I have unlocked my tablet using Sony Developer tools. I then tried to downgrade with flashtools to a kitkat firmware . I tried 2 different firmwares for SGP 321 but both give me a boot loop.
I am using flashmode to flash , should I use fastboot mode?
any other firmware I should try or settings in the flashtool?
these are the ones I tried: SGP321_4.4.2 _10.5.A.0.233 3AT .ftf. SGP321_10.1.1.A.1.307_Customized_FR.ftf
All I want is a rooted tablet z with whatever firmware on it.

When you say boot loop, do you mean the screen goes black and starts to boot again?
Or do you mean the boot animation is repeating for a long time?
The first time you boot up after flashing an ftf will take a long time. It can range from a few minutes up to tens of minutes.
Did you select wipe USERDATA when you flashed the ftf in flash mode?
Try that if you haven't. See attached screenshot.
Checking it will wipe all your apps, data and internal storage.
I'd recommend you use the latest ROM, 10.7.A.0.228. Root and Xposed works on Lollipop 5.1.1.
Here is a Generic Germany FTF 10.7.A.0.228.
You'll need to root it by flashing supersu zip in recovery.
If you don't have a recovery flashed/installed, you should flash one.
Let me know if you need instructions on installing a recovery.

A few things you should know about recovery
If you plan on using an official Sony ROM with an unlocked bootloader, the recovery needs to be part of the kernel image.
Sony's official kernel images do not contain a recovery.
The kernel gets overwritten when you flash new ROMs (Official and Custom), so you will lose recovery every time you flash a ROM.
Thus you must reflash the kernel with recovery every time you change ROMS.
Kernel's for different versions of ROMs should not be used interchangeably.
It always best to use the kernel made for the ROM.
Flash official ROM before flashing recovery
If you are planning on using an official ROM, flash the official ROM in Download Mode before flashing the recovery (for the reason mentioned above - kernel gets overwritten).
You should wipe USERDATA to minimise compatibility issues.
Do this first before proceeding.
Downloading a kernel with recovery
Fellow xda member [NUT] has an awesome kernel builder tool which allows you to create kernel images with built in recoveries.
Head over to nut.xperia-files.com and navigate to XZDualRecovery > Kernel Builder
Check the checkbox "Yes, I have unlocked my bootloader!".
Select the Make and model of your device (Xperia Tablet Z SGP321 in your case).
Then select the firmware version you will be using (10.7.A.0.228 in your case).
Cross your fingers. If someone has already uploaded the kernel for that version, you can simply download the link provided. Otherwise you will need to upload the kernel. If you have an FTF, simply open it as a zip file and upload the kernel.sin inside.
Flashing Kernel with Recovery
Open the zip file downloaded from the Kernel Builder and open the tmp folder. Extract the boot.img file inside the tmp folder to somewhere on your computer.
Open Flashtool.
Click on the Flash Icon.
Select Fastboot mode.
Click "Select Kernel to Flash".
Put device into Fastboot mode. (2012+ devices: Press and hold VOL+ button while plugging in USB cable)
Once connected, a file selection dialogue will show. Select the boot.img file extracted earlier. You may need to select the type of file (sin, elf, img) before you can see the file in the explorer.
Flashing will start immediately after selection. Check the log and ensure there are no errors.
Unplug the USB cable.
You now have recovery (Two recoveries to be specific - as XZDualRecovery has PhilZ and TWRP).
I would recommend TWRP as it is easier to use and has more features than PhilZ (Based on CWM).
The VOL+ key is associated with PhilZ and the VOL- key for TWRP.
To enter recovery, simply turn the device on and when the notification LED turns Magenta (Pink) start pressing the button associated with the recovery you want to use.
e.g. Press VOL- a few times for TWRP.
Flashing zips
Copy your ZIPs to your SD card.
In TWRP, tap the Install button.
Select the zip file you want to flash
Swipe to the right to start flashing.
Rooting
Download the latest SuperSU zip (download.chainfire.eu/supersu)
Copy to SD card.
Flash zip in recovery.
Enjoy root.

