Any news from Cyanogenmod? - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is just a discussion opener for Cyanogenmod related questions..
Is there any word around developers or anyone else where CM devs are with their release for our beauties?
Not to push down any other groups but I've the CM most suitable for my use.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

I'm considering buying this device. Is there any CyanogenMod coming soon or I should buy the predecessor Z3 compact?

The Z3C has CyanogenMod, but the camera has a fisheye problem and all pictures are horribly distorted.

I guess I'm going to pass on the cyanogen. hope to see it later on z5c.

Not a good bye, maybe a "see you soon" (explanation)

Well, this day should come soon or later.
I had a chance for trading my Xperia Ray for a phone with similar specifications, and I did.
I own now a LG Optimus Black (white version). If you guys check the specs of both phones you'll note that they're very similar, with only few differences. I miss the great quality of the camera, Optimus camera is crappy. But what I like most of this phone is the bigger screen and the unlocked bootloader, thanks to it I could install and taste (at last) Jelly Bean. Everything is working in a CM10 based ROM, the performance is very good, but the battery drain is a little bit faster than ICS, I guess this is caused by project butter.
That's why I don't understand why SONY won't give JB to our 2011 Xperias. I just can't believe that custom ROMs built by the community and devs are so good enough to use them daily, but SONY engineers can't (or don't want) to give Android 4.1 to Arc, Neo, Ray, etc. That has disappointed me a lot and it was one of the reasons to take the decision of trading my phone.
However, I still want to give a chance to SONY because, after all, I'm a fan and I love their devices (if you ask me, what I really like of this LG I own now is the unlocked bootloader and the screen, the physical design is ugly, so "iphoned"), so I'm waiting for CES this january 7th and see what they have to offer. I hope they don't disappoint us, and now SONY have to work harder since a new strong competitor is on his way: Ubuntu Phone. It really looks interesting, plus, I'm a Linux fan since 2004 and I've seen how this great system has evolved, until the point of being almost ready for smartphones. But I also love Android, so, we'll see.
Anyway guys, I can't say definitely "bye", I'm sure we'll meet again in some point, of course, If I decide to get another Xperia and if you also do and keep developing for these devices. For now I want to thank great developers such JJ doctor, MrTapa, arcatarc, xparanoidx, and everyone else (sorry if I don't mention all of you) for rescuing me of being stuck in Android 2.3.4 =P I learned a lot while I had my Ray and I was happy using 4.0.4 ROMs, your work is awesome and this community is just great.
So, see you later!
PS: pending projects (such banners and wallpapers) will be accomplished in sometime of the current year. Sorry about that, my free time is smaller now.
PS2: I post this here because most of the time I was in this section. But if moderators consider it's necesary to move it, OK.

[Q] Best phones that is 'fully supported' by CM

Good day all
I used to have a Captivate (Galaxy SI) then the Note I. Once I purchase a device, I instantly flash a CM rom. It's been a year of suffer with the not-fully-supported Note. Frequent reboots, Bluetooth and UI glitches, heat and charging problems. It's easier to live with theses issues instead of living with TouchWiz.
Long story short, I'm planning to purchase a new device. What do you think the best high-end device (other than f#$%ing Samsung) in terms of CM support.
I know, I know that the Nexuses are best bets ! But I wanna explorer other options (screen size, SD, resolution, camera, etc) :victory:
I've seen people give appraisals on Oppo Find 5.
You precious advices and suggestions brothers.

CM is developed as free and open source software based on the official releases of Android by Google, with added original and third-party code.
in conclusion phones like Nexus will always have a CM support.
Also visit HERE to see a list of supported devices.
Gens, I fully understand your inputs. For instance, my Note, which has been receiving its share of the nightlies and RCs. So far, I'm still getting heat problems, lags, bluetooth connectivity issues, battery drains.
I'm not looking for supported device. I'm trying to find almost(fully) supported high-end device. So far, I found that my best bet could be
1-Oppo Find 5
2-Xperia Z
3-Qualacomm-based Galaxy devices ?
What do you think the best of them could be ?

