Weather not showing on second screen - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone,
I just picked up an LG v10 yesterday and loving it! Needed some help though. I'm trying to get the weather to display on the second screen, but I haven't been able to do so for some reason. I've gone into the second screen settings menu, but I don't see any option there to add the weather. All I see when the main screen is off is the time, battery status, and day/date, along with any notification I may have. No weather icon of any sort.
Does anyone now how to get the weather to display on the second screen?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I just use AccuWeather. It displays a constant notification even when the screen is off thus showing a weather icon when the screen is off.

Oh I just noticed when I set it to show date and time when screen is off, a small sun icon shows up in front of the date. Is this what you are not getting ?

Exactly, there should be a small sun, cloud or cloud & rain icon next to the time.
Funny enough I'm having the same issue where it doesn't show up on mine and I'm using the default weather app (Accuweather).

Do you have the default weather/ clock widget on your home screen?
Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk

Yes, this is exactly what I was referring to. I don't get any sort of icon on my second screen, next to the date. And yes, I'm using the default weather widget I'm on my home screen. Just to be sure, which weather/clock widget are you all using?

I don't have the default widget, I'm using the other widget that is 5x2.

I've tried the 5x2 and the 3x1 widget, but still no icon in the second screen

That's weird! I actually noticed this during the day. I was watching a video on youtube about the V10, and noticed the weather icon in the video, and then noticed I didn't have it. I've been trying to figure it out ever since. It's never once shown up on the second screen (at least when I've looked at it).

Nope I think I figured it out. Go into the weather widget settings and add location based on current location, it showed up for me when I clicked that
Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk

Ok, will do. just want to check, which widget are you using? When I tap on the widget and then go to settings, I only get an option for "Edit City list", don't see any option for location based on current location.
Oh wait, I figured it out. I also used the current location option, and now the icon has shown up on the second screen! Thanks for the help! Just had one more question, does the weather app/widget automatically update location based upon where you are?

It's the 5x2 weather widget. It says AccuWeather on the top left. I clicked on the widget, then the + button at the top right.

I used this exact widget on the G2 and I believe it did update based on location. Theres an option to specify how frequent it updates too.

if you have it set wrong it goes away to, if you leave the update at 6 hours it goes away when you go out sometimes, orr it just goes away after a while i'm not sure which one. but mines set to everyhour and i turn the data off at work and its not there all the time when i'm at work.

Yes it'll update to current location as long as you have location turned on.

Thanks for all the help. I had the same problem, but now I've noticed that the weather icon on the second screen is stuck on "sunny". It never changes. Does anyone else have this problem?

[Q] Weather on the home screen

Hello all,
I"m just wondering how the Sensation and Evo 3d both have the weather on the home screen back ground once you unlock the screen. Why does this phone not have the same back ground weather feature on the home screen?
I believe it does. On the home screen if you hit the personalize button , when the menu comes up you will see the option "lockscreen", hit that then move over to where it says weather. Hit apply, hit the poeer button then see if it comes up after it unlocks.
SENT FROM THE PROUD OWNER OF AN HTC AMAZE
It's also there as a live wallpaper. Under the wallpaper section if the same place.

It's actually on sense 3.0 which is weird that it's not on this phone. I mean no big deal but it was an awesome feature
Just make sure you have the HTC Weather Clock on your homepage and make sure that under Weather options, Show full screen animation is checked.
To check this, just hold down on the widget on your screen and drag it to the edit option. Select your city then you'll get a single option under Weather options to show full screen animation.
I just tried this out and as soon as I unlock the screen on my Amaze, I can see the weather effects flowing across the home screen.
He wants the wallpaper to show current weather. It's a live wallpaper. Press personalize button then wallpaper then live wallpaper then select weather.. I think that's what he's talking about..

If you look at his first post, he's asking to "have the weather on the home screen back ground once you unlock the screen."
If you look at his Youtube link, at 2:19, you can see the guy unlocking the screen, then the weather effects appear. This is the same as showing the full screen animation under the weather options for the HTC Sensation Clock.
You can try it right now and you can see you'll get the same effects.

odd this is not working for me...
I even removed the widget and replaced it... I get plenty of animation on the lockscreen just not on the homescreen after unlocking. It is sunny here so I should get a lens flare and the sun should grow larger for a second. That is not happening.
Odd indeed. Just to check my sanity, I re-added the HTC clock widget (the first one out of the 17). When it asked me to select a city, I selected current location, then it moved to the Weather options tab and I selected Show full screen animation.
As soon as I did that, I didn't even have to lock my screen to see the weather affects across my whole home screen. I did lock my screen then unlock it after to see if the effects were still there and they were...
Not sure why it's working for me and not others

Ok, I sort of lied... What I really did was go to the widgets find the one and tried to get to the weather options. Well I got there but then it added the same widget twice essentially. I only deleted one. This time i removed that widget completely and then long pressed where I wanted added and even prompts the weather options for fullscreen. Made sure it was checked and now it is working
TL; DR Remove the widget completely and then add it back making sure the option for full screen animation. It will then start working!
Awesome, glad I wasn't crazy haha.