Just in general, to flash a zip, you would perform those steps.
You would want to flash the SuperSU zip to get root.
You can also flash the file downloaded from NUT.
It will install a program called NDRUtils which will allow you to reboot into recovery from within Android.
I just saw when I wanted to flash the firmware from your link above (Here is a Generic Germany FTF 10.7.A.0.228.) that this identifies as for device C6603. But I have SPG321.
Do you have a link to a firmware which would work with your way and is for my device?

I think I should just explain how to download and create an FTF for yourself from Sony's servers.
Install the latest Flashtool if you haven't already.
Start Flashtool
Click on the XF icon (The rightnost icon)
In XperiFirm, select the series and model of your device (Xperia Tablet Z > SGP321)
Then select the Market+Operator for your country/region. The market only differs by the apps that are pre-installed, which can be removed. Your region may not have the latest firmware available, so you can click the "Check All" button to get the versions of all the markets. You may wish to avoid commercial Operators as they can have different boot logos etc. Download a "VMo" or "Customized" operator if possible. The 228 firmware is only out in a few regions at the moment, so Germany VMo DE would be a good choice.
After selecting a row for the firmware you want, click on the latest version near the top right corner.
A window will show the details of the ROM. Click Download to start downloading. The downloads will get saved to FlashTool's Firmware Download folder.
Once the download completes, close XperiFirm.
In Flashtool, Click Tools > Bundles > Create.
Select the downloaded folder (Which should be in C:\Users\<Username>\.flashTool\firmwares\Downloads).
Double click in the device field to select the model of your device
Branding should be set to the Operator you downloaded (e.g. Generic DE)
Version should be set to the ROM version (e.g. 10.7.A.0.228)
Then in the folder list, select every item except for .ta files (e.g. cust-reset.ta, fota-reset.ta). Click the -> button to add to the Firmware Content.
Click create.
An FTF file will get created in the firmware folder. You can start flashing it in Download Mode.

Hi, I have a HTC & Asus transformer TF101 and was blissfully unaware that other android devices have convoluted and complicated root / flash procedures, till I was handed my wife's ST15i to root.
I managed to unlock the bootloader and downgrade from ICS stock to gb .42 firmware and rooted using doomlord's zergrush. Then loaded CWMRto the phone (now on .42 gb rooted stock).
I am stuck from here as anything else I flash (custom Rom, upgrade to ICS) gets me to a soft boot (stuck at SE boot logo) or lose root and CWMR on ICS ROM. The help guides, tutorials etc on this forum or elsewhere do not even tell the keypress or tool to use for fastboot, CWMR or how to enter boitloader / recovery. I am no noob on android, adb and rooting, but working with this phone has brought me to tears!
Is the boot IMG and kernel necessarily flashed separately from the ROM on Xperia phones?
My aim is to get to a rooted ICS, non miui ROM for my wife. Please help and /or guide me to achieve this. At this rate, I feel like giving away my HTC to the wife and exchange the Xperia for a more user friendly phone.....

