[Q] New Device. Kies Not Showing FW Info.

Hi,
I am fairly new to smart phone development so please go easy on me this time
First, some info on my environment:
MacBook Pro
Mac OS X 10.7.5
Samsung GT-I9100
No SIM card installed yet
Samsung Kies 2.0.0.12095_7
Model Number: GT-I9100
Adroid Version: 4.0.3
Baseband Version: I9100UHLPE
Kernel Version: 3.0.15-I9100UHLPE-CL200654 [email protected] #3
Build Number: IML74K.UHLPE
Location: Eastern Standard Time, USA
So, my Samsung i9100 arrived this week from NewEgg.com. I was surprised it came installed with Adroid Version 4.0.3. Then I read that Samsung recently released 4.0.4 so I installed Kies, hoping to upgrade to 4.0.4.
In Kies, under Firmware Information, I see the following:
This is the latest firmware.
Current firmware version: PDA:LPE / PHONE:LPE / CSC:LPE(TTT)
Latest firmware version: PDA:LPE / PHONE:LPE / CSC:LPE(TTT)
I read that the firmware version can also be obtained by opening the dial pad and typing *#1234# So I did that and found this:
PDA: I9100UHLPE
PHONE: I9100UHLPE
CSC: I9100UUBLPE
Build Info: Fri Mar 9 13:49:34 KST 2012
Now I am confused:
1.) Did my phone arrive from NewEgg with an official Samsung Android version?
2.) Why is Kies not displaying the firmware version and how can I fix it?
3.) Assuming I get Kies fixed, lets say I want to wipe my phone, start from scratch, and install the official Samsung version of 4.0.4 Is that possible and how?
4.) Any other recommendations?
Thanks for your help!

This forum is for the upcoming Verizon version of the Galaxy Note II in the U.S., which hasn't been released yet (and will be considerably different than the version you have). There isn't a dedicated forum for your specific model number of the Note, but you'll probably have the best luck asking your question in the forum for the international version of the original Note.

[Q] Unable to unroot Samsung Galaxy S3

Hi guys,
I had a problem with my Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 and I had to factory reset it. Now I am back to the 4.1.2 android version and I am unable to update the software! Each time I click on " Software Update" I get the message "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available" as I previously rooted the phone!
I followed this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2215166
But I am unable to download from the terafile.com!! Eacht time I need to wait 58 minutes for download and after 1 hour it keeps telling that I have to wait again 58 minutes! What a crap website!
Is there another way around to download the following? :
Model: GT-I9300
Country: Netherlands
Version: Android 4.1.2
Changelist: N/A
Build date: Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000
Product Code: PHN
PDA: I9300XXELLA
CSC: I9300PHNELL2
MODEM: I9300CEELL1
Once I unroot it from the 4.1.2 version I can upgrade the software.
Please help, thank you a lot!

[Q] Manual update to KitKat 4.4.2 for Samsung S4 Mini I9190 unbranded from UAE Region

Hello there,
I own a Samsung S4 Mini I9190 unbranded from United Arab Emirates, using Android JellyBean 4.2.2.
AP: I9190XXUBNA1
CP: I9190XXUBNA1
CSC: I9190OJVBNA1
I am unable to make the KitKat 4.4.2 update since apparently it is not available for such region. However, I came across this article on the web:
update-galaxy-s4-mini-i9190-xxucng1-android-442-firmware from Team Android (sorry I'm not able to post links yet)
The author claims any unbranded I9190, regardless the region, should be able to perform the manual update to KitKat using the firmware provided:
Model: GT-I9190
Model name: GALAXY S4 mini
Country: Russia
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 1995154
Build date: Thu, 03 Jul 2014 03:51:09 +0000
Product Code: SER
PDA: I9190XXUCNG1
CSC: I9190SERCNG1
MODEM: I9190XXUCNG1
Is it safe to try it out? I have already backed up everything.
Is there anything I should know about? I don't feel that comfortable with using an update intended for a different firmware.
Thanks a lot for your time.

Rooting Samsung S5 Duos (SM-G900FD)

I have Samsung (SM-G900FD) with Lolipop(5.0) and I want to root it without tripping the knox. I have been searching the internet for past couple of days and I have found a way. It involves, among other steps, downloading and installing the "towelroot" apk, but here is the problem. Towelroot method does not work with Lolipop and I have to downgrade the software to Kitkat(4.4.2), the software version my phone came with.
Once again I have searched thoroughly to find a way to downgrade to Kitkat and I came to the understanding that I need to download official KitKat firmware from sammobile and install it manually, but I don't know which firmware to download from the list that appears against my phone's model.
I have following questions:
1. How will I know which firmware to download from the list.
2. Once I have downgraded and rooted my phone, can I upgrade to android 5.0
Here is my device info,
Model Number: SM-G900FD
Android Version: 5.0
Baseband version: G900FDXXU1BOE1,G900FDXXU1BOE1
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-4516970, [email protected] #1, Tue May 12 13:27:06 KST 2015
Build Number: LRX21T.G900FDXXU1BOE2
SE for Android status: Enforcing, SEPF_SM-G900FD_5.0_0027
United Arab Emirates: TRA ID : 0016333/08, TA : 00000000/00
Anyone?
have you found already..?
