My G-Tablet is gone... What next?

My G-Tablet had the horrible hissing audio problem so I took it back to my local staples for a refund. Amazingly enough they took it even though I bought it in November.
So what should I get next with my staples credit... They have the Moto Xoom, Blackberry Playbook, and will soon have the Dell Streak 7 and Acer Iconia Tab.
Buy my new in the box Gtab of course. #2 of 2 I got from woot.
I thought staples pulled these puppies months ago.
They did... I bought it 6 months ago
If you can Wait for the Samsung 10.1v
Ive had a play with it and its prob the perfect tablet ever.....
Size/Wieght/Screen/Design
Its really good.
Only bad thing is no USB or Sd card slot, it has the dock connector for those things.
I think the Asus Eeee Transformer with keyboard dock for $550 is pretty sweet.
I am leaning HARD toward the Iconia A500
I would love the Asus Transformer but Staples is not carrying it and they gave me store credit.
Currently leaning toward the Acer Iconia

Holy moly, they took it back after 6 months? Cool!
Yeah I was quite surprised. I checked online with their Chat Support when I was at work and then returned it on the way home. If that didn't work I was going to have to go through the lengthy repair process with US Merchants.

There are a lot of stores that will take back products without receipt. I used to work at office depot about 6 years ago and we would take just about anything back without receipts. The catch is that you get store credit and that you get the lowest value for the product in the system. So if the device was on sale at some point you get the sale price in a refund.
I actually had the receipt... I was just surprised they took it back after their 14 day return period.
After Gtablet - you should get the Asus Transformer - Iconia is too heavy, too thick and their stock apps are not that useful.
I could see myself with Asus Transformer without rooting, nvflash, backup/flashing/re-flashing..etc.
Even though I will keep my Gtablet for the life of $100/2 year Accidental damage and good for my 3-year-old down to play games on it - anything happens to my Gtablet within 2 years even my daughter breaks it - I will get the brand new gtablet or equivalent!
Howver for myself, Asus Transformer will be my next Android tablet - looks so cool and almost no need to download anything else - such Polaris Office, stock widget, stock youtube widget, calendar onscreen rolling...etc and MyNet, unlimited cloudstorage - patience, patience and patience - Sept 1st will be good time to buy - at that time, the tablet maybe $349
And who knows 4 more months - XDA will have Gtablet ROM HoneyComb 3.0 ....
thx
I voted Playbook, but I've been following it since day one. Got the chance to mess around with it a bit at Office Max and fell in love. Seemed like such a durable, well-built device. Just hate how it loads web pages rather slowly :/

For the price point wouldn't it make sense to just buy another G-Tablet?
Unless you don't like it?

Well I have Staples credit and Staples stopped carrying the G-Tablet.
I voted Dell, because it makes teh bar graph look better.
Pretty much any HC tablet would be nice.
Im looking forward to the sony tablet... whenever that is.

Should I pick one up for $250?

Is $250 (CAD) a good deal for this tablet?
I have a Moto Atrix as my smartphone, rooted.
I am interested in tablet for watching videos at home and reading pdfs and ebooks and suchm, as well as playing games.
I believe it is already running g-tab-comb but I would want to update it with something more recent.
I have the opporunity to get this or a dell streak 7 (sealed) for $250.
Is there still good dev support for this tablet? How does the future of it look
i had the gtablet, but sold it. Now with the Android market not showing the G tab on the website, I am sure glad that I sold the G tablet. Get the tablet that has paid the license to Google and has the real market (imho), in otherwords not the Gtablet.

Maybe....for now. But it appears the GTab is being fazed out of Google Market.

You'd still be able to access the market via the app on the Gtablet itself. you just wouldn't be able to remotely install apps onto your tablet via the market website on a computer.
I use a GTablet (with FlashBack 10.0) I access the Market several times a day. I am able to download new apps, update older apps. No-- my device is not listed, but nevertheless I am able to use the Market.
I had been using an older version of the Market App, and with that I could not get new apps. I could update older apps just fine, but it would NOT download a new app: NO DEVICE. With the new Market App, I have no problems.

