[Lenovo S650] Help with adware! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having this problem with my phone: Lenovo S650
The virus shows different ads. (Screenshots are given in the bottom)
It also used to install different apps again and again even after uninstalling them,
but then I searched apk files and found 10 apks. I deleted them and then it start showing only ads.
But before I used to have only one ad and now I am having multiple different type of adds and the virus install an app "DeadlyRote". I didn't found its apk...
I think it is attached with ROM because I did the Factory Reset with removing sd card and deleting extra files manually. But it was no use.
What should I do? should I root it and change the ROM? If yes then tell me how...

Do a full wipe
Change the rom/flash the stock firmware
And after starting all over again monitor your every step, like looking into every app you install etc. to not to run this again

I did factory reset before and installed only some apps like Facebook, Chrome, GCloud Backup, WhatsApp...
It is not rooted, should I root it and install another ROM?

ok I'll do it!
The antivirus says that "iKeyboard" app is infected... unInstallation is also unsuccessful... So, I'll root it and uninstall that app

I rooted it using Kingroot and uninstalled iKeyboard... I installed Clean Master and deleted many apks and ad junk.... Then I installed avast and enabled it firewall because the ads were still showing... an app named like "sysfqad" tried to get root access but I disallowed it...
now the virus tried to install "Zipt" app...
I think if I factory reset it, it will be unrooted. but the virus will be there

First of all, those antivirus apps are useless, don't waste your time on them.... Second, seeing your problem I suggest you to do a full wipe, and then flash stock firmware and root and right after rooting uninstall the malware apps, after that monitor your every step and notice everything that you do to not to run into this again..... And to get read of ads use adaway/minminguard(needs xposed framework)

If you go to Definitions, Applications do you see the application in the list? If so, just try uninstalling it. Also, check the "running processes / services" to see if it's active or merely installed and with a shortcut icon in the launcher.
Another thing to try is going to the Market/Google Play and checking "My Applications" with the menu key to see if it's in there and can be removed.
No can't see it anywhere. I can only see the short cut on home screen.

Try using Astro file manager to check system/app. You dont need root to just look, only to be able to change the root files.
if i were you i wont mind installing my stuff again and
1: would have reflashed using odin
2: factory reset my device. (obviously you will be going this path i assume)
factory reset will wipe your phone and internal storage.
i would remove the sdcard as im sure tht is the culprit and has some nasty stuff.

Android is based on linux
Linux DON'T have virus
Will android have virus?
It makes me laugh when people says they use android antivirus. (no offense)
That's not a virus dude, just be sure you dont install untrusted apps with suspicious permissions (like connect to internet permission, or superuser, on apps that dont need it.. now thats suspicious ). Android "viruses" are just apps wich leak your personal information, as credit card numbers, passwords, etc. Not like windows, wich I consideer is a virus itself.
What to do?, dont download unknown apps, and download a permissions manager, so you can check out whats going on. For now a factory reset should fix the issue. If is on other place, then just root and flash another rom.

I have and always have the his for installing from untrusted sources unticked. I also have background data unticked to saves battery. Auto update is off because not all updates are good. I'm not saying it is definitely a virus but the way This app has appeared from thin air; it definitely is suspicious.
I've never rooted or flashed this phone so no chance of superuser.

First and foremost WRONG SECTION.... U think asking question in Original android development section is rite??
BTW stock apps means system apps only... The apps u install from outside is third party apps... U asking abt the apps u installed before or installed after flashing?? Before means obvi it ll be in SD card.. After means it be ll in ROM...