The kernel is seperated from the rom. If you have unlocked the bootloader you can flash a kernel. In most kernels, cwm is included, so you flash the kernel and then you can boot up. While booting you press the volume down button again and again, to come to cwm. There you can install a zip file, in which the rom is.
Are you really sure the bootloader is unlocked? Did you do it by testpoint or sonys official method?
To flash a kernel, you need the boot.img. Before you start flashing the kernel, put the downloaded zip file of the rom on your sd card.
Then, and I would do it like this cause with the normal command line by windows it's the same, you open sony flash tool. There you click on the flash, select fastboot mode and on the right side there is select kernel to flash. There you choose the boot.img. Then you have to shut down your phone, and while you are holding volume up key, you connect phone to pc. There will light up the blue led and flash tool will automaticly flash the kernel. READ THE LOG BEFORE YOU PLUG OFF DEVICE!! If the log is ok (there are no errors), you can plug off device and turn it on. While booting, you press volume down again and again. Then you have to follow the tutorial to the rom (what has to be formatted or wiped and how to install the rom itself. Cause after flashing the kernel, you must install the rom or your device won't boot up!
Okay, now we could do an example:
If you want an ics rom, I would take cyanogenmod 9. Here's a guide:
Download the zip file from here.
Then you extract the zip file, so you have one packed zip file and one unpacked. The packed zip file you copy to your sd card.
In the unpacked, there's a boot.img. If it isn't named boot.img rename it, so it's name is "boot", but windows detects as an image file.
You open sony flash tool and click on the flash, select fastboot mode and then choose "select kernel to flash". Choose the boot.img (make sure it is named boot and it is an image. In flashtool the image you choose should be named boot) and shut down phone. Hold volume up key that the blue led shines, and the kernel is flashed after seconds. Now you are in cwm. There I would do a backup first. When the backup has finished, you make a factory reset and wipe cache partition.
Then select install zip from sd card and choose zip. There you choose the cm9 zip you copied to your sd card. If it finished installing (don't power off device while installing, sometimes you could think it stuck, but normally it won't. Just wait and drink a coffee!) you can reboot device and normally it should work.
YOU DO THAT ON YOUR OWN RISK. FOR ME ON MINI PRO IT WORKED, BUT I CAN'T PROMISE!

That won't work if you have no unlocked bootloader! Do this only if you are sure, the bootloader is unlocked!! If it works, it'd be nice if you could tell me!

Bootloader IS unlocked from SE website. I used the unlocking-relocking toil by quaghi. Wow! So many steps in this phone..... And thanks, CM7/CM9 was also one of my choices, though the wife prefers smulrronic..... Thanks a ton you guys......

Tried all methods, flashtool, adb & fastboot commands, and everytime I get to a softbrick/stuck at bootloader.
Facts:
1. Bootloader is unlocked (unlock method SE official). Checked by *#*# SERVICE(7378423) #*#* & got no output.
2. Am able to downgrade to .42 firmware and root that firmware (stock gb).
From that point onwards, when I try to flash a new kernel (boot.IMG), or a custom ICS ROM (smultronic & real ICS 5.2) I end up losing boot, root and end up at bootloop. It's all as clear as mud!
I suppose I have to relinquish this phone to my wife,while I try to find out a way to get a rooted ICS ROM up and running on the Xperia ST15i. Any help from this community will be gratefully accepted.

Have you tried multiple kernels right now?
Device is ok till I root on .42. Firmware. Thereafter I can't seem to get any custom ROM to boot. After installing CWMR and flashing a custom kernel (x-kernel, krish kernel) & thereafter wipe data, system, cache &dalvik & flash smultronic or clean ICS 1.5 thru aroma, I always seem to end in a bootloop (that too with the gb boot showing Sony Ericsson, not the Sony - Xperia ICS boot). To get back, I have to flashtool the .42 ftf and use the doomlord zergrush exploit to re-obtain root. What am I doing wrong?

You should install Android Android 4.0.4. You have to flash it with flashtool.
NEVER UPDATE OVER THE AIR IF YOU HAVE AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER!!!
So just flash Android 4.0.4 . Download an android 4 kernel like Extended Stock Kernel from here and download the android 4 rom (4.1.B.0.431) for your xperia mini here. Then you download Real Ics from here.
Then flash the kernel in fastboot mode and without restarting flash the android 4 rom in flashmode.The rom isn't rooted, but you don't need to root, cause cwm is included in the kernel! Then restart. If it restarts you can go on. Shutdown and enter cwm.
There you don't wipe anything!!! Don't format system etc!
You just install the zip from sdcard and after the installation is complete and before you reboot you make a factory reset and wipe dalvik cache...
Then you restart.
Normally it should work!

