[ROM][KitKat4.4.2]CIVZ_NOTE8.0_rev1.0[15/nov/2015] - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Android Development

Note:
To all users, I did this rom as I thought some features that are present in my Note Pro12.2 custom rom were missing.
All the stuff is build into the system and framework without any need for Xposed framework. As I found that Xposed is sometimes giving instability or the modules it uses. You still can us the Xposed Framework as I build it into the system as a option.
I would like to thank ZaneZam for his kernel. I only added some stuff into the ramdisk to add some system controls.
I would like to thank the following for tips, guides and apps:

That's a issue with our recoveries

Thanks for the ROM. Is there a ROM for N5100?

Make for 5100 please!

Guys please read the other thread recently discontinued. Civ said the update would be for 5110 only.

Wow, I thought the ROM builds were done with until I saw this...
I must admit I have been toying with another ROM but have used ZaneZam's Kernal though it is a beta. One thing each revision got better and better. I found resetting the tools settings and clearing cache to be important when changing kernels.
I am not completely happy with the kernel as some things need corrected on the build I am running. The only reason I chose to run his latest revision is that it is fast and clears up some of the lag with Miracast with sports.
Also I found that not many tools work proper with his kernels. They function but have some issues that may mess with the kernels function.
I use Xposed framework and a lot of modules but keep away from Xblast and Wanam... as they have strange characteristics with KK.
I use CPU adjuster as a charging profile switcher. Since it does not save Boefolla config profiles with memory and kernal settings, I am forced to use the standard profile and tweek it manually in CPU adjuster. CPU adjuster lets you adjust charging rate to 2 amps so you get another 250 ma of juice.
I made a few tweaks to allow for the best miracast connectivity and wifi strengthening, by adding a sysctl.conf file with a number of tweaks. One being limiting IPV6 issues. Though if anyone disables IPV6, they will loose miracast and VPN connectivity.
I recommend using Veno, Vegas, Yeah, Scalable, or LP depending on your throughput and congestion, with miracast. I have an old router that sucks so Scalable is the best for my needs.

Is there a list anywhere of what apps are included in each of the options in the aroma installer? It's sort of a pain to just guess, and then guess wrong & end up with a bunch of stuff you don't want. One thing I'm looking for is the stock Samsung video player app (purple icon, the one that has the minimize-to-a-floating-window feature). I installed "Samsung Apps" from aroma, but it's not in there.
Unrelated: I'm getting the upside-down-and-sideways-aroma problem as well. I believe Phil3759 (of PhilZ recovery) mentioned that the recovery program has to do some monkeying with the drivers to get it to work properly. I'm using TWRP, which correctly shows up in landscape mode, but aroma shows up landscape and upside down - while at the same time the touch zones are clearly running in portrait mode. You can still use it, by guessing where to touch and using volume up/down, but it's a pain in the ass.

I couldn't get root binaries to install. On philz cmw 6.x.x recovery. Is there a suggested recovery to use, civ?

I've also had no luck with root access. There is no su binary in either bin or xbin directories. Chainfire's SuperSU install package does not grant root access after flashing. Do we need to use CF-Autoroot in order to gain root access?

I'll give that a try again. I had tried both of the zips on the SuperSU and both failed to root my N5110. I came from the CM 13.0 beta so maybe that has something to do with it.

In philz recovery you can reroot.

Thanks, worked for me also.

Got all working and then rebooted and now even though I get wifi signal everything is offline. Can't access maps, Playstore, or internet. Any ideas! This is now on other Roms as well.

So does the spen work on this Rom

Does this rom have aircommand feature?
Thank you,

I don't see that listed in OP so I assume not.
Just download and try it out! Make a backup first in case you want to go back.

**Update about the future of this project. We will continue to update and support this port until the majority of users are running our new project.** http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432621 it is not ready yet at all. But I thought id post a heads up well in advanced so nobody freaks out.
This is a port from the 9505 Google Edition system dump that was posted. It was originally meant as a proof of concept build but no one picked up the project so I am supporting it.
@hlxanthus has been continually working on mods and feature updates within the ROM. I have a shared folder where we can both access current files for the project. Be sure to thank his posts :good:
Current Build: 9/11/13
Google Edition v6.0 Aroma Deodexed

