USE ONLY ON J4. CHECK YOUR FIRMWARE VERSION.
Root method for FOJ4 / 5.1.1 for the G900T THIS WILL TRIP KNOX. If you don't want to trip knox don't use this. If you do use it and whine you tripped knox because you didn't read ,we will all point and laugh at you.
Named it TrapKernel because well its not my normal HispAsian Kernel and I listened to a crap ton of Trap Music while doing it.
Thanks to @g.lewarne and his root method with his Unibase and Unikernel for the s6 , we finally have root after I ported it over to us. So be sure to thank him for his work.
What's included:
Auto installation of root and busy box
SuperSu.apk
A stock build prop with secure storage set to false so wifi passwords and etc aren't forgotten after reboots. (Now Included in the Odin tar as well)
Kernel set to permissive

Increased entropy read and write levels
Otherwise stock

Congratulations. For being the first to mention it out of 50 something downloads. I've known since I've built it. Did it on purpose to see how many downloads would give feed back. You're the first. I'll send send you one that doesn't break the camera hopefully tomorrow. Thank you for the feedback.
Now the rest of you wonder why the tmobile s5 hasn't seen sh** for development.

I need a functional camera! Didn't even notice until someone said something. Your kernels typically just work! I need my cam though for my son's basketball game!

My camera isn't working, but it appears that the flashlight isn't working also. Does this make sense? I'm using the Tesla LED app.

What is the benefit to using the OJ4 trapkernel over the OG6 trapkernel? I feel like there has to be some drawback to using the old one, or else there wouldn't be a new one.

I honstly dont know but i did say temporary and just reporting that i haven't found a limit on functionality as of yet, however that dont mean they don't exist. Keep in mind that this is just the workaround i used. Also, the dude already said hes gunna fix the oj4 kernel, so im just hanging tight with the temporary fix in place.
I should also add that i have been running the OG6 trap for over a week with no problems on the rom i am using.

So heres the deal. I think Samsung posted old ass source. Possibly F6 source as J4. SInce F6 broke G6's camera and visa versa yet G6 trap kernel doesnt break J4's camera but J4's source breaks j4s camera

well

Aside from stagefright edits. OJ4 passes the stage fright detector scan and OG6 dont.
As meaningless as it may seem, one reason i moved up was just to pass that little stagefright scan lol.

[KERNEL][WIP}i920X Touchwiz JB(4.2.2)(Production Phase)

This kernel will be kept simple and inline with stock and free from buzzfree stuff..as the aim is a stable day-to-day use kernel..this kernel is NOT for those who want to break records..as i do not believe and rely on benchmarks..(its me..)
Disclaimer:
i nor xda would be at fault if something weird beyond my test results happen to your phone..also this is not a benchmark kernel..if you like crunching numbers and breaking records go use another kernel..this is meant to save juice and be efficient and stable as a daily driver for Samsung based ROMS..
Features:
- Based on i9205/i9195 source from Samsung OSRC(Thanks for the borked source)
- Fixed a few things left by Samsung to be broken
- Simple and no fancy stuff thats gonna bork your phones..more stuff does not guarantee it's better..
- User voltage control from faux123 for Krait CPU's..
- EXFat support(by Samsung OSRC..)
- OC(if already stable)
- will populate more as things get stable
- Selinux permission is set from enforcing to permissive via ramdisk
- insecure boot image
- Disabled Rooting security measures implemented by Samsung..
Pre-requisites
- Install busybox via CWM or via Playstore before installing my kernel..this is to make sure init.d and also some scripts work properly..
Downloads here: Test build 5(ML1 Ramdisk)
My git: source
Credits:
- noone in particular but thanks to ALL the wonderful devs here in XDA..
If you like the builds please help me get a Soda/pay bills..or the least is just hit the Thanks Button..
one more in case..
uploading..
please report/feedback on any issue you might encounter..please do provide logs(last_kmsg, logcats, dmesg...etc..) so that i can shoot things out..i do not own the device yet and surely things can go wacky along the way..
TIA
kindly someone report if the build boots up..
What do you mean with those features?
- Fixed a few things left by Samsung to be broken
- Removed most of the crappy and buggy stuff..
- GPU Idling fix..

Hey after some research i found out that when your SE is set to permissive you lose the privilege of the private mode as it suggests that your phone isn't safe :/ You can use third-party apps so you can lock your apps though :/

But is there a way to remove the Knox nonsense completely? Getting messages from security center or whatever.
Can that sh*t be removed completely?