I SOLVED IT!!!! You guys on the Xperia 2011 section are quite unkind to noobs & neophytes. I was wondering... 'After all it is the same Android OS. What can be so difficult in this device?' I did some more research and decided to give it another try:
1. Starting point... ST15i at stock ICS 4.1.B.0.431 firmware with locked boot loader (after a mistaken connection to laptop and SEUS updated to locked boot loader ICS firmware... iI think it is the Sony Smultron WWE equivalent).
2. Ran SE Boot loader Unlocking v1.6 by quangnhut123 (Excellent tool BTW). Got boot loader unlock from SE Official method.
3. While in the same boot loader Locking/Unlocking tool, flashed EXtended Stock Kernel - v2 for 4.1.B.0.431 from fastboot (Blue light, vol up and insert USB?). The kernel is pre-rooted with busybox and has DoomLord's version of CWMR.
4. Viola!!! Root on Stock ICS firmware with CWMR. Here's to you boors who told me that ICS on this phone could not be rooted!!!!

Presently wife prefers stock and wishes only to delete bloat system apps and use hostfiles to block ads.... Hope others find my post helpful to root their devices too....

Hello. As the title says, I need help flashing a recovery to my Sony Xperia Z Ultra (c8606) with unlocked bootloader. I have tried using FlashTool to flash the TWRP img file found on their website. I connect the phone to fastboot mode, click on Select Kernel to Flash, and select the file labeled: twrp-2.8.5.0-togari. The file flashes, but always softbricks my phone (The LED light flashes red when it is plugged in, and holding down the power button only causes the phone to vibrate briefly every couple seconds). This forces me to re-flash a FTF file (C6806_14.5.A.0.242_Customized USA.ftf) to unbrick. I have tried flashing other kernels (108_DualRec_Jackie099) and other FTF files (C6806_14.3.A.0.681 US_Unbranded.ftf), with the same result.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is and what do I do? I want TWRP recovery installed on my phone (preferably the one found on their website), but everything I have tried just bricks my phone.
Please help me!
Okay, this is a bit complicated TWRP must be flashed to the fota partition of the phone, either using the fastboot command "fastboot flash FOTAKernel image.img" or, if you have rooted your ZU, then install an app called Rashr, open it and install TWRP from the app, just follow the instructions BUT it is useless on stock roms because the stock kernel doesn't support loading a recovery from the fota partition, although all AOSP and CM based roms supports it and there also was a stock kernel that supported it, I have forgotten its name. You were trying to flash the recovery as the main kernel but the system obviously can't boot from it, that is the root of the problem, it would be perfect if it were working that way

If you're trying to flash recovery or kernels you can use rashr on the play store. If you want twrp download nuts flushable recovery and flash it with twrp manager on the play store.
So I updated to a new ROM and I have damaged my recover or I need to update recovery somehow.
The ROM launches and I have ADB support but not google play services or root working
I can access my bootloader (blue LED)but I don't know how to fastboot a new recovery from there
When I go to access recovery (pink LED) the recovery never loads. It used to be a CWM/TWRP dual boot, neither are working.
So I am guessing I need to flash a boot.img from the bootloader using fastboot? I can't find any boot.imgs anymore. Just all this one click **** that doesn't work at all for some reason.

Ok, so lots of info here you might want. =)
Yes Bootloader unlocked. I WAS on paranoid ROM kitkat. It pushed a LP OTA update, which silly me, I installed. So right now the phone is on an AOSP based LP ROM, coming from a KK ROM. There was a dual recovery approperiate for that PA KK ROM installed before.
Anyway, I downloaded a recovery from the link you posted and I am currently installing a backup from before I did all these silly and naive things. =p
My next project... How do I go back to stock so I can try a none AOSP ROM? (o:'
two ways :
- you can download a stock rom ftf file from the official thread here, then use flashtools to flash that file (a more complicated version would be to create your own ftf file using xpirifirm and flashtools), OR
- You can download a pre-rooted zip (also available on the forums here) and install that through your current recovery.
Either way make sure you do a full wipe, stock and AOSP don't like each other much from my experience.