Changelog:
Aroma scrolling fixed
All apps updated (I think at least... G+ updated right as I went to upload so I had to kill it and update and re-up)
Aroma permissions changed to hopefully fix all the random FC issues
Big update for xposed framework.
- in the installer it now lists all modules and their versions. I did not update all the modules because of this. Honestly I would only install the framework now and pick the modules separate. I still use theme engine, xblast, and gravity box personally.
I was working on new builds of systemui and framework-res but kept getting FCs so I reverted those changes. So carrier label is still screwy but you cab change it with the xblast module. :good:
Overall this update is minor besides the xposed framework. But the weird FC people were getting MAY BE fixed.
Please report any bugs. With bug reports please include a syslog log or adb log. It is also helpful to include the aroma log. To get this just before the last continue there is a save log button in aroma. Thanks.
Options:
A Lot
Wipe or dirty flash
One aroma for both pure and tweaked now
Browser selection
Gapps selection
Launcher selection
Clock options
Navbar options
Extra useful apps options
Phone_Info(a shortcut for the already built into android hidden menu *#*#4636#*#* this can do no wrong, it is just a link to a universally built in android feature)
Keyboard options
Battery options
Quick reply mms option
Viper4android option
TW camera option
Watchon app
TricksterMod app
Xposed framework and modules to be able to change quick settings, carrier label, colors and placement, and also fully theme using xtheme
Lots of kernels to choose from (I'm using my tweaked audism kernel)
Init should be installing properly with all performance options if so desired.
Instructions:
Download
Reboot to recovery(I prefer and HIGHLY recommend using only TWRP-2.5.0.2... will include flashables in next post)
Backup your current ROM(if you want)
Install and select your options
Reboot
If people want to donate it is appreciated but not expected. My pp Addy is in my profile or click here

Roms that work with safestrap
Like all Roms... Mine installs a kernel at the end... Since this project actively supports MDK... It installs an MDK kernel. Which is covered in the three threads I linked to above(which you should have already read). Hint: flash the provided kernel fix from the SafeStrap O.P.

Just a tip for ME7 Safestrap users:
Install this ROM in custom mode in aroma with only minimal apps installed, including Google apps etc.
I tried the install many different ways and kept getting issues, hard and soft reboots, etc.
After install with just nova, only Google play store, and just a few other minimal things, everything is amazing and smooth. Then just manually install everything you need.
For some reason safestrap and the me7 combo causes issues with something.
Just my two cents. Thanks a million to @Dubbsy - beautiful ROM - matter of fact, if I didn't have this ROM combined with gravitybox, I would have returned this device (I'm still within the 14 day grace period)...

Actual Bugs:
**don't mess with the network settings. If you do, use the phone info app choose CDMA/lte auto prl.
**Carrier label is still screwy and shows up a jumbled mess for half the people.
Data Fix for those that went into network settings:
Going into the built in network settings automatically sets your preferred network to WCDMA. Meaning, no service. The only way to get it back without jumping through a bunch of stupid hoops is to use the built in hidden dialer code *#*#4636#*#*... Or just use the app icon called Phone Info(does the same thing)
To fix:
Go into mobile network settings.
Verify that your CDMA subscription is set to RUIM and not NV.
For good measure go into the rest of the options and set it to CDMA/LTE, automatic, and allow data roaming.
Back out to your home screen.
Then go into Phone Info app.
Scroll to bottom and tap radio off.
Open the drop down list and select CDMA/LTE auto (PRL).
Turn the radio back on.
Reboot.
Upon reboot open Phone Info again.
Verify it is set to CDMA/LTE auto (PRL)
** you should have full service now * *
** if not * *
In Phone_Info(*#*#4636#*#*):
Try CDMA auto (PRL)
Then try CDMA/GSM/LTE
If those still don't work then your nv_data needs reset. The only way to do that is in the hidden menu dialer codes in a touchwiz-stocktype rom :good:
If you destroy your nv_data and cannot get data back via the above you need to (stop screwing with your network settings)flash back to a TW ROM, enable hidden menu, and do a NV data reset via dialer code. After doing that make sure your phone is not in modem mode under diag dialer code. Until I update this section Google is your friend. And it is available information, verified. Your lack of searching skills doesn't mean pester my inbox...
"Bug" Fixes:
Reboot when hit volume up or down:
-Open gravitybox and deselect the 2 items that are checked under media tweaks
Carrier Name is a jumbled mess
-Install XBlast xposed module, enable it, open carrier section, edit it to what you want it to say.
WiFi doesn't turn on at all
-user error, check the download's md5 number
-user error, dirty install, do a full wipe prior and see if that was the issue
-kernel error, not likely if the above 2 have been done properly
GPS doesn't work
-user error, check the download's md5 number
-user error, dirty install, do a full wipe prior and see if that was the issue
-AOSP bug in general. TW writes something to a partition that stores your GPS location and area. AOSP roms don't edit it or write it. So you need to get a GPS lock in a touchwiz rom, then flash back to this. You can make a backup of your current AOSP/GE install, flash a TW rom, get a lock, and restore your backup. This has been a continued known issue with all ROMs that aren't fully TW.
Changes/Old versions:
-v1 was to see if I could get any data on the 9505
-v2 was fix reboot issues on v1. It is still the half odex half deodex

WARNING
Don't change a recovery from within goomanager or rommanager or romtoolbox or any app installed on the phone while on my GE rom.
Download a flashable recovery or manually Loki and push it from your computer.
Recoveries that are pre-loki'd and ready to be flashed in your current recovery are posted below.
I personally only trust and use TWRP 2.5.0.2(2.6 is buggy). I've seen too many "issues" with ROMs totally disappear when people stopped using cwm in favor of twrp. But cwm recoveries are included below regardless.

