Record in Ultra HD? - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know its not officially supported, but do you think it will be possible to do it somehow with root?
Thanks

i think its possible
it has powerfull 801 snapdragon processor and 13 mp capable camera which is exactly the same as 1+1... so it might be possible...
lets give some time to release world wide and some times to dev's. hope they will surely make it possible.

Yeah for sure 4k recording would be nice, but for the moment i wish there will be a way to record FHD @60fps, because for now it's 30 fps and that's kinda annoying

[Q] Any way/app to get 60fps+ video recording on ZU?

My previous phone was an iPhone, which i now consider inferior to my ZU, although I haven't seen a way to get over 30fps on video recording on the ZU, yet the iPhone can do just that. Is there any way at all to get at least 60fps recording on it?
I suppose I should add the fact that I would be willing to flash different ROMs, Kernels etc to achieve this

4k 60fps & Slo-Mo Recording ?

Hello everyone, I bought the pocophone, waiting for it to arrive, but one thing I saw on the spec sheet I didn't like so much was that 4k recording was 30fps - only. I then found this article from geeksultd.com saying that slo-mo also isn't an option, but that the head of POCO said they would implement it if they get enough interest from the community.
That's almost a "killer feature" for me, so Id like to know if something like GCam will work or if it has to be implemented as a low-level thing.
Essentially, my question is where do you sign up, Because it's always better to have it in the native app...
"The community" Is that here, or do you have to go on the official Xiaomi forums?
Lastly, I'm a noob here, so if I didn't post right, please tell me!

Well that's great but I've still got questions :
1. Is there no option for [email protected]?
and
2. Were should I go to ask for [email protected]?
4k Being the most important feature to me.

4k 60fps is not availble or enabled right now and so if we can make enough fuss about it Devs may enable it future OTA but you can try 3rd party camera apps like OpenCamera and see if you shoot 4k 60fps
but i did check my phone now for 480fps and i don't find it camera app, sorry i took the info from their website

Why I am not able to record 24 FPS Videos in POCO F1?.

Poco F1 has the full legacy on Camera2 API and It is powered by SD845 with good sensors. But I am not able to record video in 24 FPS in this mobile by any third application like Open Camera, Hedge Camera. I am bit disappointed now and Hoping it will be available in the next software update.
Or u on miui or custom rom?

Why though?
24p is considered exotic, and has complications when converting to standard frame-rates for playback (PAL or NTSC). So it probably won't ever arrive.
What's wrong with 30p?
No, 24 FPS gives you Cinematic footage which is very useful when you shoot the film

Even iPhone XS/iPhone XS max have been introduced with 24 fps option. LG mobile/ Sony mobile have the possibility of this.
Poco F1 has the potential to do it since It is powered by SD 845.

OK, so it's a style/aesthetic thing rather than a technical thing.
Oh it's definitely capable of it, any modern Android smartphone is - even budget ones can record 1080p30 and 24p is less intensive so that's not a problem for any mainstream phone SoC.
The camera driver is a different story though. Might be do-able in config files somewhere in vendor or something. If it's not then it might not be possible unless the real OEM (not Xiaomi, but whoever makes the camera and the driver) does it - but if that's the case then it may not ever happen because Xiaomi could need to renegotiate their OEM contract (which can cost a lot of money) and that's not really something Xiaomi or any budget ODM is known for.
Have you tried filmic Pro? 24fps works perfectly for me.

Since Film pro lite is not available, I hesitate to buy it. But if you are sure that 24 fps is recorded smoothly. I may try it.
Hope you are not changing the shutter speed to get 24 fps video.
I actually just noticed that indeed shutter speed is changed in the increments of 24 so it does reduce the shutter speed to 24.
Let me know if there's anything else you'd want me to check for you.
Also slow motion videoes don't seem to work on filmic.