I'm talking about this
that does nothing.
that screen only comes up, when you flashed a stock ICS 4.0.3 rom without wipe. it does not actually install apps, it just scans app folders like /system/app/ and /data/app for already installed apps to integrate in the launcher. maybe it also checks compatibility with android 4. but at the moment that screen shows up, all apps are already installed.
it is just a marketing thingy to pretend to perform app migration after upgrading the OS. if you upgrade through kies and had auto-restart checked and were unable to get to recovery to perform a factory reset prior to the first boot, you will see that screen appear after the first boot "installing" all your apps. then if you reboot into recovery, factory reset the phone and reboot, you will see it only "installs" the few stock apps and all user apps are gone.
this migration, together with not wiping your phone when flashing, will make it slow and unstable over time. it is the same thing with a windows pc. of course one could upgrade the OS, say, from vista to 7, and installed programs and settings might get migrated but in the end, everybody who knows, what they are doing, will still format c: prior to installing a new OS and install the programs afterwards for them to run perfectly.
and all stock apps, that survive a factory reset, wipe are in fact system apps in /system/app
they can still disappear when flashing a new rom.
your best bet is to backup all your apps with titanium backup pro and after flashing a rom or performing a factory reset, you select batch and restore all user apps + data. that way, you can simply install 100+ apps with a few clicks, and their respective settings (scores, customizations...) will be restored as well, which would not be the case with the way you suggested.
so, not only is your way not practical, it is also next to impossible. and it would make no sense, crumming all user apps in the 512MB system partition and leaving the 2GB data partition empty.

sure I'll not put my all apps in the system/app. I made a rom and put my apps in the data/app and after flashing I got all of my applications installed and working too except some of google apps like google+ and drive. I think that screen shows us it's installing the apps not just scanning, because I searched the rom for these apps I didn't find it, so I think it's packed somewhere and I hope to find it

I cannot uninstall system apps even after I ROOTED my android phone

Hi everyone
I managed to root my android phone yesterday (I checked with 2 root-checker apps). Now I'm having trouble removing pre-installed apps like Twitter and Yellow Pages which I never use. I tried few uninstall apps, and after granting them permission from SuperUS, they perform an uninstall (some apps do it forcefully) and give a message that the apps were deleted. The apps are not removed from my application list but when I click on it to run, they give an error message. But when I restart my phone, those apps I deleted start working again as if nothing happened.
What I'm I doing wrong? My phone is HTC One M8, android.
Thank you for any help

Yes, I did that before I rooted it.
I also tried using a File Explorer (rooted version) to uninstall those system app but couldn't find System files. I found a file called Root, but nothing is in the file.

I just tried it now but same problem. I select twitter to delete. It gives me a message that uninstall was successful. I check to see if it's listed on my home page, and it is although when I click on it, it gives an error message. However after restarting the phone, twitter somehow recovers and works again!!! Really strange. It's as if it wasn't uninstalled to begin with.
Does anyone know? I still can't solve it

You need to remove read / write protection. You can do this most easily by flashing a modded kernel (boot.img) through fastboot. Alternatively, there's custom roms that have this already or you can mod a kernel module. There's a guide in the General section of your phone's forum. If you go that route, make sure that the module is compatible with the update you're on as the guide might be outdated.

Did you try to download both the app and the donation package instead of restoring from TiBU?

Install the donation package from Play Store. Then install Greenify from Play Store. Open Greenify from the Play Store option "Open". See whether that solves the problem.
If not, also try clearing cache and data of Greenify and donation package.

If you don't have Play Store, Greenify will not work in donation mode. It needs to check with Play Store that you actually have the donation pack.

There are many reasons why this message appears on your screen when you try to download an application.
The file might have downloaded incompletely
The application may not be compatible with the hardware or your operating system
This is because of a security setting
The APK may be a corrupted file

An APK gets installed by Android's PM ( read: Package Manager ) what is part of ROM. OK.
Personally don't think in actual case the ROM is the culprit: Try installing the APK in question by means of AURORA Store to see whether it's Google Play that works wrong or not.
Hint: Instead of shooting in the dark, get the reason ( for example INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES ) for the mentioned error by installing the APK in question via ADB.
Code:
adb install -r APK_FILE
Note this command utilizes internally PM.
Also a look inside Android's logcat may help. But this requires device is rooted.
You can try reflashing stock rom.. head over to XDA thread..

This is the problem. It is not letting us install any app. We have tried many apps made in 2012 itself. The tablet lags just way too much so it will be a mess to try to install via an ADB. Can't we just flash some other rom to make it atleast usable?