[ROM] [AOSP/NEXUS] [SAFESTRAP] KitPop - v1.3 - CM Apps! - Wifi AP!

Hey all,
I am proud to announce the release of KitPop 4.4.4 for the VZW S4! It's goal is to be a near to stock android experience, with all the stability of stock, and some of the perks of customs ROM!
This is based off of @Joe-Tech's great Super-Nexus ROM.
Disclaimer
- Your warranty is now void. ;p
I, nor anyone else involved are responsible for Thermo-Nuclear war caused by flashing this. You are doing this of your own free will, good luck.
Screenshots:
http://imgur.com/a/RORv9
Requirements
- Rooted
- SAFESTRAP 3.75 A03
- Either NC5 or NK1 (NG6 works but has SELinux issues).
Important Note:
I can only offer support for clean ODIN imaged NK1 or NC5, as the upgrade and WiFi fix methods end up leaving you with a cluster junk of varying partition versions, which makes WiFi/Cellular Data/GPS on Custom ROMs VERY hard to achieve. Feel free to install the ROM on any setup, and post your findings (as well as your partition setup) but, then please dont complain of cellular data/wifi/gps issues, I only support clean flash NC5 & NK1 officially.
Instructions
1. Download the ROM
2. Place on root of SD Card
3. Reboot to SAFESTRAP
4. Wipe ==> Advanced Wipe ==> Everything except SD Card

FAQ
- WiFi not working? Try a soft reboot, should work then. You'll need to do this after every full reboot - FIX: Turn WiFi off before Powering off/Rebooting
- Must SELinux be Permissive? Although many AOSP ROM's require SELinux Permissive, this one does not, Chrome and the Play Stock work just fine! (Thanks to @bokchoi2020), If on NK1, flash the SELiniux Fix!
- ROM Slot Compatible? This can be flashed in a ROM slot, however, it /may/ affect WiFi in the stock slot (depends on your setup), and I do not provide direct support for ROM Slot Setups.
- Must I ODIN to NC5/NK1? Not necessarily, as long as you haven't flashed many partitions, for ex, if you had a custom ROM, and flashed a newer modem, you will have no trouble, but if you had previously flashed a different Non-HLOS, or hidden.IMG, it will most likely not work.
- MTP Doesn't Work? I'm aware, and @bokchoi2020 and I may have a fix in the works.
- I want x feature included? Post it up, but be specific, and use the "Feature request" tab at the top.
- Data issues? Use the vzw-APNfix.zip and use change APN from the Play Store. If that fails, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=58598354
- Want WiFi Hotspot? Use the included WiFi AP app.

Wow!
First of all, wow! This is amazing! If I may, I'd like to request a way to re-enable the capacitive buttons. Thanks for all of the work that you've put into this ROM!

Suggestion taken, zip in the flashable mods section.
Note to all; If you are looking for a new feature, Could you please use the "Feature Request" Tab at the top? It would be very appreciated, and would help me keep track of what you guys want.
Cheers as always.
Didn't flash...
When I first tried to flash this, I got the following error(s): Error executing updater binary in zip ' /external_sd/Kitpopv1-02-01-15x.zip' Error flashing zip ' /external_sd/Kitpopv1-02-01-15x.zip'.
I'm running eclipse ROM, using the latest safestrap 3.75, and before I flashed I advanced wiped everything but external SD. Thoughts?
Is there a way to disable the on-screen buttons? They are nice and all but they take-up some of the screen's real estate

Looking into it now. Flashed this and tested right before upload.. it could be a bad download? Would you mind trying again? If not, then its a bad upload... and that means re-uploading on my end -_- sigh...
EDIT: Figured it out. I uploaded the unsigned zip. Re-Uploading now. ETA: 45 Minutes
Ugh.

Check the Flashable Mods section, but the ROM wont flash until the re-upload finishes in about ~30 minutes.
Upload Finished. Re-Download the ROM and try again for those that were having issues. This one works for me.

v1.1 should be up by tomorrow morning, you can download this build through Chrome on your Device if you want, and the changes were mainly behind the scenes, Dirty-Flash tested and approved.

v1.1 is Live! Any of the reported bugs experienced that weren't on the known bug list are fixed. Brings a lot of behind the scene improvements, as well as some CM Apps! Dirty Flash should be fine.
Happy Flashing!!!

[UNIVERSAL] ParrotMod - SPEED UP the 2012 Nexus 7! FULL FLASH STORAGE SPEED FIX!

