WiFi Issues - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I recently got my OPX and came across some Wifi Issues.
Using it at home with a 2,4GHz b/g/n access point on channel 1 everything works flawlessly.
At university however, the connection is very unstable. The Wifi there is 2,4GHz also with b/g/n and a/n on channels 1, 6, 11.
On my Ipad, I get speeds of 60Mbit/s upwards, while my OPX varies between 3 and 20 Mbit/s - sometimes even no connection at all, despite being connected to the network.
It's also weird that upload speed is barely affected at all and stays relatively high.

Anybody got any idea if this is a hardware or software issue? Is the OPX simply not compatible with the WiFi standard my university uses?

Can't get to external network

Traceroute is failing on my archos at the moment, as soon as I get to the external network it fails.
I can nslookup IPs, ping fails externally and I can't get downloads better then 1kb/s at the moment (correct b)
Web pages are slow obviously too but they do load eventually
Latest FW running on both the stock system and using Urukhai
I am also having wifi issues on my archos 32. I can connect to my router WRT54GS with custom tomato firmware, but can't seem to get a stronger signal connection than poor from the top notification icon, and 99% of the time it is poor in wifi settings, even if right next to the router. I used a wifi scanner to pick the least congested frequency, and have no other conflicts or issues. Tested with other wifi enabled devices OFF, thinking maybe interference, no change. Tested with upping the transmit power from 50mW to 250mW coming out of the router made no difference. I noted slow wifi xfer speeds topping out at ~550 KB/s. Not terrible, but not full wifi speed either, the iTouch cranks at ~1350 KB/s with the same file/test via sftp. I did notice that the wi-fi icon in wi-fi setting does show more "bars" when the transfer is going, but the notification icon up top does change ever. Seems strange.
Also tested with nothing around it, thinking my tight grip on the tiny device might be smothering the antennae, no difference.
Is my wifi driver or the unit itself flaky and under powered?
The good news is that besides the speed, it keeps the connection and doesn't drop. Is this all the speed I am to see out of a b/g access point and this device?

[Q] Bluetooth interferes with wifi connection

Recently I started using a Bluetooth mouse with my tab and I noticed that my wifi connection and speed would sometimes randomly drop. At first I though it was my router but both my laptop and phone had a stable connection via wifi. I decided to run several speed tests on the tab, first with Bluetooth off, then again with it on. With BT off, I averaged 3-4 Mbps which is my normal connection but with BT on, the speeds stuttered between 400-900 kbps. I know BT will cause some interference with wifi but I didn't expect it to be that severe. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Nope. None here. Ran the FCC an speed test everal times. Everything looked good. I use a Dell bluetooth mouse that I have had for a while.

bad Wlan connectivity ?

Hey there!
my wifi connection seems to be very bad, but I don't know if its normal :-/
When I'm up to 1m-2m next to my router, i have full connection (4 bars) after that only 3 bars. In my kitchen i have only 1 bar (~10 meters, 2 Firesafety doors).
A friend with an Sgs2 has 3 bars in my kitchen, same network.
Is it broken or a general Prime issue that can't be fixxed?
Bluetooth is turned off.

I have had similar results with mine. The device just seems to have bad wifi connectivity :/
Pretty sure I'm returning mine.
Here's a video comparing it to the original Transformer's wifi connectivity with similar results.

Nothing can be done to fix the WiFi issues, it comes down to a bad design. The outer case is causing the interference. Most people are just dealing with it because it still works its, just that the data speeds you get over WiFi are inconsistent. In my own testing , Usually once I am 10 ft or more away from my router my data speed drops from 25 megs down to 2 or 3 with occasional bursts. I do stay connected the time all around the house, its just that data speed are affected by the interference. I did get some improvement after switching my router to use wireless n over ch 1. Hope that helps

I got some different info from Asus today. I too have similar wireless problems, but it seems that not every Prime does.
I got call from Asus today, and they asked me to return my Prime so they could take a look at the WiFi problems I was having. (I had written a couple of emails to folks at Asus.) Apparently some Primes have problems with "WiFi cards".

