E5803 or E5823 - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I was expecting my model number to say E5803, but its actually E5823.
According to the white paper (http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/whitepapers/xperia-z5-compact-e5803-and-e5823-white-paper/) the only difference I can spot is that the E5823 has cat6 (compared to cat4 on the E5803.)
I live in UK and just received my Yellow Z5c from Handtek albeit with a 2pin Sony power plug hence they supplied a UK converter plug.
I'm wondering if I've been supplied with a Z5c which is meant for the far East or something.
Any insight much appreciated.
Of course cat6 is more appealing than cat4.
But are there any other differences, and why have they made 2 versions? There must be a reason for 2 versions.
Cheers

On the box, there's a "Intended for <country>" on the sticker, just under "RevX", there you can check where it's meant to. Not a big deal, imo, you'll be able to use it just as well and the other one.

Download XperiFirm http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142
and check the different firmware Countries for E5803 & E5823

if you mean the type c plug (http://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/) we use that in sweden
btw i also got the yellow E5823

[Q] Differences between GT-I9300RWDDBT and GT-I9300RWDBTU?

Hi, I'm about to buy me new S3 and I found 2 models being sold in Amazon but I'm not sure the differences between them. Does anyone can tell me the differences between these two GT-I9300RWDDBT and GT-I9300RWDBTU?
Thanks!
i think thats just software versions, as long as it says GT-I9300 you know that its a Galaxy S3, the other codes at the end prob represent firmware versions, even if you get a phone with old firmware version though, just update it Click thanks if helped
Since we are all guessing here, I'd rather believe that this code has little to do with software and more to do with hardware, like the intended market (US or EU power adapter plug) or the type of radio (if there is more than one, but since it's not LTE then probably not). No need for Thanks.
Its the sale code of the phone. DTB is for Germany, the other one, idk? Seems to be UK sale code.
So choose the right phone for your country
If u google the DBTU model it looks like its CDMA

[Q] will Ebay tablets work inUSA?

I am seeing z2s on ebay and amazon from the UK and Hong Kong. Are they genuine? Will they work in the US in regards to power and ROMs and such? No US speced model listed on Sony site as of yet so im cautious to by one intended for another market. What would need to be done to use it in the US?
There are 3 different models of z2 tablets, wifi only 16gb, 32gb, and wifi+lte 16gb and they all are worldwide as far as i know
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
From what I have read Sony has, wifi only and wifi+LTE model.
From the research I did the wifi+lte model has pretty much every band in it. So it will work in the US on Att and T-mobile.
I received a reply from one of the UK vendors and he said that the charger is 3 prong style not 2 prong and woulld need an adapter. I am assuming the actual tablet electronics would be the same though. Can anybody confirm? Also, is there any reason you could not recieve US updates if is has a UK rom or is it the same thiing. Just worried because my TF201 tablet had different ROMs for each world wide market.
The charger plug is an issue, although minor in my opinion. Bigger issue is warranty.

E5823 vs E5803?

I'm thinking of picking up a Z5 Compact for my switch to AT&T. But which model should I get?
I already know that the E5823 supports cat 6 LTE while the E5803 only supports cat 4 (which I don't care about) and that both models will work in the US, but I'm more curious on the software update front. Since the E5803 is obviously an older batch, will it get updated less frequently and have less dev support than the E5823? Are mods and roms between the two models different?
I'm only asking since I can get the E5803 for $20-$30 cheaper on Amazon and is eligible for Prime shipping, while the E5823 is more expensive and doesn't have Prime shipping. I'd like to go the cheaper and faster route if possible.
The 5823 is the International version, the 5803 is the US version. The US version has the fingerprint sensor disabled. You can flash different firmware to get the fingerprint sensor working, I've read. I bought the International version. Works just fine here in South Carolina.

That's weird, the E8503 on Amazon that's cheap claims to be an international version and has no warranty. I'll investigate further. It is tempting to get the US version and enable the fingerprint sensor just for the warranty though. I want a fingerprint sensor, that's the only reason I'm going for the Z5C over something like a Z3 or any other last generation flagship.
I see the listing you're talking about. Judging from the comments and Q&A, it's not really clear which model it is. If the US warranty is important to you, you may need to make sure you can return it if it is the wrong model. From what I've read about Sony service, though (especially here in the US), you're probably gonna be frustrated if you ever need to use it.
I opted for the International version so that the fingerprint sensor would work right out of the box. I've owned several Sony and Sony-Ericcson phones and never had any problems with them. I've rooted and flashed all of them except for my Z5c because it's already very capable unmodded,, the firmware is still current, and I didn't want to lose the DRM keys.