What is ParrotMod?
This is a mod to greatly improve the performance of the 2012 Nexus 7, on ANY rooted Android 4.3+ ROM.
It doesn't work on Nougat. I can't fix it, because I don't own this device anymore - I gave it to a friend's little brother.
Feel free to fork it and fix that.
(Got a 2013 Nexus 7? Use this version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...eta-1-parrotmod-improve-2013-nexus-7-t3375928)
Download:
https://parrotgeek.com/dl.php?file=ParrotMod_Universal_2016-08-31.zip
Use this one if the other one doesn't improve the speed: https://parrotgeek.com/dl.php?file=ParrotMod_Universal_2016-10-17.zip
GitHub:
https://github.com/parrotgeek1/ParrotMod_Nexus_7_2012
Feel free to fork/pull request! But always credit me if you make something based on it and tell me in a PM or email.
IMPORTANT NOTE
ParrotMod needs 8MB of free space on the system partition. Don't use huge gapps packages.
ParrotMod requires a recovery that has BusyBox built in. (All versions of TWRP do. CWM does not.)
PLEASE disable IO scheduler/RAM/read ahead tweaks in kernel apps. They override ParrotMod's meticulously optimized settings.
REQUIRES LATEST SUPERSU INSTALLED FIRST https://download.chainfire.eu/supersu-stable
EVEN IF YOUR ROM HAS BUILT IN ROOT LIKE CYANOGENMOD, TURN IT OFF IN SETTINGS, THEN FLASH SUPERSU!!
Does NOT support PHH/MagiskSU, ONLY SUPERSU
If the installer warns you about TRIM on boot being disabled, it's a good idea to schedule TRIM using an app like Trimmer, or just leave your tablet on overnight (on silent) instead of turning it off, so it can automatically trim.
You can tell if ParrotMod is working by checking if the file /sys/block/mmcblk0/queue/read_ahead_kb contains "0", using a root explorer. Do NOT use ROM Toolbox or Root Browser, otherwise you will not be able to see the folders. Use Solid Explorer or FX.
Features:
FLASH MEMORY SPEED INCREASE! up to 4x better performance WITHOUT F2FS OR DYNAMIC FSYNC
Auto trim at boot, but ONLY for Samsung flash storage (it is too slow for Hynix/Kingston)
Uses ext4 but can use data/cache f2fs
Audio stutter and multitasking fix
Miracast enabled (but it freezes on disconnect unless you unplug from the receiver end)
Can set up device without Wi-Fi
Bluetooth 4.0 enabled (BLE/GATT/SMP), CVE vulnerabilities fixed (for 5.x)
More apps open at once (minfree tweak, scheduler tweaks, 64k log buffers, zram optimized)
LCD color fix (no Nvidia smartdimmer/Prism)
Internet optimizations
Can use more storage space before it doesn't let you download things
Survives ROM updates with addon.d
Tethering without carrier checks on 3G Nexus 7
Speed up full disk encryption
GPU optimizations (without OC!) and hardware acceleration properties, decrease GPU RAM usage by 4.4mb per app!
Reverted to dlmalloc for reducing ram usage / ART_USE_HSPACE_COMPACT enabled for better garbage collection [Not on 5.0.x]
Instructions - From unrooted stock 5.1.1
Download the KingRoot apk from here on your tablet, install it, ignore the warnings about the app being unsafe, and tap Root. If it says root failed, try again. It will eventually work.
Install Flashify from the Play Store
Download the latest Universal zip in the download link above on your tablet
Download the SuperSU zip from https://download.chainfire.eu/supersu-stable on your tablet
Open Flashify and install TWRP recovery, the latest version
Open the KingRoot app, tap Menu 3 dots icon, General settings, uninstall KingRoot
Delete the KingRoot and Purify apps
Plug your tablet into a computer! (not even a charger) otherwise it will freeze on the next step. This is a bug in the tablet itself.
Reboot your tablet while holding the power and volume down buttons. If this does not work power on while holding BOTH volume UP and DOWN.
Scroll with volume buttons to Recovery mode and tap power button
You will see a Google screen and then TeamWin logo, just wait
Tap Never show this screen again and Swipe to allow modification
Tap Install
You will see the files on your internal storage, go to Download folder
Tap on ParrotMod_XXXXXXX.zip
Tap add more zips
You will see the files on your internal storage, go to Download folder
Tap on UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.XX.zip
Swipe to confirm flash
When it finishes installing tap Reboot System
Your tablet will reboot
Wait 30 seconds for the device to settle
Enjoy the improved speed! (You can delete ParrotMod_XXXXXXX.zip now)
Extras
Fix for speaker/headphone buzzing while charging: https://parrotgeek.com/dl.php?file=ParrotMod_ChargingNoiseFix.zip
Upgrade notes
It is safe to flash new ParrotMod versions without wiping data.
IF YOU UPGRADE MAJOR ANDROID VERSIONS YOU MUST WIPE SYSTEM, FLASH THE WHOLE ROM, AND REINSTALL PARROTMOD.
UPGRADING ROM BUILDS WORKS FINE! In ROMs with addon.d support, it will even keep ParrotMod installed.
Please don't use with ParrotMod:
L Speed/any other "supercharger" like tweaks. I will ignore any support requests if you use them. Most are very badly programmed/full of placebos.
Disable journaling zip (it conflicts with my script, and doesn't improve performance)
Don't limit background processes, it might even make the tablet SLOWER. As of version 2016-04-30, the installer script removes this setting from build.prop automatically.
Known Bugs
Doesn't work on most Nougat ROMs
Miracast will freeze the tablet on disconnection unless you disconnect from the TV/dongle side. This is a common Tegra issue.
The optimizations to the ART runtime do not work when Xposed is installed, and you will see reduced performance! They also don't work on 4.4.x or 5.0.x.

