CyanogenMod 12 [UNOFFICIAL] [UBER] for i777 + Call Bugfix + Goodies - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Anything you could ever ask for to update your i777 in one place. Download link below...
ROM: cm-12.1-20151213-UNOFFICIAL-i777.zip
Features
Compiled with UBER toolchain (supposedly faster than standard toolchain)
Outgoing call bug fixed (hacked, whatever, it's not there anymore)
TRIM support (thanks to Lanchon)
Otherwise unchanged
CM is awesome.
GAPPS: tk_gapps-modular-pico-5.1.1-20150913-signed.zip
Features
Works.
MODEM: I777UCMD8_modem.zip
Features
Nobody knows, but it's the latest version that I'm aware of.
RECOVERY: SGH-S959G_TWRP_v2.7.1.0.zip
WARNING
This is for the S959G (which I think is identical in every way to the i777). It works on the S959G but I have not tested it on an i777.
XPOSED
So good. Works fine.
You need to install the .zip in recovery, and the .apk normally.
Uninstall .zip included.
Download
Installation instructions can be found on CM's website.
* If upgrading from CM12.1, wipe /data/dalvik-cache first (you probably don't even need to wipe /cache).
* If upgrading from any other ROM, you need to factory reset first (ie. wipe /cache and /data).
Good luck!

1. ROM
2. Kernel & GAPPS & Xposed -> All optional, order doesn't matter.
Modem can be flashed at any time and does not overlap with any of the above flashes.
Probably clean flash for most purposes unless you're coming from prior version of CM12.1

Couldn't get the phone to detect my sim card / get data connection. Tried flashing modem file, but verification failed with the new CM recovery . Any solutions?

What device? I777? Also clean or dirty flash? I'll try to work on the modem issue sometime next week.

Clean install. Coming from cyanide Lollipop. Had TWRP when I flashed the kernel. I tried both flashing kernel first followed by the ROM as well as ROM followed by kernel. Both had the same issue.

I built a fully updated version (20151104) last night (see first post for download link). You no longer need to install Lanchon's kernel (TRIM support is built in).
I am installing this ROM on my own device (S959G) right now and testing it out.
Instructions:
1) Optional, if you want to try to flash the modem: install the version of TWRP you had initially, and try to flash the modem through that.
2) Install ROM.
3) Install GAPPS
4) Install XPOSED (if you want - make sure to re-download as the version is updated from v74 to v75).

OK. its been a while since i flashed a lollipop rom. so here i go. im currently running shostock3 v4.0 on my i777. if i flash a kitkat compatible recovery
( CWM-KitKatCompatible-i777.zip), i can flash this rom right? i'd do a full wipe, data, cache, system then flash rom>gapps>xposed....i should be good? right?

That's right. Not 100% sure about the recovery (I've never used that one), but I think you would be in good shape. Make a backup onto your computer first so that you have a contingency plan in case you soft brick.
If you're flashing on the i777, then I believe this ROM will replace your recovery with the stock CM12 recovery (just FYI - should be inconsequential).

Yeah I installed an older version of xposed (v74) in the past and it caused a bootloop. Using v75 with this nightly has been pretty stable for me.

New build uploaded (working fine on my S959G).

I'm stuck on the CM logo. Worse, I thought this came with TWRP. It comes with the CM recovery. I made a back up with TWRP and moved it to my computer prior to flashing. The CM recovery is worthless. Not sure where to start getting back to my old Rom (Omni 4.4.4).
Edit: Good to go and back on 4.4.4. I was hoping to move forward with this version. Not sure what happened. I used Odin to install the Siyah kernel with CWM and then was able to flash a Kernel with twrp to restore my back up.
I'm wondering if I had flashed a Kernel with TWRP at the beginning if it would have made a difference. I may try that now since I'll be looking at the triangle screen from now on anyway.
I do recommend that it be clear in the OP that the stock Kernel contains CM recovery and not TWRP.

The bootloop is weird - did you inadvertently install an old version of Xposed (happened to me once)? Wipe data/cache/system and reflash - should do the trick.
I'll try to build a TWRP'ed version, shouldn't be too hard...

New S3 International - Error 7 while trying to flash first Cyanogen Rom

Heres what I have done so far
- Rooted Phone
- Flashed TWRP 2.3.3.0
- Downloaded latest nightly rom
- Factory Reset
- Install rom
It starts the install and then flashes up an error 7. I then have to do a restore to get the phone usable again. Did not see this error in forum and wondered if anyone knew anything about it?
Thanks in advance.

If you update your TWRP install to the latest version, (2.6.3.1), you'll be able to flash CM11 with no problems.
My issues are now resolved. I thought I would post for anyone else who finds themselves in this situation.
I used the Samsung Galaxy GS3 Toolkit to root my phone. The issue with this was that both options for recovery were out of date!
I flashed the latest clockwork mod and worked perfectly.
Thanks everyone that posted for your assistance!

