Anyone having issues with pdaNET+ USB Tether? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been using USB tether with pdaNET+ forever, worked flawlessly on my G3. Its not working on the V10, it says connected with internet access but it can't resolve the Google DNS. Once I get root I can go back to WiFi Tether Router, but in the mean time would be great to get this working. Any ideas? I've uninstalled from laptop and phone and reinstalled, but nada. Thanks.

Did you set USB debugging and USB mode to ptp not mtp
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk

Yeah, that's the first thing I did. The USB Debugging confirmation screen popped up and I clicked allow. Says its connected just fine, but no internet.

Did you change USB mode to ptp and not map?

Mtp
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk

I did. I changed my APN to incorporate IP4/6 so I'll test it when I can. In the mean time, I bought easy tether and it works just fine. I'll test with pdaNET+ soon. Same thing happened on my G4 when I had that phone, but I went back to the G3 and that worked fine. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah for the LG G4 you have to change it to PTP also, MTP for some reason just doesnt work with FoxFi/PDANet

[Q] VZW Mobile Hotspot Error

Hey there, two nights ago I contacted VZW and turned on my Mobile Hotspot service. My Rezound is rooted, but nothing beyond that. I tried to get it to connect to my Xoom, but the service on my phone wouldn't start. I did a battery pull, turned off WiFi and Bluetooth and nothing works. The service appears to start, but then the tick box unchecks itself and on the main network page is says "error". I've called VZW and they don't seem to know what the problem is. Is anyone who else who has recently rooted and is using the Hotspot having the same problem? Heck even if you haven't does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the problem? I've searched the forums and the web and have found numerous threads with Hotspot errors, but none are similar to the one I am having. Thanks.
I do not know how to fix the built in hotspot.... BUT if you're rooted, why on earth would you actually pay Verizon for the hotspot feature when you can use Wifi Tether for Root just fine for free??

its still worth paying because the rezound only broadcast in ad-hoc mode and lots of devices wont see your phone or even connect because of that...my verizon hotspot connects perfectly to my wii and when i use a tether application( used a variety of apps from market) they will see but wont connect because the wii doesnt support ad-hoc..so in summary keep your verizon hotspot.
also i have had problems with the hotspot after maybe an hour or less the data throughput will stop and the only way for it to function is for a restart of the phone..VZW and HTC say its a software bug and "should" be fixed in ICS i presume..i think your problem is either your phone or the kernel..have you flashed any kernels?? if not then i would suggest you run a RUU and see if that fixes things and if it doesnt i would get a replacement..Hope i helped.
I paid out of desperation truthfully. I tried four versions of Wireless Tether and none of them worked. I also didn't want to pay my hotels $12 a night internet fee so it was a cheaper option for my week away from home. I tried some market apps with no luck too. Maybe the RUU is the way to go. It did work when I first got it, must've been a free period or something. Haven't tried it since til after I rooted. But I've not modified it in any way other than root.
I use the wifi-tether just fine,
I noticed when I had originally disabled the TetheringGuard apk it didn't startup right at all (would flicker, as you said),
I reenabled the tetheringguard that came on the phone and it worked great.
both wifi' and usb tethered.
good luck!
OK, I tried OpenGarden again and sort of got it to work. I can connect my work phone to it fine, but not my Xoom or laptop. I still cannot get Mobile Hotspots to work which is OK if I can figure out OpenGarden with my other devices. Any advice? By the way, hanks for the help so far.
Well, some more searching I found I needed the WPA supplicant file for my Xoom. Now that works too. Now if I can just get the laptop to be able to obtain an IP address I'll be set.

If it's a work laptop it might require wireless encryption which if I remember correctly doesn't work on the Rezound yet. Try USB tethering for that. Barnacle can do both. On a similar not, if you're using the latest and greatest wifi tether, check mss clamping and routing fix and it should work on the Rezound...just was using mine to my Ubuntu laptop this morning.
I DELETED TetheringGuard.apk and use Wifi Tether just fine on my phone. Thats really weird.. perhaps it wasn't properly frozen or something?
I use "Routing Fix" to make it work. "MSS Clamping" seems to have no affect one way or the other. Does anybody know what mss clamping means?

I wan't able to get my laptop to get an IP address from the phone either until I used the "Routing Fix" option in Wifi Tether for Root.
I feel like an idiot but everyone keeps mentioning this mms clamping and routing fix in WiFi tether. Two questions....1 exactly what app is this, and where do I find these settings. I and running ineffabilis v1.0 and it has wireless tether. I looked in barnacle and opengarden for these settings and nada...any help would be appreciated.

I don't know that MSS Clamping is the fix so much as the routing fix is. MSS Clamping fix I believe refers to MTU Discovery issues. I won't get into it but suffice it to say that checking the box is never a bad idea.

Wifi tether which is the same app(probably different version). Wifi tether version 2.0.7 just works. Anything beyond that need the aforementioned "fixes" enabled.

Grab a file explorer (ES, Root, Astro) and check that tetheringguard.apk is still sitting in /system/app. That symptom is typical of when tetheringguard is disabled or removed.
I don't know what those settings are, but I know where they are. They are not in those two applications that you mentioned. They are settings in the Wireless Tether application for android. Google Wireless Tether for Android and its the top link. The explanation forbwhay those two settings are may be there as well.

Share wifi connection android to laptop ??? !!!