Thanks
Thanks to bangsergio on XDA for testing several dozen beta versions.
Thanks to @nereis for showing me a zram tweak.
How ParrotMod Works
ParrotMod works by trying to counteract the slow flash storage speed, by decreasing unnecessary reads and writes, and also optimizing how well processes share the bandwidth.
To optimize RAM, it also changes minfree values, replaces libart and libc with optimized versions (reverting to the memory allocator that was in 4.4.4), and enables zram (but in a less CPU intensive compression mode).
It also enables GPU clock scaling instead of throttling based on CPU speed, to improve performance in GPU-bound games. It also disables Nvidia PRISM adaptive backlight to fix washed out screen in videos.
It increases the CPU priority of audio players, and the hd-audio0 kernel thread, to fix sound stutter when multitasking.
Finally, it increases wifi transmit power and noise filter in nvram.txt to increase wifi range.
I also made my own patch to enable Miracast.
Looks nice :3 Sounds like a very good ROM for newbies, I'd be happy if you'd do the same ROM with the 3.4 kernel when it comes out and CM13/Android 6.0 AOSP.

Maybe if I have beta testers. The Nexus 7 is now in the hands of its (much happier) original owner. Almost all of the mods in this zip except /system/lib and mira4u apk should work M though. Also probably tilapia if you remove the assert in updater script which I will do soon
To make it even simpler for newbies, why not use Wugfresh to root from stock 5.1.1? It's so much easier than your method.

Is this a rom or a simple mod to install over stock lollipop, because the downloadable zip only has 13mb?

Doesn't that erase data?
[This post was for a test feature which has been merged into the mod]
well this is my personal experience with this rom
coming from virgin unrooted, locked bootloader, never been into the darkside with my given by best friend nexus 7 (2012 and 16gb)
always OTA updated until 5.1.1
can't stand with lag and everythings else.
a litte bit google and found this thread.
so i factory reset my nexus
download parrot rom (saved in download folder)
download kingroot (saved in download folder too)
install es file manager from playstore, browse to download folder, install kingroot
running kingroot
download super SU
install flashify from play store
running flashify and choose recovery, choose TWRP, download and flash TWRP. after finish press back button
uninstall kingroot and purify
reboot into recovery (power off first. power on while holding BOTH volume UP and DOWN) until boot screen appear. -in firstpost say just power and vol down, well is not working for me. i have to hold both volume keys.
in TWRP recovery backup my current rom (just in case no body knows whatt would happend in the future)
after that select install
select parrot
add super SU
and waitt........
viola everything running smooth as butter. no more delay.
will stay in this rom for now.
just hoping may be in the future just add playstore. so we can download everything else we need and no redundancy.
thank you for your effort making this rom

BTW the slow charging still not fix on my nexus. over night charging only from 18% until 80% (more than 10 hours)
thank you for your effort. i will try to do wipe (factory reset) maybe will comeout differently)

Yes, if you open the zip and delete the contents of /system/priv-app and /system/app. Also delete any thing in the updater script that has delete(...) or delete_recursive, and the line in the patch prop.sh that has lmy47v in it. Then rezip
if you use it on marshmallow it will bootloop unless you delete libstagefright_wfd and libMira4U. But then miracast won't work
If your rom has stagefright fixed delete libstagefright_EVERYTHING-BUT-wfd.so and libutils and libcutils
I'm going to make a universal version later, sorry
EDIT: you have to flash SuperSU even if your rom includes built in su

Sorry for OT. I know this issue and I know how to resolve it. It's a problem with the flat cable of the micro USB port. With a little tear down you can resolve the problem. Take off the back cover, screw the speakers and USB board, detach flat cable and put a piece of transparent tape above it in order to make more pressure on pins. Reassemble all the components and take a look if the problem still here
Interesting.
Cam I flash this over my already rooted device from or will I need to start from scratch again.

