Wrist actions inconsistent - Moto 360 2015

Just checking in a few days in. Most times it works well, but sometimes it takes a few tries to turn on. Once today I even had to use the button to turn it on.
Just wanted to see if this is common or should I exchange?
Thanks

I haven't had a problem with or waking up but it doesn't seem to work that well scrolling through cards with wrist gestures.

I've been experiencing the same.
It will work perfectly most of the day and then at certain times it just DGAF...
I have mostly experienced this in highly lit areas, office lighting and outside in a lot of sun.

Well yesterday wrist actions quit completely, screen was always on. Had to touch the screen to get it to wake up. Was like that for a few hours and was still doing it when i brought it back to best buy. Exchanged it, new one working way better.

screen acts funny on low power

Do any of yall have problems with the screen acting funny when the power is very low(-10%) , as in it randomly will select things like use are just sporadically touching the screen , it has happened to me a few times.
Once you have it plugged in it is fine again
Version 1.4.0 rooted, no screen protector or case right now.
Yes, others have noted this as well. I've seen it a couple of times when the battery is extremely low.

Smart stay.

I've been using my sgs3 with smart stay enabled and noticed it doesn't seem to be sensing me looking at it.. I wear glasses.. and I'm wondering if this is a limitation ?

I also wear glasses and i find it works fine for me. Remember it doesnt work in low lights.
I Just tested it and it's not working without glasses on either. I see the 'eye' in the notification bar flash after 15 seconds, then it dims the screen, then again 5 seconds later and then screen switches off.
I've had smart stay enabled since day 0 and the phones had a few power cycles/reboots.

Doesn't work for me with my glasses on or off. Must be my face!
doesn't work for me either. not smart
maybe the galaxy just doesn't like your faces?
maybe that's what samsung meant with it being smart. hehe
seriously i have read somewhere it is the face it is tracking not just the eyes.
It even worked when my Dogs were looking at at a few times, and it's annoying because often I put phone off to the side not looking at it and still stays on and wasting battery.
I'm sorry, I didn't realise Samsung required users to look like dogs for this feature to work.
I'm thinking of flashing a custom Rom anyhow.. be interesting to see f it works on another Rom.

Well I do look a bit Ruff.
I just got my Galaxy. Seem to have the same issue, it's not working. Well I think there will be a software update soon enough.
If I consciously blink every so often I'm able to keep the screen on, but if I don't move or blink it turns off - at least that's how it seems to me.
Can't really get it working consistently yet.
I've had my phone since launch and it dimms but never turns off. I wear both glasses and contact lenses.
If the front camera is.nt pointed towards your face it may turn off however which is annoying sonetimes

Hi,
I got smart stay working!
I opened the camera, switched to front facing and positioned the camera so that my face was in the centre of the screen and taking up about 50% of the area.
Now when switching to home screen the little eye kept popping up and going away and the screen stayed on!
Paul
I noticed it works flawless. I have it set too 30 seconds.

Great
I find it very useful and works great, I don't wear glasses and I'v only had it two days but does as expected, I can look at it for 10 minutes and it won't turn off, if i point it away from me it turns off after my timeout.
I found if I closed my eyes and squinted one eye a tiny bit open it still didn't turn off though, but it's not like I'm playing hide and seek with it.

Doesn't work for me
when i watch the screen, the screen didn't turn off, -> ok, this is work
but then i closed my eyes about 2 minutes, then when I opened my eyes, the screen didn't turn off
It works for me. I don't wear glasses though.
Correction, it has problems in landscape mode.

I find it is a mixed bag. It rarely turns off when I am looking at it. But on lots of apps the screen dims meaning I have to touch the screen anyway. This rather defeats the point if you ask me!

Accelerometer issue

Had my watch for 24 hours and have a problem with the turn wrist to wake screen gesture. It works extremely intermittently i.e. maybe 10% of the time. I can make it work with a violent, exaggerated gesture but I look a compete fool doing that It's not really a major issue as it's not much effort to wake by touching, but it's supposed to work. Has anyone else experienced this or have I potentially got a dodgy accelerometer?

I've found I have to turn it so that I'm starring right at it. Then give it a second or so and it will light up.

Does it work every time for you? Definitely doesn't for me.
pretty much. you have to pause a bit once you've lifted it.
Lift and tilt to face you. Works every time for me. Granted, there is a half second delay there but it does work.
Sent from Nexus 5 or 7.
Works perfect here. No delay at all.

