need help on Cady rom - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Sorry about posting this on here its just I cant post it on the candy ROMs fourm as I do not have the privliges or something but the questions I have is how to I get rid of cyogen recovery and go back to the dual boot one with TWRM and the other one which I have forgotten and how do I turn on find my Sony on this ROM as I have no idea where it is
Thanks for the help

You don't get Sony apps in non Sony ROM
To get your desired recovery you could check out the twrp thread, or one of the apps that will update your recovery without the need of a computer.

Goto the playstore and get rashr, give it root access.
It should bring up twrp and philz recovery. Pick one, flash, follow on screen instructions. Reboot done. If no recovery shows up you can also flash a. .IMG file
You can also use twrp manager in the play store and flash NuTs flashable zip.

[Q] Is there a CWM flashable file to get back TWRP?

I was only wondering if this was available since we can't flash recovery images on the opposite recovery. I have made a recovery image in TWRP but have not gone so far to not just flash CWM and make a recovery image that will serve as my new point zero. Just curious since I only saw flashable CWM.

the link you gave to TWRP recovery was exactly what i was looking for. In the TWRP website they have a flashable option for TWRP to use in whatever existing recovery you have, that is CWM for us. Under droidstyle's guide (there's the thread also in dev section too for CWM) there is also a link for flashable CWM so now im set.
Although you already found what you were looking for, you can also download/run the goo manager app, press menu->install open recovery script. That will install TWRP.

I was hoping this way would let me get out but Ive now lost any custom recovery while in paranoid android. So what i did was while in Jelly Beans rom is flash CWM recovery to then flash Paranoid. I then decided to go back to beans, and i tried to flash TWRP zip that i has to restore my recovery. That failed an i have no recovery. I only have android system recovery <3e>. I am currently trying the goo manager to get me back, but so far i dont think im doing it right ill keep trying.
...So with goo manager i cant flash back to beans, i cant flash CWM back on, and ive: installed open recovery script to to install the TWRP img file but it must not have worked, but i cant see anything to indicate not.
Ok so im am stuck with just the stock recovery. In goo manager it says the recovery was installed but if is reboot to recovery its just crappy old boring stock and if i try to flash anything from goo manager it just reboots to that same stock recovery. Anyone know how to get a custom recovery back?

The TWRP in goo manager is not the correct one for our phone. I did the same thing and ended up in the same position as you. I used the suckitverizon file from Adams thread and odined it back on to the phone. If was in that position now I would use the newly released tool kit.
Good luck.

Im downloading the toolkit now but in the meantime did you have to restart the whole process in the 3 step bootloader unlock or did you just start at flashing suckitverizon version 2 in odin? Im just wondering how safe that is.

No I did not have to start over. If I recall correctly, I put the suckit file in the pda box and hit start. You can read up on it in Adams main thread and I know there were a few other people in the same fix.
Good luck
Toolkit saved my bacon. Many lessons learned. so if i want to restore an image in twrp say from paranoid then i use cwn to flash to a rom that plays nice with twrp then flash twrp back then recover in twrp. Now if i get stuck the toolkit has the correct twrp and cwm for the verizon note ii.
spoke too soon i though at least getting cwm was all good. However the toolkit wont install TWRP which is what i have my backups made on. i followed all the step on screen and selected sch-i605 to be flashed in odin. I can only reboot into stock recovery afterwards. :crying:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2051992 This has been asked (by me) and answered (by awesome folks with more sense than me).
ok it all over. CWM can be had by flashing zip in twrp or through tool kit. twrp i only regained by odining again the suckitverizon from Adam's unlockbootloader thread.

[Q] Verizon i605 question

I need some pointers here. I have a rooted and unlocked note 2 Verizon. First and foremost my hates off to all the devs for all of there hard work, and a special thank you to Mr. Adam Outlet for making it so very easy to root and unlock with his casual one click. Question 1 I have clockwork mod installed on my note and I also have TWRP Installed how do I switch recoveries I want to go back with TWRP but I'm not sure how. Question 2 I'm having trouble flashing ROM cm 10.1 do I have to use Odin? I recently flashed the following via cwm Sons of Android 4.2.2 kernel 3.0.70-soapkernel.base still at i605VRALL4 Can I change the base if so how or should I just leave the base alone?:good: If anyone can help me out shoot me an email [email protected]
First of all to switch recoveries especially to twrp you should download an app called goo manager. Install the recovery through its options and it will install the latest twrp for you. Very simple to do.
As for a rom you do not flash via odin. You could brick your device if you do. Only use the recovery (twrp or cwm) to flash after unlocking the bootloader.

