new firmware for padfone X/S 12.2.2.41 (android 5.1 ?) - Asus Padfone X and S

you can check here, this is the latest firmware, on asus global server
from 15th december 2015.
you can install with new install with twrp or other...

I haven't updated that yet, but according from their own forums it is still 5.0.
It has better memory management ( I believe they updated the memory management tool from boost master to house keeper)
--- that used to be from the zenfone 2 series but now its on the padfone now. (Looks like a step closer to MM)
Gps is able to lock even quicker than before.
Sound quality is also better.
I will update it pretty soon, want to see some problems that arise from this update.
Can't wait for M on this device, but hopefully asus could continue support for this device for the next version of android as Im hoping to have vulcan support on this baby. (Its either that or Cm 14 when it comes out)
Edit:
Just updated this device, supersu was lost but reflashed supersu and works fine.
Performance seems pretty great (not noticing a difference), and memory management is just a bit better.

Doubt it'll be updated past MM. ASUS already mentioned that a Padfone S2 will be coming out sometime in 2016.

Agreed, I think the only reason we are seeing an update this late its product cycle is because they haven't released this new one yet.

Unless more banks and agencies around the world chip in, Android Pay will probably not work.

Latest version ends in .43
And the latest version .43 works dirty flashed over .41, don't see anything new for us yet...

I didn't update the yet because I hadn't had enough time to do so.

hello, my name's Andy.
I'm a fellow Asus padfone user. Recently I've post something in Q&A forum about storage issue.
If not too much trouble, could anyone please look at it. Thank you very much...

Hi,

Possible 6.0 Reference

Hey guys. So as many of you know, 6.0 (M) is going to be released within the next month. I was doing a little research and found that Sprint is testing a new software version. The new build number is different than what the stock version has. Stock version is running 5.0.1/LRX21Y/LS990ZVA. The new build number is now LS990ZVB. This could be two different things. It's either Stagefright fixes (which we still need for the stock firmware) or Android 6.0/M/Marshmallow (whatever you call it, I will refer to it as M). M is supposed to bring many new features including: Doze (better battery saving), Dark UI (Might have been taken out), and the home screen on Nexus devices can be rotated. If you want to check the UAP (User Agent Profile), go here: http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS990-SPRINT/latest it might change before the actual release happens. I will also have a thread on how to root ZVA. It is simple but with the LS990 it doesn't always work with the script that was actually made.
Hoping it's m, because I did read somewhere that lg was skipping 5.1 and going straight to 6

I read that too. I'm hoping so too.
If it follows all the other updates, it won't actually push until it turns to ZVC.
rofl LS990ZVB 100% will not be Marshmallow.
I wouldn't expect that possibility until early next year.
lollipop LS990ZVB source code is now out.
And it's the stagefright fix.
http://support.sprint.com/support/a...:FindAndUpdateTheSoftwareVersionOnYourLgG3#!/
If you have updated to ZVB go here for root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...k-root-zva-t3141390/post61496772#post61496772 use the manual commands to root.
Stagefright
Its just the stagefrigjt patch i think
ZVC now.

January Security Update?

Some reviewers had posted that the January security update was pushed prior to release, but I've had my 5X running since Tuesday and its still on the December patch.
I made sure to manually check for updates just in case and the phone didn't see anything. I'm connected to both data and wi-fi so I'm not sure what is up.
Has anyone received it other than pre-release folks?

See my thread here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/guide-kiw-l24-to-stock-t3318268
Bit of a newbie here, came across this forum when looking at new phones and was quite excited by the idea of being able to play with all that was available in the phone.
So I went and bought a 5x have got my unlock code but have not unlocked it just yet, I am UK based and so have the L21 and just wanted to check that the general consensus is to leave the thing untouched (except for a new launcher and a few apps installed) until I have received or somehow updated to the B140 update.
I couldn't work out in the other thread about returning to stock if the B140 for the Kiwi 21 had actually been released yet, couldn't find any downloads on the Huawei site for the UK.

[INFO] Nougat on A2017G (+ other models)

Thought i want to give some additional info (if not known already) reagrding the N update coming for the A2017 models.
Today i had some FB conversation with ZTE Mobile Germany to ask some definitve answers for this update to come.
This is what they gave me :
1. When : end of january 2017
2. Which types : all of the types/models get a specific update
3. OTA or SD ? : will be an SD card update (so happy ROOTing guys, because imo the OTA updates are no longer coming after this upgrade to N)
4. Bootloader unlocked : NO (perhaps the advice to unlock it before the N update to be sure you have it unlocked)
5. Root option available in settings : NO
6. test version or the real stuff : REAL STUFF
7. DayDream supported : coming soon (https://vr.google.com/daydream/phones/)
Good news after all i think. Let's wait a little bit longer :cyclops:
@rikin93 can you confirm all of that information ? Especially about bootloader unlock ?
Here is the message
cheers !
ps : so all models get a seperate N - update
@raystef66 i believe you but @rikin93 is our ZTE Europe insider and few weeks ago he said that he got beta Europe unlocker so I wish to hear his position about your statement.

