I ordered my Graphite 64GB 6P, whoever gets it first and is ready to get testing when source drops should likely be in this thread

My ETA is 11/5 so I don't think I'm going to get it first but I hope I do...... #graphitebros

#graphitebros for life! This phone looks better and better every minute. Supposedly the camera is beastly on it, only topped by the S6 Edge. Battery should be great too, which alleviates two of the biggest Nexus pain points. October 30th, get here now!

That sensor hub processor sounds super interesting, I want to see what we can do with the cpuidle drivers too and if we have GTS for task migration or if this is something we have to look at afterwards.

Out of curiosity, how are you telling how well Doze is working? I'm running Dev Preview 3 on my N6 and it's been awesome. I'm not a heavy phone user, it mainly sits on my desk at work (and at home for that matter) and the battery life has been great, drains very slowy while I'm not touching it. exponentially better than my S6. which isn't saying much

Yeesssssssss!!!

Anybody else "magically" get an invite after buying the 6P? Might be connected. Also, yes the 6P will have an always-listening mode like the Moto X. Gesture recognition sounds exciting too, native DT2W anybody?

My phone doesn't sleep but then again I usually don't sit in one place for more than an hour as a college student. I haven't seen any change in my battery life from lollipop doing the same thing with the same apps. I still get random drain from apps like speed test constantly pinging my location for no reason despite not having it for days.

what is the point anyway of comparing a new generation phone with an old generation one? the comparer himself suspects the new gen is not that advanced and is trying to assure himself this new gen is worth the hype?

Exactly! People who compares these two phones - Android fans or Samy fans and show to all Apple fans how the GS2 blows away Iphone 4 even don't realize that comparison like this is a really big compliment for Iphone 4. Every an year old phone would be proud to be compared to the most powerful phone released a few days ago.
To be fair, I've just moved from an IP4 to a GS2, and the iPhone was an excellent device.
Just too many limitations on it.
Granted, android "just works", but iOS, for most people is pretty good. iTunes is a bag of ****, and I fully hate it, but the iPhone is more than just a fanboy toy.
Not getting rid of my GS2 anytime soon though, love it!!

O2? they are pretty slow to respond, which I'm sure is one of the rocks characteristics?
What is it with this ridiculous "fanboism"?
What is the point in comparing this year phone with last year phone?
What is the point to complain on iPhone, that it doesn't have this or that...
I will never understand it...
Ugh, I really hate these fanboy apple vs android wars. Like style34 said, this comparison is a big compliment for the iPhone 4 (and I think it deserves it).
I'm looking forward to the iPhone 5 and I'm really wondering how the SGS2 would hold up against that one.
I've never had an iPhone myself as I've always preferred an Android device. However, I've never denied that Apple makes good products.
Same here though. I hate flame wars, no reason to convince fanboys. That's why I rarely go to Engadget anymore.
Granted, some pics I find pretty funny either way.

Yes, comparing the SG2 to the iPhone 4 in every thread is the worst possible comparison.
The phones a year old, it should be compared to the iPhone 5.
Although I am still certain the SG2 will be a much better phone anyway, its meant to be SGS2 v iPhone 5.

IPhone 5 Vs Samsung GS III?

Two phones that have a solid user base tingling around it.
1) Samsung Galaxy S III
2) Iphone 5
Who do you think will win the race based on your expectations with both the brands ? Give reasons if possible.
GS3
-Because it is android.
I agree but don't you think the holographic features are just too awesome?
"Ever wondered why??"
I see some stupid posts going around, but this is up there with the most stupid of them. Neither of these phones exist, we know nothing about them, and this is the Android subsection.
I guess that is why I asked about the personal opinion of people who have experience with both Samsung and iPhone phones... and what the people expect from both the brands...

iPhone has far better build quality then any android phone. If you want your phone to actually get timely updates then you have to get a Nexus S or Galaxy Nexus, which really restricts your "choice" to 2 phones. Meanwhile a 3yr old iPhone 3GS gets iOS 5 day 1 and still runs smoother than most android phones with 5x better hardware.

My SGS2 get updates continously, no problem there.
Of course new major releases like ICS takes 3-4 months from google/nexus release to release for other phones but that is simply part of the business model. And it is in fact mainly positive, because it gives plenty of time for developers to adapt apps for the new major version before average Joe gets the update.
Why would it be better if Google delayed Nexus ICS just to give Samsung/HTC etc time to adapt it to their phones?
Nexus and sgs2 have a good history of successful updates of Android series...

Hmmm, honestly I don't know what to expect.
What are they anyway, I should have said "what will they be anyway"
For my own expectation? Oh, sure, very high
Quad-core 2.0GHz processor? 4GB RAM? 32G space? 5G ready? 1080 native resolution? unsigned bootloader? ability of flashing any custom ROM?
Is it too much to expect?

Apples to oranges. Do you want a touchscreen jitterbug device or an Android based smartphone? That's what it comes down to at the end of the day. How about you go to the store, play with both, and come back and tell us what you chose and why.

Meaningless comparison/data. Actually using both and buying based on one's particular usage is the only comparison that matters.
Totally different devices and experiences. I don't think anyone should try to compare the two. First choose Android or iOS then decide from there. That said ...
http://www.stuff.tv/apple/apple-iphone-5s-vs-lg-g2/feature
you coudl get a good phone, like the G2
or you could get the iphone, aka baby's first smartphone
I don't know about posting in a G2 forum because the majority of people here are going to say G2.
That being said I have an iPad for Apple stuff and my G2 for everything else. Even though people are a little apprehensive about the LG UI it does grow on you (I was a big Nova launcher user). It really depends on how you use your phone.

