[Toolkit] Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit v2.1.4 [Updated 01/16/16]: Nexus 6P Thread - Nexus 6P Android Development

Unlocking, rooting, relocking and unrooting simplified! (and much more!)
VERSION 2.1.4 - This program will automatically bring together all the files you need to unlock and root your device in a few clicks, or flash it back to stock and re-lock it. You can also use this program to backup/restore all your important data, flash zips, set file permissions, push and pull files, install apps, generate logcats/bugreports, and much more! With the included file association options, you can perform tasks like flashing zips, installing apps, restoring android backup files, and flashing/booting img files with just a double click! The program includes a full featured interface for automating tasks in TWRP, enhanced restore features, an in-built auto-updater/notification system, ‘any build’ mode, advanced restore features,’NRT- Live Log’ for viewing the adb/fastboot cmds that are run in the background, quick tools utilities, and tools for taking screenshots/screen-recordings. All the latest official Android builds and Nexus devices are supported. The program intelligently and selectively downloads the files it needs for your device and makes sure you are using the latest files available. The program can even auto-detect your device and build. This release brings full Marshmallow root support plus all automated features by utilizing a new system that no longer requires modified boot.imgs. Check out the updated changelog for a more comprehensive breakdown of the feature set and changes in this release.
~ my goal for this project is make the entire process as smooth and simple as possible ~

he's here! great to see you here man

Some people reported in another thread that they had bootloops with your tool working on the 6p. Have you solved the issues?

Glad to see you here, I have been doing everything manually, yours is the only toolkit Ive ever trusted Thanks for the support on this device!

I'm going to try the ToolKit tonight. It looks great, thanks!

Added to Nexus 6P index thread:
[INDEX] Huawei Nexus 6P

Used this for a long time with my Nexus 6. Just tried with my 6p. No problems at all. I used it to restore stock. Didn't use it to lock bootloader etc, but worked perfectly.

It's possible they used my tool when the device initially got listed (prematurely) and I had yet to upload all the root kernels I built for it yet (my fault). When rooting a marshmallow build by flashing SuperSU, if the user hasn't flashed a root kernel first they will bootloop. All files are now uploaded and masterlists are also updated, so there should be no issues (toolkit automatically flashes the root kernel).
When a root solution comes out that just uses a newer SuperSU zip and no need for a minimally modified root kernel, I will adopt that method and will be able to extend even more automated features.
Many 6P users have reported success with this recent release.

System root. Systemless is still considered experiential, however I may consider adding an option to try rooting that way if the user wants.

Not just your tool that ends in a bootloop, the n5 bootloader actually has some faults, I was thinking of making a patched bootloader for the device, but due to noone having a bricked device i cannot

So do I have to do something to fix the bootloop issue? Also why is that so? You need to have a bricked phone before you could make a patched bootloader.

wipe data factory reset(data, dalvik and cache)
that fixes the bootloop!
and modifying the bootloader is quite risky, if you do something wrong it could fail to write, fastboot and adb can fail to operate, cauld cause major issues that are un repairable without riffbox etc.. and even sometimes that doesnt work...
looks good, but bugs as above..
so pls solve them soon

Do we need 20 toolkits doing the same stuff? People need to learn what they are doing. With the rise of kits there is a rise in bricked phones for stupid reasons. People flashing cm kernels on non cm roms because they have no idea.
One kit is enough stop reinventing the wheel. Put your skills to something more useful.

That's funny. So you revived a 4 month old Dead Thread for what?? So we could hear your useless stupid rants about a contribution that someone wanted to make, an area which you have failed to achieve. If people don't read and know what they are doing then that is their fault, not someone who wanted to learn and or grow his skills by creating a toolkit. Put your skills to something useful and release something of your own, don't go being critical trying to revive old threads for no reason; and complaining about toolkits all over various Nexus 5 threads. Grow Up!

