IR Blaster doesn't work with Smart Remote apps - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been trying to make Smart IR Remote and Peel Smart Remote with with the IR Blaster but it seems that the ROM isn't allowing access or the libraries are different.
Only the inbuilt IR remote works but is limited in functions.
Anyone else have this issue?
Else I am very happy with Honor 7 so far...

Same here. Using Honor 7/PLK-AL10 (CN model). No single response from Peel towards fairly recent Philips AmbiLight. Previously Peel worked superb, with a Samsung Galaxy S5 mini.
Rooted or not?
What's your region code in build.prop? (product.language, product.region)

The only other app I've got to work that is compatible with the IR driver is ZaZaRemote https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tiqiaa.remote

Peel Smart Remote did not work for me too on Sony TV

One way around this is to Edit your "Smart Controller" App. For instance I edited volume buttons to be used for Surround Sound (External speakers). This can be done by either by editing existing buttons on the remote or by using 'Expand' button. So you can practically add any remote function by key learning method available on "Smart Controller' App. Please feel free if any further help is needed regarding this feature.

Peel Remote
Hi,
The Smart Controller works fine alright, it is Peel TV remote that does not work or get configured. Since my Set top box was not listed in the list, I had to manually edit the Smart Controller anyway for it to work
EDIT- Rather the Smart Controller doesn't work completely fine. Every button works fine except the channel selection buttons (0 to 9). If I press say 3, it takes 33 as the input. So I want to key in channel 100, it will invariably got to 110 (double of the first press, double of the second press double of the third press, 110000, but since the TV recognizes 3 characters, it will stop at 110).

[Request] Any IR applications

Hay guys
I was wondering if there are any good applications which would make use of the IR blaster on my HTC ONE
for example TV remote control apps
because i searched the net and couldn't find any good app that works with HTC ONE'S IR Blaster

I'm just using the included "TV" app and it's working excellent. Not only does it give you Remote functionality, but also will pull in your provider's channel guides/listing for your viewing pleasure
irdroid or androidirc,
you can google it ,to find the right site to download, i did'nt find any application in google play

Honestly, Sense TV app that comes with the phone, does a real good decent job as a Remote app.

OP's question is still relevant. Until we have market apps that utilize the IR blaster, this is yet another feature that's dependent upon using a Sense-laden ROM.
Look up peel on the playstore... I haven't used it yet but it's supposedly used with devices with an ir port.

Ha gave a link anyway...
I'm looking for alternatives too, the built in App doesn't support my denon receiver and I can't seem to figure out how to tell the remote I want to use the menu button on my TV sometimes and not my DVR.
Not sure of any apps, but there are workarounds to your problems. Create completely separate remotes for your devices when you don't want overlap, or if it's just one button that overlaps you can map that to one of the buttons on the HTC remote app that you aren't using (for me, that's the "." button on the number pad).
Will the remote app still not support your receiver if you do it the hard way (programming each button)? Or is just that you would rather not have to go through that (understandable).

I'd rather not have to program each button. I'm longing for the Harmony folks releasing a remote app. Activity based remotes are awesome.
I'm actually looking for an app that will mimic the Apple Remote so that I can control my Macbook with it.
I am just looking for an app that will skip all the programming BS and just left me use it as a remote. I don't have any service as I use 100% streaming and downloading for my content. Also simple functions like power/input take extra button presses. Should be much easier than it is.

The problem with this is it requires a separate hub and doesn't make use of the built-in IR blaster. I too yearn for a Harmony-like app that makes use of my IR blaster...

[Q] Using the HTC IR Blaster as a Camera remote?

IS there any way to use the HTC One as a remote for my Nikon D7100? I know I've got an IR blaster, Bluetooth, esc... But I'm not sure if there is any way to go about using it as a remote shutter activator. My camera does not have Bluetooth, however it does have to inferred receivers.
Let me know if you guys have any idea.
Thanks

sure, you just need to make a app for that.

you can
not true. using it with my D7000 and it works just fine. you just have to create a new remote then when it says choose tv brand you select unkown manufacturer and then you go an manually teach the phone what you want to do. now, providing that you already have a remote compatible with your camera you just pres the remote button and set it to whatever button from the remote you want. there are 26 of them so there are plenty  i set mine to the OK one because i think it is the easyest one to hit. enjoy!
This app looks interesting for stuff like that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.remotefairy2&hl=en but I wasn't (yet) aware you could train the built-in remote from HTC as described in the above post.
shameless plug
Shameless plug here, but I put together an app that does exactly this
There are a few on the play store, but search for "SLR Camera IR Remote" for mine (been a long time member here, but been lurking a lot.. so I don't have enough posts to post external links).
I wish the remote app was a bit simpler. Having to bounce all over to control my tv and dvr is rather annoying...
It should just need an update to add the capability to recognize other things such as cameras that have IR sensors (personally I didn't know such a thing existed)
The app needs a squeeze to put as much control as possible into one screen so you don't have to bounce back and forth. A toggle somewhere to swap between as well. Won't happen unless someone makes an app or HTC decides to see their folly.
Still, it's unique, so it's nice to use when I don't feel like gettin up for the actual remote lol.