[VS995 (VZW)][ROM + Kernel] NRD90M Modded NotSoStock ROM v5.5 1/1/2017

[QRCODE][/QRCODE]Hello!
Before proceeding. It is absolutely necessary for you to be on a stable TWRP build (currently, RC8, 3.0.2-0, and 3.0.2-1). Also, you must have already have had decrypted your ENTIRE phone. If your phone bootloops into TWRP, you probably didn't decrypt, and/or didn't flash no-verity properly, or it could also be that you are on an old TWRP build.
Here we have the base NRD90M ROM from LG.
I have added a few mods to it.
FEATURES
**Multi-user working!
**This ROM is deODEXd
**Has init.d support
**Modified build.prop for better performance and hardware utility
**Removed bloatware (including that HORRID Lookout)
**Force encrypt disabled
**New kernel built-in.
**Based off 3.18.31 from @jcadduono source (thanks so much)!
**Added in the blu_active governor and set as default (via post_boot)
**No-op scheduler is default, and recommended
**Updated build.prop for better Hotspot support.
**More build.prop tweaks
**init.d support baked into the kernel
**Battery life should be noticeably improved, with no loss of performance (maybe even a bit faster).
**No need to wipe anything. System and caches are automatically wiped.
**Updated to SuperSU 2.78 SR4
**Updated boot and shutdown animation to the Android 7 default (thanks @freeza )
**More bloat removed
** Now includes more performance tweaks.
**Full Busybox support included!
**Fixed updater-script and binary
**Removed Sony Bravia/Xperia Engine
**Zen_Decision HotPlug enabled by default. (This will improve battery life, especially when your screen is off)
**TCP Congestion controller set to Westwood+ (improved download speeds)
**KCAL Color Control! Plus the Color Control app! Thanks to @savoca for KCAL and the app! Thanks to @freeza for the updated KCAL.c source file
**IO Stats for scheduler turned off
**IO Read ahead set to 2048kb
**Added init.d scripts to optimize your phone, and keep it fast over time.
**VPN is fixed!
**Gallery locked files are fixed!
**Bluetooth and FM should be fixed!
**No hotspot or ADB debug issues!
**More things I can't remember.
Kernel built on the Linaro 6.1.1 x86_x64 toolchain
Thanks to @imucarmen for getting me the IMG files, and for testing.
Latest: v5.6
The only change in 5.6 is the addition of LGMessage. Somehow this ROM did not include a text messaging app... WTF? So I added it in from my H918. v5.6 is a full ROM, not just an update. You do not need to be on 5.1 first. Just flash 5.6 and good to go.
v5.5 changes below
v5.5 is intended only for people already on v5.1. It will not wipe anything, and your phone will not need to do its initial setup. 5.5 is an update only! You must first flash 5.1, then 5.5. You can tell TWRP to flash files in sequence, so it's no hassle. ZIP no longer checks your device, so be sure that you are flashing for the model the sticker on the phone says that it is.
Here are the changes for v5.5:
Removed boot state verification. This allows your device to pass CTS on SafetyNet. That means that you are able to use a root hide program, or maybe full unroot within SuperSU, and apps like Android Pay and Pokemon GO will work. They will never work if root is detected, no matter what.
Used more independent defconfig lines, hopefully static will go away... I highly doubt it, might even cause a no-boot issue. If it does, just tell me and I'll fix it up.
The main changes here are even more battery saving
**some voltage control preparations (still not active)
**added a DNS resolver module to maybe help some people with hotspot.
**Bluetooth and FM should work even better than before (hopefully not worse lol)
** C-states are made aware in the kernel, so sleeping should be more effective, while waking up should be more snappy.
More things. Do it!
Can confirm Pokemon GO and Android Pay work perfectly. Just need to hide root.
Use the app attached.
Checkmark where it says "Stop all su daemons"
Reboot
Open RootSwitch again, and the checkmark should still be there, click disable root, and test with an app called SafetyNet Helper Sample from Play Store. When root is disabled, SafetyNet test will pass with a full green screen.
When you are done playing, you can enable root again. The game checks every so often, so root needs to be disabled to play for X amount of time.
Here are the changes for v5:
**ViPER4Android is preinstalled
**Kernel updates to latest sources (no changes other than updates)
**Included Titanium Backup pre-installed. I highly recommend getting the license, this program rocks, and never has ads. With a license you can do batch functions, and theres more features.
**Included Kernel Adiutor to prepare future kernel updates (CPU/GPU under+over clocking later on). You can also use this to tweak I/O settings, governor, screen color). Everything should run pretty good as it is, but what I do, is set read_head in I/O to 2048, and disable I/O Stats. I also set it on boot. I do not recommend modifying any CPU or GPU frequencies since there are no changes in the kernel to allow for that.
**Updated to latest Super SU
No need to wipe anything. If you are on stock ROM, ODEXd or deODEXd, or any other NRD90M ROM, you don't need to wipe, the ZIP will take care of everything for you. /data will not be wiped, so all your old apps and settings will be there. Internal storage is of course untouched.
For anyone interested in my color options, they are:
My new settings are:
All 3 colors at 256
Saturation 68
Value 129
Contrast 127
Know that I love deep, rich, vibrant colors. Also, changing colors will not change effects on pictures taken! This is post-processing. Your phone's screen is what changes, not the files that you create.
Note: Adding saturation (vibrance) will always give some sort of color banding -especially since KCAL is post-processing. You can minimize color banding by ever-so-slightly reducing gamma (read as "Value" in the Color Control app), and by ever-so-slightly fine-tuning Contrast. The value changes would be minimal, and the color banding will only be reduced ever-so-slightly, but this is just how it is. Nonetheless, the device looks friggin amazing with the color options set.
Having issues? Read below.
I need you guys to hear me out on this...
I do not have this phone, I cannot do any sort of testing, nor do I keep up with your rooting method.
That said, I cannot fix things that were broken due to the bootloader (such as Static Boot), so if WiFi calling did not work for you after flashing the custom bootloader, please don't ask if it is fixed... I do not know how to fix it. When/if it is fixed, I will let you guys know that it is fixed and who to thank for said fix.
Additionally, I need you to tell me things that do not work. I might not be able to get to all messages, or questions, so if you see that I did not reply, ask again and again until I do... I will reply and answer (obviously don't spam). Be sure to quote me, mention me, or message me. I do not check-in with these threads, just the H918 thread. If you do not send me a notice, I will not know that my attention is needed.
What issues that are ROM-related, not user-related can you report? You will know it is user-related if you modified anything in the phone/ROM.
If you flashed a different kernel, I cannot help you; flash back to the NSS kernel, and re-test.
If you are unsure about an issue, do a clean flash (in TWRP: Wipe-->Advanced-->select Dalvik, System, Data, and Cache (DO NOT SELECT INTERNAL STORAGE OR SDCARD)-->Swipe to wipe-->Install ROM-->boot phone, do not change or install anything. Retry your issue, if it is fixed, great. If it persists, go into your SD Card, and Internal Storage, remove the folders called "Android" and ".android_secure", reboot and try again. Still doesn't work? Mention me and post it here.
Remember, you can backup your USER apps in Titanium Backup (do NOT backup system apps, or restore system apps/system data).
You can also backup your existing setup and apps in TWRP so you can flash back to your original setup. This is good if you did a clean flash, and your problem is still there, you can restore your backup and be like nothing was changed.
Thanks @zhuhang for V4A!
Major thanks to @Chainfire for creating SuperSU
Major thanks to @jcadduono for the root exploit, AND for the TWRP image(s), AND for inspiring me to learn to do it. Also, he supplied the stock System.img, boot.img, and sources for a custom kernel!/RealMVP
Viper4Android is included! To enable, run the app, and configure how you please!
More to come (as I learn to do it)
Please make any requests. If it is not too difficult, I will learn how to, and add it to the MODDED ROM!