I used System App Remover Root. There you can delete root apps.
I delete Smart Manager, and you also have to delete Security Log thing. Otherwise you will keep getting messages.
Now I only need to find out if I can just delete Knox stuff too whats in there.

My pleasure to be the first one in OP !
With wishful regards to my brother, UpInTheAir for his hard work I'm writing to inform people around about the biggest problems I've experienced with this kernel since MM.
I was afraid of flashing stock ROM, hence I waited about a week to have a debloated/tested custom ROM.
Once one came out, I had to have both bootloader and modem flashed to make custom MM ROM working, I did and everything seemed to be happy at the moment but problems started to ruin my head (some of them still exist although)
I had problems with sudden screen off with the only solution of hard rebooting, Synapse couldn't be working and this kernel is much more power with synapse.
Any how, after 2 weeks of pain I tested something stupid which worked for me.
I flashed a stock ROM with odin, then flashed TWRP 3 and then a custom rom and at the end kernel flashing procedures. the only problem which still exists is charging while phone is off or even rebooting from recovery/bootloader while phone is pluggen in with USB cable.
Everything else is working so fine.
I really recommend to flash a STOCK ROM instead of BL/MODEM only.
by the way, since presence of supersu 2.68 so many issues have gone as well which wasn't available at the time of initial releases of SkyHigh nor Marshmallow for Samsung.
congratulation

Where is download link ?
so, does it mean I dare to flash 6.0.1 with odin and flash this kernel to have the latest Mashrmallow without deep sleep issue, lagging and any battery draining culprits recently introduced in samsung MM based on rooting ?
my main reason to migrate to MM is absolutely Doze feature to get rid of some battery draining issues in LP and because of BPB6 bootloader I'm afraid of flashing MM until I certainly be sure about having all features I had in LP.
By the way, why SELinux is enforcing ? any technical limitation? any solution to set it to permissive ?
Amount of software I'm using are extremely SELinux dependent and I hate any kind of SELinux, KNOX and restrictions in Android OS.

Geez . . .impatient. I am preparing the thread !!! It takes time
If you didn't like MM, easy enough to downgrade again
Enforcing for now, features added later. Hopefully, something like my 5.1.1 kernel
For now, you can use SELinux Mode Changer app to set permissive (if needed). It think it reset after reboot.
I'm tired . . .
That was fast!

Just a note on kernels
I've tested many many kernels on many devices. When they are configured the same, performance/battery is about the same. Any difference was slight enough to be considered noise in the test methods. I always suggest to learn about kernel parameters then tweak it to the way you want. Any kernel will give more performance, or battery life, or anything between - all depends on how you configure it.
Ps - same device, same twrp, supersu instead of magisc, no problems. Except seems not compatible with ex kernel manager - it doesn't apply settings. I believe it doesn't set proper permissions to be able to write. But hey, it's young and a stockish kernel, hope to see more.

yeah, sorry. new at this. dont know if @geneticengineer wants me passing his old kernels he hasnt posted around either. if you can find his afh, he has a really old one on there thats way faster. im still learning, im working on pulling the stock modules and kernel to make a back to stock zip rn actually will post soon if you keep using it, it speeds up a tiny bit lol

Is the only benefit to have magisk modules on stock rom? I have XT1806 rooted TWRP r9 Gladius Magisk 14.3 flashed this kernel but kept booting straight to recovery...had to do a full restore. I'm looking for custom kernels that provide speed and power benefits. Thanks

planning kexec hardboot and disable force decrypt when i get the hang of this.

Just a note on kernels
Ps - same device, same twrp, supersu instead of magisc, no problems. Except seems not compatible with ex kernel manager - it doesn't apply settings. I believe it doesn't set proper permissions to be able to write. But hey, it's young and a stockish kernel, hope to see more.

actually i think i missed something in defconfig that enables the secondary processor, im also going to switch toolchains, expect a new kernel in a few days
Here's a link to GeneticEngineer's AFH-hosted original kernel from the TWRP thread. I don't think he'll mind it being reposted in this thread. This should tide people over until you can iron out the bugs in your build.

Thanks for picking up the baton and running with it, incidentally. I did ask GeneticEngineer to create a thread for his kernel but perhaps he missed the message.

i actually get those weird reboot to recovery bugs all the time on this device and 2 things fix it, booting to bootloader and picking "start" or a full restore
I tried version 2. I still couldn't get it to pass Magisk SafetyNet. I also noticed that this kernel breaks fingerprint gestures.