I sold mine a while back also. I would put that $250.00 towards something that might have a chance at some ICS love.
The Gtab's screen is great for video, but an IPS screen on a higher end tablet is a must for extended ebook reading. Also the market issue is very minor in my opinion.
I picked mine up less than a week ago, put FB 10.0 on it and I am already selling it and moving to a Transformer or Iconia. The display has really bad viewing angles, other than that it isn't too shabby.

I saw that today as well. (well my wife did). Still only $100 off a 16GB version, I told her not that great of a deal.
To the OP, my advise is not spend one dime with Viewsonic. They abandoned this product 3 months after it's release. Viewsonic has been nothing short of horrible regarding the GTab and it's customers that spent the $300-$400 last winter. I have a perfect one for $200 if you really want one, $225 with dock. It is rooted and running TNT lite 4.4.

HP Touchpad with Android? I didn't know that could be done. I know they were selling for $99 when they went belly-up. I would say go for it. Shipping would only be about $25 if you really want the GTab. I am also selling my Asus TF101 32GB getting ready for the TF201 32GB but that will be twice as much with keyboard dock.

Yup Cyanogen got CM7 running on it
Decisions, decisions..
Don't take it. Bunch of people complaints about HP touchpad with android on it.I pay my viewsonic $250 (4 days ago) and my friend pay $150 for his HP touchpad - I still like my deal and product more (didn't like stock tom). I can access market using Vegan rom and I can even backup apps on my phone and transfer them to g-tab.

I all you want is a decent 10" tablet running Gingerbread or Honeycomb at a low cost then gtab is one to consider. If you want ICS then you will have to get the lastest tablet (not yet available) with a killer cpu and lots of ram.
So your choices are
1. Low price 10" or 7" (nook color II or Amazon Fire)
2. Medium price 10" like a Acer Iconia, Toshiba or Asus Transformer
3. High price 10" currently being developed for the ICS (New tranformer quadcore etc)
Good luck and have fun.
Woot.com has the Motorola Xoom 32Gig Wifi for $329 today....
And Motorola has stated that the Xoom will get ICS early 2012.
Advantages over Gtablet..
32gig vs. 16gig storage
1280x800 vs. 1024x600 resolution
1 gig vs. 512 meg ram
GPS, Barometer, front and rear cameras
Better viewing angles
Official Google support/Motorola support
Android OS 3.2.1 with stated upgrade to Android OS 4.0
FYI...I have two Gtablets and an Xoom. I'd take the Xoom every day over the Gtablet.

[Q] Need Help Protecting My Prime

I need help protecting my Prime. So my daughter is always asking to "Play" with my Prime..I just can't let that happen..not yet. Yesterday she turned 9 and she received a whopping $400 in cash from friends and family, now she wants to buy a tablet like mine. I would like to keep it Android of course and around $300 -$350. Her mom has a Kindle Fire ,but the UI seems a little to difficult for her to navigate (Carousel). She does have experience playing with her mothers Samsung Fascinate phone and I see that Best Buy has the 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab on Sale this week. Is that a good option in your opinion? Or should I go after an Original Asus Transformer or maybe something else?
Your opinions are appreciated, and I Thank You....so does my ATP

We gave our 3 year old our Dell Streak 7, and bought our daughter the Vizio tablet for Christmas, that way they no longer ask for our two new primes.
Make sure you buy one with Gorilla glass. Also, the nook Tablet is $199 and is far superior to the Kindle Fire. Great choice for a 9 year old.

Nook Tablet all the way. bought one for my girlfriend for christmas. she kept asking to see my prime... and at 23 yrs old, she just doesnt have the maturity to handle it yet (god i hope she doesnt secretly troll XDA) lol
i rooted her Nook Tablet, and stripped the Barnes and Noble UI in favor of straight gingerbread, then got her golauncher set up how she likes. kindle fire seems to have more support, but the Nook has better hardware all around.

TF300T for $279 - yay, me!

Best Buy has the black TF300T for $279. Ordered online last night, picked up this morning at 8am when they opened.
I have a Kindle Fire that I installed a new ROM on to make it an Android tablet, but I'm 60 years old and .... it was kinda small. I envied my wife's iPad for it's screen real estate. But didn't want an iPad. This, I think will do nicely.
Lol, welcome to the club. I have a feeling you're going to love your new tablet!

