How can I see DND status on lock screen? (v5.0.1, Samsung S6) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have spent ages googling and none of the descriptions work.
This is my current lock screen:

I would like something on it which reminds me that I have Do Not Disturb active.
The phone is rooted but otherwise it came from amazon.co.uk, sim free. It may be an import from Germany.
Amazon traders sell stuff from all over the place; I believe this phone came from Germany. But, like a lot of Amazon stuff it may be a grey import.
Apparently the lock screen is supposed to show some icon when DND is active, but mine always looks like this.
I can't see where the potential config can be. For example under Notifications / Applications there is a long list of apps and which notifications are OK to show for each one, and that might be a starting point, but there is no "app" for the DND feature.
There is a lot on google and a lot of people are trying to solve this.

What do you use for Notifications?

Coming from a LGv20, where I used the following combo: Cute little bar at the top showed time & an icon for missed notifications (similar to the Always On Display), and an app called Dynamic Notifications.
The idea on the 2 of those, was: If I got a notification while I was able to look at my phone, Dynamic would show it to me, along with a preview of what the message is. You can slide to open it, ignore it for now, or delete it (depending on the app). If I wasn't looking at my phone, I'd at least see an icon on the top bar so I knew to go look.
AOD does fine for the time & you missed a notification, but when I get one, and my phone is sitting next to me, it's annoying to unlock the phone to check the notification.
Sadly, AOD & Dynamic notifications don't seem to work well together.

Now when the phone is on, I'm not getting my heads-up notifications, and I don't know i the LG did it on its own..o what. So I'm using an app called Heads-up at the moment. Heads-up also has a turn-on-phone feature, so I'm testing it and AOD display as a combination.
Oddly though, Go SMS isn't working with Heads-up, and I'm not always getting the Go SMS built in popup.

SO.. what is everyone doing for notification, both with phone on & off?
One last thing - edge lighting - looks neat, but I never put my phone face down. Would kind of kill AOD anyway, no?

Is there a (free) app that can block notifications for specific apps?

I know there's DND, but that's not the same. I literally just want to turn off notifications from certain apps at night so that I can wake up in the middle of the night, turn on the screen, and see if notifications from like one or two specific apps have arrived, while ignoring all others. So far everything I've found is either a weird spammy app or some annoying complex paid thing that cost like $10.
Any suggestions?

Notifications During Active Call

Hi guys. I just switched from Apple land and trying to get used to the Android ecosystem since I've been using iPhones since the iPhone 4.
The biggest pain point for me is getting a handle on the notifications. Apple gave you a lot less control over what you see so I'm a bit overwhelmed with the amount of control for SOME apps (I guess it depends on how granular the developer makes it for the users).
My current obstacle is receiving notifications while in an active call. I spend most of my work day in meetings so it's important to see notifications showing up in real time. When I'm on a call the notifications are causing a vibration or alert but there is no popup to indicate which one just came in. When I slide down the notification center I don't think the notifications are sorted by date/time so I have no idea which one just came in.
1) is there a way to force notifications to pop up on screen even when I'm on a call so I can glance at what it's about?
2) is there a way to sort notifications based on date/time so I can make sure the topmost one is the most recent?
3 bonus round) does anyone have a good solution for more iOS like notification bar that looks less congested and confusing (this is one of the only things I miss about iOS)
Thanks.

Question regarding the Always On Display (Screen Clock?)

I'm looking at getting a new phone, and the Find X has really caught my eye. One thing that's putting me off though is that I can't seem to find a straight answer about the AOD/Screen Clock.
Basically, it's almost a must for me to have an always on display which shows notifications. I find some answers online that suggest that it can show notifications, and other which suggest it can only show missed calls/texts.
Now I don't mind if each type of notification isn't it's own icon (for example Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Twitter), I would be fine with a "4" showing if each of these had a notfication, but I do need this "4" or something similar on the AOD screen.
So, is there any indication of notifications from these apps on the AOD display? And confirm it on the Chinese Version/Global Version/Both?
Thanks.

Multiple issues.

I was wondering if anyone had solutions to any of these issues:
Double clicking the "recents" button doesn't go the last app, it just acts like I hit the home button once, minimizing everything. Likely fixed by a software update (before 4/29).
The dual screen does NOT abide by my LG Game Settings for apps (resolution and frame rate). I have games set to lower resolution, but they always run at high resolution on the left screen. Even if I swipe an app with lowered resolution from the main screen to the dual screen.
When the phone is locked and I go to expand a notification but don't fully expand it, it slips back but my whole screen becomes unresponsive for a couple seconds.
Some apps have rounded corners from the screen and it's harder to see/click on things that are right in the corners.
Mostly importantly, I can't figure out how to get *any* sort of visual notification on my lock screen. When the screen is locked and off I get audio notifications for everything (messages, emails, etc.), but there is no visual indication whatsoever. The screen doesn't come on, light up for a couple seconds, show the notification appearing, nothing. AND I turned on the bubble notifications and sidelight options in App Notifications -> Notifications -> Brief Notifications. But neither of these works. SOLVED: Ugh, apparently immediately underneath those two options is a list of apps to apply this to. Which I guess is neat? I just want it for all apps. Either way, the default for this happens to be NO apps. So I enabled the apps, this one's solved.
NOTE: I am on the very first update version. I have updates disabled, as I usually do with phones, to keep it on the lowest revision for possible rooting purposes. So if any of these issues has been fixed by one of the (almost always useless) security updates, let me know. THANKS!
I had the same issue with the recent button, and I gave up after searching up and down for a setting or something. then it just fixed itself, which probably means an update. currently running most recent software updates.
Awesome, thanks, I'll mark that one as "solved" in a sense. I have access to a few other phones on the same Android version that don't have the issue, so I figured it was phone specific.
