Should I have?

I had a razr made a backup, got a razr maxx and installed my backup to that since they are identical except for the battery. Would there be any side effects?

Made a back up of what?
Was the first razr rooted with a full system backup? If so, then you should be ok. I've done that with a ton of HTC's, but then again, this is moto not HTC.
You'll have to root the maxx to do this of course.

I assume you mean a nandroid backup, and in that case, then no there would be no side effect. The only side effects would be that you're battery stats would be off for the first charge cycle.
Yeah I made a nandroid backup. I didn't think it would matter since the phone is identical.

[INFO] Motorola Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX ICS Bug Fix To Be Ready in September?

According to the site’s sources, the long-awaited ICS bug fix for the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX may not be ready until September. That’s about a month after the original mid-August target, and if you’re counting the days with us, it is currently mid-August
http://easternmorningherald.com/motorola-droid-razr-droid-razr-maxx-ics-bug-fix-to-be-ready-in-september/1214804/
I don't have the problems they indicate. All about an update to improve what is already good.
Counting the days...I could care less!

Very interesting as I have 2 phones that out of the blue can't keep any signal and drop sometimes for an hour and then are fine. I tried a new similar and various other things. Wonder if that will fix issues I am having.
Seems strange we've only seen a handful of leaks.

i hope they keep to their word ics is really buggy on the razr
I have to turn my phone off and on at least every other day otherwise it will go through a bunch off apps like a slide show. Or if I'm texting it will enter a bunch of random characters on its own. It's like the screen is stuck until I reset it. Sometimes the screen doesn't respond at all.

Look forward it~
no issues on razr maxx, ICS is smooth and fast
Battery Life did take a significant hit and I hope the bug fix does come in september.
Ics typing is a nightmare....inserts spaces randomly.

ICS and My Razr
I have zero problems with Stock Razr Maxx 4.0.4 Rooted + some minor tweaks to the CPU, FS, and dual boot using boot manager.
Days without rebooting, unless I am messing with it in recovery, battery life is strong, and no dropped calls etc....
The only update I really need is something that makes the camera work better, picture quality is awful. Third party cams do not seem to solve the problem. Someone mentioned a thread that modifies JPEG compression, I was going to look for that today.
I haven't had one problem with my phone since the update, did you all backup your data and do a cache/ factory wipe before the updating? That's what I've always done. Even my old iphones had problems if i did a major update without wiping.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Lately I have had signal loss.
Not update related. I moved and am in this dead zone. Walk outside the house and signal is like a rock.
+1 on full wipe.
Though smart actions does an annoying glitch but that is something with the app itself or its interaction with data switching on and off.

Factory wiped with matts utility. No problems here either! I do however wish I had the battery from the maxx. Only thing I don't like about this phone. Battery sucks.
no problem
i have a xt910 on android 4.0.4 and dont have problems works fine and fast.

I think we need a tegra 3 overclocked and a class 10 microsd to run asphalt 7.
Same lag here

Got some problems with incoming SMS on my PSHAsia Razr, and the battery life is not very good on ICS. Hope this will be fixed.
Also when I turn on auto sync, the process com.google.android.[whatever] FCs. Not critical but very irritating.

I heard that the new update could include a unlockable bootloader for the international razr /maxx so it can be included in the unlock tool.
Hopefully its true.

Motorola Droid Razr M

hi all, I'm considering getting the Motorola Droid Razr M. I currently have a Samsung Droid Charge (rooted, but still stuck on GB). My main reason for getting the Razr is for better battery life and a smaller device. My Charge drains at 5% per hour on 4G in idle mode (1% per hour on WiFi in idle mode). Thus, I need Juice Defender just to make it from morning to night.
Curious to see how easy root/unroot is, and what the benefits are (aside from removing bloatware)? I've been somewhat spoiled with my Charge, as the phone is unbrickable. Is the Razr just as user-friendly?
thanks!
I had the Charge as well, and while I prefer Odin and the Charge in terms of flashing kernels, ROMs, radios, etc., the RAZR is just as easy.
The RAZR has locked boot loaders. The release of kexec should allow better development but it's gonna take a few months. You should wait and get the RAZR HD or Maxx HD. Those two will give you better battery than the RAZR M and they have better displays. Same as the GS3 I believe, Super Amoled HD.

