Booting into Recovery? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've installed TWRP, root, and after tweaking with some DPI settings ended up with a constant System UI Force Close.
I change the DPI back to 640, which removed the System UI Force Closes, but the scaling of some things was horrible off. I assumed I would start from scratch again and I performed a factory reset via TWRP, and upon a reboot there are still constant System UI Force Closes. I can't progress to turn ADB back on, and I can't get the system to boot into recovery or bootloader using any power+vol-up or power+vol-down combinations I can find.
Any luck booting into bootloader or recovery from being powered off?
I got it to go once, with USB cable plugged in and pressing Power+VolDown, but can't get it to happen again.

I did a hard reset earlier. Hold volume down, then power(holding both), when lg logo appears release power button inky for 1 second, then press it again (while holding volume down) and it will let you do a factory reset. I restored my twrp image after that, hth.

You are a life saver, was going nuts here trying to figure out how to start again.
Is there a different way to get into fastboot from power off?

From what I've read, I think it's the same process, but with volume up. Not certain as I've yet to try it.

Actually, all you have to do is from Powered off, hold down the volume key and plug into micro usb already plugged into your pc.

Powered off? That's very interesting. I know when I was messing around I did get into the bootloader unintentionally, I just didn't know what I did.

Just saved my ass. Also ran into big problems trying to change the DPI... ended up trying to fastboot flash the stock system.img which only did a tiny partial flash leaving me screwed. Phone was sitting at LG boot screen - thought I was a goner. Did the micro USB plug + volume down while off and got into fastboot which got me back into recovery...

If you are booting to LG, no need to worry, device can be saved. I've only bricked one device that was able to boot up, and there was a fix for it eventually.

MY DROID X2 IS DEAD(i think). well that's dandy
I ROOTED MY PHONE 2 days ago for bloatfreezer.
(i froze safe stuff like my Verizon and whatnot)
problem = IT'S ROOTED AND UNABLE TO TURN ON - > i know this sometimes voids warranty
{the green light comes on when charging, i just literally can't turn the phone on}
can i really just return it like this and demand a new one, -or if there's a fix-?
I'm extremely grateful to any advice/knowledge on what to do
Try powering up while holding the volume down button. Try it with the charger plugged in and without. If Fastboot appears at the top keep pressing volume down until you get to android recovery and press volume up to select it and try factory resetting. If it works you'll lose your data but at least you'll have a phone.

Have you tried to SBF your phone? You might still be able to get it to connect to RSD.

Whole post doesn't make alot of sense you tried to install gingerbread from your computer?

dead5hea i figured that wouldn't work at first, as when i plugged it into the charger it kept rebooting to the eye and then freezing even when i had the volume button down, but on vaguely the 20'th attempt it responded to it, i did a recovery and now everything is dandy *excluding the apps are gone but at least the contacts are on gmail*. I wondered if it was out of juice but it was 70% on recovery so who knows, i hope it doesn't happen again.
thanks bud =)
-not to be rude(kinda is anyway) thanks for nothing lancer, take a guess before a bump, i put the top in green and then the problem in caps to express that it was extra detail.

It's probably bricked. Did you charge it before flashing?
If you're with battery low message in ap fastboot the you'll need a factory cable wich you can build or buy it over the web
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk 2
Did you have full battery?
LOL guess Im slow at responding. Also did you think about using Matts utility? Works great for alot of what needs to be done.

Phone so sharp, I sliced myself.
+1 on the cable, but this works too.
Press and hold power and volume down until the screen blinks. Release the buttons and quickly press all three buttons (power, vol up and vol down).
When the bootloader menu pops up, plug in the charger.
Use the volume down button to scroll to the SBF option and use volume up to select it.
Press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds and release it. This will put your phone in the "powered down/charging" mode.
Wait until the battery charges all the way then try again.
I had to try this three times before it worked, so don't give up on the first failure.

Do you backed up to defaul usb cable?
Turn it off, plug regular charger and go razr default boot menu.
Sekect BP Tools. It should show moto logo and start charging. Let it go 'till fully charged.
You're almost there.
There are alternate procedure to follow in case this don't work.

[Q] Stuck in boot loop. Cannot access recovery or bootloader

Howdy,
I'm stuck in a boot loop, searching the forum for a similar problem has yielded no result applicable to my situation.
I'm running CM10 and using TWRP (latest I think) and I'm S-OFF. Ive been running cm10 for about a month and have had no problems. This morning I woke up and checked my emails and texts then put my phone in my pocket. When I took it out about an hour later, the power button wouldn't wake my screen but it would light up the capacitive buttons. To try to fix, I did a hard reset (power button 10+ seconds) and now my phone won't boot or show anything on the screen, it just vibrates over and over.(about 10 seconds between vibrations) I also am unable to do another hard reset (the buttons wont's flash or anything). I've tried to get into bootloader and recovery and I can't get into either.
Also, I plugged it into my computer, and the charging light isn't on. According to om4's thread, I think I might have a corrupt kernel? But i don't know how that would be possible since I haven't flashed anything new for a month or so and I havent had any problems previously.
I'm familiar with adb and fastboot. But since I can't hard reset again, i'm not sure how to get into bootloader. Any ideas?

Have you tried charging it to see if the charge light comes on?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Wait....
So does the phone turn on to get adb support?
If you have adb you can reboot into the recovery.....adb reboot recovery
If still no see if you can run a ruu.exe for your device....this will restore your device to factory configuration.
If your phone doesnt even boot or anything thats not good really.
:what:

Yeah I have. It doesn't come on with a wall charger either. It just vibrates over and over. I can't get it to show up in fastboot or adb either when connected to my computer

I would leave it on the charger for an hour and see if the light comes on. Then I would try to access recovery.

I got it to stop vibrating which leads me to believe its booted into either rom, recovery, or bootloader, but my screen is blank and it doesnt show up on my computer under
Code:
adb devices
or
Code:
fastboot devices.
still no charging light

It didn't appear in device manager. I tried to boot into recovery using hardware keys (with the assumption that it could have been powered down) and now its in the vibrate loop again. Should I just leave it charging for now?

It's going through the same steps with the back cover off. Either no vibrating or continuous vibrating and no charge light. Screen is still blank.
EDIT: Does this seem like a problem with the kernel? or is it impossible to say. Is it worth trying to exchange the unit itself at best-buy
I appreciate your speedy replies.
If you don't have anything important on your phone I would definitely take it back to best buy. It's hard to say what it could be but if you were running fine then it all of a sudden happened with no changes I would doubt it would be the kernel

Appreciate your help. The sprint store is going to replace it for me. They couldn't get it to boot into anything either. Must be a weird hardware issue?

[Q] Stuck with CM10 spinning around

I unlocked my HOX+ today and rooted the phone. All went well, however I flashed my first rom the CM10 international and flashed the kernel, however the phone is stuck at the CM10 logo stage.
I have no idea how to get back in to recovery. I can;t even power down the phone so that I can re-install a nandroid backup of my original rom. The CM10 logo is just spinning around. Normally I would pull the battery but!!!
Help please
Devices with non-removable batteries have hardware key combinations to manually reboot the phone. With the One X+ that combination just so happens to be Power Button + Volume Down. Just hold those keys until you see the hboot screen.
Thanks.
It took several attempts of holding down those buttons, eventually it restarted and I was able to access recovery.

Just holding the power button will reboot phone, once the phone vibrates then hold vol down aswell. I find thats the best way to get back to the BL after a bad flash