GeneticEngineer's original both passes SafetyNet and leaves fingerprint gestures functional on my otherwise stock single Sim EU version:

Thanks. I tried it and still wouldn't pass SafetyNet. The fingerprint gestures worked though. I am running it on a secondary ROM. Maybe that is causing the issue?

I've built a fully working stock kernel which has the needed commits for Magisk modules to work correctly and passes SafetyNet [emoji6]. Need to do some more updating (upstream) but I plan on posting it soon, probably new thread (Resurrected Kernel).

A stock based kernel isn't gonna play well with custom ROMs, unless your secondary ROM is a stock ROM? I plan on creating one for cm-14.1+ based ROMs too.

If you need someone to beta test it, let me know. It is the only reason I am not running stock.

[CLOSED] Rick's Rom DUB5 SM-N986U1 Snapdragon Safe Update To One UI 3.1

First, I am not responsible to what happens after you flash this. If your phone dose not work afterwords it is your own doing. I didn't force you to flash it..
This is a stock rom for the most part for the Snapdragon Note 20 Ultra U1 that I use as my daily driver. I disabled file encryption, removed knox, fixed screen cast and shealth plus Bluetooth and smartwatch pairing. Most of the Google apps are uninstallable. I'll try to keep this up to date every month the best I can. Enjoy.
You Must Have A Unlocked Bootloader and a SM-N986 U1 or U Ultra to proceed. This Might Wipe Your Data!! Make a Back up!!.
Instructions:
1: Flash with Odin in the respective slots (bl, ap, cp and csc).
2: Wipe and format data in recovery if coming from a different rom or android version.
3: Reboot and set it up.
Enjoy.
See this thread or this thread if you need a unlock. The teams there are great!
Built With SuperR's Kitchen
Thanks @afaneh92 for the unlock and TWRP
Thanks @bklyn_syed for sharing the fixes for Bluetooth and shealth.

Thanks I built it last night.
Anyone who downloaded this before this post please re-download the rom. I had a file mixed up with another rom by mistake, sorry. New files are uploading now. Please report any problems you may have if any, Thanks.
I uploaded some a new build that addresses the game launcher crash and theme store crash.
@Misterxtc Very glad to see more custom roms being built.
Would you be able to build an AOSP rom for the Note 20 Ultra (SM-986U)?
Would love to see an AOSP rom like Lineage OS or Havoc OS

Me too but I haven't gotten one to boot properly yet. I also own a S20+ and would like to build something for both. I am exploring the options.

I don't think so but I'm really not sure, I haven't looked into it. The big deal for me is downloading more firmware, keeping track of more files, storage space and time. Honestly it's pretty simple to build your own. You can get all the info you need for that here .
@Misterxtc, what is your preferred method for root access?

I was sitting here debating on whether to go with 10 or 11 lol. Durrr me...I'm all for a custom cleaned up ROM any day over the untouched stock firmware. I see that your ROM is on the latest 11 (CUA1). Nice!
Since your tweaking the universal U1 firmware and since there isn't any carrier bloatware in there, is there much to really remove to make it even more lean and lighter? I know in the old days those firmware's were loaded with bloat and by removing them helped it a lot.
I also noticed that the latest 11 file size was smaller than the latest 10. From what you can see is that from just making 11 more efficient, thus making it lighter?
Regarding the change log:
Disabled File Encryption - Is that for the entire device file encryption or the built in folder encryption that was disabled? What are the benefits from disabling this? Does it just make it smoother even if you don't use the encryption feature on the device?
Removed Knox - Does using a smart watch to use Samsung Pay etc... still a work around even with the device knox removed?
Are there any settings to be able to tweak camera settings to improve the camera? iirc back in the Note 3 and 4 days, a Dev said that there was a value in the image quality or something that was set to I think 8 instead of the max 10? He had maxed that out and included that in the ROM... I'm curious if such adjustments exist in the 11?
Does the CUA1 have the baked in Microsoft Swiftkey (VIRUS) or is that only on carrier firmware's?
I have the Unlocked varaint of the Note 20 Ultra straight from Samsung. Oddly, it came with firmware ATGO, which is ATT lol.. but I'm on TM. What has been annoying is that I can't uninstall the darn microsoft swiftkey.
I love Swiftkey as a keyboard (best touch accuracy IMO), but despise the intrusivemness, so I like to use my own tweaked swiftkey with the internet premissions removed w/ using AFWall+ to block everything else. ie...
The thing is that I haven't been able to install the tweaked swiftkey due to it not letting me since the stock MS one is baked in...