1. Go here and download the 23.1.A.1.28 FTF and prerooted zip. (It's the latest stock firmware version) and copy the zip file on your phone.
2. Go to recovery
3. Do a factory reset (wipe)
4. Flash the prerooted zip
5. Shut down your phone (NO REBOOT!)
6. Go to Flashtool -> Flashmode and load the FTF file
7. remove everything in "wipe"
8. on "exclude" tick the following: PARTITION, TA and SYSTEM
9. Click on flash and connect your phone via flashmode and let it flash.
10. Disconnect your phone and start

I'm looking for advice to update to 23.1.A.1.28 Lollipop, I would prefer to do a nice fresh install with the 23.1.A.1.28 UK unbranded FTF file. I updated from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 using the PRFCreator flashable zip. I have unlocked bootloader & would prefer to keep everything stock including kernel.
1. Can I do a full wipe in the dual recovery including wiping the entire internal SD & then flash the flashable zip? Or will the full wipe including formatting the internal SD wipe the recovery?
2. Just flash the 23.1.A.1.28 UK unbranded FTF file using flashtool & check all the wipe options before the flash & then use King root (even though Bitdefender flags it as possible virus when it has never ever flagged any other root exploit before) to root device & then run the latest NuT dual revovery?
3. I only use a couple of xposed modules that as far as I can read are compatible with xposed-sdk21-arm-20150430.zip & the correct steps to install xposed for Lollipop are
I. Flash xposed-sdk21-arm-20150430.zip in recovery after rooting with King root.
II. Install XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha2.apk to manage modules
III. Install Play store fixes & youtube adaway modules in the xposed app. I would like to use Lollipop Navigation Bar module but don't think it is compatible as yet.
The reason I want to do a fully clean install is due to the fact I have found the phone to run a bit slower since updating from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 with the PRF creator flashable zip. This mainly shows in the apps screen which shows the loading bars for about 5-6 seconds & then takes another 10-15 seconds to list the apps & app sizes etc.
Sorry for all the questions, my previous devices were all Samsung so I'm used to full wipe including internal SD & then installing custom Rom.

If you have unlouck bt you can just flash stock in flash tool and flash recovery after that because this best way you didn't have a problem

How would I flash recovery after flashing the FTF file with Flashtool? Can I use flashtool to flash recovery or just use the installer version of NuT's dual recovery?
Would I need to be rooted first before installing NuT recovery?
Another question I have is I still got app updates through the sony update centre app on 4.4.2 with unlocked bootloader but when I updated to 4.4.4 I never got any app updates through update centre at all, had to get them from here or xperiablog. Would relocking the bootloader allow me to get app updates again?
Can anyone else offer some advice? Would like to get this done today\tonight if possible.

on unlocked bootloader :
- Flash ftf using flashtool, once done unplug device
- Get twrp from here : http://dl.twrp.me/sirius, download *.img file - rename file to recovery.img for later use
- go in folder C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib (assuming you installed flashtools in the default place), paste recovery.img in this folder (from previous step)
- Put phone in fastboot mode (hold Vol-up while inserting usb cable)
- hold shift and right-click anywhere in folder (but not on any files) and choose "open command window here"
- in the cmd window that comes up type the following : fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you'll get a short message about the flash being successful, then you can disconnect your phone.
Reboot your phone, once the let light is on during the first Sony screen press the power button multiple times, then you can enter recovery.
This is for Unlocked Bootloader ONLY, I also recommend using @AndroPlus awesome kernel, which includes its own recovery, in this case you can simply flash the kernel and not mess with the recovery, to do this :
- download latest @AndroPlus kernel from here http://dl.androplus.org/Xperia Z2 D6502_D6503_D6543/
- open zip file and extract boot.img from it
- copy boot.img to C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib
- Put phone in fastboot mode (hold Vol-up while inserting usb cable)
- hold shift and right-click anywhere in folder (but not on any files) and choose "open command window here"
- in the cmd window that comes up type the following : fastboot flash boot boot.img

Thanks for the guide you posted, I assume once recovery is installed I can then just flash SuperSU or just flash the flashable zip I created with PRF Creator? Would just flashing SuperSU root the phone?