[GUIDE] Easiest way to root and install custom recovery on your LG G2

1.0 Introduction
This is a series of guides that will cover the basics of ROMs, kernels, recoveries, installation and so on. Questions asked in here will be answered as fast as possible. This is not a thread for unbricking your device, but rather to avoid getting into a situation where you end up with a bricked device. I do realise that the LG G2 is a year old, but since its price has dropped, it offers A LOT of value for money and while some people leave for newer devices, other people grab the G2.
1.1 Rooting
Let's cover the basics steps of rooting, installing a custom recovery and making your first backup.
If you do not know what root is, a brief explanation would be getting access to the root of your device. What that means is that you get access to parts of your device that are otherwise hidden - because the average Joe would not know what to do with root access and could possibly end up with a device that is unusable. As implied, there is a risk involved in rooting your device, although with the LG G2 the action is most often reversable.
Disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible for any damage you do to your device. Following this guide should be safe, but there is a risk involved
So how do you root your LG G2?
The absolute easiest way is to download towelroot. If your software version is 20G or newer, (or if towelroot doesn't work for you) try stump root. Link further below.
towelroot can be downloaded from towelroot.com
Click the lambda, download the apk file and install it.
If you get a pop up message claiming that the apk is dangerous, agree to it and continue installing. As previously mentioned, rooting IS not risk free, and this application abuses an exploit in the kernel.
After installing and opening, press "make it ra1n". That will root your device.
When finished, reboot. Then go to Play Store and download SuperSU. SuperSU is an application that will allow apps to gain superuser access and it is vital for any root user.
Now you have root and the ability to give SuperUser access to apps.
EDIT: For Software versions 20G and up, towelroot doesn't work anymore, use stump root instead.
Link is here: Stump Root for LG Devices
1.2 Installing a Custom Recovery
Why is a custom recovery necessary? It is, because it’s the easiest way (and often the only way) to get your device back and working in case you get stuck in a bootloop. It’s also vital for flashing custom ROMS and custom kernels.
How do I get one? Well, there’s an app for that! 
Check out this thread to get AutoRec, an application that’ll automatically install a custom recovery to your G2! Credits go to @Cloudyfa and @bender_007 CLICK HERE
IMPORTANT!
MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT VERSION FOR YOUR DEVICE!!!!!!
After downloading, install the application, allow it superuser access and install a custom recovery.
When finished, reboot to recovery. You’ll need to take a backup of your working ROM.
2.0 Making a backup of your working ROM and vital partitions
Now you should be in recovery:

}
Tap “Backup”, and backup the following partitions:
Boot
System
Data
EFS
The backup will take roughly 3 minutes to finish, be patient. When it’s done, reboot system.
Make a few copies of the backup. ALWAYS have a backup on your device , keep one on your computer and one on a microSD somewhere.
Cheers for this...looking at possibly buying it soon. So I guess this will work even regardless if its a D800 or D802?

Yay I'm happy it could help anybody!
Yes it should, but it depends on which software version your D800 comes with. If towelroot doesn't work, IOroot or Stumproot should work Try this out when you get it - if it doesn't work, quote this message (so that I get a mail) and let me know.
Will do cheers. Yeah looking at buying a D802 from Hong Kong hy the end of this month, so no idea what kind of software its going to come with [emoji53]. Plus I want to install the G3 ROM onto it pretty much straightaway. Never rooted before but seems fairly straight forward.
should point out that autorec is for kitkat only afaik
also towelroot doesn't work on some of the later kitkat roms, but you can use 'stump' root instead

Great, looking forwards to that!
Towelroot does not show ROOTED in either dialer status RCT check or Download mode!
Yup it worked for me.
Ofcourse, I didn't take the root too far, only used it for the following:
Install SuperSU
Install Greenify/WLD/G2 Xposed
Later on, wanted to use warranty, and was a lil worried, but it seems undetectable, especially since I've deleted SuperSU and Xposed..
I did not:
Install custom recovery
Install custom ROM
So, anyone else considering using towelroot, but hesitating because of the potential warranty implications, this should help make up ur mind..
This thread is what i am looking for so THANKS alot OP. Really helped us noobs. Can You do TuTs(noob friendly) on 'How to install custom roms using Autorec' or kk based ROms or kernels to LP based roms and kernels etc kinda like that flashing basebands and all for LG g2 D802 ? Cheers m8

hi everyone i have a question.
i really would like to make a rom for this phone.
ive been trying to use various programs
like "ASSAYYED"
which i found on this site. ive built a stock.zip and it installs with twrp. with no errors but then it will give me the system.ui
quit error.
so my question is
1. if this phone is bootloader locked would i not be able to install a update.zip in the first place? ive seen bootloader locked phones before and when u try to install update.zip normaly it will display a screen after and say unoffical firmware or something right?. So seeing as you can install a .zip doesnt that mean that you can run a custom rom on this phone?
2. if a developer can look at my zip and see maybe if update script is wrong. i would appreciate it.
with the stock .exe file this phone is perrty much unbrickable.
like to thanks to everyone that has helped with this phone. with the custom recovery and the stock images i found on this site. all of you are awesome!
and ASSAYYED developer. really detailed program. :good:  :highfive:
Has anyone had luck unlocking the bootloader or installing a custom rom?
..
Can someone send me the KingRoot 4
1 cuz the link is down
Hey I've been reading up on the lg k10 (same hardware) and they were able to unlock the bootloader with a patched aboot file. Would it be possible for someone to make one for this phone to unlock the bootloader the same way?

i dont think we`re gonna get the source code seeing as the device isnt even listed in alcatels help forums , i think we might be able to port a rom using the stock kernel and maybe even get a nougat rom going , im looking at the lg k10 forums (same hardware so we might be able to port one of there roms) and ive seen that they have been pretty succesful with making a patched aboot file to unlock the bootloader but idk if they have the source code , anyways back to my thing i think that we could port the stock marshmallow rom from the lg k10 with some tweaks of course or we could deodex the stock rom and customize it as it is . also i was hoping someone could make a flashable stock zip for this phone as i have no pc and am trying to do this stuff with my phone , i believe i can maybe port a cm12.1 rom using my phone but i think it`d be allot faster if someone with better expertise and a pc could help me do this

How to root Gionee p8w urgent

Please fellows, I am actually an android app developer. Most of my development work is done on rooted android phone.
However, I just got this new phone gionee p8w.
I have tried several means to root it like king root iroot pc and mobile version yet no success.
Please any can help me with actually working solutions to this. I will be really greatful and get back to my development work.
Android version is 6.0 marshmallow.
Thank you all.
One click root apps like Kingroot can't root your device. You need to install a custom recovery like TWRP and then use it to flash Super Su which will give you root access on your Gionee p8w.

