OTA update - Firefox OS Q&A

I'm testing ffOS on my Amami, and I started getting ota update notification, but install fails after download. I went to FXP downloads page, but only link is for a file from 11/17. Is there really an update, and is there another place to get files besides FXP? Or, what am I missing? Thanks

[Q] How to get OTA updage 3588?

3 weeks ago, I bought a gTablet and then flashed it with TnT lite after installing Clock work Mod. Before updating, I took the backup using CWM. When I saw there eas a OTA update available from Viewsonic, using CWM I restored from the backup.
Now the tablet shows me OTA update is available and after download and install, the tablet boots and then fails updating. When the tablet boots, I see an Android icon with an exclamation mark. Only option for me is to power off and restart to boot properly. Is it because of CWM installed? Of yes, Is there a simple way to remove like how CWM was installed easily?
Or Can I get the OTA update via an update.zip from somebody?
Thanks and appreciate all the goodwork in this forum.
Yes, it's because of CWM - you need the original bootloader. You need to do an NVFlash back to stock to be able to get the OTA update.
Just curious as to why you want it?
Search for 3588 update and flash it
The reason I want to go back and update the OTA update was I wanted to know what Viewsonic has done in terms of performance update and UI changes and so on. Also one think I noted with TnT lite was the while scrolling and viewing messages, the UI was giving a 'Shivering' lool and then correct itself. YouTube wouldnt work at all, Google voice gives error all the time etc. Once I went back to stock ROM (after restore) it works.
Also my spouse kind of liked the organized UI from viewsonic but of course complained about the sluggishness.
I searched for 3588 zip file and could not find anywhere? Does somebody have it?
Thx.
You should be able to download it directly from the tapntap update server:
http://tapntap.http.internapcdn.net/tapntap/viewsonic/update-smb_a1002-3588-user.zip
(Thanks to Roebeet for this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842000)
I use the "update.zip" method, by putting it on my microSD card, along with the recovery folder and the correct "command" file that directs it to look at the microSD card for an update.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892090
Thanks for the help with the above. I downloaded the file and then successfully updated to 3588.

[Q] Can you skip updates ex - 9.4.2.7 to 9.4.2.11.1?

I still have not been able to get any OTAs today or yesterday.
When I check it says can't connect. But I can surf and download other things just fine. I have grabbed the latest 9.4.2.11.1 file from on this forum and was wondering if I can do that manually with it skipping 9.4.2.9 and 9.4.2.11.
I would try to get the file from asus.com but the site doesn't seem to up.
Thanks for you help.
When I first recieved my unit, it was on original firmware, and the first update it processed was the ICS one. Similar situation I suppose, as the auto update mine did skipped the HC firmware update that came out before the ICS update did.
I wonder what 9.4.2.11.1 is all about? That was never released as an ota.

[Q] Prime not getting OTA after manual update

I have installed 9.4.2.11.1 manually from HoneyCome
I have no issue with freezes or lockups, but I realized It stopped giving me an OTA updates.
While some people are getting .14 update, I am still on 11.1 and even when I check for an update, Prime says there is no update for me.
Is it because I manually updated my prime? If so, how do I get OTA update back?
You are on a beta build of sorts so the actual firm ware updates don't recognize your Build # as one that needs to be updated.
What you need to do is manually up date to a current Build # and get back in the loop. I just did this myself, here are the steps. It's easy and only takes a little time.
Go to the Asus firmware download site.
http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=20&s=16&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+Prime+TF201&os=&hashedid=FqCKMQDqgvSncfFM
Download the firmware update for version 13.
Then follow the instructions here to manually update (you probably already know this since you are on 11.1
http://service.asus.com/infopage.aspx?rid=18
You'll update and be on version 13 and your Prime will now "see" OTAs.
Check for firmware updates, it will say there is a new version and it will start to download 14.
ta-da!! You (and I) are back in the loop for OTAs

[Q] Is WW JB Update still available from OTA?

My situation:
.28 Rooted (not unlocked) with a few tweaks such as keyboard and browser2ram.
Tried to JB update via OTA and manual method and got red andy.
Said screw it, took the factory .28 image from asus and loaded it onto my tablet before and after doing a factory reset/data wipe.
So I'm now completely stock and when I check for updates it says not found.
Tried clearing DM and CM CLient as well as cold booting linux [Pow + Vol Dn] and still says "no update found"
So is the WW JB Update still avail or did asus pull it?
Thanks
I'm having the same problem. Can anyone confirm that they have successfully downloaded the JB update OTA in the last few hours?
Happened to me as well, i think after you got red andy once you dont get the ota anymore. I went ahead and used manual upgrade method.

Same problem here. Rooted, locked, stock.
Had the notification bar give me the JB update once, that install failed.
I then checked the f/w update manually, found it, redownloaded it, that install failed.
Now I can no longer get the update via the f/w update checker. (tried many times last night and this morning)
Clouds... is the JB update available to be installed manually? Can you point me in the right direction?

I think the files you want are linked here, but they take an age to download:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909820
I had a completely stock ICS .28 and got a dead droid (DMClient error). I manually downloaded the .28 from asus put it on a micro sd and it found this on reboot and installed OK. Now I am watching the green bar slooooowwwwwlly download the WW rom. The file has no extension, so I can't tell yet whether it is a blob file or the required zip.

Well, I just finished downloading that file, and whatever it is, and I renamed it as a zip (which it is) and my TFP ignored it. Maybe it needs a specific name to work.
The many of us for which the OTA failed will have to wait for Asus to list the files on their download site.

Alrighty, thanks.
This is the first time I've had any issues with updates, so was/am hesitant to dive in with the suggested workarounds posted in various places... don't know enough about the whole 'adb shell' stuff, etc, and don't want to make things worse.
I'm assuming that manually updating is relatively simple once Asus provides the files.

Hi
I had the same problem with the move from Honeycomb to ICS. The OTA would not do it and I got the red/dead droid. I have tried EVERY method to get Jelly Bean. The first attempt was OTA, and this loaded the file and tried to update but failed. Before I did it I back up root and unrooted. I have made no changes to the core system files. I have tried each method posted and none work. It goes straight to a dead driod. I re-installed .28 from the Asus site and still it would not work.
I shall have to wait until Asus decide that those like me 'deserve' JB and post the manual update files on the download page:
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_Prime_TF201/#download
Indeed.
Once the update is available there, is a pretty straight forward process? Or does it still require terminal commands, etc?
glad to see i'm not the only one.
Guess i'll have to wait for Asus to post the JB files.
after hearing about some of the bricks I'm patient enough to wait a few more days.

Produk Samsung Is The Best

:good::laugh: Slowly but surely the Android pie chart is growing in favor of the latest version of Android, Android Lollipop! More and more devices seem to be receiving the update each day. The AT&T Galaxy S4 has finally began to receive its update via Over The Air. As most updates go this one is being sent out in batches. You can check to see if your device is ready for the update by heading to your settings, then about phone, then software update. If you aren't seeing the update you can now install it manually. The file has been captured and uploaded to Android File Host. Just download the file to your sdcard and install it manually via stock recovery. Of course in order for this to work you need to be stock unrooted, and running the stock recovery. Grab the file from the link below.
