Request: APP or Guide to disable HDMI Checks for Android Apps - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyone that can write an app that removes HDMI checks for Android streaming apps that don't work on eg. Android tv boxes that has an HDMI Out connection?
Eg. You decompile an app and then nthe app can search the files in the decompiled app folder for HDMI intents and help you to remove them.
Or the app could run on Android and allow you to disable certain intents for selected apps like android.intent.action.HDMI_PLUGGED or HDMI_AUDIO_PLUG
like Autostart Manager in ROM Toolbox Lite app(that don't work correctly).
On KitKat there was an app called HDMI Virtual Switch that could hide the state of an HDMI connection.
http://freaktab.com/filedata/fetch?id=545672
But on Lollipop firmware that file's value gets changed back to a 1 immediately after you save it again.
echo "0">/sys/devices/virtual/display/HDMI/state
As soon as I do this it changes, but when I open the file, it jumps back to a value of '1' and is then disabled again.
The app will need to change this file and keep it like that without Android system changing it back to '1' automatically.
Or is there another solution to solve this problem?
The app can perhaps also try to remove
Proxy and VPN checks &
ADB Checks

Watch ABC

for HDMI checks?

I'd also like an app like this. I have fire TV and trying to run Brighthouse TV app through it won't run because of being hooked to television through HDMI. I have a brighthouse subscription just trying to get away from paying $30 a month for their boxes, remotes etc

Anyone that has any tips on disabling HDMI checks? I'm sure there are lots of talented people here and there are lots of apps with HDMI checks that just won't work on Android TV Boxes.
The DirecTV app is a good example

Use SoundAbout app from playstore u can choose default route sound from speaker, hdmi, Bluetooth etc..etc.. like control panel on windows

[Q] android to wii streaming?

hi all I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get videos from android to the wii (hacked of course). I have tried to just plug in a usb cord in the back like I do for my psp but every time I go into an app for watching movies it wont show my phone. I know I can just take the sd card out but its a real pain to take the back off my phone and the case I have on it too. anyone have any ideas (besides taking out the sd)?
i'm wondering the same thing, they both have bluetooth, so maybe there's a way to stream music/video from android onto it that way? even if that isn't possible, is there a way to trick the wii into thinking it's a linux computer, and stream via wifi? (wiimc should be able to identify it at that point, no?)
i doubt anyone's going to bother trying to get this to work : (
What about a dlna server and wiimc? Does it work?
Or set up samba filesharing on android and connect from wiimc?

Yes it's completely possible (and without wires) to stream videos off your rooted Android to your modded Wii. I'll see about writing up a full guide ...
[Guide/How to]Android/Wii wireless networking solutions | Stream videos and transfer/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2576185
... for now though I'll assume you'll want to know how I did it quickly
1. Download and install WiiMC to your Wii if you've not already done so.
www.wiimc.org
2. Download and install FTPServer to your rooted Android
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lutey.FTPServer
Edit 12172013- this next suggested app should replace the previous
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nalic.app.wifishare
WiFi share is far more stable to use with the Wii ... Well for streaming with WiiMC it works but for WiiXplorer I've yet to get this app to work.
3. Set up FTPServer to point to the folders you want to share
- check the box to restrict access to other folders
- set user name and password
4. Connect your Android device to a wireless access point, for this I used an old rooted phone that has the Hotspot function but no data connection to the outside world, but you can use a wireless router instead.
5. Open FTPServer again and start the service.
6. Now to pick up the Wii mote and set up a FTP connection
- Finger up to the gear symbol, click it, and finger down to Network
- Add a new FTP (it's the option that isn't smb) and input the info from the FTPServer app; IP-address, port, username, and password.
Note: don't worry about setting a folder path in the WiiMC screen we're in right now because FTPServer will take care of this if set properly.
- Back out of the setup screen on WiiMC and finger over to the Film icon (on the far left of the screen) and you should see your new connection, click it and enjoy browsing and playing almost all your videos on your Wii.
Somethings to note; it's kinda finicky on showing anything in a directory so just press B and A on your Wii mote till it works, high resolution videos don't work well so keep it 480p or bellow, I'll say it again its really finicky so try restarting each device's connection or software one at a time till things start working.
I realize this question is from a little wile ago but felt that this answer would benefit us all. I don't know if streaming music or pictures wirelessly from Android to Wii works but video works once a directory is loaded. I'll be testing other apps, options, or crafting my own solutions shortly to work out why folders don't always show content but for right now (just got it working a few hours ago and have been watching all sorts of formats) it's great for proof of concept and home use.

