Finger print scanner? Where did they hide it? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any idea where the finger print scanner is?

On the power button in the back like the 5X or 6P

The power button on the back...

On the back, on the power button.

Power button configuration?

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a app to change the button that powers up the phone out of sleep.
Normally you press the power button and then unlock drag with your finger.
I would love to see it changed to the optical button press, as it's the only feature of the iphone i like
maybe you can use Screen Mode Widget ,change it's state to 'Awake Stay',then the device will not screen lock but will dim(press any button will awake the screen).Try it

Slide function doesnt seem to work.
I usually press the optical button or home button the im able to slide the screen to unlock, do not think this is implemented coz then the display will turn on and off if you fx has it a pocket.
If you press any button does the screen come to life? I mean are you able to unlock device? if so then it works

I've also used LockBot Free cuz I don't really like the HTC lock screen. How ever I stop using it because it wakes my phone with any button I press and I tense to hit the volume rocker all the time. but it is a good alternative.
Anybody tried this method from desire topic? (root needed)

Remaping buttons to create a dedicated camera button?

Any thoughts on whether it's possible to implement a dedicated camera button? It seems superfluous to have both the home button and the power button able to wake the screen, and it'd be great to have one be able to unlock to camera.
That wud be cool like assign pressing both volume up and volume down at the same time as the button

Yes, this would be great. don't let the thread die.

I think in theory that would be great, but what button would you replace?
The home and power buttons both have functionality that the other doesn't do. Both can unlock the screen (as you pointed out), but they don't both lock the screen. Also, only one of them actually performs the "home button" functions. So both are really needed.
I think matrixzone5's suggestion of a two-button action would probably be required.
Someone's already implemented on screen ICS buttons on the SGSIII, so for me ideally I'd have the power button as the camera button and the home button as the wake/lock button. Works for me because my case makes the power button hard to press.

[Q] Capacitative buttons & s-pen?

I didn't have this phone for very long before rooting and unlocking it, but I thought the S-Pen worked with the capacitative back and menu buttons when I first got the phone.
The S-Pen doesn't work with the capacitative buttons today. So am I remembering wrong, or does the S-Pen not work with the capacitative buttons?

I'm still fully stock and it doesn't work on the buttons.
The s pen doesn't work with the capacitive buttons. There are gestures you can use to activate them, though. If you hold the button and draw an upwards arrow ^ it will bring up the menu. If you hold the button and draw a left facing arrow < it will go back.

Good deal. I thought I was going crazy for a minute. Thanks for the quick replies!

Samsung Galaxy Alpha finger scanner issue.

The scanner doesn't seem to work properly.
Sometimes I can just swipe on the home key and it works, and sometimes I have to press it hardly and swipe at the same time for it to work.
Hwmodule(*#0*#) test's fingerprint scanner shows all the rows as 'PASS'.

Taking a screenshot. Both methods I know doesn't work...

So the first is the usual Power/Volume Down. It doesn't work. It keeps bringing up the Shutdown Menu.
The second is the Palm Swipe. It works, but it captures the screen of the Multiwindow app tray.
Anyone else having issues? Wish there was an option to take a screen shot using the spen.
I hate that Samsung has overridden the usual way of taking screenshots using the power/vol buttons and there is no way I've found to re-enable it. That said, I don't have an issue with taking screenshots using the palm swipe. I think it's cumbersome and yes, you have to get it "just right" but it works for me on my tablet.
You can swipe from the left or the right to get a screenshot. Have you tried from the left so you avoid bringing up the multiwindow app tray?

I have no problems using Volume Down and Power to take a screenshot.
Also, you could take a screenshot with the S-Pen by setting it to open Screen Write when you long press the button. You'd simply need to tap save without editing anything.

Thanks for your inputs. It's really odd that the power/volume doesn't work for me. The palm swipe from left works...unfortunately...i have palms with very high traction, lol...so it's very cumbersome. The screen write function is probably what's going to be the easiest for me. :good:
How odd. I've tried every thing I can think of using power and volume down (and up) and get no screenshot. All I get is the power off screen.
It's been very annoying for me because trying to swipe to get a screenshot is a test of my patience. I usually end up swiping and moving around what I wanted a shot of.

Perhaps you're pressing them too long? You just need to tap both at the same time, do not hold them. For me, if I hold them, I get the power options, but simply tapping them takes a screenshot.
Also, which build are you using?
Oh jeeze! It worked. Quickly tapping the buttons is the trick! Wow, never knew. Every other Android device I've owned required pressing and holding the buttons for a screenshot. Leave it to Samsung to be different...
Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, my Tab S was hold iirc. Maybe Samsung changed it this time because it's no longer the power button, it can now activate Bixby - Perhaps their testing proved it to be awkward with Bixby if you hold.
Anyway, glad I could help.

I believe they changed the hold time to a quick simultaneous press due to the newer Samsung phones (ie Note 10) using hold power button to bring up Bixby by default. Probably caused an issue by calling up Bixby when attempting to take a screenshot? Not sure, but it seems to make sense based on when this was changed.