[Q] do i need to flash an older rom before flashing to kitkat

Hi, i'm new in these things so have a few questions.
Iwould like to flah thecyanogenmod but my galax 2s syas it is not a gt-I9100.
So i read some things about removing the assert line from a script and so on.
Do i need to flah an older rom before the cm11 nightly?
Do i need to flash the kernel first? or just use the latest cwm? (or rom manager/clockword?)
Can i reflash the S2 with an cyanogenmod kitkat version after i flashed it with an other kitkat rom for this device?
(still i did not succed to flash any rom to it)
thanks for any help !

First of all check if it g version or not.
To best of my understanding you can install it directly as far as you are rooted.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
You don't need to flash an older version before KK. You just need KK compatible recovery. Or you can flash a KK compatible kernel, reboot to recovery and flash your KK rom.
Hello, thank you both for your replies.
Finally some clear answers
The model says GT-I9100 and not with g behind it, thanks.
I found some things about the status 7 error and about removing some line in a script in the zip.
So i will try the kitkat recovery (in my understanding this is also the kernel?) and then flash it with kitkat rom.
I would like to flash the one from cyangenmod, but doe it really mather which custom kitkat rom i take? At least they are all without the providers code like Vodafone or others?
Thanks again. I will update the thread if it succeeds or not.
Hi,
so i could not install the latest Recovery_CWM_6.0.4.7_I9100.zip as it gave an error E: signature verification failed.
then i tried recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.1.5-galaxys2.zip and this works. But with this i can't install CM11. as i get the status 7 error.
So i will try some other versions kitkat compatible.
I also took a look at the kernels section but it is not clear wich one to use for CWM6 as i don't know what XXLSR or DDLS3 means, and which is correct for Netherlands.
Do you have any idea? (i am not allowed to post there yet)
Thanks for your help.
For choice of kernel -
1. Gustavo's - I don't remember the version. Check the op.
2. Dorimanx - you can try 10.43v100.
3. Apollo - 7.0b Cm
They will bring the KK compatible recovery you want on your phone. Then after rebooting to recovery you can flash any custom rom as they are not locked by any carriers.

If you are able to go back to download mode
1. Flash a stock rom via odin
2. Flash a custom kernel via Odin. You might find some in the link you put there or you can search for hirox kernel. Remember, you have to download Odin flash able kernel and follow the op.
3. Once you have custom kernel, reboot to recovery. Flash any of the kernels in clockworkmod mentioned in my previous post.
4. Reboot to recovery. Flash your rom.
If you are unable to go to download mode try all the methods mentioned in the below link to bring it back to normal. It will need patience and perseverance. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/guide-t2345831
Thank you for your patience and your help Banjara.
This forum and it's people are 100 times better the on Gyanomed were totally no support is given...
I will try it and come back, at least the phone able to start in the download mode.
Probably the usb connector has some loose contacts as i can get no contact with pc.
I got this phone from my brother and he told me that it never worked, just loading the battery
So i tried an other cable from an cheap android pad, but also no luck
maybe tommorow, i have another cable from an android stick pc at my job, maybe it will work
else i have to open it to check the connector under a microscope and probably resolder(hotair) it with a lot of flux... what a pitty... :crying:
lucky i have some experience on it, i repaired a lot of qtek phone, some years ago, always that connector broken.
I'm originally an tv(crt, lcd, plasma) repair technician, but now on an other job
Pfew, i managed to rsolder the connector with help of the microscope on my job.
I could even connect to odin. so that's is good progression. i had a wrong kernel downloaded, so it failed.
now i have the correct one and will use Siyah-s2-v6.0b5.tar
But unfortunately the battery is really emptying quickly when it stays in the phone, i don't know why.
So i will have to charge it an then give it another try with this kernel.
The ROM should still be original as i did not flash it before, just the kernel.
The phone is now saying battery empty, can't download.
To be continued...
Jippieeee!
GREAT !!!!
It worked! flashed the kernel Siyah-s2-6.0b5 and it started ! :victory:
Now what is the best way to proceed, there are so many topics on this it is overwhelming.
Should i first flash a Kernel or first a rom?
Can i flash them right after each other? (kernel reboots) so ROM and directly Kernel in one go?
thanks for your help!
{SOLVED}
Ok this is solved, thank you guys and dolls !
i managed to flash the cwm 6++++ and then the OMNI kitkat (latest) and the gAPPs
and it is working ! i am verry happy !:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
:thumbup::beer::beer:
one more thing
i noticed there is also another kernel now in the phone.
How to get rid of the yellow exclamation mark?
i saw some footage on youtube how to do it with the correct kernel.
But can i also extract the kernel from the ROM.tar i used and flash it with Odin?
Or is there another way?
thanks for your help. ---> edit

Now using the OmniKK nightly of 8th of june, it runs very smooth, no issues till now, all is working well. :good:
btw idk what is the exact rom your willing to use but for no triangle would also do an clean install of stock rom, then root with framroot that you can find here on site and then flash KK compatible recovery and ofc kk rom with it. Where is CWM 6.0.4.4?

