v10 Root Questions - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all just have a bunch of questions on rooting LGV10
I notice a lot of times suggestions are made and provided with links that are for the G4. Is it safe to assume G4 tweaks will work on the V10? Especially those found in Xposed
Also has Xposed issue of the fc been resolved yet?
And lastly are their any mods to change the Navigation Bar buttons. Not rearrange but rather change the actual icon. I would rather not have a circle triangle and box for mine.

Xposed still gives fc on second screen. No easy way to change the home screen buttons yet, but I'm sure the devs will figure that out. Not sure about the G4 question though. I think some of its the same.

Try xposed framework and use the gravity box module should be able to tweak the navigation bar how you want.
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Why don't you want to use gmd?
There's an app called "GMD auto hide soft keys" that hides the bottom software buttons. You then either tap or swipe the bottom of the phone and the buttons appear. You don't use gestures to navigate... You tap on the software keys once they appear. Then when you are done the software buttons dissappear completely.
Or where you looking for fully transparent software buttons that are always showing?

ooh ok that sounds good thanks for both of the suggestions ill try both out and see wich one i like best. ooh i messed with gesture controls and didnt like it much ..thats the only reason it..but it sounds like gmd hide is different. thanks again guys

Xposed Framework has a G2 Module on Play Store that lets you assign the percentage of Navbar you want visible. I'm running at 20% on mine and its super small but very usable.
G2 Xposed LINK
Update to 1.5 just came out, going to check it out now.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I believe G2 Xposed is only for stock and stock-based ROMs. The OP is running CM and would probably have a lot more luck with something made for AOSP-based ROMs. I would suggest Gravity Box, it has these functions plus a ton of other tweaks that you can use as you please.
G2 Xposed work not well...

From what I understand CyanogenMod has an expanded desktop feature that can be enabled in the interface settings.

[Request][Xposed] Module to Move the Nav Buttons to Left or Right

I don't know if there's anything out like this for Xposed (have searched for the past 10 minutes and have found nothing) and my requests to the ROM devs haven't panned out. I would like to have an Xposed module that will allow me to move the navigation buttons to the left or right side of the nav bar. It's been implemented in certain ROMs, so I know it's possible, but I don't know how to make modules, so I hope someone who has some experience could help.
Thanks!
I would like to second that request!
Also how about moving the clock and notifications to the bottom like it was on JB?
Getting this to work as an Xposed module has complications. It should be easy enough to achieve on stock-ish ROMs, but ROMs which have nav bar customisations is harder to achieve considering that there are quite a few ways different ROM approach nav bar customisations.
Thankfully there's Thunderkat, which I'm currently running. But it would be nice fore there to be something out there for the masses who choose a different ROM that it might be compatible with.
I was thinking having the bar on the right side while in landscape so the bar has not moved when changing orientation, like what occurs in mobile phones.
Having a nexus 7 I havent managed to stay on kitkat as I can't stand the mobile phone layout, using PA in tablet mode to have both bars combined, now tablet ui is removed in KK I'm trying to find a rom that has a practical layout for my thumb.
Tried thundercat and it has the option of having navi controls on either side which is great but I cant stop to think that the bar is wasting space as you only need an inch of it, while you have a notification pane that could be on the other side.
I will have to find a way to have the bar like on mobile devices.
I would like this as well. I miss my old Asus TF 'layout ' they had something similar with the notifications on the right side instead of above.
Someone on the Kindle fire was attempting to port TabletUI to KK, but I haven't checked in on development in a while.

I requested the same thing in the xposed request thread and got no love. maybe you should ask there, too. squeaky wheel gets the grease?
Throwing my hat into this request too... I hate the way Android handles tablet UI these days, I really miss having the navigation near my hand when on landscape, but would like to continue using stock android with xposed instead of flashing a ROM, is this viable via Xposed?

Thanks for the heads up! (Although its tabletkat). Installed and works with XGELS and GravityBox with no conflicts. Although it will nullify any tweaks to the navigation bar that you've done with GB.

xposed?

I have never used xposed but want to try it so i dont have to flash a new rom. Im just worried that i might get stuck in a boot loop and with no custom recovery yet i wont be able to fix it. Should i just wait for bootloader unlock or should i be fine. I have 4 kid and cant lose access to my phone in case of emergencies.
Edit**** i have installed xposed and so far everything i have tries in g3 tweakbox and gravity box has caused no problems.

