Can't update from 5.10.15 - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i have the redmi note 2 prime with 5.10.15 and recovery 2.0.1
the updates says there is a newer version (5.10.22), but the insallation cancel with "error, failed to apply update.zip".
i tried to download the incremental roms 5.10.17-5.10.22 and put it on the sdcard, but the problem is sill there...
i also tried to wipe cache via fastboot erase cache, but nothing changed.
can i fix this without a factory reset?
thanks!

You must put the zip into the Internal Storage not in Sd Card. Use the updater app not the recovery. Go to updater app, install from sd Card and push to the zip which you want update.

Clockworkmod Problem

I rooted my s4 successfully and installed rom manager, super su.. etc. When I boot into recovery I don't get the options many instructions call for like "Install zip from SD".
All I get are:
reboot system now
apply update from adb
apply update from external storage
wipe data / factory
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
Someone suggested I download goo manager, and install open recovery script but that made no difference, still the same options. And if I select "apply update from external storage" and target the rom, it fails on "verification.." and restarts.
Anyone have any ideas for me? I have the cm10 rom and gapps ready to go, just need to see "install from SD".
Thanks

[Q] ROM unzip error message

Newbie here. When I rooted by Vz Galaxy Note 2, TWRP was installed. I downloaded five different ROM's. Every one of them, get the same message that the zip file is corrupt when I attempt to flash with TWRP. Downloaded again to different SD card, same thing, can't unzip. SD card is formatted FAT32. I boot into TWRP recovery, factory reset/wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and then install the ROM from the SD card within the install menu in TWRP, but I keep getting the same can't unzip/file corrupt message. (No, I didn't unzip them myself, they are zipped just as I downloaded them and on my external SD card.) Any ideas/help is appreciated.
Thanks, Cookie

Update TWRP, not your ROM. Hit the menu button in Goo and select Install OpenRecoveryScript.

Trying to install new rom and I get an error

Im using Philz recovery and I have been installing new roms just fine. I wanted to format my internal storage cause the new rom required it. and now when I go to install a new rom it says E:Cannont write to /sdcard/clockworkmod/ .last_install_path. How can I fix this?
Try mounting the storage, wiping again, and try flashing again.

Yes, this. After you wipe everything reboot to recovery from within recovery. When/if prompted to install superuser, do so. Get the latest recovery as well if you are not already on it.
Good luck.

Stock recovery?

Has stock recovery changed through the life of this phone? I have the original img recovery file but want to make sure and have the most updated.

In OOS 2.2.1 I see a different stock recovery than in OOS 2.1.2 as far as i remember. Though it still says Ver 1.0. In the main menu i've the options: Internal Storage, Install from ADB, Wipe data and cache, Advanced, Exit. Internal storage shows anything on the SDCard0, Install from ADB askes to upgrade Android from USB, Wipe data and cache gives the options: Factory Reset, Wipe data, Wipe cache. Advanced shows: Reboot to fastboot, Format data, Ver 1.0. Exit shows: Reboot, Power off.
I seem to remember the OOS 2.1.2 recovery had some red accents in it and a choise between chinese and english.

RedMi Pro -- BL unlocked , TWRP installed , OS Deleted , Unable to transfer ROM

Hi all ,
Sorry for posting this here just the RedMi Pro forum isn't the most active and this is more of a general problem than a model specific problem.
So I recently bought a RedMi Pro, but was getting annoyed at the chinese bloatware and random phone features that were appearing in chinese characters. I tried to follow instructions posted here
I was following the steps but came to an issue at step 15
14. press wipe, advanced wipe - choose: dalvik/art cache, system, cache, data, internal storage
15. if it works without errors jump to point 18. - if fails with errors (unable to mount /data) press wipe, format data: yes
16. reboot, recovery
17. try again: wipe, advanced wipe - choose: dalvik/art cache, system, cache, data, internal storage
18. install, choose the redmi pro rom (.zip) - if your copy of the xiaomi.eu rom is gone (wipe all data and no copy of the rom on your sd-card), you have to copy the rom again to the internal memory

So I did the format data option which removed the OS and it seems where I also had the EU/Global ROM. Now I can boot to fastboot mode only and with the ADB get into TWRP recovery mode but the computer fails to recognise the phone so I've no idea how I can transfer the ROM onto the phone to begin trying to put the OS on it
Sd card?