[Q] How to remove "2nd" screen on lockscreen? Widget? (Attached Screenshots)

[Q] How to remove "2nd" screen on lockscreen? Widget? (Attached Screenshots)
With my new note 3, I noticed when I turn the screen on and pull the lockscreen down, another screen pops up with an accuweather.com widget attached to an "Upcoming events" calendar. At this screen, if you swipe from right to left, another screen is available with shortcuts on it. How can I disable this 2nd lockscreen? Many times throughout the day I swipe my screen to get into my phone and I end upbringing up this 2nd screen by accident.
Secondly, I have another issue with the lock screen. On my Note 2, I would get a notification... email, facebook etc. from the lock screen I would pull the notification bar down, touch the notification I wanted to look at and the phone would leave the lockscreen and take me to the notification. however, with the note 3, I'll do all of the aforementioned and nothing will happen. I have to swipe open the lockscreen and THEN I will be able to see which notification I selected. Is there anyway to correct this? I hate having to swipe the screen open to see the notification I selected from the notification bar.
I have forcefully uninstalled accuweather widget and 2nd screen is still there. I have disabled all widgets from the lock screen and its still there. I don't know what else to do. Any help is appreciated.

1.) Don't you just long press the said lock screen widget and trash it? The only lock screen widget I can't seem to trash is the favorite apps but it doesn't bother me. I don't use it but it doesn't bother me.
2.) I also would like to see if there was a immediate work around with this but it is my understanding this is how the mop flops and it is what it is.

As for notifications, it's to prevent pocket unlock, I don't think there's a way to disable it

you are correct. Usually when you want to get rid of a widget you will long press it and it will kind of pop off the screen and you can drag it to the trash can. However if you look at the screenshot I provided, that weather widget on my lockscreen if you long press it nothing happens at all. There's no way for me to get rid of it I have been playing with my phone for 3 days now disabling just about everything in the damn phone and it will not go away. I just want a regular old lock screen with no frills and nothing on it. just like the one I had on my note 2.

will you try something for me? From your lock screen, I want you to swipe it open but touch the screen just below the notification bar and see what happens. If I swipe it left to right in the middle of the bottom of my screen it will unlock the phone. If I swipe it at the top of the screen where the clock is it will swipe over to a different page that has widgets on it. I have went into my settings and into my lock screen settings and disabled everything even the widgets and it is still there.

Check out these pics. When I swipe at the top of the lock screen like I asked you to do, you can see a WHITE BOARDER around the time. When I swipe that, my lock screen slides to the right and I see a widget. When I swipe at the bottom, the phone unlocks as normal. And as you can see, I have EVERYTHING turned off that would trigger that widget.

There's a simple solution to this. Don't swipe the top twenty five percent of your screen. That's the only part of the screen that has that issue. Swipe in the giant area on the bottom half of the phone. What you're asking for is to go back a version or two of android. The widget lockscreen is part of the operating system

so·lu·tion [ sə lsh'n ] 1.way of resolving a problem: a method of successfully correcting a problem or difficulty
My problem is that the screen exists. A solution would be to get rid of it or disable it from being available as a choice.
And, I am NOT asking to go back a version of Android. I'm looking for a workaround to remove that "part of the operating system" or disable it.
Surely, if one can manipulate an OS to be able to load different ROMs, Kernels etc.... it can be manipulated to remove the widget screen rending the lock screen a TRUE lock screen.
Go get an iPhone. They have useless lockscreens. The widget lockscreen is insanely useful, if you don't like that clock widget then put another one there, for instance I have a widget there to constantly be able to control my music and o have it set when I swipe the screen to the left my camera is right there. It's like that to make your life easier. I don't even understand why it annoys you, a "true lock screen" as you say would have you only swiping at one specific point on the screen, as long as you swipe anywhere but the upper part of the screen your phone unlocks fine. You were literally just asking to have a way to get into notifications without having to use the lockscreen, if you ask me that's not a true lockscreen either.

OP asked for assistance. What you are offering has a lot of definitions, but helpful or a solution is not one of them.