Pretty much what he said... but the razr m seems like a better fit if you want all around smaller.. we have booting kexec roms with everything working but camera due to ril... lol.. im sure your familiar hearing that coming from the charge.. im personally gonna pick up the maxx hd on battery life alone...

thanks for the responses y'all.... I'm not a developer, so I'm new to the "kexec" terminology. I did some google searching, and from what I gathered (briefly), is that kexec is needed to install custom kernels (hence the K part)?
I don't mind waiting for development to develop for the Razr, as it looks like the M has some "smartaction" features that help with battery conservation.
just getting sick and tired of my charge dropping down to 85% after just 2 hours (even though I'm running JD).
Be aware that likely most development will happy with the developer edition of the M. deves have chimed in on that pretty loudly. at least on the twitters.
Did anyone notice this?
In countries outside the U.S., the device will ship with an unlockable bootloader where operators allow.

It will be tough to resist, that HD Maxx.
Hopefully the ergonomics are better than current maxx. The current maxx, even with same screen size as my Charge, just feels clumsy in comparison.
Odd considering it is thinner than the Samsung.
MAXX

I will belive it when I see it.
If the bootloader is unlocked in the EU version I might get a HD MAXX.
Ofcourse, I will wait until it is confirmed. I will never trust motorola's word again.

would he razr hd get the same battery life though?
I mean it has a newer processor which helps with power consumption
so would that make the 2 about the same if you figure that in?
and just to make sure everyone's on the same page....
im talking about the droid razr maxx and NOT the max hd
The maxx's battery is much larger. A better processor will give some additional life, but not as much as a bigger battery. I simply no longer pay attention to my battery with my maxx.

I have had a razr maxx and the razr hd before. In my opinion. The razr hd battery seems to last as long as the older razr maxx. I would get the razr hd

Same here, I hardly ever look at the battery, I have a Maxx xt910. I am currently on ICS because my phone is a Asia.03 (that I somehow got stuck on EU firmware...anyone know how to revert PM me lol)
It all depends on whether you want to upgrade past JB or not. The Razr Maxx is going to get JB by the end of the first quarter, but that's it. No other updates after JB. The Razr HD may get Key Lime Pie because it's newer but it's not guaranteed. Also, the Maxx doesn't have NFC capabilities so that means no Android Beam. I don't know if the HD has it or not.

Well is price a major factor? I think the Razr Maxx is relatively cheap or free on contract, whereas the HD is $200.

[Q] Droid Razr .img firmware

I have motorola droid razr xt910. It truned off and i can't turn it on. It works only when it on charge. Battery is low, cause i can't charge it, cause it reboots all time. I want to flash it with PhoenixCard Tool, using microsd card. Where i can get firmware for my device in .img format?
As far I know you will have to get a Motorola factory cable I found them on eBay for less than 10$

I live inUkraine so i need to wait about 3 weeks
Yeah i understand. I just think from my research that is the only way unless some here had another idea
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
I saw a web page suggesting a way to recover without a factory cable but I don't recall where. It involved a sequence of button pushes (e.g. vol up + volume down + power followed by another button sequence). Some people reported success others did not. It would be worth a try. I will keep looking, but you can probably find it if you do some web searching on something like "xt910 or xt912 won't charge"

Have you tried this (not the instructions I mentioned earlier: still looking for those)? Hold the screen lock button, and the volume down button for around 10 seconds. This is the same as taking out the battery on an older phone, basically resets the hardware.

I tried it it did not work for me but maybe for him all we can do is hope.