I've been running xposed since root was released a couple days ago. If I have to question myself at all about a module, or a setting in a module working properly, I don't use it. I'm surprised there is so much drama going on about this. Yes, you can screw up things if you just go installing and activating modules and settings without researching first but, why would you do that?
Here are the modules I'm running :
Xposed GEL settings
JustBack(probably repetitive but it works)
G3 tweaksbox
YouTube adaway
And that Pandora one that got removed a while back

I personally won't use xposed until I am able to have backup (nandroid) . There are to many things that could go wrong if your new to it. Correct me if I'm wrong but you need to have root 1st before running xposed ?

You're wise to wait. We'll start seeing posts soon from those who've borked their shiz being to impatient to wait for an unlocked bootloader and recovery for backing up.

What settings have you experimented with (successfully)? I'm interested in installing the module, but I've had a lot of times in the past (with other phones) where I've gotten in a boot loop, which required me to disable xposed from recovery. That would be very difficult to fix without a custom recovery, so I'm torn on whether or not to install it. Not sure how long a custom recovery is going to take.
I don't mean to be the voice of unsound reason, but I think the concerns are overstated.
Use TB to backup your apps and the associated data/meta data.
If you jack your phone up you can use the factory recovery and restore from the readily available factory roms.
If you jack your phone up so bad that you cant get into recovery... you probably shouldn't be doing anything you find on this site.

This actually happened to me. I TiBued everything then tried to change the build.prop. Bootlooped, and I was stuck without a phone overnight until I saw the post over in the back to stock thread on how to get it back working (Sprint is a slightly different procedure). That said, I'm back to where I was without much lost.

Has anyone used G3 Tweaksbox to chang the status bar icons with success? So far, I've been able to modify the clock, battery icon, hide some status bar icons, change the behavior of the home button, disable the charging notifications, and hide some navigation bar items, all without an issue. But I'd love to replace the signal icons with something more reasonable. Sprint's LTE/3G icons are such a waste of space. I assume that the status bar icon pack would change those, but I haven't tried.
I'm very tentative with the changes, because I must've borked my S4 5 or 6 times modifying stuff with the tweak module that was available for that. It wasn't a big deal then, because I could just flash the disabler, or restore to a nandroid backup. We obviously don't have that luxury yet. I'm sorry if this comes off as "drama" to some, but I'm just trying to avoid having to flash it back to stock if I can.
I'm using xposed with gravity box & xblast tools. Changed the status bar icons, color, & could only change navbar size. Can only go so small before it distorts but you can see it as you slide the size slider.
Almost forgot, & for whatever reason I can't edit post but, I also tried using the 3 dot menu, don't try, totally lost navbar. I panicked for a couple seconds but just went to settings/apps/all & uninstalled 3 dot menu right from there, rebooted & all was good.

It worked for me im running aosp icons
everything is awesome!!!!!!
The sprint specific stuff is where I personally would err on the side of caution as well. I'm very happy that it turned out well for those who changed those icons. A list of settings that are confirmed working on the sprint variant would be nice for other forum members to have in the OP.
I can confirm that "enable status bar sliding" in g3 tweaksbox works. Just be sure to uncheck automatic brightness under display in settings.

Anyone knows of a way to customize the front touch buttons? Like its height, adding multitask, sorting buttons
I know there is the tweakbox on xposed but it does not work correctly on my phone stock kitkat
Kindly tell me of another way if available, like editing a system file or so

You can flash a zip file that can modify the height. But the absolute easiest way would be to use xposed and G2tweaksbox.
G2 Tweaksbox works flawlessly on my phone - why doesn't it on yours ?

Change Soft Keys Navigation

Hey all. Is there any way of changing the stock V10 Navigation buttons look. I honestly am not happy with them.
I already tried using SoftKeyz and it did not work. I installed BusyBox but got rid of it as it seemed to slow down my phone and overheat a little.
Is there any solution to this?
Well (if you consider rooting your phone) you could install xposed and G4 TWEAKS box which enables you to install various themes for your navigation bar
Word of advice. So far root is problem free for me. But xposed cripples the second screen. So be advised if you consider this option
Phone is already rooted. I am waiting on an xposed fixed before I grab it. Have their been any updates on the FC?

Any idea on how I can get the nav key themes I've downloaded to show up either on the phone setting or the g4 tb? The apk's for all of the 5 or so I've downloaded aren't showing up anywhere?
