Finger scanner - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What happened here? Can anyone explain? So if buy other protective casing is it will effect the scanner?

That's what people are reporting.

Wow! Who would have thought.
I disabled the fingerprint scanner because I simply thought they were unreliable. And I tried re-adding my fingerprints and that took forever. Now I know why. When I did it the first time, I had just gotten the phone and had no case. It was easy and worked well. Then I got a case and the problems began. I deleted my fingerprints and added them again, this time was painful. It never occurred to me that the case would be involved since there's a cutout on the back for the scanner etc. I got the clear Spigen case from Amazon.

Spigen GLASt.R Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Galaxy S4

Hello all,
Wanted to share this fix, i have not seen this here or anywhere else about removing hair and crap from the sticky tempered glass section.
I even called SPG about a fix. they told me i could send it in and buy another at a discount. yea ok...
Fix:
so i ended up running warm water over it,rubbed it with my fingures to remove the hair.
Then i shook it around to remove most of the water.
then i just placed the glass back on and squeegeed the water out. there were some bubbles, but after it rest for a bit i was able to squeegee it again and it was fine.
so this has worked for me and a friend without having to return it and get a new one.
hope this helps
Dino

Aluminum/Plastic Backplate

Just got this in the mail 2 days ago so I just wanted to share some thoughts on it.
First off the fitment is perfect. It actually fits a little better than the stock backing. This is the Silver w/ white trim which looks amazing on my white Note 3.
It also definitely adds a decent amount of weight to the phone so for those that want to keep the phone feather light this is not something I would recommend to you.
I don't really use NFC much so I haven't really tested how much it affects it. But I haven't noticed any degrading in my cell and wifi signal.
Overall I love this back because it makes the phone feel a whole lot sturdier. Almost feels like my HTC one in terms of build feel but do remember what I said about the added weight.
Hope this helps some people who were thinking about getting this.

Ever thought about linking to where others can get one for themselves? The hell is the point in reviewing something without letting fellow gn3ers know where to get one?

Really? Is that type of behavior needed? Really makes this place for the worse when people behave like that

So is it plastic or metal? or is it basically metal with a plastic lining on the inside?
The backing is primarily plastic with a thin aluminum sheet on it.

I haven't seen any decreases in signal yet but of course YMMV.
Well its looking really very nice...However I just want to know..if this aluminium coated plastic plate leaves any sign or mark on the Note 3 at its removal...???
I ordered three of these in Purple, Gold and Silver. Nicely made and great to look at.

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking but I've removed the backing a few times already and there is not marking at all.
does this work with wireless charging?
hmm. looks pretty good! the case seems thicker.
does it sink/cover the camera?
with the leather back, the camera kinda protrudes..

I've got the black w/ white trim version on my GN3. These cases are noticeably thicker than the stock case, between 0.5 and 1.0 mm thicker, I'd say. The protrusion from the camera is reduced, but it still sticks out. I'd eyeball the camera bump at 1/3mm with the aluminum case.
As someone has mentioned, these are plastic backs with a very thin metal layer.
I'm undecided if I'm seeing signal difference or not. If I am, it's less than 1-bar on average.
Note that these backs are much slicker than stock. Almost slippery in the hand. They are extremely smooth, other than a slight horizontal brushed effect.
Overall, I'm happy with the new back, but I'm probably going to revert to stock. I ordered the replacement before I had my phone in-hand and I find I like the stock back a lot more than I was expecting to.

Not sure if we're buying the same ones but my camera doesn't stick out at all.
It's very close but definitely tucked in enough to protect the camera lens.

Camera lens is supposed to be scratch resistant sapphire. check out this video

Even with a brand new phone, i noticed tiny scratches ( you have to use a magnifying glass or slowly rotate it in the right light to see)
and phone has been no where near the insides of any pocket or un raised over any surface with my case. it hasn't seen a single touch or wipe.
some have called them surface stress scratches due to manufacturing.

anyone else?
Funny you mention it, my buddies camera was terrible, looked foggy and blurry...his lens is scratched really really badly. My camera works great, but when I looked it was also really badly scratched, we both use the same case too. It sucks that it picks up scratches so easily.

This!!!
There's a few threads in this problem my lense has these marks in it. I can get a definitive answer if it actually affects photo quality. Mine seems to take pretty good photos

its not even g2...the lens is square instead of circle...fakee
To be that badly scratched im not sure how gentle this use was lol,im using mine without a case from when i got it.And it only has 1 superfine minor scratch you can see only in certain angles if you put it directly to the sun.And it was there from when i got it.
yep big long scratch on my Verizon one.

Can't recall....Did that lens ship with protective plastic on it? If so, did you remove it? I literally just discovered I missed the plastic over the volume and power button, so I thought it might be a possibility.

maybe verizon opted out of the sapphire and put glass? mine is perfect
Scratch that... Verizon wireless page says it is:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/device/smartphone/lg-g2
maybe the finish is different.. my D800 looks like it just came out of the box.. I don't use a case
My verizon one looks like crap. Looks cloudy due to abrasions. I am really good about not putting the phone in my pocket with keys and stuff. I don 't know but when I look in the light I see a worn looking spot that does not look right... like abrasion wear or something. I think it affects my picture quality. Don't think pictures are properly focused because of it.

UPDATED: LOVE MEI Ultra thin 0.7mm Aluminum Metal Bumper Frame Case

Hello, I recent brought his bumper on eBay, and I got to say, I love it very much, it adds no bulk to the phone and feels like its part of the phone instead of it as a case.
It's really slim and it protects the bezel. It lifts high enough to be able to put it face down, but the camera will touch if you put it down normally.
Also, keep in mind that the bumper uses a screw.
I had it for about a week, and have not notice any notable signal lost, but that's just me.
I got the case for 7.99, but it might be different depending on the eBay seller.
Here are the pictures of the black one, but if you guys like, I can also upload pictures of the red and silver one.
Sorry for the horrible quality, they were taken with my Nexus 7.
Could you post the silver and link where they were purchased. Thank you.

haven't noticed any signal loss or there may be but it didnt affect me in anyway, my data speeds are still the same with it on or off.
@pham818 could you post a picture of the bottom where the charger is? Also it looks like it covers up the hole on the side for the mic? Is that true?

just do it upside down lol.
I had this case cuz I bought it from a local store. I gave up on it after two days because it is so easy to pry apart when screwed on. It makes my OCD scream because it doesn't feel like it's on there, and dust can easily get into the pried crevice.

Factory fitted screen protector.

When I got this phone it can with a really nice screen protector pre-installed. Had like a soft gibberish feel to it and somewhat spongy almost.
I foolishly took it off to put on a glass one as I always do but then found out the hard way about fitment issues with the curved top.
Anyway, does anyone know where I can get the gibberish feeling ones similar to the factory fitted one?
Or anyone even know what I'm talking about lol

Has it got the rubberish texture to it?
Like I could press gently with my nail and it would temporarily leave a wee indent which would quickly rise again