When I power on the phone there is no LED light & despite spamming the power button it just boots up normally into the first run wizard. The fastboot flash recovery recovery.img command says it flashed it ok as shown in image.
Do you have a D6503 model ? my friend does and his unit does not show the purple led light when booting like my unlocked D6502 one does, no idea why.
Have you tried spamming the vol-up OR vol-down button on reboot ? try this first then go down the kernel road, do the kernel steps, this way you'll 100% get the recovery (I never flashed the recovery image alone before). Once you install the kernel you simply need to press vol-up and you get the recovery.
a couple of things :
when flashing xposed, flash the zip from recovery, wipe cache/dalvik, boot into system, install apk, then from the xposed app do a Soft-reboot, and immediately enter recovery and do a cache/dalvik wipe, then reboot. This is how I usually do it and it's been working for me since .690, so I though I'd share, also I've tried the 2 navigation bar modules from the xposed repo at some point and they both worked, also gravitybox offers many navigation bar mods among other things.
just flashing SuperSU zip from recovery is enough for root, no need for the prerooted zip, you'll just just be reflashing the rom you already have.

Yeah mate it's a D6503 model, have tried the steps several times & the cmd window shows the recovery as being installed but no LED light when booting & the power & volume up & down buttons have no effect either. Ended up flashing the Andro kernel you recommended & the LED was purple when booting & spamming power button got me into recovery.
Even tried adb reboot recovery before I flashed the kernel but still nothing, also for some reason when going through the first run wizard it didn't restore my google backup when I entered google account details.
Starting again from scratch using your guide so fingers crossed
BTW do you know a good sound boosting mod, I was using Sound Mod v3.1 For Z2 Normal.zip on 4.4.4 from this thread or this thread
Will follow your steps for installing xposed framework & app, bit surprised that dalvik would need to be wiped as Lollipop uses ART runtime instead but will play it safe

guess the led thing is kernel related, but I have unlocked the bootloader only 3 days after getting the device, and have been using a custom kernel ever since, so this might be the issue.
I just wiped my device, since I somehow managed to royally fudge it up after the 1.28 update (maybe because I dirty flashed 690, 726, 1.28 on top of each other )
I did excatly what I told you, and i'm now doing a backup before testing some stuff (deodexing app & priv-app, bloatware removal script).
I never use any sound mods, since I mostly listen to audiobooks, so there's not much bass involved , as for dalvik I'm sure the folder exists (under "/", which is the root directory of the device), maybe to use with older apps that are not optimized for ART ? not sure really but better safe than sorry.
Also I recommend entering recovery using vol-up since you have Andro's kernel, since this one is optimized for our device (extra backup options and stuff)
Yeah mate, after flashing the FTF file & then going into fastboot mode & flashing the kernel the LED is purple & pressing volume up gets me into recovery.
I thought I had bricked the phone as I tried to use flashtool in fastboot mode to try & flash the recovery but phone was stuck on the sony logo screen, after panicking for a few mins I used the tiny reset button where the sim card goes & it vibrated a few times, was then able to reflash the FTF & use the Andro kernel
I needed the sound mod on 4.4.4 as I found the ringtone & notification volumes too low & kept missing calls etc when out & phone was in pocket. The mod added back xloud feature that helped boost the volume a good bit. From what I have read here about sony lollipop one of the biggest failings was volumes.
Sure I read somewhere that Lollipop removed the dalvik runtime completely but better to be safe than sorry & wipe cache & dalvik with xposed.
BTW is it ok to use streicson busybox installer to get the latest busybox installed, I know when I uses NuT's dual recovery you couldn't install it as it broke recovery?

The reboot button combination for the Z2 is Vol-up+power button, keep holding them until phone vibrates 3 times, better than looking around for something to push the tiny reset button with
as for busybox, I usually flash a zip, but the busybox app by streicson does the same thing.