Note to all. You will notice that the theming option is missing from the settings under home. Don't fret! Theming is still in the Rom you just need to add a shortcut for it. I'm personally using Nova Prime and assigning an activity for the theming app so it makes an app icon. There are independent apps in the store that can do this as well.
Just a heads up for those of you using themes and wondering how to apply them.
@Tilde88 so a hot reboot let's you see the boot animation and I wanted to let you know it needs scaled down. It's way too large and actually is blurry because of it.

The bootanimation is the right size, as it is the same that I use for the other models. There is something fishy with your bootloaders after doing that conversion thing. I don't fully understand it.

I see. Just letting you know the things I'm seeing. I hot reboot on the US996 rom and the boot animation was normal size. On the vs995 the word android is gigantic. It spans from edge to edge of the display and looks like a size 26 font lol

Kernel crashed @Tilde88 I was using some custom settings so maybe that's why. I was underclocking and using the Blu Active gov and the zen hotplug.
Any chance of a Sprint ROM?

I don't understand what you are saying. Lot's of typos. Also, over/underclocking does not stick, as it is not unlocked in the kernel.

lol it was only one typo. Made should have been maybe.
According to Kernel Adiutor it's sticking. I have the cpu max clock set to 1920 and it never goes above it.

Perhaps. Definitely, I would try downloading a new copy. I didn't have any issues flashing.
Can you guys tell me if you are having USB issues when plugging in to your PC. Trying to figure out if the ROM has a bug or if someone has a driver issue.
Thanks.
No issues here connecting to computer through usb.

Um, this ROM and kernel is built for the VS995, so if the sticker on your phone says VS995, flash it.