Thanks for your quick turnaround.
Yes, In the open camera app, if the shutter speed is set at 1/24s, the output will be 24fps. But not for other shutter speed. Even I am not sure, this is the correct way to record 24 fps video.
But I looked your three images, It seems that Filmic pro records video in 24 fps in all shutter speed, - 1/24,1/48, am I right?.
Yes it does film on all the increment frame rates 48, 96, etc
Edit: meant shutter speeds

Over 4k video recording with modified Open Camera

Sorry if I'm posting this to the wrong place, but I just found out that the A8 can actually shoot video at the same resolution as pictures. I don't know if this has any side effects, but so far it does work!
OpenCamera actually removes resolutions above a certain level because a bug on the Nexus 6, but I built a custom version for the A8 (and other devices as well) that disables this feature.
I also enabled using the flash while using manual ISO and exposure, since it's also disabled because of a bug that doesn't exist on the A8.
Open Camera is not created by me, the official website for it is here!
I just modified it to do the stuff above.
So, steps to record in over 4k resolution:
Download and install the modified Open Camera attached (delete old one if installed)
Start the app and go to settings.
Enable Camera 2 API
Set the video resolution to whatever you want!
Voilla, you have a 4k capable phone camera!
Tested on AOSPExtended 6.5 on pie vendor, and HavocOS 2.7 on oreo vendor.
If for some reason this was already known then sorry, I didn't find anything regarding this.
Note: The apk is an unsigned, debug apk.
Source included in zip (because of license). It's pretty much just a few lines commented out, so I didn't bother using git.
EDIT:
IMPORTANT
As I found out (thanks tho Athaxis and Samsungoogle for bringing it up!) this "mod" doesn't properly work on OneUI based roms!
It does do something to an extent, but anything above 3264x2448 doesn't work. This is the highest you can go on OneUI.
Also (thanks to Samsungoogle for noticing this, again!) apparently the OneUI Samsung Gallery/Video viewer can't play videos created this way! You can use other video players though!
I don't know if it works on older Samsung ROMs or not, but it did work on treble, specifically AOSPExtended 6.5.
There I was able to use the full 16MP (4608x3456) resolution for videos!
Please let me know what ROM this mod works on!
Only one word: FENOMENALE (A8 2018)
Amazing job! Though I'm getting "failed to record" video at 4k resolution.
Wow this is great- however when I try to record at the hishest few resolutions, it says cannot record. It does at the 7.99mp one though. It's still much better than 1080p. Also this seems to be a Samsung issue but the Samsung gallery can't view it while Google photos can.

Thanks, and now that I tried it with an OneUI based ROM, I realized, it doesn't work with it, only the 7.99mp one. If you want even higher resolution recordings, it works better with treble gsis (at least I was able to record at the full resolution of the camera on AOSPExtended 6.5 GSI).
Thanks for the feedback tho, I wouldn't have realized this without you!
I'm adding this to the main thing.

I think it's locked at 30fps from the system or something as we don't have slo mo (which uses like 240fps) while other devices with same camera module and worse CPU (A40, A30) have it. It would be cool if there is a way to enable 60+FPS video thoush
I really hate this marketing strategy of companies limiting video capacity based on whatever parameters they use
Any phone released today has the processing power for recording 4K30 or [email protected], the Note 3 with the Ancient outdated Snapdragon 800 had it, why can't we?? Oh because we aren't using the top of the line S or Note... At least we can force 4K 30, but why not 60FPS? seems complete bs to me
Btw the Moto G6 has 60fps mode and the Moto G7 has both 4K30 and 1080/60, phones that are well behind the price level of most Samsung upper-tier A-series models

Yeah, I agree. Why should I 'upgrade' to an A40 as an example for 240fps slo motion video (doesn't have 60fps but I think that can be forced by a mod) when it's a downgrade in everything else. Same with software updates, instead of seeing specs the android companies just see what os it launched with and give it 2 or 3 more updates - for example the note Fe gets pie while s7 doesn't with same specs.
To me it's just one of Samsung's ways to get people to buy flagships as midrange devices are getting very good anyway when it comes to power.
For another example the ancient and slow iPhone 6 with 1gb ram can do 1080p 60 and 720 at 240fps. That is on the level of budget phone CPU power now, and yet it can do this?