I thought more xfinity Comcast users would be interested in this app as you would have access to your cable box/DVR, watch every channel you subscribe to without affecting anyone else watching cable on your physical cable box

I sideloaded the latest version of the Xfinity TV app version 3.1.0.014
The app does not support proper navigation with android tv remote as it is intended to be used on a touch interface.
You can however connect a mouse via USB OTG and use the app. I have watched around an hour of TV on the app and did not have any major issues.
It is a little buggy at times exiting and re-entering the app and I have had a force close but it is usable.
Once they update for Android TV support I will be very happy. (I am hoping they update for Android TV support. I haven't found any information to say they are for sure.)

Comcast released another app update today. Hopefully it didn't break things for you, let me know how it goes, I am thinking about getting a Nexus Player for this app. I doubt they will ever support Android TV, they would be losing $10 per month from folks who are currently renting their own comcast boxes for additional TVs.

I just uninstalled the previous version and installed the new version 3.1.1.019
I am not noticing any changes and it still seems to be working fine.
I have a keyboard/mouse combo connected to the Nexus Player that I use to navigate in the app which is a little clunky but does work.
I am watching some On Demand on it right now with no issues.

has anyone figured out why the Xfinity TV app closes or how to fix this I have the newest version installed on my nexus player and on my nvidia shield and on both devices the app closes after about 10 minutes of watching a live or on demand show and goes back to the Home screen? On my fire stick the app doesn't close but I get other playback error on live channels. The TV to Go app works 100% on my correctly it never closes but it lacks a channel guide and DVR abilities so I would rather use the X1 TV app instead. any suggestions on how to get the app to stop closing back to the home screen?
as a side note for those trying to find a controller solution, I use a QQ-Tech Mini Bluetooth Keyboard W Touch pad for Android OS Windows from Amazon for about 20 bucks. I use this for all 3 of my boxes to control the Xfinity TV and TV to Go apps it works grate its about 7 inches long so about the size of a TV remote. mine is rechargeable with a light up keyboard. this will also make using Chrome and other sideloaded apps on Android TV so much easier to use.
I watched it the other day for like 2 hours and didnt have 1 issue, are you on the latest firmware on your nexus player? Also has anyone tried the update that came out today?

Understood, i refuse to get X1 because right now i pay 80 Bucks for 150 Channels + HBO and 75Megabit Internet. I don't need a DVR made by them, nor do i need anything else they deem fancy. I wouldn't have Comcast at all if i could have the option, but they are the fastest within 100 feet of my location. Lot of OTA DVR Options Exist, some are like 10-15 Years Old. (The PSX Console was a PS2 with built in DVR if that says anything). i Have a hacked Roamio i use to record stuff.

The Xfinity TV app (not TV Go) works, but sometimes looses track of the "Home" network.
We are using a friend's login info to test it- Our 2 NP's both have M 6.0.
It will not work out of the box hardwired for channels you have not viewed before- i.e on your "previously viewed channels" list, prompts you to use your cellular data connection, but has an "allow just this time" link that will let it through a LAN.
Seems the TV (not TV Go) app keeps track of the WiFi connections and designates one a "Home".
I have renamed my 2 access points the same name, with same SSID and passwords- it worked great for a day, then started locking me out of new channels.
ES FileExplorer lets you ftp into the NP with the LAN---> Remote Manager, so I will be copying the X-TV data over and see if that works.
As a side note- I will be testing the TV Go app found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63688527&postcount=39
I found this Rii that works quite well for the NP in general, and the trackpad seems very good to me, especially double-tap, hold and swipe.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B9996LA/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=
I wanted a 2.4 ghz romo, because I read many comments about BT sleeping issues.
The rest of my setup has this hub-
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OCBXIY8/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=
and this UBS to RJ-45 adapter.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JWXTOIA/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=
All work with the NP
**Edit**
Sytanek's app mod at the link above works excellent on our stock NP with M 6.0.1
Can anyone confirm the apps still work on our NPs as of today?
I am moving and the place I am heading to doesn't have other options but Comcast... this would be great in cutting some of those "rental fees" on additional cable boxes.
I can't get Xfinity TV to work on my Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 with cyan 13.0....just buffers then returns
I need little help here. I installed the app and when i click get started it redirects to dolphin browser and when i log in i get some error message. I can't get this app working.

Help - Showtime Android TV App

Hey all,
I have a shield TV, loving it.
I really want to run the showtime Android TV App, but it's out of my region... I've been looking for the past two days online for an android TV apk, and all I could find were either phone or tablet versions (That obviously don't show up on the Leanback). I've also searched the forums.
The tablet version seams to display fine (when opened through Sideload launcher), but I cannot control it with either the remote or the gamepad.
I was hoping one of you might have a link to an APK that is native for Android TV/Shield TV, that will show up on the Leanback launcher and be usable.
Thanks!!
I ran into the same thing with another app. found that there are bt keyboard handheld devices (ebay) that will do the trick. you should not have to pay more than $20. However, not all worked for me. The alternative is to use a good wired mouse
The official Showtime TV app works with out a mouse . If you still need it I can send you the apk.

In my opinion Peel remote is the best. I am using a JVC 32" tv, only volume and power works at default configuration. But u can troubleshoot the button values. Mine is working at 3rd set of values for the channel change and numbers.