Yesterday i went to best buy and purchased 2 of these. 1 for me and 1 for my fiance. I was between this and the toshiba excite 10 and ultimatly chose the Asus because of the developer support for it. The Toshiba still hasn't been able to root yet so i didn't want to chance it. I wanted to find a device that would last me a while and would get Firmware upgrades via developers should the Asus decide to stop supporting it. Needless to say im loving it.
yay
Congratulations on the tablet. I went to Visions yesterday and got one for $278 and managed to charge it fully by noon and then drained it to less than 12% by early evening.
They charged me an environmental fee of 7.28 also + tax.
I'm pretty happy with it except for the proprietary charging connector.
I got the blue one.
Enjoy. Cant believe they have come down in price this much. I paid £400 ($650) less than a year ago
Put on CleanRom and you'll love it
I just ordered mine from Best Buy for $279 and the keyboard for $99. It was a steal.
I own a Nexus 7, so this will be interesting. Same processor though.

Got mines the day after christmas too at best buy. They have an exclusive deal with the black model thats why it's so low. I was using an archos 80g9 until this and before that Nook tablet CM Team A, Acer A500(in decending order). This is easily the best of any tablet I've used let alone owned. I almost dont wanna use a custom rom cuz I don't wanna mess anything up lol. I love this thing though, cant wait to get the keyboard.
Hi!
For me it was a pretty well deal , purchased in august for 350E , and Keyboard for 110E !

Its actually pretty easy to flash recovery. As far as root, I just went ahead and flashed a custom ROM that was already rooted.
There are some great tutorials in here that explain step by step what needs to be done. I had recovery on mine with a custom ROM in about 10 or 15 minutes. That included all the reading . Lol.
Word from the wise, use TWRP instead of CWM.

I told the cashier and had to walk back to show here the 279 tag. she ended up taking the tag back to the register and saying that the offer was over but she would honor it because it was still marked as 279. Still waiting for it to fully charge. selling my nexus 7 and kindle fire tomorrow. hated not having a sd card slot.

Had a similar experience at bestbuy. I checked online the day before and it was listed at $279. Got to the store a day later and they said they were not aware of the tablet ever being priced at $279. They insisted that the price was always $299. Asked them to check the website, but that was changed to $299. I insisted that the price was listed at $279 for about a month and asked to speak to the manager, five minutes later the sales person came back a and said the manager would honor that price. Persistence pays off. So far I`m really loving this tablet, coming from a Galaxy Tab Plus 7

The TF300 is a fantastic tablet. After holding a couple of iPads you really appreciate its light weight, and after hacking away at a few onscreen keyboards you really appreciate the keyboard dock. I find I am liking mine more the longer I own it.
I got the same deal. Pretty sweet.
It's only 16gb, I guess, but I already have a 32gb SD for my phone anyway, so I can always transfer that to the tab if need be.
i got a blue 16gb on amazon for $195 after Christmas sale. i couldn't pass that deal up. then i got a black keyboard dock from bestbuy for $49.99 last week. loving this tablet and love that it cost the same as my nexus 7!

Kindle 8.9 just died, recommendations

As it says, my kindle 8.9 just gave up the ghost. It reboots over and over and I tried several things but nothing works.
I'm a big amazon user so it will have to be another tablet from amazon. Any recommendations? Thanks

Tough break. Think you probably have a handle on the various hardware options from Amazon. Things aren't looking great for 4th gen HDX or 6th gen HD if root is a requirement.
Also consider a refurbished/used 3rd gen HDX (now that all can be unlocked/rooted) which can sometimes be had for cheap on auction sites or Amazon Warehouse.
Nevermind

Davey, what do you think about the 5th generation kindle 8--looks like it has root but no development?

Candidly I would take a 5th gen Fire (7" budget model) over an HD8. While paper specs are ominous device is quite snappy with Nexus or CM 12.1. No root restrictions but must use FlashFire to install custom ROMs (bootloader remains locked so no TWRP). Screen is fine for pics and video; acceptable for casual browsing. I would stay away if you do a lot of text based work. If located in the US look for bargains later this week; price will likely drop below $35 USD for a few days.
HDX is really the best of the crop until (if/when) an exploitable vulnerability is identified for the competitively priced 6th gen HD8. If a stable root solution is found I think that will draw in the development community. Unlike the Fire 7 5th gen HD8/10s were not an especially good value. Good luck!