Exactly, the Galaxy A8 is really a small step behind the S8 honestly, yeah it has some advantages but sometimes it just doesn't justify the price for most people
Also some weird things like the A3 2017 having Type C already but later the Galaxy A6 and A7 having MicroUSB, ?????????????

Yeah I really hope next year the a51 is the small one as that would have good specs. If they brought back metal body (glass not necessary) and ip68 it would be perfect upgrade from the A8. Also 1080p60 and 4k obviously

Hi bro, and guys, anyone got any solution for our A8 camera? I think a very good smartphone, but the camera could be better, I miss 60fps, is there any possible solution to this? I saw some posts here on xda about other devices that did not have 60fps and use Exynos, but I do not understand anything to develop.
Please, let's try saving this smartphone.
Here is the link from some of the posts I found.
sorry for my bad english.

Yeah, its pretty clear Samsung's disabled it though as the A7 2018 gets it. I mean they aren't even giving us android 10 they hate this phone for some reason, just want us to upgrade to the A71 or something. Although it could be because of the fact this phone came with only 32gb storage (still regret that 64gb wasn't in my country) which would mean 60fps video would use a lot of that storage quickly

Camera mod for A71? 4k 60fps? shutter speed 30s? high bitrate? ISO 10k?

Would any developer be interested in creating a mod to release extra camera functionality?
This is a device with a very competent photographic set with a good chipset. In addition to already having the camera 2 api level 3 enabled. In the same way that mods were developed for the flagships of previous generations like the Galaxy S7, S8 and Note 8, which enable features such as 4K 60FPS, higher bitrates for videos, ISO sensitivity greater than 800, and shutter speeds up to 90s. Together with GCAM, these extra features would enable excellent results for astrophotography. The A71 is receiving the OneUi 2.1 which comes with much more complete photographic features, but which are still lower than the flagships, such as ISO maximum 800, instead of 3200, and shutter speed up to 10s, instead of 30s . This is already good, but for some situations it is still insufficient. Using L Camera, an application for Nexus, I was able to increase the ISO to up to 10,000. Remembering that this is the limit of the application, not the hardware. This shows that the software is severely limiting the capacity of the hardware. And considering that the A71 has more powerful hardware than some flagships from previous generations, I believe it deserves a mod to unlock its full potential.
I would very much second that!
But what I see is that simple things are locked for 3rd party apps like 24 fps is laggy, there's no 60 or more fps available in 1080p. Not to mention that other lenses are not available at all. All checked with filmic pro and open camera.
If only the camera was unlocked this phone would be perfect.
Where do you find devs for that? Maybe we should ask those devs who prepared mods for other phones?

Good to know that there are others who support this idea.
On Google Playstore, the developer I found is Sityware.
http://www.sityware.com
[email protected]
I've already sent him an email, but I haven't received any response.
Here all camera mods from this developer:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Sityware
There is also the "zeroprobe", responsible for the "Zero Camera Mod". I don't know if it's the same developer as the playstore, because the mod interface is the same in both cases.
Profile of "zeroprobe" on XDA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2516635
There is a Telegram group exclusive to Zero Camera Mod users: https://t.me/joinchat/GgDoVELya0-3xmyGFuPnow

I'll see if I can get in touch with that developer. It would be nice if everyone interested in this mod also got in touch with them. It would increase the chances of getting some camera mod for that device.
After a quick search, it seems that the Snapdragon 730 does not support 4k 60FPS video. Which is a shame, as the main sensor of the Galaxy A71, Samsung Bright S5KGW1, supports videos up to 8k 24fps. But that also does not prevent other extremely useful camera features from being unlocked.
I'd love to see A71 Camera mod's as well.
Would be superb to use cameras to full potential
Is there a way to enable and disable shutter sound without silent mode?