I am struggeling with the root process of my XA Ultra F3211 (running 7.0 Nougat) and I just don't find a solution for my problem on the internet.
I hope y'all can help me with this one..
I read several guides how I can manage to root my phone, I think the basic points are the following:
- USB debugging has to be enabled - there's no problem with that one
- bootloader has to be unlocked (if possible) - it is possible for my phone and I did it
- USB drivers have to be installed - i installed the whole Android Studio including the SDK manager where I could choose to install the Google USB drivers
- you need the flashtool (I installed v. 0.9.23.1), a boot.img, a custom recovery.img and magisk or SuperSU
1. then you should flash only the boot_delivery.xml from the Marshmallow firmware in flash mode (I guess you need to do that because it's not possible to root Nougat without this step)
2. afterwards you should flash the boot.img and recovery.img in fastboot mode using a command line and the fastboot commands (fastboot flash boot boot.img / fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
3. after you have done this the custom recovery should be installed and you should be able to boot into it to wipe the phone and flash magisk / SuperSU
That's the road so far.
I've tried these steps but I am not able to boot my Xperia into recovery mode. I think the problem is the boot_delivery.xml because when I tried to flash it from a 36.0.A.2.109 (Marshmallow) firmware (it's named customized_UK, I'm from Germany but I did not find a MM FW for Germany) the flashtool gave me the following information:
- Parsing boot delivery
- No flash script found.
- Flash script is mandatory. Closing session
- Ending flash session
- Flashing finished
I found those lines in some posts on the internet but I did not find any information. Someone said that he copied the default.fsc from the C:\Users\YourUser\.flashTool\devices\F31XX to the F32XX directory and renamed it into device and firmware versions. I did not find any default.fsc in this directory so I copied the one from the F33XX directory and named it "F3211_36.0.A.2.109.fsc" and guess what? I started flashtool and the fsc file was deleted. Even if I created it again while the flashtool was already running the tool never asked me if it should use a script - it just tries to flash and gives me the lines I listed above.
I'm not sure if this is the problem, but flash mode seems to work (the Xperia's LED is glowing green) - so does fastboot mode (blue LED) and for both: no unknown devices in Windows' devicemanager.
Maybe it did already work and I just can't manage to boot into recovery but I tried everything (vol down + powerbutton, vol up + powerbutton, powerbutton and repeatedly vol down or vol up when the screen turns on, hold all three buttons at once) - I think vol down + powerbutton should work, the phone vibrates and shows the Sony logo, I let off the buttons, the screen turns off again, then the Sony logo appears again and the phone starts normally into Android.
Does anyone have an idea what I can try to get my Xperia rooted?
Am I wrong in any point?

@dionarap, if the guide explains that you have to use Flashtool v0.9.23.2 why are you using v0.9.23.1 ?? Update it, download firmwares again from included Xperifirm, use FSC script when asked and all should be fine

When I start XperiFirm (through flashtool) and choose my device (F3211) the only entry for the Market "Germany" is build nr. 36.1.A.1.86 / R1B - according to another post that's also Nougat.
So which firmware do I need and could I choose a firmware for any Market if I only need to flash the boot_delivery.xml? Or can I use a downloaded ftf-file from another source? I found the 36.0.A.2.109 firmware (which seems to be MM 6.0.1) but it's named "...Customized_UK" and the at the download source the region was entitled "Russia" so I'm not really sure if I should use this ftf-file. I can find a firmware 36.0.A.2.109 / R6A for the Market "Costa Rica" in the XperiFirm - should I rather use this one?

You are on the right way
Yes you can know the Android version with the firmware build numbers.
For the MM firmware, you can download it with any customization/build it's not important we only need boot_delivery.xml
For the N firmware, you have to use the same as flashed in the device. You can download (and flash) it with an other customization too, the differences are small like LTE/4G icon, some apps are different like Spotify, Gameloft, AVG and the APN settings can be missing for your network provider (easy to add).
I don't recommend to download firmwares from the web because you will not have the FSC file who is very important to avoid hard brick. There is a way to manually add it but I will not explain how to do because I really dislike this way.

How far did you go? Did you already flash recovery and did you already enter it once? What was your last step before you got the sony screen? I'm not sure if reflashing can harm your phone but I think you should use a firmware downloaded via XperiFirm (it's integrated in Flash Tool). To get a Nougat firmware for Xperia XA Ultra look for build nr. 36.1.A.0.182.
