How to Underclock CPU? - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi friends. I want to underclock my cpu but i cant. I used cpu controller apps like setcpu etc. also i give a root permission but doesn't work :/ So do we need a custom kernel ? Anyone know how to make a kernel i found kernel source but i know nothing like Jon Snow
https://github.com/BalcanGSM/MediaTek-HelioX10-Kernel/tree/c2ef416a960105c4e1f2ae35f7e47073b4696064
I want to close 4 core and change my freq to 1.5 ghz. Thank you. Good day.

Did you try Kernel Adiutor (Root)?

Because it's useless. We want to increase battery life and cooler.

1- Because at 200€ it's a best-buy
2- It depends on what you do with your phone.. you don't need 8x2.2GHz to open whatsapp, to make a call or to send an email

he din ask gpu overclock btw ....he asked which one shows gpu clock value.
I just tried all apps, it seems that Android is only able to check its CPU clock instead of GPU clock.....
Thanks all :crying:

Kernel Tuner? It shows GPU frequency on my Padfone 2.
The because the cpu clocks are in standard files in Android , with the GPU there are no Standards so every GPU has it own files. If you want to do something on it search your gpu and go deeeep in the root of your phone, thats the only way. For phones like a galaxy s3 there sure is a tutorial but for not very popular phones it is hard work.

So u should make a kernel which supports different frquencies..

As mentioned, you should make the kernel CPU frequency boost

hello dashingdwivedi cant you and ur group make it(kernel with high frequency)???
Due to the cost of dis cellphone, so many people are using it plz work on that
Dude in dat grup most of them r themer. Der is not any dev.
i think 1 ghz is enough though it is single core.. but overclocking can harm the phone !! try some other ways to make ur phone fast. depends on how u use it..

[KERNEL] [GPROJ] GPROJ-X Kernel

I've decided to make a flashable zip of the latest kernel I've been working on. It's based on gproj, with added faux gamma/sound/voltage (thanks paulicat!) and BLX and additional governors and schedulers.
This kernel also has a min frequency of 162 MHz.
The zip includes the lights.so for canadian geebs.
Included governors:
msm-dcvs
userspace
smartmax
powersave
ondemandplus
ondemand
lazy
interactive
intellidemand
asswax
wheatley (default)
performance
Included schedulers:
noop
deadline
row
cfq
fiops
sio (default)
This should work on all CAF based ROMs (CM 11.0, Carbon, Mahdi, etc)
I'm not responsible if this damages your phone, destroys data, etc...
Link is HERE
Sources are HERE

Double tap to wake is disabled due to battery concerns. Double tap to lock is rom dependent
Kernel seems to be working fine on cfxe for me thanks man gonna charge battery to 100% and see how long it takes to drain so i'll tell you guys later with pics and all that crap
thanks @ConnorBaker for making porting cfxe to our device

hey dude dunno if you were planning on adding this but you gonna add "intellithermal control" on some near update to your kernel?

Hadn't looked at it until now. Shouldn't be too hard, so I may add it in. Not tonight though :S
@ronasimi your kerne+cfxe rom = perfection heh but I'd still wish for some intelli-thermal or the other one i forgot the name heh or just a small update just to keep stuff updated and hopefully making the kernel even better as of now it is perfecto heh and thanks for your work.
Can this work on official slimkat?? i dono how to find out if the rom is CAF based :/
Will it work at stock 20j ROM? Thanks

I'm not sure, gproj is based on LG sources so it might be worth a try. Just make sure you nandroid first, and let us know how it goes.

I'm not using n4 sources for this, I'm using gproj which is based off of LG e975 sources. Have a look at the git history and you'll see what I mean. It is caf though.

Kernel Adiutor

It lets you turn off the cores; which I found useful in games like chaos rings 3(makes the phone damned hot). I had two of the lower powered cores running with no lag. I don't understand why these games even use all the cpu power; probably just inefficient I guess. I bought the donate app as I want to support the dev for the hard work. Really recommend this to root users.
anyone tried to tweak governor settings? should be possible to get out more performance with the right settings.
Know of any good options for extending battery life? So far i've disabled the big cores.
Tried using "trickster mod" but so far it was installed on my phone the cores kept working on 1300 :S when uninstalled it went back to 324 (smth like that). weird, ill try what you have recommended!

Be sure to apply on boot
Unfortunately this comunity it´s dead because we can do great things with this app... But we need a new kernel... Unfortunately this it´s not going to happen...
You'll never know
Did you disable the two "big" cores, or 2 of the LITTLE ones?

I have been using the following settings with apply on boot.
I have noticed a decrease in heat and the battery seems to last much longer when doing simple tasks such as web browsing.
Hopefully this helps you! [emoji1]