Hi All,
I have a old laptop which is not supporting wifi, I am using network cable to connecting internet on the laptop. also I am using wifi modem on my home to share internet to computer and my android mobile.
My question is, can i able to use my android mobile as data card to share wifi connection to my old laptop ???
Thanks,
didnt get you, first you said that your laptop doesnt support Wifi
and again you're saying that u want to share your phone's net via wifi hotspot?
be more specific
Whilst I've never tried to use it the Neo supports USB tethering so yes sharing a connection from phone to the PC through USB should definitely be possible.

I don't think a WiFi router, which you have, will can act as a WiFi receptor, So that is quite hopeless.. But you can still use USB tethering to just connect your phone via USB and get connected to the Internet.
[ICS]
go to Settings>More...>Tethering & portable hotspot> USB tethering

Tethering means that you can use ONLY TO SHARE internet from Android to PC,it's not working to share Internet from PC to Android. (that is called reverse tethering).

Plug it into the usb.......
It must have one of them right?
Sent from my MT11i using Tapatalk
It works exactly like a Bluetooth adapter, insert the bluetooth adapter into usb port, and you have bluetooth on your pc. With wi-fi adapter it's the same thing, insert it in usb port and you'll have wi-fi capabilities (both ways: phone-pc and pc-phone).I'm currently using an usb adapter to share internet from pc to phone.
i think i get what hes asking
is it possable to use the wifi from the phone over usb so not useing data from mobile network
You mean u want to use ur phone as a wifi adapter? There is an app called PdaNet for that.
New version:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pn.helper&hl=en
Old version:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pdanet&feature=related_apps#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwOSwiY29tLnBkYW5ldCJd(not recommended)
I have been trying to do the same thing but unsuccessfully.
Basically my phone is connected to the internet through wifi, and I want to share this via bluetooth.
The problem seems to be that with android, tethering can only share your 3g/4g but not wifi.
Apparently apps such as pdanet, foxfi, can solve this, but i havent been able to get it to work =(

Tether not broadcasting

On rooted but stock Verizon. Anyone else having trouble getting either foxfi or wireless tether to broadcast? Both programs will say tethering but my ipad nor my prime will find the wifi. Have done the suggested settings for wireless tether without luck. Thanks

Not sure what settings were suggested as i didnt read that thread but did u try changing device profile to galaxy nexus? srry if that was mentioned
I tried both Nexus and Generic ICS. Once in awhile the Prime will see it, then the phone will shut down the tether
I picked the Samsung Galaxy S2 and is working for the Sprint GS3. Just a heads up.
me too, I'm having the same problem.
Trying to get Wireless Tether to work, says there's errors, in the log it says,
Setting ad-hoc mode - Failed
Activating Encryption (wpa_supplicant) - Failed
Anyone know how to get Wireless Tether to work?

UPDATE: I downloaded Wireless Tether 3.2 http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...etail?name=wifi_tether_v3_2-pre1.apk&can=2&q=
Changed the profile to "Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE" and now the Wireless Tether works, I'm able to tether my iPad to it.

There is usually a tethering option....
What rom are you on( Android version if you're stock )....
And pdanet will work on tablets... I use it on my tablet for fast file transfer... but I've never tried tethering.. but it should work...
If you can't find a tethering option... in settings and you're stock unrooted... I'm not sure what the next move is..
But I'll look around... might be later as I'm at work...

Yup on stock android 4.1.2 and unrooted.
Pdanet keeps saying please connect your phone to the computer but it is already connected and not getting detected by PdaNet. I am going in 3 hours so not much time left.

I meant for you to try with pdanet... sometimes debugging needs to be on... sometimes off... I don't know why different roms act this way.. but they do...
If that doesn't work for ya... try an app from the playstore for unrooted users.... foxfi...I think has a version for unrooted users... I'm not sure as I've been rooted and running custom roms for quite a while.. :fingers-crossed:

Same issue! Installed Remix, rooted it manually, everything seemed to be perfect until I discovered I had no way of connecting to the Internet. It's a no-go!
There's a related thread on reddit(r/RemixOS/comments/49ahbx/how_to_connect_my_4g_lte_modem_to_remix_pc_rooted) that I'm following, not much there though. Someone on there recommended to tether Wifi, but I can't imagine running a second machine to do as a hotspot. That's just stupid and a waste of energy and not how things should be.
It's frustrating!:crying:
What's your dongle? XD Mine is the "famous" E3372/4G & I am with an Asian carrier.

There's a widget called PPP2 that works fine on many android devices but it isn't working on Remix. I submitted a post to the PPP2 forum:

Hi,
Firstly ,i have 2 x mini wi fi dongles .
they have usb options ( Huawei E5520 and a Vodafone lte .
Both connect to my laptop ( buildt in wifi ) No issues overall .
Also i can use my phone Note5 modem 3G/4G as a wifi hotspot and connect to laptop (Remix os ) .No issues ,works fine .This i did before and after rooting .
Maybe an option ?
good luck
I don't know if my windows phone supports usb tethering but I'll have a look. Cheers!

The dev of PPP2 responded to my post from yesterday. Seems like PPP widget won't work with my dongle(E3372) and many others which do not support PPP. Ugh!
quote:
"This is a problem of the modems used, not of the OS.
The modems mentioned do not provide a PPP port, so they don't work with PPP Widget 2."
If PPP won't work, then I don't know... If you find a way, please share. Until then, Remix is pretty much useless.
Please if anyone is having a. Solution please tell...
I am using tp link to connect to WiFi but wifi not working.. Please anyone help me.. I want it to verify Gameloft games.... I use Ethernet now.. Need WiFi connection to play Gameloft game on the first run.. Please help me.. At least tell me a workaround to fake WiFi connectivity over Ethernet...
Unplug your dongle and plug it back in, then reboot. Its worked for me a couple times.
I tried a different dongle and it worked fine.
