this apk from the market.
Correct me if I'm wrong OP.

Also, after trying one more time, when I press the confirm button (step 5 of the tutorial) it says that an error ocorred (it says something about memory and to try again),

For this you will need Flashtool and Xperia drivers intalled on your PC. (Installing Sony PC companion will do)
Well, what you need to do is download the kernel of previous version. I have attached a file but I am not sure if its the old version. (.10)
Flash FTF of your desired STOCK rom ICS via Flashtool.
Flash kernel of any version before 6.1.1.b.1.54 .
Root it using the file attached.
And you are done!
Make sure the USB tethering is ON in Settings >development !
I have attached the files on page 11 on this post:

NO, but don't worry.
Is your bootloader unlocked?
if not, this must be the reason.
if ýou have unlocked bootloader then,
Flash kernel again and root it using .10.
I am thinking you must have disconnected the phone in the middle.
Were you on administration when you tried to flash it ?
You must give administration rights to run the programme.
Were the drivers properly installed ?
A screen came and said to restore and then you didnot disconnect your phone till the programme asked you to ?
Have you followed instructions properly ?
IF all this doesnot work, Flash FTF of ICS of any ICS you like . Root it again !
I have rooted my phone so many times with the file i sent !
And you are using the option 1 when it asks you to root. You are rooting a mobile and not a tablet.
If anything you need to ask, I be writing you back!

As I suspected, your phone has come with locked bootloader. This means that Sony will not support your phone to be unlocked. The reason simply is they do not want to give out cheap phones so you can use any other sim on your phone. However, you can only run roms which support locked bootloader and you can not experiment much with your phone as it will brick your device. There are quite few roms which support locked bootloader. Further, the tutorial is simply from Sony and thus will not work for your phone!

OK, one last thing, I found this rom (it says that works with locked bootloader): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=194647
But in the instructions it says to flash it via CWM (I know that it's a custom recovery), I searched and the tutorials I found either ask for root or unlocked bootloader.
The text file attached in OP doesn't help much as I am not able to know which FW are you using.
I assume that the FW is greater than B.1.10 which Is why u are facing problems while rooting as the FW used in the guide in OP is B.1.10.
FYI, B.1.10 was directly rootable without much hassle just by following the guide but if you have a C.1.0 / B.1.89 / B.1.100 Stock Rom on your device then you will have to do some extra steps

On my phone it says, Build Number: 6.1.1.B.1.54
Here's the Rooting Process for you.
This Rooting guide applies to all FW versions above B.1.10.
1) Open Flashtool.
2) Click the Flash icon.
3) Select Flash Mode. (Make sure USB Debugging is ON in your Mobile Settings before connecting to PC)
4) Select & Flash the B.1.10 kernel. Then Reboot.
5) Select the Un-Lock icon and choose your preferred SU app & proceed.
6) Follow the on-screen instructions.
7) Now you have rooted your device.

You don't need to unlock your bootloader in case of flashing stock kernels.
Unlocking bootloader is necessary to flash custom built kernels.

Just flash this image to get root access
download the attached zip and unzip it to get the boot.img ,it is named as "root-4.2.img"
follow the following steps: (im not responsible if you mess up)
1. enable usb debugging from the developer settings and then connect it to the computer
2. open command prompt an enter the following command :-
" adb reboot bootloader "
3. now your tablet should go into fastboot mode
4. now enter the following command
" fastboot flash boot root-4.2.img "
5. once done flashing and sending the image to the device, nter the following command to reboot it safely :-
" fastboot reboot "
6. now your tablet should be booted up, download root checker app from the playstore to make sure u have root access
7. All Done

That won't work unless he has a unlocked bootloader, which I assume he doesn't. So he either unlocks the bootloader (which might end creating problems, as he might forget to backup TA partition)) or uses the straightforward VRoot

To download the tool, click on the big blue rectangular button located underneath the large white word ROOT.
gowan how do i know if it is locked bootloader?
I found some info on google about ta partition backup that it contains drm keys for prop soft etc.,
So may be this is the first step I shd do if it is locked bootloader.
Now it is restoring ta will get you to point in unlocked state.
Questions becomes will it be possible to restore TA partition and stay in unlocked mode?
Also help is for xperia phone z. Not sure it is same as xperia z tablet.
Thanks,
My Odd Xperia Z C6606
I have this same issue, Except my firmware is slightly newer, 10.3.1.E.0.191, I don't think I can make a new pfn address without root or boot loader access. I'm stuck
I don't get why everyone is having such an issue with rooting this firmware. Grab an ftf of an old ie. Rootable firmware for your tab flash with flash tool, root it,put a custom recovery on, and then grab the files and follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48904390 there you go no need to void warranty or lose drm keys

Yes. You just have to look at the SGP3xx thing. It must be the same as yours.

No. The bootloader doesn't unlock just because you updated your device. And no, there is no way to unlock the bootloader without voiding your warranty. And, remember, always backup your TA keys before unlocking the bootloader.

I have the same problem. Honestly I think that is due to the unlocked bootloader, not the root.
Did you unlock the bootloader before rooting the device?
Sorry for my English too

No. What I said was that the feature, for me, didn't work very well since the beginning. But you can use, for example, Flashtool, flash the stock software and try to use the feature again.