I'm trying to install carbonrom on my I777, but the guide tells me to install CWM 6.0.4.4. I cannot find the zip for this recovery anywhere on this forum (at least for this phone). And yes, I have searched. I can only find this CWM for other phones, but not the i777.

Pretty sure you can use Brett's Shift Kernel (CWM Version) for what you want.
The OP mentions that you need to use a specific recovery, but the fact that the recovery for the i777 is a part of the kernel is not as explicitly mentioned.
Desteele has directed you a kernel that includes an appropriate recovery to install any android 4.4.x firmware.

Is it possible to get your advice on my next step cyril279? I came from Aocp with CWM-based Recovery v6.0.5.0. Started at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2-att/development/rom-carbonrom-sgh-i777-sgh-959g-t2845008 but could not find the CWM - 6.0.4.4+ he spoke, of only links for the SGH-S959G so I flashed from Sd card using CWM-based Recovery v6.0.5.0 It was stuck at load screen but i rebooted and finally got the Rom had 1 or 2 random reboots but seems fine now. But i think i did it wrong and want to clean things up a bit, after hours of reading seems this might be best way. I followed desteele link here is what im going to flash.
Your content is okay, but the order should be changed. The goal is to do all of your cleaning BEFORE you flash any firmware.
kernel cleaner
rom wipe
carbon
shift kernel
GApps

What exactly does "Kernel Cleaner" do? If I'm going to do a clean install, I usually use Cook's ROM wipe, but that's it...
My understanding is that the kernel cleaner is used specifically when you want to retain your current firmware installation, and create a clean-slate for kernel installation.
I don't think that it is helpful at all when used WITH the Rom Wipe, which itself formats all of the partitions that store any kernel stuff.

Noted, Done! Perfection! Zero FCs, Zero random reboots, and Zero Gapps issues! I usually have something go wrong on every Rom, but this was a success. Apparently I had garbage left over that could not be wiped from my recovery menu until I used http://d-h.st/szN

[GUIDE]/[Q] Stock i9100 to CM11 M11

Hi All,
I recently updated my stock i9100 to CM11 M11 and I want to check if I have done all the steps correctly or if I have missed any steps out.
I first copied these four files onto a micro sd card:
PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSW-XEU-5.06.1-signed.zip
If you are following these instructions then use the correct PhilZ kernel for your stock kernel version. This is explained in the linked post.
ClockWorkMod Recovery v6.0.5.1 - Recovery_CWM_6.0.4.7_I9100.zip
Cyanogen Mod 11 M11 - cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-i9100.zip
Google Apps (Small) - gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip
Then I:
Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power)
Install PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSW-XEU-5.06.1-signed.zip
Reboot into Philz recovery
Do a full Backup including the Preload folder by using the Custom Backup feature
Install ClockWorkMod Recovery v6.0.5.1
Reboot into CWM
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced>Wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and Storage>Format /system, Format /cache, Format /storage/sdcard0, Format /boot
Install cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-i9100.zip
Install gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip
Reboot and all done.
Optional Step: Flash a newer modem,
Download XXMS4 modem - modem_XXMS4.zip
Copy above zip file to SD Card
Boot into CWM Recovery and flash the modem zip file
Reboot
I found that the above newer modem slightly improved call quality and mobile download speed.
Note: Do not change RIL.
Have I done everything correctly? Have I missed anything?
I do have two issues,
When I tried - Mounts and Storage>Format /preload - it didn't work. I can't remember what the error was but it woudn't format the preload in CWMR
Memory only shows up as 791MB in About Phone.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!
You did well. More than enough.
No need to format partitions, so just ignore the error.
Memory reported is usable memory. It is ok.
Have fun with the new rom.

Thank you for the reply svbarbosa.
I had been putting off installing a custom rom and living with my laggy stock because I thought it would be tricky to install CM11, turned out it was quite simple one I figured out the correct instructions.
I'd advise anyone it give it a try!
When you have time give AOSP NeatRom a try. Is is based on Slim Rom and is the one I use.
Here is the link: [ROM][Sep 25][4.4.4] I9100 AOSP NeatROM.
Happy flashing...
Is it easier (and just as good) to use CyanogenMod Installer to install CM on the i9100?
I made a question yesterday, and would appreciate it if someone could help me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...import-sms-t2903491/post55985155#post55985155
Thank you guys.
@oldgalaxy hey, just got that i9100 device from my friend with all stock and laggy... ?
Your question was already an answer for me. I always prefer oldschool ways though they are harder. Followed your steps and... voila... Now I'm fast and stable. ??
But I was kinda curious whether it is really easier to install CM with their installer app. ?
Thanks man...