WOW, that's some news. I will return mine and see if a new one is any better, I personally think that the symptoms are exactly what you should be experiencing based on the interference the case is causing.
thanks for the info.
Just received my TFP today. I get pretty much the same results with my phone as I do with the TFP. Also, I had just returned the Samsing Galaxy Tab but my results are pretty close to what I experienced with that as well.
I'm only basing my results using speedtest.net. Seemed like a pretty good tool for me to determine whether or not I'd be satisfied with the speed of the TFP. I did my tests in 3 different locations in my home...one just above my router which is in my basement the floor below (about 6 feet away) - 14mb...one in my bedroom which has a brick wall in the way (about 20 feet away) - 5mb...and one in my bathroom (30 feet away) - 4mb. Not too sure what type of speeds I should expect other than what my other devices get. I`m using a wireless G router at the moment but still have to set up my wireless N router soon..a Linksys E4200.
Upload speeds were all at the 1mb mark regardless of the location..I`m capped at 1mb down by my ISP.
One thing to note, I could care less about the number of bars on the wifi icon...I care about real world results.
Just my two cents...

Check to see what channel your router is set on. TPFs seem to like G band routers set on a low frequency..... your speeds dont seem that good try channel 1
That change made a big difference for me hope it helps

I defintely don't have the best set up in my house right now for wifi...when directly connected I can get around 25mbs down from my PC which is the reported speeds form my ISP...when using wifi, I seem to be capped to 15mbs regardless of the device.
I was waiting to switch routers to see what my new E4200 does. Will post those results once I make the change. For now, 14mbs down seems pretty decent to me considering all my wireless devices (PC included) get the same speeds.

WiFi strength, range, and throughput

Rate this thread to express how you think the LG G6's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength. Like when you're taking a dump in the bedroom upstairs, do your videos have to buffer or do they come through without interruption?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Pulls all WiFi signals in my home on all bandwidths with no issues, connects almost instant and is ready for use within seconds of connecting. I can use my WiFi in the house from my car much better when sitting outside or in the driveway and my routers are in the middle of the house block by tons of walls.
Seems to have trouble switching towers when driving. I have had data drops/disconnects when I can see several Verizon Towers nearby. Its not a verizon issue but phone issue. However, when stationary, seems to maintain high speeds. I have pulled faster speeds with this, then the S7 Edge snapdragon 820.
Mine works well and stays connected to my 5GHZ signal... my older phone/devices sometimes have issues connecting in the rooms at the farthest end of my home... which is not a big home by any means but it does have brick wall inbetween. It does very well.
Coming from the Note 5 the wifi on the G6 is amazing. My biggest gripe with the note 5 is at my Gym they have 3 different wifi and the note 5 most of the time would either not connect or switch wifi.
Walked in with the LG6 and instantly sync up to wifi and had no problems switching to different connections.
My WiFi experience on the G6 has been quite poor. WiFi disconnects all the time, like multiple times while watching a single YouTube video. I have WiFi set to stay on all the time, and my $30 Kindle Fire has perfect WiFi throughout the entire house and never disconnects. Really wondering how to fix this...

I used to have a "n" wifi router and my laptop (which supports ac mode) never work right. Until one day, I upgraded my router to "ac" supported one and it just works perfectly.
Just my 2 cents.
Gets farther from my wireless router than my note 4 did, and that was pretty good. Quite pleased.
Hi,
can anyone check if Your G6 have a problem with "not seeing" WiFi 2.4GHz networkson on channels 12,13,14 ?
I checked two G6 from one delivery. Phone is updated, I did a factory-reset twice. H870 Orange soft. I contact LG support and I was told that probably the motherboard need to replaced...the phone has 2 months and for me it is a factory defect.

mi box 4 wifi issue

my mi box s is giving is trouble with wifi ..somehow it brings down my entire home Wi-Fi connection..i have a 2.4ghz 50mbps line ...once i connect the mi box to my wifi the speed reduces to 2mbps on all devices ...yet the mi box still buffers while streaming any video...i tried using a repeater and somehow it gets a speed of 10 mbps now without degrading the entire connection...not sure what is wrong with the box.
so no one else facing this issue ????

Apply latest OTA update and perform full factory reset from settings menu.
i am at the latest version ....
did a factory reset twice ...only thing makes it work is a repeater and my mobile hotspot ...
i understand if the speed is not upto the mark on my mi box probably its far away from the router (still gets 3 bars)
but as soon as the mi box connects to my router ..the entire network degrades ...
even on my one plus 5t my speed drops to 0.2 mbps from 50 mbps
MiBox4 WiFi crashes

I have the same issue like you.
When I connect MiBox 4 the WiFi goes bananas, keeps turning itself on and off, speed degrades. MiBox has të latest firmware. The router is Huawei HG630 V2.
I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.
Cheers
I'm facing a similar issue. When I turn on the box (mi box 4k), wifi becomes too slow to do anything. If i turn of wifi on the mi box, everything goes back to normal instantly.
The wired network still works fine though.
I figured out that if I turn off my redmi note 7, the issue doesn't occur.
Any ideas on how to debug this issue?