Well we certainly see that here in the forums. If this is true, it will be good for them to learn.
I dont know what version the root and bootloader unlock is coming on so i will find out ASAP.
However, Nougat should be coming by the end of this month and a B10 update end of this week/next week.
And yes i was previously on a B03 bootloader unlock/root given to me by ZTE to test out and was working fine. My camera broke so i had to get replacement phone so i am off root for now till they release the official one so dont worry guys i will keep bugging them for information!
An SD update is not difficult, just move the update.zip file to root directory of sd card and then go into Settings->Update and the update will be listed there and is straightforward from then on.
B10 is indeed scheduled coming week.
Just got the phone
So, on yours opnion should I unlock BL/Root/xposed right now? Since it`ll be an SD update??
just got my A7 and started reading only today bout unlocking BL/rooting (done this in all my old phones before).
Thanks!

Of course they would all need a separate update -- the modems would all be different. What would be more important would be that some (U and G and maybe Chinese) are based on the same codebase, rather than separate ones. Then the updates would roll out with similar features in a similar time frame.

what? ok it's true most of axon 7 owners are power users but it's not how it should be done at all... OTA is the easiest way to notify your clients of your work, general and security improvements, you don't want them to bother on manually installing updates, you try to make sure everyone is up to date.
If this is true, I hope they mean for the time being, before rolling the update to everyone after through OTA. I don't read german so I can't really know if there are subtleties involved in the syntax.
By the way, weren't there a kind of community forum for european/german model through which we could communicate with the devs in english? or by email?

My comment was in the context of general public. There are far more axon 7 in the hands of layfolk than xda users. An ota is the simplest way to push an update through. While the steps are simple, i'm confident people will find ways to screw up copying a file to the sd card.

Hopefully the removal of the update has something to do with the v2 bootloader. When you update to ARC6, you can't go backwards from that point, or at least currently. The v1 bootloader in ARBG is a lot more flashing friendly.

Unfortunately, this doesn't matter in my case as I have the Snapdragon variant. Jailbreaking Apple devices is easier than dealing with Samsung's BS these days; however, I couldn't give up the ability to expand storage with an SD card.
I've been hearing a lot of people complaining about dropped calls on the ARC6 update. I never experienced it myself while on ARC6 but I'm on ARDA now.

Mine is a SnapDragon model also. Although based on older information and models. I am hoping we get a V3 bootloader for those who are stuck on v3 that can be upgrade and then downgraded. The Note 8 bootloader is possible to flash backwards for some reason. Because we are on the 845 though, it will probably take a little time for someone to figure out who to get it to successfully flash backward. The call dropping issue on some firmware versions also is a problem that doesn't exist on other firmware variants. I had the call dropping on 1ARC6 but not on 1ARBG. That might have slipped into the firmware with the v2 bootloader. Whatever the reason, the Samsung community has a lot of development and cross-flashing activity that will hopefully get this figured out soon.
I came from a V30, which is much more of a mess to even attempt to flash anything other than what the current firmware is could potentially leave you hard bricked. Outside of Nexus and Pixel devices, I find Samsung in its current state more cross-flashing and mod friendly than some other manufactures. I have never used an Apple device to know how easy or difficult they are to jailbreak or what that means in comparison to what we do with modded, bootloader unlocked, and cross-flashing devices on the Android side. The locked down Apple ecosystem will always keep me away from their platform.

Yes, starting with the 2018 models, or maybe only with the Z3 since it's the most expensive ones. Or do you really believe that our one year old phone will get updates that quick? They are not Pixels and knowing the update strategy of Lenovo for the past couple of years and without treble we can be lucky if we even get it this year. or have you forgotten the Oreo update? And it wasn't even to 8.1, just 8.0
I am still on 7.1.1 Nougut. According to support, I am on the latest update. But on 08/31 they claimed they are behind, but it is coming soon.
Shouldn't the all be the same regardless of software channel, build number, SKU, Version, etc.? They are all Moto Z2 Play. Mine is even unlocked so I would think that would be a benefit.

Same here. I have no idea why my phone won't update. I have it unlocked and rooted with Magisk, but won't it still detect the update and try to download it? I just need to unroot first and flash it and it should be just fine I thought. But nope, still on 7.1.1 with the February 2018 security patch. I'm on software channel retus. It depends on carrier. Although, if you ask them, carrier will say it depends on Moto; but truth is, it isn't. As far as I know, AT&T Latin America released (or it was Moto?) 8.0 Oreo in August, which has been already updated up to September, 2018. Next should be 9, but... Yes, 8.0 was released same time as 9 for Pixels, a full year after Z2 device landed. So, statistically, 9's OTA should be inside AT&T's Z2 devices, late in 2019. That would be another year, probably along with 10's appearance! but... Maybe not. Who knows what's in their heads. Point seems to be keeping OTA fans (don't count me in) eager as hell.

For this device to be updated to 64bit, it would require formatting, users would lose all their stored data. How well do you think that would go over with the general public?

That is a fair point. Although it's fairly easy to backup data on a phone with SD card, not everyone will like it. I had Asus zenfone 3 which came with 64bit OS despite 3GB of RAM and camera 2 API was enabled so the Gcam and hdr+ worked without root. Thought Z2 play with 4GB RAM, better camera sensor and stock Android will be even better. I was wrong.
