Dual Viber / whatsapp request - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i'm a proud Android owner, but isn't it shame that iphone owners can easily install multiple whatsapp or Viber apps but we can't? even after ROOT. (maybe unless someone is very good at rewriting and manipulating the app or the OS)
you Developers can create anything. PLEASE help us to be able to install an app multiple times. i know it's possible because there is a very hard way to do it. but you guys can make it simple.
how great will it be if we could have multiple facebook and instagram and viber on our phones (especially the dual sim ones)
there is an app that allows you to install multiple (Wechat)
GO TEAM ANDROID

by the way, there are some alternatives for the people who need this.
for example:
OgWhatsapp (which will help you install multiple whatsapp)
2lines for viber (uses your viber app and changes between numbers on the fly) (not really a dual app but colse)
2lines for whatsapp (also works the same as mentioned above)
multiwechat (which really installs more than one wechat on your phone)
i will update this if i find anything new. or you guys can help.
STILL i hope a capable developer finds a way to install an app multiple times

I don't find 2lines for Viber can you post a link please?

[Q] IOS like restrictions for android (restricted profiles suck)

Is there an app available which provides similar features to ios restrictions, such as being able to prevent changes to accounts and contacts, meaning for apps such as hangouts or messenger i can prevent my brother from only contacting existing contacts and prevent him from adding random people (hes autistic...) Im currently using Norton parental controls and this allows me to block certain websites and send me usage reports, however i would like for him to be able to actually contact his family on the tablet, however being able to add people is a big no-no as he can become abusive to people. I managed this perfectly fine on his Ipod as within Ios restrictions you can simply turn on the option to prevent changes to accounts...
I'am quite an advanced android user and i cant seem to find a way to do this... i also cant believe people are praising the restricted profiles in android 4.4.2... i think it is awful only allowing you to block apps... there are numerous apps available to do this anyway.
Another issue i have is with the play store not asking for a password for apps even though this option is selected in 4.4.2. I know this is a reported issue as i have found a forum on the issue however no one had a solution.
Any help would be appreciated

[Privacy] Is there any Dialer and Contact App that request no permissions?

Hi,
I used to surf around xda-devs since its early beginnings, but This is my first interaction with this great community, and I am sorry 'cause it is a question.
So, I'm really wondering if there's any dialer or contact list App which don't steal users data .. I really hate it when I find a top rated Apps that requests almost every single permission available on the SDK, it's really disgusting. :banghead:
Even if there's such dialers that would ask for bunch of permissions, if you really know that it's from a clean company and it wont steal information from you, that would be helpful.
# Why I'm thinking of such a Dialer?
Because I was using android for years now, and I figured out that I don't really needs other apps to know my contacts and read my call history, I literally get no benefits from that, So I think if I used a 3rd party Contact list, apps like Facebook will be no longer able to fetch phone numbers out of my Android, by talking about Facebook it was very mean when I learned that they still going to copy your phone book to their cloud even if you consciously touched the 'Skip' button :banghead:
# Otherwise:
How can I prevent such apps from taking my contact list without rooting the device, (you know you try to control your privacy by rooting that device but what are you actually doing is giving access to many apps to many secret places).
Thanks in advance
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app

Is there any other way to block a contact, other than the in-app default block ?

Hello, first of all I wanna mention that I'm a beginner with Android and stuff, I know how to root and use Xposed Framework and a few other things, but I'm definitely no expert. And that's why, after I've been doing some research but failed to find what I needed, I decided to ask the experts here.
So here goes : I need to find a way to block someone in Whatsapp without them appearing as blocked on my device. Practically to cut off all incoming (and outcoming, if possible) messages or calls from that person, but without them appearing as blocked in Whatsapp, in Contact - Settings - More - Block/Unblock. Plain and simple, I need to cut off any comunication between my Whatsapp account and his, just like in the normal blocking, only that I don't want this to show on my Whatsapp in any way, I need to make it look like he's not blocked but just not answering, like in the case of normal blocking.
It doesn't matter if there's a third party app that does this, or some Whatsapp tweaks, or whatever method, as long as it can do it. The device is a Huawei Y 635, running Android 4.4.4. KitKat, rooted. I am grateful to hear any idea about how something like this can be done. If it can be done. So, thank you in advance for your time, and I am waiting your answers.

Guideline required for App development, App like whatsapp, viber etc

Hello Friends,
I am new in this forum and want to ask something from you and also need your guideline for this, I want to develop an app like whatsapp, viber etc. but I have no idea how they works. I have searched on Google and found that whatsapp working on Ejabberd (XMPP) server. This server facilitates instant message transfer between two or many users at any given second. ERLANG is the programming language and Ejabberd is an open source Jabber server written in Erlang language.
But I want to know that if developed app how that will be work like what setup I required for this to run live and users can use 24 x 7 without any disturbance. Do I need to purchase anything like we need to do in website like webhosting, domain etc.
Kindly guide me in details about this. Your answers will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

First of all this Question should be in the general section. Hopefully some mods will look into it
And yeah, you need an actual physical server to do this. Only then you can guarantee your customers complete hassle free access to it. Erlang is used in whatsapp because its probably the best language to code for handling large set of real time communication between a very large number of people. Thats why the creators of whatsapp went with Erlang even if its an old language.
As the customers increase your server costs will also go up. All the best. :good:
Hey! Its a Idea! But you musst make a lot of monetization for this app! Or you want make this app for your private chats with friends?

[APP] please recommend substitution of app: network log

Hey guys, I've been seeking an alternate of Network Log (you can find it on Google Play Store) for quite a while but with no luck, so come out to ask if anyone knows one suitable for me .
I have to say Network Log is almost worthy for purchasing (although it is not a paid app), considering the job it's done in categorizing by protocols, by apps, displaying packets by size and time, graphing as a timeline, and that made it an excellent choice for analyzing apps consuming data and draining battery, but unfortunately the app owner doesn't respond to bug summit or emails.
The thing is, Network Log no longer works after Android 6.0, while others in the market relies on system-built-in VPN function to capture data, which is not suitbale for people like me in China using proxies to reach out to world .
So if anyone knows apps that can capture packets (not necessarily able to decrypt contents) and display by apps, just to make it easy to let me see the amounts and frequency Android apps uses the Internet, I‘ll be thankful that you recommend them to me (again it cannot be using Android VPN function since Shadowsocks is already using VPN, so I think the app maybe require root permission but I'm OK)
check...
will somebody know that???