Thank you @LeroViten, I'm glad that those steps also worked for you. Also now that you have confirmed that it worked for you I am also happy that I have done things correctly, so thank you for that!
Not too sure about the CM installer, but I didn't use it because I wanted to be sure of all the steps I am doing because of the i9100 kernel bug that can hard brick the phone.

Hi,
I also just got a laggy SGS2 from a friend of mine.
And I want to reset/flash the phone in order to give it to my mother, which ROM do recommend CM11 or any other ROM (MIUI ?) ?
I would prefer to have something stable.
For CM, I saw that the last stable img was for CM10.
Thanks in advance.

I've been using CM11 M11 for the last 3 days and have found it completely stable with a slight improvement in battery life over stock.

I don't have experience of any other ROM, but I'd definitely recommend CM11 M11.

Thanks for the message @ghosty81d! Glad it worked well for you.
An additional optional step I recently did was to flash a newer modem (don't change the RIL).
I found this slightly improved call quality and mobile download speeds. The modem I flashed was XXMS4.
i have good signal and pretty ok call quality, however, it heats up moderately when using the internet..near the camera, i think i had this problem on stock rom also..signal is good full bars outside. but i wud give the modem a try n I'm completely noob on this topic..what is RIL and how do i flash this? can i flash using cwm? also can i back up my current modem? and changing modem cause any damage to phone? ty oldgalaxy, this m11 rom is good, no need pc, no need root to install it, perfectly fine procedure
WiFi always on on battery status
I'm new here and also decided to leave stock ROM how ever my battery is draining in 4 hours.... And I checkd battery status and WiFi is shwoing activity all the time but is of.... Can anyone help me?
Also if I turn the phone off and don't use the WiFi it doesn't show activity on battery status
Sorry for my english
Thanks
I am ready to install...
I downloaded all the required things to try your steps. I will try it tomorrow.
I just want to know if I need to upgrade the modem or leave it as it is? Kindly confirm.
Thanks,
Sadiq

Not enough details.
It's probably the version of recovery you're using.
Which version of TWRP and what errors are you receiving?

Im using twrp 3.0.2.1 and everytime i try to install a rom it stuck at samsung screen.
And it show md5 not found.
What roms have you tried? What firmware were you on before you started flashing? Sometimes newer roms need the newest firmware like the bootloader and modem to run correctly. Are you wiping system, data, and both caches? If you are going from a Touchwiz rom to, say, a CM based, it might also be necessary to wipe the internal storage. Of course you should back all that up to a PC first, if you do that.

N9005xxugboa1
Lrx21v.n9005xxugbob6
I have my stock rom n internl backed up. I try all. And still it always stuck on samsung screen.
Are you installing the kernel after the rom flash? A lot of newer Samsung roms don't have the kernel built in like CM roms.

How can install kernel after. Everytime i install it reboots its self to samsung screen. Or should go back to recovery and install the kernel back. And thank you for your help till now.
That's definitely why it's not booting, if you didn't do the kernel. If the rom has the Aroma installer, typically the last question asks if you want to reboot now and has a check mark in by default. Just uncheck and it'll go back to recovery. But you can also just go back and flash now and should be good.

Remove the battery for 10 seconds. Put it back in and reboot to download mode. Uncheck auto reboot. Flash then check auto reboot and flash again. Should stick.

Hi
I tried as said and it didnt chnge.
Can i ask bootloader should be at bl and modem should be at cp. Is it correct.
Hi
Thank you for your help.
I did the change on bootloader and modem.
Now im i need to know two more thing.
I download 2 dffernt kind of bootloader n modem.
I flash blxxxxxbpb1 and cpxxxxxboj1..this 2 files were tar.md5 files
Another one which i didnt flash. Blxxxxxxbpb1 and cpxxxxxxxbpb2..this 2 files are tar.tar files..
Can i know whats the different with this 2 files.
One more thing is when i chnge the bootloader and modem will the kernel changes. Or is it different.
Please guide me..im confuse.
Someone might have just mislabeled them. Flashing those will not affect kernel. Different partition of the phone.
Hi
I did change the bootloader n modem.
And even change the kernel as told in the forum. It was note5 port kernel.7.1.0..
After trying to install the darkwolf rom.it was still the same..it did not work.
Please help me

This is the recommended kernel
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572369242687310
Recommended recovery is TWRP 2.8.7.0 not the newer 3.0+
Flash other recovery. Boot to TWRP. Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik. Flash rom. Wipe caches. Flash kernel. Reboot. Should work according to lots of people on the thread for that rom.
Hi.
How flash kernel.
just flash the tar.md5 file or the tar.zip file