[Q] HDMI out blocked in some apps

Was wondering if there is any kind of root mod/hack to allow HDMI out when it is blocked by the specific app? For example, I can stream video from many apps out through an MHL-to-HDMI adapter to my TV perfectly. Other apps (like the ATT Uverse app) issue an error popup that says HDMI out is unsupported.
Is this something the app must explicitly support, or is the app specifically blocking this feature, and if so, is there a ROM or hack out there that I can load to overcome this?
S-off running a rooted stock ROM currently..
Thanks.

[DEV] Stop sound from official Radio, Mediaplayer, DAB, etc

Hello,
I'm trying to write a mediaplayer application for the MTCB. An issue that I'm not able to solve now is to stop the music from the other stock applications when my application start.
Does anybody has an idea about how to do that ? Seems that's not a possibility to use audio focus ...
Any help will be much appreciated.

You should try and PM Booroondook. Below is a Google-translation of his post on this matter:
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The developers originally wanted to make a device completely replaces the car's radio. Moreover, up to the most complete simulation interface to motorists who allegedly used to. In addition, radio conceived such that it immediately ( "out of the box") would perform all the functions inherent in the car radio. Therefore it developed a set of so-called "factory" of applications that simulate the function of "advanced" regular radio - "Radio", "a DVD", "Music", "Video", "Photos", "the iPod," "Handsfree Bluetooth". By this set has also been added to the navigation functionality - as Application- "starter" selected by the user of the navigation program.
More precisely, mutual exclusion - integration system has been created for these applications. You work, "Radio", you run the "Music" - "Radio" is turned off. Launched the "Video" - disconnected "Music." And so on. It has even invented a special function (called by the MODE key), switching these applications in a circle - by analogy with the head unit.
These applications (according to developers) would have to cover all the needs of the motorist. And the Android operating system was the basis of fashion or marketing reasons, or both.
All would be good, but the developers have not considered (or ignored) the fact that the Android OS allows you to install additional applications. These additional user-installed applications do not "fit in" with the original logic of the functional simulation regular radio.
We take your specific example. You factory application "Music" chose a third-party, the establishment of additional "Google Music" app. It is clear that it is your choice to which you are entitled. But the developer is not able to assume that you install this application - and therefore your "Google Music" is not involved in "switching system" applications and "dampens" the other application.
What's in this case? Either put up with such behavior (ie, do not forget to manually turn off the "Radio" before turning on the "Google-Music"), or you can use some tricks to automate this business - good Android OS lets you do things with the help of supporting applications and system modules.
Members of our branches also have repeatedly faced with problems similar to yours. Force enthusiasts have developed tools that optimize the behavior of third-party applications such as media players.
Do not be lazy, look at the cap, there is a lot of links. Note the module Car Audio Service, as well as a set of tools from a reputable MVG-V70.

Could you please elaborate? I'm having the same issue, however I want to apply this behaviour to already existent apps, eg. Google Play Music (to pause everything else when Google Music starts)... Does your solution apply to my case and how should I procceed? Thank you so much in advance!

I think one solution is to write a very simple application with just the mentionend code Inside. Then use tasker, and when you launch Google Play Music ask him to launch the small program before.
I can build the small app for you if you want to try ?
For my media player it's not working 100%. I'm able to cut off the sound when I launch my app but when I want to launch again the stock radio , it dosen't actually stop my mediaplayer since I can't get any notification Inside my app from the stock app.

What do you mean that you cannot get any notification?
What I've been doing till now is create a custom app using tasker (with a plugin called App factory, since my knowledge in programming doesn't go so far) and in fact use the created app to force close the radio app before launching, in my case, Google Play Music. But then, when I launch the radio app (or even the Bluetooth app)again, Google Play Music stops... So every shortcut of my preferred music app or even the mode.ini I use for the Xposed module I need to cycle through hu modes using my swc is associated not with the actual app, but with one custom made to suit my needs. Of course is kind of a mess, but so far haven't found anything better and working... Could you suggest anything better? Do you believe that there's an easier way for my case? Thank you so much for your help..!?