I've had similar issues. Trick is to turn your wrist in a bit towards you - maybe a bit more than just facing your face (might need to raise elbow a bit to get the watch facing in more). It's this motion which seems to trigger wake (not actually raising it from waist to in front of chest, just the actually turning motion).

Got it thanks. I wasn't quite turning my wrist far enough.

Super Deep Sleep?

My phone's always-on display will turn off. I can't bring it out of it's 'slumber' anyway other than plugging it in. It instantly pops out of sleep and works fine. I'll lock it and while I can see the always-on display the fingerprint reader will unlock it with no problems. This just started in the past hour for me. I've tried resetting the phone and the issue still pops up, and quickly at that.
Are you using a case or screen protector? Could be something interfering with the ambient light or proximity sensor causing the phone to think it's in your pocket at all times?
Edit:
Actually just tested this. Covered the top sensors and the always on display turned off and fingerprint sensor no longer worked just like you described

You may be right about that. I'm using a lifeproof case and I had just opened it up to clean off the inside (I had shown someone the phone earlier and dog hair found its way to the inside of the case). Funny thing is I turned it completely off and let it sit for a time, as opposed to the restart I did earlier, and it's working alright now. Maybe I just needed to reset it's calibration by resetting it?
Anyone know how to disable this weird dependence on the light sensor? I just don't understand why it would ever disable itself because it's dark.

I read this is a feature of the phone. The always on will turn off in your pocket or in a darkened room. Nice idea since you do not need to be using the juice then. You can test this in a dimmly lit room by cupping your hands over the display to block the light.

Sure, but it won't turn on even when I press the back button. Pretty obnoxious when I'm sitting in a blacked out room and I have to hold it up to the computer screen to activate it.
Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't read the thread carefully. That sucks. I'm in a dark room now watching video. The display turned off, I heard a notification, when I picked up the phone it came on. I do not like that that the led notifications stop. I'm not sure what happens to sound notifications when the always on goes off. I prefer to set the phone silent until a certain time in the AM and then use a sound profile to get notifications and a low volume.

I would return it for another or send it in on warranty.

I'm thinking it was the Lifeproof case I have on it. It all worked fine for a week then when I tested the case for waterproof it failed (the phone wasn't in it). I sent for another one and it seems to be working alright now. Maybe it had something to do with the inside of my case getting wet? I don't know.
Great! Enjoy your phone g why are we still calling these things phone?). I like the G5. Now that we have torur I am hoping their for some nice tweaks.
I've had this happen too and it made my life proof case useless because I couldn't use my phone with it on it I still have the issue once in a while but not nearly as often anymore

Delayed Wake?

Hey guys! Just got my g5 last week and have so far been loving it- fastest Android phone I've used, and a huge improvement over its horribly buggy predecessor. That being said....
I've noticed a crazy unlock delay, but only when it's right after locking it (sometimes I shut off my screen and am like "Oh wait! I totally forgot to do X). When I go to turn the screen on, it stays black for awhile, and then shows an unresponsive screen for second or so before unlocking.
Sometimes it's just an extra second, other times a good 5-10 seconds. However, if I lock the phone and leave it alone for even 20-30 seconds, the screen turns on immediately. Has anybody else run into this? Is this normal?

I use the tap to wake feature a lot and sometimes when I tap it it doesn't do anything and I end up tapping it again and sometimes again after that. On my note 4 I used the wake lock app on it because Samsungs are known for slow wake and I'm using that app now too. It's in the play store. Now the tap to wake never fails. Granted your phone never sleeps but I like it better that way and it seems more responsive too. Could be placebo but I think I actually get better battery life with it because when you wake your phone out of deep sleep all the components are firing back up whereas here everything is always ready. Hope that helps.

Hmm thanks for the tip I'll give it a shot! I guess I figured with the always-on display enabled that it should be able to wake pretty quickly? I do hibernate my apps with Greenify so maybe that's affecting it. But I only get like 3 hours of screen on time even when hibernating my apps.

You're welcome. Yeah with that app I just set it to partial wake lock and I have no issues with it and my phone works great. Good luck!

Sweet. Took the plunge and went for a factory reset, and it completely solved the issue. Im thinking it was Verizon's security update they pushed to my phone the night that I was setting the thing up. SO relieved
Oh wow. Made my battery life amazing too. I unplugged for 5 hours and still only at 86%
Well that's great. Waiting for sprint to drop their update and I'll probably do the same.