Lock screen weirdness

Xiaomi has made some very strange choices regarding the lock screen:
1) By default anyone has access to the camera from the lock screen. You have to turn that off in Settings (Lock screen & password > Lock screen shortcuts - disable "Right").
2) There's a strange four-leaf clover symbol in a disk at the top right that gives access to the Wallpaper Carousel. Press the symbol and you get a "Terms and Conditions" dialog. It gives access to buttons at the bottom and swipe left to access Wallpaper Carousel. So anyone who borrows your phone can do things with it. I don't know how to prevent this. I've found no setting to get rid of the clover disk.
3) The status bar is active on the Lock screen with no apparent way to disable it. That gives access to all your toggle buttons, so your connection, your wi-fi and you bluetooth can be turned on or off by anyone. The brightness can be changed, notifications read. The only way I can see to stop access to the toggle buttons is to separate the Notifications & toggles layout (under: Notifications & status bar), which means that you don't have access to them when you've unlocked the phone. Anyone know how to take the status bar off the Lock screen?
This is all very bizzare.
About access status bar on the lockscreen, you can disable it in the settings->Notification&Status bar->last one:"Show on lockscreen"

I saw the setting, changed it, looked at the result and didn't see any difference, so I went back, saw it was headed "Notification Shade", and I didn't understand it so I thought it must have been something else. But I never tested the notification bar. It actually does the job, so thank you! (And I kick myself.)
I just have to find a solution for the first problem now.

Actually, as I couldn't see any change, I reset it. Your post made me look at it again more closely!
All I need to know now is how to get rid of the Wallpaper Carousel and the four-leaf clover button from the lock screen and I'll be happy.
So I successfully disabled Wallpaper Carousel by using an app called Ice Box which requires root access. Is your device rooted ?

Thanks for the post. I haven't rooted the phone as yet: I still need to get the bootloader unlocked for the TWRP route.
I just uninstalled the Wallpaper Carousel, which also had the desired effect of closing up a gap in the lockscreen.
A ok ! Glad you were able to uninstall it Miui comes with a lot of bloatware preinstalled so you have to tinker around a little bit. I'm eagerly waiting for a stable aosp custom rom for this device to switch to it as I can't stand Miui
Hi guys, is there any way to disable the MIUI lockscreen and use a third party app? I like Muzei with Bing image of the day 😁

You can disable the stock lock screen by going to Setting > Screen lock & fingerprint > Turn off lock. . . .
If you don't have an app wallpaper carousel that's dedicated to the lock screen, you might look at this post on the MIUI forum.

Deleting widgets

Trying to delete a widget on my home screen and when I press and hold the widget, no trash can shows up. Anyone else have this issue?

Nope mine doesn't show trash can or have pop saying delete, etc.. on any widget or folder on any screen. I can move things around but can't delete anything.

Ive reproduced your issue. If you move the widget at all it removes the popup. Tap and hold the widget and dont move it AT ALL then you should see the popup. Tap on remove. Don't drag the widget to it

I'm having this exact same problem. Has anyone found a solution to it?
---------- Post added at 11:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:52 AM ----------
I just figured it out. If Animator Duration Scale in developer options is turned off, then for some reason it disables the popup menu that shows when long pressing a widget or shortcut. I turned it back to 1.0 and I am now able to delete widgets and shortcuts. Now I'm off to reinstall all of the apps that I uninstalled while trying to troubleshoot this issue.

I posted this same issue in another thread when I had an issue - you need at least .5 set in order for that menu to pop up. Stupid, I know.

Maybe they'll fix it. In the meantime, I do have it set to .5.

Notification Badges Not showing Up on Galaxy S9+

Not sure what is going on here. I'm not getting notification badges on app icons. I've set the apps (Facebook and Words with Friends) to show notifications. I've made sure that the apps aren't being restricted by the battery optimization and set them so that they are not allowed to sleep and still nothing. Not sure what to do at this point. I've gone into Settings/Apps/Special Access/Optimize Battery Usage/All Apps and turned OFF the battery optimization. Nothing seems to work.. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I am also in this boat. No app badges for any app other than stock messages. Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger.
It's situations like this that sometimes make me wish that I were using IOS instead of the Android/Samsung with its numerous levels of complexity. BAH!

What kinds of things have you tried? Do you think that it is a bug or some weird setting somewhere which is preventing apps from pushing notifications?

I'm just a casual user and don't really understand half of what you just said. But I'm guessing that if you can't figure it out that is must be some sort of a bug, not user error on my part. Hopefully someone will respond and help us both out.

See the pictures attached I seem to of found a fix for mine.
Click the app icon badges under the notification settings. Double check it all looks like my photos if it does. Then turn the sliders off at the bottom then wait a few seconds turn the main slider off at the top. Leave all off, restart the phone then turn them all back on in reverse order.

When you say "turn off the sliders at the bottom" do you mean each individual app slider? Then turn all off on the top "master" switch and then restart?

Yes turn them off individually wait a few seconds between each. Wait another few seconds then turn off the master switch. Restart the phone and turn them all back on starting with the master switch etc.

Didn't work for me. Tried a second time and restarted the phone again after flipping the switches back on and that didn't work either.

Maybe the smart switch has carried over a bug from the settings back up. The only thing I can suggest is back your phone up to smart switch on a PC try starting like you had no back up. If that works just transfer across the important things you need and can't download and don't transfer the settings.