What I mean, there is no communication between stock app and let's say a regular android app. I mean, when you launch a stock app, there is no way (at least I didn't find it) for another regular app to know that you launch the stock one.
In fact what I want to do is that when I launch my media player it stoppes the Stock app (This goal is reached) but then when I launch again a stock app, it should stop my mediaplyer app (Actually it just put the sound done. To sumarize what I want is that each time I bring an app in fordeground it should stopp all other (Music player). In fact it's the case between the stock media player and the stock radio.
So I think so far we are both at the same place

My work on XMTC ceased a while back, but what was posted above was correct at the time. The audio output was controlled by the MCU, and triggered via different AudioManager object parameters.
The problem is, all Android app-based audio is done via 1 MCU output (av_channel=sys IIRC). So anyone designing an app would have to determine what the current av_channel parameter is set to. The stock MTC apps do that sort of (they just assume the newly-launched app is taking over audio control, and switches the av_channel).

That was pre @7floor audio mod which bypasses the MCU and gives Android control of the audio IC, I wonder how XposedMTC works with that ? Not heard any one say that I remember.

Does this code work as it is?
It is a java code isnt it?
You said it worked for you to cut the audio from stock apps, but inside there is the option to enable it as well? I don't understand?
I would like to stop dvd using this code in tasker. I assume I have to change dvr with dvd and remove this part : // Enable sound from stock audio applications
this.am.setParameters("av_channel_enter=dtv");
I am sorry but I dont unsterstand java.

I would appreciate your help

Wouldnt it be easier to go into factory settings and uncheck "DVD" ? That would remove the DVD from the circle entirely.

I am aware of this. Actually my app has already a setting to exclude dvd from mode circle. But its not what I am trying to do. If you are listening to a track on cd/dvd disk and you open spotify (or other music app) the audio from the track continues to play, and you have audio from 2 sources !?

It was something I tried to address with XMTC and had moderate success with. Unfortunately that code has aged beyond the current ROM releases, and I didn't have time to keep it up to date.
In order to catch all launches of audio-outputting apps, you'd need an Xposed module to hook into either the current Launcher process to know when apps are opened, or into the system ActivityManager. From there, you could interrogate the AudioManager instance and get/set parameters to flip audio sources. It was something I was looking into for XMTC, but never made any progress.
EDIT: Not sure if you've tried adding in this to switch away from the dvd source and back to the Android source:
Java:
am.setParameters("av_channel_exit=dvd");
am.setParameters("av_channel_enter=sys");
Also, I don't think any of this would matter if the @7floor mod was done. Everything should be piped into the standard Android audio streams at that point.

Need help controlling the MDZ-16-AB remotely

I recently got the Mi Box (MDZ-16-AB) to replace my Charter Spectrum DVR because I have IPTV service now.. The slingbox I have that reencodes to a lower bit rate (I receive via mobile hotspot in taxi cab with slingplayer on amazon fire stick) isn't able to control the box fully. The custom remote bin file is very limited on control options (power, menu and directional/enter buttons work) but the back button that is greyed out is a button that gets used way too often...
I have a VPN to my house on my mobile internet, but yet the limited 'android tv remote' app won't realize I'm on a VPN and insists on me using wifi for it to access.. Is there a third party app for android TV that will let me input the IP or IP/Port info in to control it?
I have a 13TB NAS at home as well with pretty much the entire DVD and music collection backed up to it, with kodi installed and running on a second input on my slingbox, for which I can control over the VPN perfectly fine using yatze.. So I know controlling it should be possible.
If I can't control via this method then the only other option is doing fireTV and controlling via the fire app on my phone (as I can sign in and control any fire device on the account) regardless of being on wifi or VPN.
Vysor, paid version.

[Android TV] Change Molotov Channel using ADB

Hi,
I am trying to control my Android TV using my google home and my raspberry.
I can connect the TV and launch most of the apps.
But I am facing issues when I try to do more complex actions... I am fully lost in the intents and activities...
I tried to find some informations with "dumpsys window windows" but without any good result.
I would like first to change the channels on molotov (I does not work just using the keyevents)
And another project would be to launch a specific Kodi add-on (catch up TV)
Do you have any idea of how to do so ?
Thanks for your help