Starchild2k's Custom Rom For The Samsung Galaxy J700P

Starchild2k's Samsung Galaxy J700P Custom Rom
Information about ROM:
This a Custom ROM I built myself using SuperR's kitchen! There has been a lot I have managed to do to this ROM making it the best one for the J700P yet by far! I am very much so in the picture still for a CM13 release still working on it as we speak. In the meantime I have been working on a ROM that was made purely from the latest Stock ROM that was released for this phone. I left the system.prop alone to prove that it was in fact stock and if there was any future updates for this phone you would know and be able to get them.
Tweaks Done:
Rooted Phone
Deodexed Phone
Removed Bloatware Apps that was preloaded to the phone
Speeded up the Boot Time
Removed Boot Animation
Freed Up System Memory
Unlocked WiFi Tethering for unlimited use! (HOT SPOT)
Various System Tweaks used from Xposed Installer for system stability
Completely Removed KNOX!
Special Preloaded Apps Included:
SuperSU (Already ROOTED)
Xposed Installer With Preloaded Apps (Youtube, System, TWEAKS)
Subsonic Music Streamer with exclusive access to my music server for free!
Terminal Emulator
Root Explorer Pro
Requirements For Installation:
J700P Of Course!
Custom Recovery Firmware Installed! (TWRP,CWM,etc)
Installation Instructions:
1. Copy ZIP file to a external SD Card first (CAN NOT INSTALL FROM INTERNAL SD!)
2. Reboot phone into Custom Recovery
3. Make a complete backup to the External SD Card (I recommend using TWRP for this!)
4. Install The Zip File that is on your External SD Card (This Can take a little bit to install so don't worry it works!)
5. Reboot into System from Recovery
6. Done!
Concerns About Mobile Data:
If you are experiencing issues with your data connection not working after installing this ROM try using the activate phone in the settings if this doesn't work then do a factory reset and re-root the phone using the latest SuperSU.zip file. This will solve any issues certainly!
Future Plans:
1. Set Permisssive Mode to the ROM
2. Add some more kernel tweaks
3. Add Apps2SD Support
4. Add custom Pandora APK
5. Add Facebook/ Facebook Messsenger APKS
6. Remove PDA Update from Final Release

Nice with bro
I'm really enjoying using this rom. Everything is smooth for the most part, but there are times when the UI will reset, or it will freeze up at times when I'm on Youtube or Instagram.
I installed SeLinux Mode Changer, and used it to make the device permissive. It doesn't seem to be sticking on reboot though, which sucks cause I want Viper4Android active on my device.
But these are all nitpicks. I really do enjoy using this rom, keep doing your thing. Anxiously anticipating the finished out of beta version, man. Thanks for all you've contributed towards the J700P development, man.
I wouldnt worry about the SystemUI errors on Youtube I believe these are issues with xposed Installer with all the modules I preloaded and I will look into these issues and I will definitely have permissive mode released in my final release then on to finish CM13 and then CM14!

thank you for the work on the 700P version. will be installing soon!
Bro your google account is on here. And so is your contacts and call logs. Other than that great rom.
Well this is a nice alternative for now. Less mess to get involved. Thank you sir.

Add Titanium if you can. I only say that so people can keep backups without having to Fandangle with adding it. Unless you have advice on another type?

I plan on releasing the final version soon and i will add the rebuild of twrp which you can do a complete backup of the phone through recovery but sure i can add titanium if you like no problem
TBH any way you make this is fine. I'm just glad to see the stock surpassing its potential. Reminds me of @Curtis1973 with his custom stock ROM mod for the LG Volt Last year. So many thanks to you. You and @minz1 pretty much kept this model in the loop of modifications.
1. Set Permisssive Mode to the ROM - don't, permissive has a bunch of secuirty compromises
2. Add some more kernel tweaks - okay
3. App Apps2SD Support - ok
4. Add custom Pandora APK - that can be added easily. don't debloat then rebloat your ROM
5. Add Facebook/ Facebook Messsenger APKS - ^
6. Remove PDA Update from Final Release - ok
Haha thats so funny u metioned the lg volt i worked on that phone as well i still have a volt i think it stopped on cm12.1 but i did want to rerelease and revise it to cm13 as well but for now i want to put all efforts towards the J7 on getting a stable cm13 and cm14 build
Is this the best stable Rom for the J700P to date? I've been looking for a good one for a lil bit now. So far from what I have read that it has everything that I'm looking for. Will flash this jewel soon if it's a go

Its better to set permissive mode on a kernel for scripts/mods to run better but if security is a issue i will put some antivirus like malwarebytes on it as far as pandora it wouldnt be bloatware at all it would be a custom version that can download songs by hitting a tumbs up and it also would have no ads and unlimited skips
Heck ya. I use the Pandora download version and its great. The main feature I saw was the bypass WiFi hotspot lol. I have a HTC desire I use for GPS only so I would like to wifi this phones data to it. Get live traffic updates and so on.

They made it to 13 on the Volt... I ended up making 6 'remix roms' that fixed the camera issue (KitKat)
They used LgG2 mini sources to get the phone up and running. Anyway.... Y'all got this.

You might want to look at this: download any format, no ads, background playback, and pop out window mode. Just a minimal amount to read to get it working.
Working on getting selinux to permissive permanently now!
See that's the things I like, modded stuff. Anyone have any other useful links or websites?

Does look to be off to an excellent start doesnt it? i gave it a 5 to encourage everyone involved to carry on with it. :good: i am in my own struggle at the moment on a new Alcatel device. The A621BL. Alcatel has it in beast mode with crippled fast boot among other over board protection issues. But root is not to far away.