Ya got a lotta moxie posting that here, kid!
But seriously, I entertained the iPhone 5S as well. I don't want a smaller screen, though. And while I'm not addicted to flashing and modding my phone, I would like to have that option. If LG lags with updates, I can just grab a ROM from the community here.
Go get the 4s update to ios7 and save $200 its the same thing. People got to understand its not hard to make a phone benchmark high, its also easy to make an iturd look fast because it does absolutely nothing, all it has to do is render a few small icons on a little dippy ass 4 inch 720p 5 year old retina display! Take an ijunk and put half of the features this phone or the s4 has and it will hardly run!
If you have to ask this question you should probably buy an iphone and be done with it. The advantages of android will probably be lost on you.
Anyone asking that question here should buy an iPhone. Enjoy your purchase

Hi all
I'm sorry xerox but after hard playing on asphalt 8, i get this result.
And your result is take when the CPU is tested with a stress test, not in real utilisation.
So keep the alpha
Its up to you. I've had all the Sony line up (ive had pretty much all Android flagships except the Alpha, which I just bought last week). The Sony will heat up and after use for 4-6 months beit from charging overnight or playing games and the back will become loose meaning it is not waterproof. the phone will still work though so that's up to you. I just did not like the loose back which Sony have only fixed on the Z5. Another thing is if you do wear skinny jeans the phone does start to creak after a while after being under stress from you moving around.
I love my little Alpha and build quality is brill. Both phones are really snappy but I prefer developing stuff for Samsungs with Exy chips.
This is all from experience and not someone who hasn't tried the phone. I do like the Sonys though and have development quite a few ROMs for them

Hello thx for the opinion. I need to ask in terms of performance , camera, and th and build quality screen etc you still preffer Alpha?
The display on the alpha is an amoled type which is good for viewing under sunlight and in normal place i think it produced unreal color(I always switch to basic mode) but the Z3 has an Ips display which is not really good under sunlight but in normal place i think the color is pretty decent(Prefer the z3).The performance of the snapdragon 801 is better than the exynos on the alpha(prefer the z3).The camera on both is pretty decent and can capture 4k video(prefer the z3).Both have a 32gb internal memory but the z3 has an expandable memory card(prefer the alpha 32gb is enough for me).The alpha use touchwiz which has full of bloatware and it use alot of ram,the z3 use sony UI which has very little bloatware and lighter than touchwiz (prefer CyanogenMod). Dev support for the alpha is suck because it use exynos processor (no driver plus not alot of dev use the alpha) and the z3 has tons of roms to flash beside there are alot of dev keep developing a rom for that device .Both probably get an official android marshmallow update from their manufacturer. For the design I prefer the Alpha design(Cus I've use the Z1 compact before and the design on the z3 is pretty much the same). The Alpha has fingerprint sensor the Z3 doesnt, the z3 is waterproof the alpha doesnt.Decided by your self

Hi
For me the Alpha is in the best 2014 phones.
Good photos,
VERY VERY GOOD performance with his octo core Exynos 5430 processor ( For me Exynos 5430 is besser than S801 )
The screen is very good for a 720p and the built quality is excellent, no cracks or shocks after one year.
You can make your choice

Bought the S7 edge, got pissed.. 6p on the way..

After owning the Note 5 for a few months I got the itch to buy the S7 edge..
After a few days with it I have come to these assumptions.

Updates is one of the biggest reasons I don't think I could leave the Nexus line anymore. Another reason is touchwiz...or any other skin. I can't handle it. And the fact we already have a Android N preview while most devices aren't even on marshmallow yet...lol seals it all.

Bro i bought the 6p outta pocket, obv, so I was able to upgrade through sprint, the s7 edge was enticing so iiwent for it. Bringing it right back at 13 days. In 2 days the thing is bogged down so bad, the6p blows it outta the water. Doesn't help the bootloaders locked down to all hell.. That thing will never see root

Updates is one of the biggest reasons I don't think I could leave the Nexus line anymore. Another reason is touchwiz...or any other skin. I can't handle it. And the fact we already have a Android N preview while most devices aren't even on marshmallow yet...lol seals it all.

Hell yea, not only that man.. Snapdragon 820.... The damn S7 edge still lags. I can't believe it.
Yes it's much snappier than my Note 5 but still.. It's 3 days old & it's lagging already
My 6p was delivered today, I get home from work at 11pm et. Can't wait

Suffered with s6 for 5 months. Never again lucky I got out of it when I did so it didn't tank in value

Trust me, typing on the edge screen is horrible! I know from experience as I replaced my nexus 5 with the S6 edge (emerald green) last year in April. It was one of my major irritants (as well as the horrible battery life) and was one of the reasons why I wished I had just held on to my nexus 5 until the 6p was released and purchased the 6p outright. I sold my s6 edge without any hesitation and reverted back to the 6p. Planning on using this phone for 2 years or if possible 3 years.

I've never actually tried the S7 yet in hand...but ive played with all the other Samsung devices...and HTC and LG etc. Enough to know I don't care what processor they have, they won't work like a Nexus. And they lack updates massively. The newer Samsung design is certainly gorgeous no doubt....but still not enough to pull me from Nexus. I'm awaiting the new Google flagship.
It is amazing to me how much the S6 lags with any resource hogging apps, just a silly game, facebook, hangouts and chrome. So it does not surprise me the S7 would lag too.

That moment the whole squad gets delivered the same day. ?
I've had a Note 2, S4, and S6 edge....biggest complaint: SLOWWWWWWW, non-existent updates! Why buy something when the manufacturer screws the customer once they got your money?
Nexus all the way

Good points. Samsung just got lucky, there's no reason they should be the top Android brand in the US.

Well, at least they are doing well. On the order side, look at the maker of the first Android phone. We don't even know what HTC is doing nowadays.