[Q] Z Ultra Google Play Edition - Where's that rom?

https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=sony_z_ultra
So now there's a Z Ultra Google Play Edition with pure android 4.4.
How do we get that rom?
Brilliant! now to just wait for someone to buy it.
It´s a huge step forward for Sony and the community. Looking forward to see some nice ROMs!
I can't decide which to order. Will any of the Sony stuff be on the Google Play edition? "bravia engine" and the sort

X-Reality for Mobile should be available as long as you don't unlock the phone. And as far as I know it'll only be active for hardware accelerated video, not for photos.
Wow, did not see that coming!! This ROCKS. :good: Can't wait to get this rom on my phone.

Do you think the Playstation Mobile app will still come on the device? If it doesn't, do you think Sony would give some way to install like for that one HTC device? Hmm. Likewise for the Walkman app.
Shít only avalaible in the USA
Google should give us europeans some love too
Sent from my Xperia Z-back to stock
Other play editions are vanilla android, I think its a fair assumption this will be too - I doubt Sony will roll out both 4.3 and 4.4, with sony apps/engines at the same time. Pure Vanilla 4.4 or Sony 4.3 most likely the plan (in my humble opinion)
Stil great news for XZU 4.4 drivers, libs etc

Great question, I actually have both versions on the way. Gonna play with both of em and decide which one I want. If I can't use the the dual shock 3 natively I might go with the Sony version.

Guys brace yourselves for the influx of custom roms
you could very easily convert the HTC One from the Sense version to a GPE one, once the ROM is out, anyone will be able to move theirs to the GPE version!
This is the best news! Yet one more positive point about my decision to get the ultra over the note 3!
This is great news! My Ultra LTE C6806 from the Sony Store is on the Fedex truck for delivery today. I really wanted as-close-to-ASOP phablet as I could get, and the Ultra fit the bill. Hopefully I will be able to turn this into a Google Edition device!
Better start researching how to root this baby!
I'm so excited but this is soooo weird... I thought this massive massive phone was a niche device. Why didnt they do the Z1? I guess I understand why though, they already have the N5, the S4 And the ONE, so instead of adding another 5 inch google play phone, or a slightly larger note 3, they figure why not go with the biggest.
I'm not complaining it just seems so random.
So how does this help us? and It won't really be helping for a few weeks/ months no?
I like I want the gpe rom.

It will help us as soon as Google releases the factory images. When? It could happen an hour from now or a week. We don't know.

It's as easy as walking (god, i hope you're not in a wheelchair). We just need Google to release the factory images, which can take everything between now and a week or so. We don't know.

Lollipop for Xperia Z Ultra confirmed

According to this website, http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2014/10...d-5-0-lollipop-to-the-entire-xperia-z-series/
Android 5.0 (Lollipop) will be available for the Xperia Z Ultra. Just saying and clearing up any doubts in the community

Agreed! Not to disrespect anyone, but I have been a bit disappointed in the lack of development on the GPe. Maybe this will encourage developers to be more active - heck, might even bring some new users on board. Seeing how the Nexus 6 is priced, not to mention the Expansys deal still going - I can see having Lollipop confirmed as being enough to bring a few more developers on board over here. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking... In any case, I can't wait to play with the new desert, even if I'm running it stock.

[Question] Are there any upcoming ROMs that will run Marshmallow?

OK, since the recent announcement from OnePlus we will have to wait a bit until Marshmallow update finally hits our OnePlus X devices.
The subforum for Android development for X seems to be very quiet and I'm simply just wondering if there is any new ROM in the making.

Yes.
Don't take this the wrong way but why?
I am trialing the Sony Z3 Compact with its official Marshmallow concept. I have a Nexus 9 running MM.
The only real advantage of MM is the battery saving features.
Other than that after a few months with the OP2 and now a week with OPx I find Oxygen a rather pleasing operating system with many distinct advantages over Lollipop.
Add to that the fact that I use Nova, and hey presto, I have a phone that with careful camera use, is a delight to use.

Why? Because I want the latest Android version on my brand new phone. I would buy a nexus phone but they are ugly as hell and the OnePlus X is no doubt the sexiest Android phone to date!
I want a phone with M but chose a phone that wouldn't get it for a couple of months, so thats where this thread came to life.

Doze is basically the biggest reason I want M. OnePlus X's battery haven't been bad or anything yet, though.
Fair comment, I guess that for the fist time in a while, I am rather content with a device.

Same here. The phone overall is very nice. Everyone who have seen/held it have said something like 'Woah, thats a nice phone!'.