You can go here http://teamw.in/project/twrp and download twrp for your device then flash it through recovery also.
how to switch from cwm back to twrp i605
I know not to use Odin to flash ROMs its just particular ROMs that I'm having trouble flashing like cm 10.1 etc... I have too manager already installed on my i605. OK when I open cwm recovery at the top I click on recovery set up then @ the bottom its showing recoveries already installed cwm and twrp when I click on twrp it says ROM manager has been set up to use your existing recovery when I boot into recovery it asks are you sure that you want to boot into twrp and I click yes then after it boots it takes me to cwm recovery. What am I doing wrong?
question
When downloading twrp do I download the image or tar or the zip?

Download the ZIP, put it on your SD card, and then flash it through whatever recovery you are currently using. Simple as that.
This is what i used when i needed to learn how to fiddle with the note2. Its at galaxynote2root dot com Its a really good tutorial shows you everything you need to know.

If you have a custom recovery installed (which I suppose you do) the flash Strix's stock ROM zip(you ll get it under the development thread) , for the time being that ll do, and if you want to go back entirely to stock (including stock recovery) follow the steps one more time carefully, download the firmware of your device and use mfastboot, everything should be fine(I have myself done that)
Hit Thanks if that was helpful
thanks for the lead am going to update what happens next in the thread thanx again

If you have a custom recovery, like twrp, you must be able go access your SD card, try entering into the recovery mode

You can easily switch stock recovery to cwm with flashify app,No need Odin. Just flash recovery.img with this app & also u can flash custom kernals.
Check this post.....

Just press THANKS.........
Sadly didn't work, it says that my phone didn't pass the compability test so what's now? When i look for it on google play it says "your device isn't compatible with this version" but it installed succefully on my device running originally 2.3.6 with generic kitkat rom in 4.4.2 is there any method to do it in odin at least? Or custom kernel would be better? Answers will be appreciated.
No way to change it, also the risk is extreme i don't wanna brick my device, even i installed a custom kernel from odin, it showed "PASS" and my phone restarted and appeared the samsung logo later it turned off and restarted again and later the screen kept in white and i did need to get back to the old kernel
Anyway flash the stock recovery it's impossible to do.

You know that without cwm recovery u can't flash custom roms & kernals.
Pleas clear that which recovery u want stock recovery or cwm recovery?
And why?
Then I can easily guide or help u.
Best regards.
I want to change stock recovery to cwm recovery. I want cwm permanently no temporal, i know the zip file it's temporal but i want it permanent! I don't know how my phone did install "Compact" kernel with stock recovery and not with cwm i've had to do it that way 'cause odin didn't work and my phone got bricked
Can i install cwm permanent on samsung galaxy young duos? (S6102B)
I'll be very grateful if somebody could explain me!
The reason why i want cwm permanent and why i want it it's because i don't want to enter in recovery and see always the limited stock recovery with just 4 options

Can't boot into recovery mode after flashing ClockworkMod Recovery in Intex Aqua i5

Hello! This is my first post
I am hoping that you guys can give me some pointers about resolving the issue with my phone, I searched around but I can't find anything
I can't boot into recovery mode after flashing ClockworkMod Recovery... It just restarts and boots normally if I try to enter into recovery... I used the instruction from this website to do it: (I am unable to post the link, so I am putting the text in the quote box)
How to install CWM Recovery
Here is what you need to do to flash a custom recovery image – more exactly CWM Recovery – on the smartphone.
First task for you to accomplish: find and then flash MobileUncle MTK Tool on the AQUA i5.
Launch it afterwards. Then be sure you do this: tap the option called Update Recovery and afterwards transfer recovery.img to the phone’s SD card root.
After you have patience for a couple of minutes (not more than five), the CWM Recovery tool will be flashed on the Intex AQUA i5.
If everything went well, your handset should reboot into the custom recovery image. Now your phone is both rooted and installed with ClockworkMod Recovery.
NOTE: In the eventuality of a problem, like for example the smartphone gets stuck in boot loop, you need to solve this by taking the battery out of the device, then inserting it back in and re-doing the tutorial from the first step to the very last one.
The I5 could also surprise you with this issue: getting stuck in “Welcome” screen. For this to go away, you will have to repeat the steps we gave you for the previous problem. All is well now.

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
Unfortunally i couldn't find the device forum for your mentioned one so the better way to ask is to do it here >>> Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Oh, It would be nice if a mod or admin can move this thread over there
ROM manager app may help
if your phone is rooted, then try installing a recovery from app called ROM MANAGER, hope that would help
I already tried that, Its says that my device is not supported

i think you might have to reset your whole phone by installing stock firmware again,, this video i found from youtube. use your instinct to trust this video but its entirely your decision.

I will try to attempt it again... Will post the results here
Try Cwm rom manager, it will provide you with suitable recovery, otherwise try flashify, same function as Cwm rom manager but with extra recovery such as Cwm,twrp, pliz etc.
