Can the xperia c5 ultra dual be rooted? - Sony Xperia C5 Ultra

Hello I'm new to XDA and I've been looking everywhere for some tutorial how to root the Xperia C5 Ultra and I haven't find it yet, do you guys have any ideas or something that might help? Thanks for the attention.

Found the kernel source. 29.0.A.1.55 and 29.0.B.1.55. Let's see how it compiles. If it's good I can root else probably not.

Oh cool, let me know if something happens.

It gives me a dt and zimg in a weird GZ format. It's pretty much useless without a boot.img dump since I don't even get a ramdisk.

I downloaded the zip, but stopped there. I've never messed with a system dump before, so I didn't know what direction to move in. I don't have time to mess with it now. It's standard fare...system.img, boot.img, radio.img....etc...
I'll try and get to it tonight.
Where's the download link? I missed it.

I'm at work so I don't really have access to look around, I thought it was in the article.
If someone could attach it, that would be great.
If not, when I get off, I'll look it up and attach it.

Anyone know how to get Unyaffs working on Windows 7 64bit? I would like to extract the system.img
Thanks!
it's not yaffs, it's just a standard loop image.

mount -o loop system.img /mnt/system (assuming of course you've made /mnt/system)
Dang! I was hoping for this thread to be gigantic by now
I don't have a nexus to test, but I think it's a fairly standard build.

[Q] TzBob's OC Kernel

Hello XDA forums,
Recently I have purchased an Archos 43IT, and I was looking into overclocking it to smoothen out some hardware heavy applications. I have already tried ardatdats kernel but unfortunately none of them seem to work. So my question is does anyone still have a copy of the undervolted overclock kernel that TzBob posted in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901718? If so could someone be nice enough to upload it?
Thanks in advance
This Kernel is not be know to work with urukdroid!
I wouldn't test it out
But if you really want it just ask Tzabob for the file

Okey, then i haven't an answer for you buddy
But why you want that kernel? Artadats is good
As I said in the first post, it gets stuck at the Archos bootsplash and refuses to move on.

No, not yet, but im sure a dev can fix it. I used that feature on my Xperia X8 so its possible, not impossible to port that feature.
im not into all the technical stuff, but is there enough space on the system partition to store 2 roms on it?
how would this work? will the system partition be split up in 2? will rom no2 be stored on the data partition?
i really cant think of a solution for myself how two roms would fit on the rays internal storage?!
sorry if my questions are kinda offtopic, im just curious how this will work?
and what about the kernel, doesnt have both roms to work with the same kernel?

Yeah, but maybe we can store the rom on the sdcard, it was like that on the X8, the rom was stored on the sdcard.
I think its possible, but we need a developer that fixes it
interesting. guess you have to have a fast sdcard then

Ask sirkay coz he is only the kernel developer. I already asked about this, he said is difficult to do i mpossible is nothing we can do anything if we try hard.

Could've put question marks instead of exclamation marks.. I thought someone got Dual Boot working..
I don't think there's enough interest in this for sirkay to do it. His main focus right now should be getting Jelly Bean ultra-stable, imho. Anyway, it would be cool, but I wouldn't use it, too much of a hassle.

Maybe we can ask nAa to make it avaible for Xperia Ray, because I think he made the CWM port for Xperia Ray, and he also made dualboot for Xperia X8 and X10 Mini.
There's a thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508017
about dualboot on Xperia Play.
I believe sirkay has made a previous port for Play kernel to Ray, perhaps he or someone else can port this one to ray? Or incorprate the feature into an existing ray kernel?
Would be awesome to get something like this running
Any news regarding to Dualboot on xperia ray ? It will by very very usefull to have dual boot on this phone. Have anybody tried to Dualboot from another models ? PLSSSS

so how did you make the nexus rom for it?
The issue is that I do not own the phone, but I am looking at porting CM to MTK6589.
MIUI porting is a bit different, it would not involve kernel compiling per se I believe (CM either, but I would like to).
To give it a go, I would need info from here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro
So your ROM version, partition info etc.
When I manage to port to a device I own, I can give it a go.

i compiled my first recovery based on cm 10.1 for Thl W8.
I have no easy way to push the image to the phone to test.
If it works, I can start to create a recovery for this phone based on sources.
I would need that info I requested.
Are you able to post the build.prop file and the partition dump?
Look at the page with instructions I posted earlier.
Meantime I look for an easy way to flash that recovery, somehow sp flashtool does not read the scatter file created by mtkdroidtools .
cheers
managed to flash it, but it does not work , just a black screen .
Harder than it looks.
Can't promise anything, but I'll post if I get further.
Compiling on an old C2D now, so it takes time .

So, like I requested before, please :
- post your build.prop file
- post identification stuff of the device, like screen resolution, memory and recovery.fstab (or the recovery image)
- in general take a look at the link I posted before and read it, so you know what info is needed :
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro
The reason I ask is because there are at leat 2 different versions, 1 had 960x480 screen and 1/4gb ram/rom, the other 1280x720 and 2/8.
They obviously at least have different partitions and displays and perhaps even other different hardware.
You can also post a full working ROM on dropbox or something.
thanks
P.S. for the needed tools, see here:

This is a CWM 6.0.3.3 which works on my device.
Use SP Flash Tools 3.13 something to flash.
My scatter file is attached, please compare it with yours.
Needless to say perhaps, but still: this is on your own risk.
You may damage your device if you do not know what you are doing.
Bricking it is not my fault!
So think before you act.
If you try: please give feedback if it works.
If does it is the same device: N9389 5.3", 960x480 (qHD) , 1 gb ram, 4 gb rom.
Device identifier: v89_gq2002s
Baseband v: MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V6.P2, 2013/03/26 12:42

Hi,
Well I am partly motivated by your offer, but I enjoy Android and Linux hacking.
Let's hope those attempts will lead to something.
How about LewaOS? There are good porting guides for that.
I will try to look for MIUI or CM in the weekend.
Initial CM would miss dual sim support.
Maybe MIUI is easier, because some work has been done.
Well, I'll see.
Don't overestimate the complexity, if you have CM 6 and made it yourself, porting a rom is doable I suppose ?
cheers