I went for the international the day the US version came out as it was cheaper and had fingerprint scanner. Now that we know the only difference between the two is software you should just get whatever is cheapest.

Honor 9 Internetional: a few questions if you please

Hi there guys..
I just saw an offer on GB for the Honor 9 at € 281, which is indeed a great price. It's the International version, they say but there's something weird.. I read here on xda a few people that ordered the International version (don't know where) that should be AL00 but received Asian version, L29.. He had to flash the international rom. It's not that I fear flashing something but I wouldn't like to buy a thing and receive another one..
Anyway, just in case, flashing the International firmware does stop receiving updates, somehow? Until the firmware is stock, unrooted and bootloader untouched it shouldn't be an issue, I guess..
More important: I read that both versions have the same identical hardware so it's natural to think that the LTE 800 MHz is missing from International version, isn't it? Otherwise what's the difference about? Just a firmware? Still it would be weird because if I recall correctly Honor 8 eu version had it (but I maybe be wrong).
Last but not least, from your personal experience, is it a good device to buy for that price? I' not so sure and I would like to wait for something new but the offer is really good considering the original price..
Mmmm it's weird btw.. I just checked on AliExpress for prices comparison and I found a device with Internetional Honor 9 but the codes to pick from are AL00, AL10 or TL01.. so neither one is Internetional version (yeah I could flash as we said)
EDIT: this is the link https://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_649021.html at normal price, there's a code for discount (if you need tell me via PM I could share, even if there are only 30 so don't know how much they'll be available). From the latter screenshots in the page it seems it should be STF something, could it be? What's that?
The only color available is the pure black, maybe gray is better as overall looking, isn't it?
EDIT2: I see you have it, STF from your signature

sorry mate I edit my post.. so basically from the link I posted above, the screenshot says STF-L09C432B100 so it should be basically as the one you have.. was your device International when you bought it?

I fear this is the International version signature, the European one (where LTE B20 is used if poor 4G signal) is FRD-L09 or L16 (32GB and 64GB).. I'm really tempted but I'm not sure now
EDIT info here (post 4 and so on) https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/model-stf-l09-t3636884/page3 and here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/frd-l19-europe-version-64gb-buy-t3458943
This i my case. I live in France, last month I ordered a Honor 9 black on the website priceminister with good offert, saved around 130€ vs buying here. The seller is from China, so I thought this phone is Chinese version, I prepared myself that I will do "rebrand". I received the phone yesterday. It is written AL00 version on the box, but when I started, surprisingly there is already all Google services, and in the settings, it is L09...version, and it received an update to ...130 immediately after. So, I thought the seller did "rebrand" the phone before. I'm happy with it. Only one minus thing, the charger plug is asian type, not european type, I need an adapter

That's the same case with me. Though I don't live in Europe and honor 9 is not officially available but there are grey importers that bring in the phone from China and rebrand it. Luckily the seller did provide an adapter.
Problem is not the model strictly but the fact that only European models have band 20 (800 MHz) for LTE.. (so FRD-etc) ?

Question Japan vs global

What are the differences between Sony Japanese and international phones? Are there any hardware changes apart from the software changes. Why are the Japanese ones so cheap?
There are differents i think and cheap ? Because Sony is made in Japan.
But if you take two of the same type, you can see that the Japanese phone heats up and the signal decreases. I observed it closely with several models. eg xperia 1,xz3,xperia 1iii
They're not being shipped out of the country lol

Only Japanese ones come into my country
How much do you want?
Differences:
1.All JP mdel support "Felica" payment(Some NFC-based stuff requires specific hardware that support it) but global model don't have these so it can't be enabled even with JP firmware flashed.
2.If you mean au/docomo/softbank version(like SO-xxx or SOV-xxx), you might not able to use it THEORETICALLY ouside Japan or with other carrier, the bootloader is not unlockable in these model as well.
3.These model mentioned in (2) only have single SIM slots and lower RAM/storage in past days, not sure if it's the same for recent model.
Why it's cheap:
SONY is pushing carrier free smartphone forward in Japan, you can purchase the carrier free model now, but I think the model you mentioned most likely to be the carrier specific model, and that's why it's cheap, I guess.