Please bro ihechi I have searched over the net and not find twrp for my device. My device is relatively new. And doesn't have much about it on net.
Is it possible for me to flash twrp for other gionee devices on my gionee p8?.
My phone is currently almost useless to me now and keeping me idle.

Don't try that at all. Since your device is new, you need to port a working TWRP Recovery to your device. If you have the stock recovery, upload it to any file sharing site and post the link here.
I will try to port a working custom recovery for your device.
Also drop your device specs..

I see that the process will be a very tough and tedious one.
Actually I hoped there could be an automated process to it.
Following the whole procedure could get me start venturing to rom and kernel tinkering which I try to avoid Cus am already occupied with app development.
Based on your first reply do you mean that my device can never be rooted by "one click root" apps?
Is there possibility of Kingroot being able to root my device in nearest future.?
I sincerely appreciate your efforts.

It isn't as hard as you think. Just installing drivers, downloading the software and connecting your phone as the instructions state. Well, One Click Root apps don't work on the recent Android versions /MTK chips.

Thanks so much. I don't really know why Google always prefer to make things so over-complicated.
They know people buy Android phones just so they can root it and do stuffs yet they overcomplicate the whole issue.
I hope to venture to kernel tinkering soon. Even may be write my own OS.
Thanks you so much.
If you get information when "one click root start working, please alert me on this thread.
Thank you.

Before Starting This Process Get A USB2 Mini Hub You Are Most Likely Going Too Need It. Do Not Come In Here And Post This Is Not Working Until You Have Tried It With The USB2 Mini Hub!
You Must Start From Stock U Firmware. IT Seems To Be The Less Likely To Brick Your Device As Explained In The Disclaimer!
Disclaimer Please Read!!
This may brick your device there is a problem especially with s8 and note 8 models where the tz partition becomes corrupted and on some occasions after flashing combination firmware your phone will become bricked and as of now there is no way to fix it. There is no way to predict if it will happen. It doesn’t seem too happen very often on s8+ but it does occasionally happen on the other 2 models so do this at your own risk. I would say it probably happens 10 percent of the time on s8 and note 8 especially when on bit 6 or higher firmwares. S8+ it rarely happens too but it still may. If you take the risk and it happens do not pm me asking how to fix it as of time I posted this there is no way to fix it
Please Read Notes
OEM Toggle Does Nothing On US Model Phones
You will most likely need a USB 2 mini hub for Odin to work if using windows 8 or higher. I would temporarily disable windows defender or antivirus software while performing the procedure with your computer.
You cannot have root on any rom except a nougat rom also flashing custom boot images cannot be done or using systemless magisk. Hiding root or running modules cannot be done. There is no oem unlock and even if there is you cannot unlock your bootloaders or run any aosp based roms.
You can be on any firmware to achieve safestrap but to run a rooted rom you will be limited to using a special nougat android 7 rom. You can have safestrap on pie android 9 which gives you some ability to modify system files flash zips etc and have access too data and other partitions that are normally blocked but you can not run root on android 9 because root on android 9 requires a modified boot image
Anything here with a .7z extension will get unzipped before using
Anything here with a .zip extension will get flashed a zip in safestrap
Anything here with a .tar or .md5 gets flashed in odin
Anything here with a .img extension gets flashed as image in safestrap

You IMo this is a lot smoother than using EDL specially for the non seasoned modders.
If EDL works for you it works great But if you have EDL issues it seems like it could be a nightmare.
This is gonna be a turning point for a while This can open root for several samsung devices that may not have it yet I know last time I looked J3 US didnt have root. But i have most of whats needed to try this on it too

Awesome. Nice work again elli and jrk. Always love to see more ways to get back into Nougat with root. Now if only we had a stable Android 7 Rom that wasn't as buggy as Samfail.
It has the battery bug that only charges at 80% after installing the root

Hi,
Sorry for the noob question..
IF Im using Samfail with
TWIZtd Vengeance N8 V2.5-
What's the advantage of going this route ? What does BL ver.7 give me?
I do have frequent kernel panic reboots.. But think that might be the Rom.
Thanks

There was no way to root previously if you were on stock v7 bootloaders. All this is is a way too root if you didn’t already have root

If you look in the s8 threads I have a hack to pass the 80% charge limit It is not a bug It is a safety feature so you dont blow your fingers off
