Roms for Amlogic S812 - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers
Hi, i have purchased an MXIII-G with lollipop but i want to try custom roms, but all the roms are for 802, why no custom roms for 812?
I need support for the webcam logitech c270 on skype because is not full compatible with the stock rom and I have read about that webcam is fully compatible with some android sticks and tv box with custom kernels and roms.
The other question is if the roms of m8s or other amlogic s812 tv box are compatible among them or i can brik my device?

some other ROMs are compatible - most S812 devices based on Netxeon boards will work. I think there is a Finless ROM plus others built by the community at freaktab.
I have both S812 and S802 devices and use the S812 ROMs on all of them.
No advantage with lolipop on these, the later KitKat roms seem to be better.

Are you sure about that? i can't find nothing about flashing roms from s802 to s812 and i'm afraid to brick it

My device comes with lollipop and some apps like skype don't work very well with my webcam and i have downgraded to 4.4.2, and some people says about lollipop isn't the best rom for tv boxes.
All i need is lean back launcher on my box

i have done it, I write here how i did it:
-copy files "ff_memless.ko, gameport.ko, xpad.ko" to "/system/lib"
- open terminal and execute these comands:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
cd /system/lib
insmod ff_memless.ko
insmod gameport.ko
insmod xpad.ko
- now you can use your xbox360 controller

Any recommendations? I have been using ROMs on my phones for ages, but fairly new to these boxes. I have 3 MXIII G and am happy to go to Kitkat. Looking at Freaktab, I am struggling to be sure which ones I can even try.

@javiko_bcn - You are in luck! @ABDUL-pt over at Freaktab has created a custom Rom for the Minix X8H-PLUS, which is indeed running S812! This Rom is very stable, light, is prerooted, and includes TWRP. Cheers

Error Retrieving Box. Message: E: footer is wrong E: signature verification failed
I've been with Box bricked for some time. I have tried several roms but none works, however in every attempt when installing a new rom the message "E: footer is wrong E: signature verification failed" appears.
Can anybody help me?. How do I get this signature check when installing a new rom ?. It looks like there's a script for this. I do not believe that to solve the problem I have to spend several hours trying different roms.

Upgrading Ported Custom ROM Hello everyone here, By following this thread so far, I've managed to port a custom ROM successfully for my device from existing Base ROM. Kudos to ArjunrambZ for this helpful thread for noobs like me. But both the ROMs are Android 4.1.1 . Now can anyone help me how to upgrade the version(Example: I want to upgrade to Android 4.4.4) of my Ported ROM? I googled a lot but I couldn't find anything useful/understandable for me. ROM structure Nice guide I haven't actually tried this yet but I have a few questions As far as i knw porting means running a rom on a device for which it was not created If this is the case why do we copy only specific folders (apps, fonts, media, framework) . from port rom to base rom? So there r still parts of original rom in new ported rom what is work of those parts? And what is work of parts we copied from port rom? At 1st i thought the remain of base rom which we didn't replace is device specific i.e it contains drivers, etc am i correct? Plus i have one more query what if i want to port a completely diff version port rom For example i have a note 2 and i knw there won't be any lollipop release for it So what if i want to port lollipop to my device since i have base rom as kitkat and port rom as lollipop, is it possible cross version porting? And the base rom which you are telling should be of cyanogenmod, but cyanogen is not available for my device! porting just a specific lib i want to port the opengl 4.5 capability of nvidia sheild tablet to nexus 9 as both these devices have same gpu kepler k1 opengl4.5 is activated on nvidia's device where as it is disabled on nexus 9 by google which is causing incompatibility with some tegra specific apps can anyone help i think i have to port libgl.so for that but i have no idea how to do so
Can i port Omnirom 5.1.1 made for samsung galaxy s to samsung galaxy s duos I tried your method and there were a few problems. I took cosmic rom for galaxy s duos as the base rom. I didnt see any set perm files in this base rom , so i could not copy. Not many files were there in init.d of Omnirom 5.1.1 which i used as port rom as compared yo what you have shown in ur tutorial. I still continued and zipped the rom and it was installed but ,NOW ITS STUCK ON BOOT!!!!!! Its bricked , right ? Where did i go wrong? SAMSUNG GALAXY S DUOS AND SAMSUNG GALAXY S SEEM TO BE ALMOST SIMILAR IN SPECS. So i still beleive i can port it. PLSSSSS........... HELP........................

Hi am a new here but here are the experts i am really a newby but try to understand much as possible , i have 3 k1 android boxen with a amlogic s805 2 with a Dvb-s tuner and one with a DVB-t tuner now or the DVB-S variant there exist a vitmod 2.1 that works pretty well but in the kernel the drivers for a Dvb-t tuner are missing, now i am looking for a way to upgrade the kernel to a newer version but this runs every time out on a dissaster anyone here that have a k1 with a dvb-t tuner that have a working openelec version or does anyone know how to upgrade or is willing to make a upgrade for me no problem to buy you a beer for the help
[HELP] Good MT6592(m) Porting guide
Hi guys, I'm here to ask you a good MT6592(m) porting guide. I just bought my new THL 5000T, a MT6592m Octa-Core with 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM and 5000mAh battery! It's a monster. It has 4.4.2 stock firmware and I saw someone ported MIUI 7 for it, on NeedROM. But I also saw LolliPop and CyanogenMOD ROM ported to MT6592. I searched over Internet and I discovered that porting MT6592/T ROMS on MT6592m works flawlessly, so MT6592 (1.7Ghz), MT6592T(2.0Ghz) and MT6592m(1.4Ghz) ROMS are interchangeable. So I started trying to port some ROMs like OctOS, CM12.1 and even KitKat Roms like AICP or CM11. I searched obviously the porting guide. Well....Here's the problem Over internet there are thousands of guides, all differents each other, and NO ONE WORKING GOOD I also tried to mix them by copying as many files from stock as possible. No luck. The only ROM that booted to launcher was OctOS but no network, no sim, no 3g, no nothing. I tried to fix them by "Bugs fixing guides" over internet, but they result in bootloop. I'm here to asking you, my favourite and main Android modding forum, if someone has got the definitive guide for porting MT6592(m) ROMs. Thanks in advance, and sorry for my english, I'm Italian

I can not help you about your problems, but I'm interested in, how you were returned to stock rom after installing a custom ROM. I also have problems with the installation and instructions on how to install ROMs on mtk

You just need to flash your stock rom through SP Flash Tool!
